Now and Later is such a good shout, think that'll be a hit early next year. Sean Paul's song probably will be too although I wonder when the public will tire of Sean-da-Paul saturation (it's become really noticeable the last few months). I imagine a few tracks from The Weeknd's album will stick around like Controlla or that my be wishful thinking!

Naughty Boy's new one I can see stalling outside the Top 40.

I was thinking this Friday night when I was DJing, within 35 minutes of my set Sean Paul had appeared on Little Mix "Hair", Sia "Cheap Thrills", Tory Lanez "Luv" (Remix), Clean Bandit "Rockabye"... and those are just a few of the current tracks featuring him!

This at least has the potential to be a big streaming hit if it gets on the right playlists I think:

I keep on thinking when the Critics Brits Award is announced, if Rag'N'Bone Man / Human is still top 5 at the time, it could potentially be the first #1 of 2017, if he wins it.

On a separate note, I love the Lost Kings / Emily Warren track on first listen, mind you I think I heard swearing on it, Radio 1 will watering it down somehow.

I noticed this has been added to Australias Hot Hits recently, if it gains enough momentum it could be a small hit I think with a push (although I'm not sure it will too much but 'Sexual' became a hit and I didn't expect that to happen.

oops just noticed that's been posted laugh.gif re the anne-marie one/

If this got a push it could do something, sounds like a hit in the making!

I haven't seen a thread like this yet, apologies if there is one already.

Which songs do we think could do well in the UK next year? I have a couple:

Bebe Rexha - I Got You

Insanely catchy pop song, very radio friendly, hasn't charted anywhere yet but I'm willing it to do well in the new year:

Zak Abel - Unstable

I've been willing this guy to do well for years. I'm hoping 2017 is finally his year. He is insanely talented and his songs are all catchy as hell. His album is out in Feb, I'm hoping he at least gets nominated for Sound of 2017.

Any others??

Yeah there's a pretty big thread on this created by Dan a few months back.

I'm not gonna predict any cos all the songs I want to do well/cross-over never ever do :/

In terms of trends I am expecting tropical house.to die out early in 2017. I think the end of 2017 may see the return of a genre to the charts we haven't seen in a long time, trance. Probably a deeper form of trance song, made by Alan Walker. I think the nostalgia is there for a return and with Marshmello's Alone becoming big on youtube (which has a trance style buiodup if not drop) the sound, or elekents of the sound of trance could return later this year.

Anyway, there will be a pretty momentous shift in popular dance music this year as tropical house dies and is replaced with another, hopefully more lively genre. It could be like 2013 (rise of deep house)or 2004 (end of eurotrance, resurgence in house) in terms of being such a major year in the shift of dance music types popular in the UK.

I don't want the Craig David revival to end, so my hope is that this can do something.

If he performs the song on Top Of The Pops on New Years Day then it might have a chance. smile.gif

It only reached the low end of the top 200 following an X factor performance, so I think that song has no chance of being a future hit

Bear in mind though that he stupidly did so on the same weekend he was promoting his official Children In Need single.

I think we're still long overdue drum n bass being a huge trend. There were a few songs around 2011/2012 (e.g. Hot Right Now, Gold Dust) but no mass domination

Of ones already mentioned, wouldn't be shocked to see either Dye My Hair or Make Me (Cry) become hits!

I'll post more later but here's one for now!

Alessia Cara OR Auli'i Cravalho- How Far I'll Go

Not sure which version but can see one of the 'Moana' tracks taking off! It seems to be Alessia bubbling under on Spotify & Auli'i bubbling under on iTunes so will be interesting to see how they both fair after the Christmas tracks/gift card effect etc wears off
