Owl City has revealed that the first single from his upcoming fifth full-length album Mobile Orchestra (album is out 10th July), is called Verge, and it features Aloe Blacc.
Here's a preview:
Aloe Blacc! That could be a canny move. Sounds potentially quite strong from the clip, and I am indeed getting slight Wake Me Up vibes from the tune.
Can't wait to have a full-length again from him anyway, these EPs, as lovely as 'Tokyo' and 'Beautiful Times' were aren't really cutting it.
Can't wait to listen to this, and Aloe Blacc too! The new Wake Me Up tbh
He has a Twitter chat thing coming up on the night between Thursday and Friday at 1 am UK and Ireland time. I've never participated but I'm going to this time. I have at least one question in mind to ask him. It's cool that he does that. So if people feel like they could manage to get off plug.dj a little earlier that night, come join us! #AskOwlCity
Yay new Owl City material!

Not a fan of the lyrics. Just putting that out there. I expect more specific and geeky lyrics from Owl City. But then I guess I could say that about Good Time too.
The music, I'm not sure, it's very similar to Tokyo, it's quite similar to Wake Me Up, it's occupying a rather nice middle ground between Owl City's pop, Aloe Blacc's soul and then the dance thing that's been accompanying the latter for a while. However, I'm not BOWLED over just yet, I may well be after a few more listens.
He answered one of my questions OMG
FINALLY got an excuse to bump this thread here's ha official video:
sounds like a big smash, if Radio are still willing to play Owl City that is (they had no problem with Good Time anyway but I have a feeling that was only because Carly was featured)
Sounds really good, it might be over shadowed from Walk The Moon's hit "Shut Up And Dance", there are some similarities between the two tracks. Guess we have to wait for a release date to drop.
It's great. Sounds very 2011. I can't say I like Aloe Blacc's parts, though.
I like it a lot! Very feelgood.
It is growing on me a bit, and it's definitely feelgood. Guess the video does help but it's driven home that this is just a club song about living for the moment with slightly more clever lyrics. That's not a good or a bad thing, just an observation.
Needs more Aloe Blacc, he basically sings nothing after the first few lines.
