Following on from 'A Fever Dream' in 2017 - it looks like Everything Everything's 5th album will be releasing this year! The lead single is releasing at 8pm.
And here it is!
Annie Mac must have been spoilt for choice for HR tonight - looking forward to this album!
Their debut album is almost 10 years old... didn't realise it's been that long ago already. They still come up with interesting music, 'In Birdsong' is no exception!
Vocals are still cool and unique to hear.
Musically it's a very good piece, but it's not the tune I was hoping for - could grow though if I hear it enough.
Already in love with this on one listen the synths, the vocals, the distortion what a comeback!
I don't think I ever got around to hearing their last album oops - really must belatedly get around to that as I love all of their first three albums and this already has me very excited for the new one!
New music releasing tonight, and looks like we'll get an album announcement!
The album is titled 'Re-Animator', it's out on August 21st and 'Arch Enemy' is out today! I'm absolutely loving it, and I imagine this will be the proper "lead single" that's pushed.
Tracklist:
1. Lost Powers
2. Big Climb
3. It Was a Monstering
4. Planets
5. Moonlight
6. Arch Enemy
7. Lord of the Trapdoor
8. Black Hyena
9. In Birdsong
10. The Actor
11. Violent Sun
In Birdsong is probably up there as the best song of 2020. Yes it hasn't reached no. 1 in my chart yet but it is kinda unfortunate that Nine is in the way (new lyric video on the week of the release of In Birdsong).
'Arch Enemy' is not as mindblowing a song as 'In Birdsong' but still another really strong single from them - the start to this era is reminding me of The Strokes where they put out a bit of an out-there song as the first single and quickly followed it up with something a little more typical/palatable. In that case I didn't really care much for the 2nd single though so thankfully this is a lot better than that!
Video for 'Arch Enemy'
I'm not sure I want to know what drugs were involved in making this x
Really enjoying 'Arch Enemy' fantastic track!
'Planets' is out today! Another really good one
Another decent tune. Not as catchy as 'Arch Enemy' (which has become one of my favourite singles from them) but it's got cool production and instrumentation.
I wonder if there will be more one song before their album release.
Adoring 'Planets' as well (those synths once again!), this album is shaping up to be seriously amazing if the singles are anything to go by. Guessing there'll probably be at least one more song to come before the album as it's still nearly 2 months away.
The music video has also inspired my new avatar as I realised Mermaid Pusheen had overstayed its welcome, intended to only be a temporary avatar for Teams xx
In Birdsong is the best of the three so far but have not really been able to get into anything like I have most of the last three albums which is a shame.
The album has been pushed back to September 11th, it's a shame but it's a much quieter week than the busy one they were releasing on!
'Violent Sun' is out today, loving this + the video!
Another song that ends kinda abruptly. LOL
Slightly unrelated but I've always wondered why Catfish and the Bottlemen always end the last song on their albums abruptly in the middle of a line
And this is also the last track on the album!
Boo at the album being pushed back.
Woo at them continuing to deliver excellent singles. 4/4 now. This one is the least instant of the 4 for me so far but I can already tell that it's very likely to grow on me more.
Just as good live as always!
STONKS
anyway everyone listen to Re-Animator~ Big Climb and Black Hyena are instant standouts, and some of the Radiohead-esque slower cuts like It Was a Monstering. Violent Sun has quickly become my favourite of the singles too
And it's charted at #5! It's also their first release on an independent label, so that's even more impressive!
Didn’t realise they were on an independent label, would that be why radio 1 were slow to playlist then?
As I was hoping from how much I loved all of the singles this is definitely a contender to be my album of the year. The only song that sticks out as a low point is 'Moonlight' (it's a nice enough song but definitely filler) - 'Big Climb' and 'Lost Powers' are both top tier anthems in particular, also absolutely love the heavy guitars in the second half of 'Lord Of The Trapdoor', and 'It Was A Monstering' is a brilliant more lowkey moment on the album (definitely quite heavy on the Thom Yorke/Radiohead influence as many have pointed out but that's no bad thing). My biggest gripe on here is the kind of weird echo effect on the vocals of 'The Actor' which brings down what might otherwise have been one of the best album tracks to being one of the weakest ones (still liking it a lot even so though).
I didn't realise until recently that they had gone independent for this album, that does probably explain why Radio 1 didn't support them as heavily as usual this era. Thrilled they were able to get another top 5 album anyway though (and I imagine they probably made more money from album sales this time than their previous albums under a label even though it was a lower sales number lol ~)
I’m still learning about this album with each listen it starts and ends amazingly but in between I get a bit bored but as I say there’s plenty of time for me to let it grow!
Black Hyena video came out yesterday!
Nice to have a new track to listen to in January from the album!
It's not a new song...
Il explain myself better then, it will be added to my on the go list on the new year as the next single!
Foals remix of 'Big Climb' out this week!
'Supernormal' B-Side 'Mercury and Me' for Record Store Day was released everywhere yesterday!
