Chart Analysis

If anyone thought Clean Bandit would get kicked off number one this week... then they were wrong! 'Symphony' easily makes it an eighth week at number one holding off competition from DJ Khaled and friends. It becomes the seventh song to spend at least eight weeks at #1, and matches exactly the weeks spent at #1 by Avicii's 'Wake Me Up' and LMFAO's 'Party Rock Anthem', however it is very likely that this week won't be its last, and it could be a strong contender to match or beat the current record (which is of course, 12 weeks).

Following its strong debut last week, DJ Khaled remains stable at number two with 'I'm the One'. Oliver Moldan holds on to number three with 'High & Low' and Jax Jones remains at number four with 'You Don't Know Me'. The one entry in the top five this week comes from... Martin Jensen. But don't get excited Vamps fans because 'Middle Of The Night' is still nowhere in the top 100, meanwhile 'Solo Dance' re-enters the top five to once again peak at number five.

Kygo is another non-mover at number six with 'It Ain't Me', whilst his latest single 'First Time' is within touching distance of the top ten; it climbs to number eleven this week. Gareth Emery climbs back to number seven with 'Saving Light' whilst Just Us take a sharp fall from the top five, down four places to number nine with 'Cloudbusting'. In anticipation for Calvin's new album, which will certainly have a big effect in the chart, 'Slide' re-enters the top ten, not quite reaching its original peak but climbing to number eight. The only new entry in the top ten comes from Zara Larsson, whose next Danaelandan single (but for some reason not her actual next single) 'TG4M' climbs to number ten.

Following its announcement as this month's Danaelandan BJSC entry, Leon Else experiences a nice chart boost, up to number twelve with 'The City Don't Care'. Icarus re-peaks with 'King Kong' at number thirteen, and at number fourteen is the highest new entry of the chart. Galantis' 'Hunter' has got off to a very nice start, instantly outpeaking previous single 'Rich Boy' which failed to reach the top 100 (oops). It is their sixth Top 40 hit, which includes two top ten hits in the form of 'Runaway' (#7) and 'No Money' (#3). Driftmoon re-enters the top 20 with 'Genesis' to reach a new peak (#18), and Disciples finally enter the top 20 with 'On My Mind', at #20.

Other entries in the top 40 come from; John Gibbons with MJ re-working 'P.Y.T.' which becomes his third top 40 hit at #29. Jonas Blue continues his 100% top 40 record with fourth single 'Mama' instantly charting at #31. French Montana gets his third top 40 single, and first since his feature on 'Feelin Myself' at the end of 2013, with 'Unforgettable' at #39. Watermät follows up 'Fade' (itself climbing to #25 this week) with 'Won't Stop', becoming his fourth top 40 hit as it enters at #40. Mike Mago's 'Secret Stash' re-enters at #38.

Quite a few songs enter this week's 41-50 section including songs from Danny Ocean, Charlie Puth, Soulé, Gareth Emery and Wankelmut. If they continue to climb we could be seeing a very busy top 40 next week.
