Of the top 20, only 2 came in the last 5 years. There is massive player power, they can now force moves fairly easily, and everything seems to be able to be done in advance now in comparison to tapping up scandals of 12-15 years ago, seems to be accepted now. Players and agents definitely have a large element of being in control, but clubs have loads of cash so they can a) afford massive fees really easily and b) have no need to sell for anything other than a massive fee

Right now it's more about the clubs not trying to get low-balled, hence why Man Utd want £150m for Pogba, but ultimately it will be more like £100m. But the obstacle really is FFP. It does seem UEFA are trying to crack down a little bit more on this.
