According to Twitter these are the judge's categories:
Cheryl - Girls
Mel B - Boys
Simon - Overs
Louis - Groups
Louis and the groups shocker.
Simon getting the Overs in his first series back seems a bit strange. I'd have thought they'd give him the Boys and Mel B the Overs.
Why does Louis never gets the girls, he has never had the girls category it seems silly, I just hope those are only rumours so far. And the female judges tend to get the obvious categories.
He never gets the girls because the girls and boys categories are the ones most likely to produce a star and so they are reluctant to give them to a terrible judge. (I know Mel B is apparently a terrible mentor but still, I've never understood how Louis is still there)
I actually think Louis works well with the Groups, so it's a good option to give him them again (if we can get another Union J this year, I'll be very happy ). It really should have been Gary's forté but he did terrible with them last year because he's stuck in the frame of mind that you can turn an R&B group into a mini Take That and hand them global domination.
There will be a Samantha Jade esque star in the overs this year I think, which would be why Simon has them.
I predicted that, more or less! Except I'd maybe have thought Mel might get groups/overs so Simon gets the boys. Maybe the boys are weaker than usual, from watching both series of the Australian series Mel was an awful mentor, of the seven she mentored (one pulled out on week 2 in 2012 for a Skype scandal or something like that), the boys in 2012 and the girls in 2011, she probably mentored one correctly, a country type boy who came 2nd to Samantha Jade Others might think differently, but she really wasted so much potential with completely wrong song choices etc.
It's a shame Mel B didn't get the groups
Cheryl in a getting-the-girls shocker.
They've manufactured two groups at bootcamp, a 5 piece girl group and an 8 (!!!) piece boyband. Surely the latter won't work? They had InTENsity on X-Facror US, they were a Glee-esque mixed group rather than a boyband but they were a total mess.
Lydia Lucy from last year is in the girl group and Tom Mann/Barclay Beales from last year are in the boyband, as well as someone I know, Jake Sims well, I haven't met him or anything but I know of him, he went to a school near me. CLAIM TO FAME.
an eight piece boyband? that sounds dreadful. Well Justice Crew has quite a lot of members and they did well on an Aussie talent show so...
According to Digital Spy, Steph Nala (from Luminites) is one of the final 6 girls! Apparently another of the final 6 girls is Chloe Jasmine who has apparently been on some sort of modelling show before and I think I recognise her name from one of the guest panellists on Big Brother's Bit on the Side!
Also if we are to believe http://metro.co.uk/2014/08/11/exclusive-sinitta-paula-abdul-jason-derulo-sia-and-tulisa-sign-up-to-the-x-factor-judges-houses-4828746/, the judges houses helpers and locations are:
Cheryl will be joined by Sia in the South of France.
Mel will be joined by Jason Derulo in Mexico.
Simon will be joined by Sinitta and Paula Abdul in Las Vegas.
Louis will be joined by Tulisa in Bermuda.
Very good choices if they are true!
Steph I always thought she should have just done X-Factor, alone or with Luminites. I saw something about that Chloe girl being on The Face, the "modelling version of The Voice".
Sia was Christina Aguilera's advisor for the battle rounds on The Voice in 2011, but in fairness that was likely filmed before that show even premiered, let alone had good ratings, plus that was before she properly blew up. Not to mention The Voice has a bit more integrity, at least in the US, I think XF basically embodies most of what Sia seems to dislike about fame and the music world, so yeah doesn't seem like it's too believable.
I bet Cheryl's probably gonna be like "lol jk I've actually got Kimberley Walsh"
Cheryl with another big name by her side. Although Kimberley is her best judge's houses guest so far, naturally.
Would've actually liked to see her with Paula Abdul seen as though they seemed to get on so well during the X Factor USA auditions.
Oh I hope it's not just rumors for Sia.
She has done songs for Cheryl's new album so it wouldn't be such a big surprise.
The Mirror is now reporting that Will.i.am will be Cheryl's guest judge.
Will the BBC even let him do that considering he's a coach on The Voice?
Linzi from Girl Thing is in tonight's auditions episode!
I think Cheryl's judges houses has just finished filming and after a few days of silence of Twitter, Steph Nala has started tweeting again but she hasn't given anything away! I really really hope she's through to the live shows as apparently she was the stand-out performer at Bootcamp but I think Chloe Jasmine is bound to be through and apparently there's a girl called Lola who is from Newcastle who is rumoured to be through, so that leaves 1 space! (Unless 4 are through this year?)
This is Lola, she's on tomorrow!
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s103/the-x-factor/news/a594876/is-this-singing-fishmonger-this-years-x-factor-winner.html#~oOZVbfGQXrq0Uj
Not the most exciting audition ever, but there's definitely something special in her voice.
I've got a feeling Blonde Electric are in live shows. Maybe a coincidence but I've noticed that the very first audition they broadcast each year seem to make it all the way to the finals (Frankie Cocozza in 2011, Luke Friend in 2013, I'm not sure about 2012 maybe someone here would know). Add to that Louis loves the troll acts and I can really see it being the case.
Apparently Emma Bunton will be Mel B's guest for judges houses.
Looking forward to that!
If only Cheryl and Nadine were close friends, we could have Nadine as her guest and it can be held at Nuhdeen's Ayeresh Mest
Would've preferred Vicky B but that was NEVER going to happen.
Paul Akister from last year is back tonight!
And yay Emma <3
Why hasn't Steph Nala been shown at all?
Is Raign through to judges' houses?
Wouldn't surprise me... Simon may put her through for the controversy a la Katie Waissel and Kitty Brucknell.
I'm hoping they'll give her a big push during the arena auditions instead and maybe show a clip of her room audition then. There's 2 or 3 that we haven't seen in the room auditions judging by the list of the supposed final 24 so maybe they'll introduce a few completely new contestants to the viewers at the next stage as I suppose it'd be a bit boring to basically re-do the room auditions with all the same people.
And according to the list on Digital Spy (which I assume was sourced from people who went to the Six Chair Challenge), Raign doesn't make judges houses.
Raign is at least through to boot camp, I saw her at the arena
Lizzy who was shown tonight, who Simon thought he recognised, is actually the sister of Robert Pattinson! Cheryl brought it up at the arena, the whole place was like !!!!
^ Omg a couple of people on my twitter said that but I thought they were joking just based on the surname
Apparently Lizzy is through to Judges Houses!
Anyway according to Digital Spy's list, from the final 24 acts we have only not seen 4 of them I think (not including the manufactured groups) but I may have forgotten seeing a few names. 1 for each of the 4 arena episodes maybe?
Mel's judges houses is taking place in Mexico! There's a photo of Mel (& Emma) with her category too.
Spoiler alert: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bw9SqGJIYAAYLbO.jpg
So shes definitely got the boys?
Yes, it was confirmed at boot camp, they get their categories then.
*only Liam will be excited for this but still*
I KNOW YOU WON'T BY CARRIE UNDERWOOD IS BEING PERFORMED TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!
I've just seen that too and I'm very excited for that!
In other news, Steph Nala is finally being shown tonight and apparently "wows" the judges. Although she is shown "somewhat briefly" according to Tellymix. At least she's finally being shown and hopefully this leads up to her getting a big segment of the show during the six-chair challenge as apparently that is where she is said to be the stand-out performer and the judges' favourite according to people who went to it over on Digital Spy.
I'm excited too Joseph But it's one of Carrie's best songs so my expectations are very high!
It's one of my favourite Carrie songs too!
I think they'll just do more double eliminations, I'm glad of this change just so we can have an extra girl seeing as the final 6 girls are so strong. That means only 2 out of the 6 won't be making it, I hope that means Steph has an even better chance but if she only gets a brief mention again during bootcamp then I think we can say it won't happen - but if she gets shown a lot then there is still hope, especially with Steph seeming so positive on Twitter.
It'd be better if they had a different act added to their category like a Boy added to Cheryl's Girls and a Girl added to Mel's Boys just to switch it up a bit. I also hope they don't get rid of 4 in week one, its too much, maybe 2 per week for the first 3 weeks would be a bit less of a cull.
Lots of people over on Digital Spy are saying Lola is the girls wildcard (not sure where they've got it from but there were rumours she was out earlier in the week which would fit in with this wildcard) and everyone is coming up with their own theories! They basically think that considering she has been the girl that has been most focused on so far (along with Chloe Jasmine), maybe they want to build her up to a massive shock exit and judges houses causing a public outrage. Then when she is brought back as the wildcard she will have major public support into the live shows and achieve what Melanie Amaro did in the US. It sounds a bit far-fetched but I could sort of see it happening! And we know Cheryl has to go along with the producers decisions (I'm sure all of them do!) after she apparently had to send someone home at bootcamp for Chloe Jasmine after a producer told her to (according to people who were there at the six chair challenge).
Now watch Lola be the first girl through to the live shows in a couple of weeks!
Judges Houses confirmed
Louis - Tulisa
Simon - Sinitta
Mel - Emma Bunton
Cheryl - Tinie Tempah
No Paula?!
On tonight's show they are going to be showing the girls category's six chair challenge for the whole show! I would guess at the boys being shown on Sunday with the other 2 getting less time and both being on the Saturday show but that's yet to be confirmed.
The overs seem more hyped than the boys and Simon has them so they may get their own show too, maybe the boys and groups together (a chunk of the boys will end up in that 8 piece group anyway ).
Simon and Cheryl will both get a full show for their categories. Mel B and Louis will have to share a show.
Amelia O'Connell from Kylie's team on The Voice this year (she got cut in the battle rounds) is in the manufactured girl group She tweeted a pic of the girl group, I read on Unreality TV that she auditioned a week or two ago but unless I missed it I don't think it was shown. I loved her on The Voice
The five piece girl group consists of Abi Garrido, Abby Eades, Leah Gooden, Mimi O'Connell and Saffron Silva, I only remember Leah from the auditions stage... Maybe a couple were shown on Xtra Factor, I know that Jesy from Little Mix was never actually shown until they did an Xtra Factor special about their journey to the win.
The eight (!) piece boyband is made up of James Graham, Reece Bibby, Tom Mann, Casey Johnson, Jake Sims, Charlie Jones, Barclay Beales and Chris Leonard. Eight is ridiculous, it seems like they just took the opportunity to give every boy who messed up or they "made a mistake!!1!1" with another chance. Plus from the photo on DS they virtually ALL have the same haircut, from the ones I remember they all sound the same too...
I just can't get over how flimsy Cheryl was and how polar opposite Mel is!
Eight might be a lot, but in all fairness, it makes them different to the other four/five piece boybands currently in the chart. It's a good move in terms of making them stand out.
Apparently Overload have been given the wildcard for the groups. In going with the theory that the other judges will select an act to return from another judge's category, will they get to choose from the whole of the competition as opposed to just one that was eliminated at judges' houses?
I'd be very surprised if that was the case, it could be just their fanbase's hopes for that happening spiralling into rumoured confirmation. No-one really has any idea of the final 12 (the edits so far are practically the only thing to go on except for the odd unexpected TV appearance or extra promotion via Xtra Factor), so unless one of the band members have leaked the information themselves I'm not sure where the rumour could have come from or be any more valid than any other of the random rumours such as Lola being the girls wildcard for example.
When I was saying in the other thread that it looks like my 2 favourite girls haven't made it, I'm including Emily in that as she has announced she's performing at Soccer Six (a charity football event) at the end of October, and I can't see her being allowed to do that if she was busy performing in the live shows.
I'd also say Overload aren't in the lives as they are banging on about doing some tour later this year which also included Nicholas McDonald.
If Louis is picking the overs wildcard then, surely Raign will be back? Or Janet 'because she's Irish' Grogan!?
I'd say Louis will choose to pick (or be forced by the producers to pick) Stevi so they can have him in the live shows without Simon losing his credibility for choosing a "novelty act".
Does anyone else feel the groups is the worst category so far this series? Apart from these new bands with no names, nothing sticks out to me.
The groups, boys and overs are all subpar to me Each has one or two (or just one, the manufactured girl group, in the case of the groups), but it's just frustrating as I like all of the girls to some extent but it's likely two great girls will go over loads of crap in the other categories. That's the format for you though
A potential spanner in the works in the Girls category is that Kerrianne apparently tweeted (but has now deleted) she's playing at a festival in her hometown in the week after the live shows start. There's also a poster for the event that has Kerrianne on it! That would mean Kerrianne and Emily both are playing their own live events after the live shows have started whereas Steph has her ITV interview tomorrow (which would probably be unlikely if she got through to the lives as she'd be back there again next week?) - leaving only 3 girls left. But we need 4!
Unless Kerrianne got the wildcard which was announced after she signed up for that event, but there was a very short timeframe I guess between the tweet being posted and deleted so that would be very unlikely I guess. She's also been playing a couple of live events just in the last week looking at her Facebook.
If all that is true then I wonder if it is true that they can choose the wildcard out of anyone who didn't even make JH? Although I don't imagine Simon would choose any of them over Kerrianne, Stephanie and Emily so maybe whoever got it did sign up for the events before their interview.
---
The first week's theme for the live show is #1s and one of the guests is.... PHARRELL
I bet someone sings Happy as well... I like that it's a vague theme to start off with though so everyone can find their feet on the live stage.
oh god no pharrell are there going to be two guests?
I bet Pharrell performs 'Happy'! What is he pushing as his next single? I hope for 'Gust Of Wind' but there's no confirmation on that being a single is there (although a couple of weeks ago I heard Radio 1 play it)? He's gonna do "a fun." and perform his biggest hit instead, I fear
The broad themes are always good though, especially early on. It allows people to sing to their strengths. Sometimes the themes can be too dense, and when you're on rotation picking songs, if you're left with a niche theme and all the good ones that suit you have gone, you're a bit stuck really.
I've always hated disco week. NONE of the contestants afterwards are ever going to release disco in any series Rock and dance are ok but there's always a couple who just sing a piano version and get away with it becsuse the song fits the genre in its original arrangement. The Australian version is good for themes, for example this year they have only had rock week and the others have been wide like judges challenge (the mentors pick a song for acts that is someone else's rather than their own), Legends, top 10 hits, latest and greatest etc.
If they go with girlbands week which people think they will, I bet they will go with songs they have covered like Word Up and Just Can't Get Enough, with the latter doing the "ballid" version that they used on an advert earlier this year.
It was 'Listen' that was performed even though it wasn't a number one anywhere at all, wasn't it?
'What About Us' to be performed.
Thanks.
the excuse this year will probably be 'but it was #1 for half an hour on [insert obscure country where it takes about 5 sales to get to #1] iTunes!!!!1'
as well as disco can we not have big band week ok? or halloween week seeing as the choice is so limited and we always get a few non-theme songs from that anyway?
Mel B has followed Jake, Andrea and Paul on Twitter. Cheryl has followed Stephanie Nala.
Read into that what you will...
It's heavily rumoured Ben, Jay and Fleur are the top 3 overs based on a tweet that was posted on Digital Spy that I can't find at the moment!
...Steph Nala, really?
The only thing I remember about Cheryl being a judge (minus putting through the wrong people) is when she complained about Danyl knocking over the microphone stand and praised cher for it the following year.
BRING BACK DANNI.
Jake has been fine, a little wet with the crying but other than that has come across a normal lad type, who is smoking hot and has a decent voice. I'm not surprised he is in, if Paul and Andrea are the other 2 as he fills the 'hottie' role.
I like Jack too though and would like him to get the WC. That would be a really solid group of 4 for Mel and honestly the best 4 boys taking into account voice, looks and ability to get votes from a probably you girl and older woman voting audience.
Tonight's performances in order of being shown:
Only The Young - Ghost (Ella Henderson)
Electric Blonde - Gold Digger (Kanye West)
The Brooks - Jar of Hearts (Christina Perri)
New Girl Group - Say Something (A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera)
Concept - XO (Beyoncé)
New Boy Band - Mirrors (Justin Timberlake)
Jack Walton - Halo (Beyoncé)
Andrea Faustini - And I'm Telling You (Jennifer Hudson)
Boys will then continue on the Saturday night with the Overs apparently - I'm not sure where the results are fitting into this. Judging by the order of the Groups performances it looks like Only The Young and New Boy Band are definitely in the top 3, especially the former as apparently Louis and Tulisa praise them for their "energy".

Say Somerhing again?! Jesus. This is more blatant than the Skyscraper push where it was a soundbed like three times a week
And I Am Telling You as well I absolutely love and adore that song and he's my favourite boy but we could probably do with going a year without it.
Some brilliant and current choices! 'Say Something' for the 100th time this series already though?! LMFAO! :\ Also YAY at it being another Christina Perri song being used as opposed to the standard 'A Thousand Years' (As much as I'd welcome that back too ;D)
VOMIT VOMIT VOMIT at Andrea's choice though. Goodness me.
ignore this, I thought this was the proper discussion thread
Why has Christina Perri become popular among song choices this year? So strange.
Final 12 confirmed by the Daily Star? http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.dailystar.co.uk/tv/x-factor/402945/X-Factor-final-12
Found this on Digital Spy forums and it looks like they are probably the "makeover" photos? Looks like that could be official unless someone manages to find another act doing the same photoshoot!
Very very happy if that final 12 is correct, I really hope it is!
I'd say I'm mildly satisfied, bar a couple of really horrendous choices which I just don't understand.
I don't see a stand out star at this point, but let's see what they're made of in the live shows!
I've not understood the appeal of any of the performances he's given so far, and I'm so bemused when the judges/audience react like whatever he's just sung is the best thing they've ever heard. It'll take a lot for him to win me over!
That link doesn't work for me, can someone please post the alleged final 12?
EDIT: Found it on Twitter.
Thanks Liam. Ha, was going to say - should we still spoiler tag?
Fleur is singing Bang Bang tonight and Stevi is "singing" I'm A Believer.
Also apparently Jay, Helen and Lizzy all disappoint simon.
Not a single shock there at all.
Just as I predicted last week practically apart from the girls, no sad loss on the no hopers. Since Blonde Electric have been announced last night, I didn't think they would get through but when you look at the other groups that went out, it just made pretty sense to keep them in just for the novelty, until they wear off, but I do think Louie's category will be the first to lose an act in the lives, bye bye Blonde Electric.
Tonight's order of performance and song choices are as follows:
Lauren Platt - Beneath Your Beautiful (Labrinth & Emeli Sandé)
Kerrianne Covell - Hurt (Christina Aguilera)
Chloe Jasmine - Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Judy Garland)
Stephanie Nala - Careless Whisper (George Michael)
Emily Middlemas - Story Of My Life (One Direction)
Lola Saunders - All Of Me (John Legend)
Considering the three that are supposed to be through are Lauren, Chloe and Stephanie (still finding it hard to believe for Steph but the spoilers have been completely right so far so I guess there's no reason to doubt it), I'm struggling to work out which two will be "montaged" based on that order - unless they are giving the girls extra time and aren't going to montage anyone like they have been doing for New Girl Band and Concept and then Jordan and Danny.
Lola really struggles with nerves again apparently so that could explain why she supposedly doesn't get through however Tellymix writes that Stephanie is also "shaking" and "struggling with nerves" but wins praise for her "recording voice". The only way Stephanie's edit so far could be explained is if she gets a moment like Fleur did this evening, it's still the spoiler I find hardest to believe - I'm desperately hoping its true though.
Not more promo for that torturous John legend song
I think they'll just montage Kerrianne and Emily if they really aren't through Some good choices there, Kerrianne choosing ANOTHER absolutely incredible song <3 Can't wait to hear her and Lauren, Chloe should be fab with Over The Rainbow too.
That'd make sense, but they aren't next to each other in the running order based on the articles from Digital Spy and Tellymix. I can't remember anyone getting montaged with another person in the Overs so maybe a couple will just get shorter edits, and like you say that will probably be Kerrianne and Emily if spoilers are to be believed.
You're right actually nobody got montaged from the overs! All the girls except Stephanie have had a lot of airtime and if she's in the lives they aren't going to give her a fleeting slot so it'll probably be structured similarly to the overs.
Anyone know the Wildcard spoilers? Is it true Xtra Factor let it spill that ~~~Lola~~~ was the one for the girls? Seems believeable to be her tbh.
I don't remember hearing anything about Lola being the wildcard!
A few tweets have made it seem VERY likely that Jack Walton is the boys wildcard, can't see who else it would be tbf. Overload seem to be the groups one too?? Not sure how reliable it is but most of Twitter seem very convinced. Won't be disappointed but would be odd if they skipped judges' houses.
I'm not sure they'd choose Overload even if they did skip the JH rejectees, they'd split the vote with the 8 piece boyband probably. Not that that wouldn't be great as neither would come close to winning
I think Lola and Jack are pretty much certain, I imagine it will be Stevi for the overs too unfortunately and the girl group for the groups.
But Overload will "split the votes" with the 8 boy band, surely? Also, there have been a fair amount of rumours saying that Orla is the girls wildcard, so I don't know! She was in The Sun the other day (front page) so it'd make sense as to why she was on there. Coz I was thinking, why on Earth would that be front page when she had practically NO airtime barring the dramatic 6-chair swap out
I'm not convinced personally, but apparently Simon tweeted that he made a mistake in letting Janet Grogan go... so I do hope that they can pick any of them!
Apparently Louis chooses Orla, the one that Cheryl sent home at Boot Camp
Orla already denied it on Twitter and says she finds it hilarious and that people must have got her mixed up with another Orla! I assume if it had been true then she'd have just kept quiet. Although I really liked Orla so I'd like it to be her, but I definitely think they will all be chosen from the eliminated Judges Houses contestants.
I don't think Louis is choosing from Cheryl's category anyway - although I could be wrong.
No, it's definitely Louis - Simon and Cherly - Mel.
The suggestions above seem pretty likely to me, though if they do allow for pre-JH people I would LOVE Raign to be picked (even if she would be gone in a few weeks) but this is Louis and he will obv pick the clown.
Orla is a girl not an over and Louis is choosing an over and he is so gonna choose Stevi, it's obvious
I think the public would pay good money though just to see the rivalry between Cheryl and Raign again
This seems to confirm that it includes pre-Judges Housemates too??
"Each of the panellists have no control over who their fourth and final act will be - it’s all in the hands of another judge. The wildcards could come from as far back as Boot Camp's six-chair challenge so we may see boy band Overload make a return."
http://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/tv/x-factor-final-12-profiled-and-wildcard-twist-could-see-overload-return/ss-BB7NIJW
Raign coming too!??!1
Still just need Jack Walton Lol.
Can we have Reign come back? She'd make the show a lot more entertaining so I hope it does happen
Watching Cheryl SQUIRM in the face of her would be most entertaining, but this is Louis. He will pick Stevi for the LOLZ and anyone thinking otherwise obviously hasn't watched the show before.
I think this confirms Overload are back Definitely looks like one of the guys there.
Ugh. Booooring. I'm thinking a big The Risk/Union J sort of situation in regards to the boybands this year.
Overload WERE great, despite the poison dwarf gay one.
However from WHAT I HAVE SEEN that probably isn't accurate.
What is the point of having two boybands though?! It just takes away votes ... look at Union J and that other one (I honestly forget ). They arent even in that much demand now, Kingsland Road didnt do amazingly and neither did The Risk even though both seemed hugely popular to begin with.
I think the girlgroup was a missed opportunity, but I think it will work in Only The Youngs favour I guess, they will be the dark horses of the competition I think.
Overload are so hilariously awful, it's actually ridiculous. Hopefully them or the other boy band do actually end up doing a The Risk, both of them lasting until like top 5 would be ridiculous.
It's been confirmed fully that anyone who got a chair at the six chair challenge can be a wildcard, so basically all of the ones who made it to that stage as hardly anyone didn't get a chair
I'd like to see Janet for the overs, Lola or Kerrianne (as if the latter will happen) for the girls and the girl group for the groups. I think Louis will definitely choose Stevi for the lols, if not him then I imagine he'll go for Raign to wind up Cheryl. I don't think I remember particularly caring about any of the boys who didn't get a seat... Lola must be a cert for the girls, I imagine it's the same for Jack and the boys and Overload for the groups. Mel is choosing the group and I remember her being outraged that Louis binned Overload, but I hope as she was a Spice Girl she'll go for the girl group as we don't need another boy band. I know Blonde Electra are female but they're being pushed as a total novelty act and they're only a duo.
Edit: Amelia has left the girl group so if they're through they'll be minus a member. I doubt she'd leave if they were in the live shows though
Mel is choosing the girl, not the group.
Simon is choosing the girl, it's simon - girls, Mel - groups, Cheryl - boys and Louis - overs.
Well the positive of Overload returning is that the boyband vote will be split which could result in some earlier than expected bottom 2s for them like with what happened between District3 and Union J.
I think Stevi will definitely be the Overs wildcard but I'd really love it to be Raign.
Taylor Swift () is confirmed to perform on Sunday along with Pharrell ()!
Cheryl said on BBC Radio 1 today that she, not Louis, picked the wildcard for Simon. So either she's got mixed up or we've been wrong all along! If true that rules out any chance of Raign being selected but also possibly slightly lowers the chances of Stevi being picked (although I think he still will be).
Janet Grogan then PLEASE! (Hopefully she'll do as Simon says )
*apparently* Overload, Jack Walton, Lola and Stevie have all been confirmed as wildcards, not sure how reliable this is but it seems incredibly likely anyway to me. YASSS OVERLOAD AND JACK
Would be happy with Overload and Jack. Can't stand Stevi and don't get the appeal of Lola. If Mel does get Jack back I definitely think she has the strongest category!
I like Lola but can't stand Overload and Stevi and Jack is dull as anything
Seriously, they picked that terrible performer for the overs? Ugh. Isn't overload the one with Harry Styles cousin in it or something? Just another reason for XF to remind us all One Direction came from the show. I bet every week the relation is mentioned.
Overload were annoyingly cocky and if they get the wild card they are going to smug face all the time.
Pretty uninspired choices then.
I don't mind the idea of wildcards if the ones they put through are actually even slightly good. This is just putting even more useless ones through (bar Lola, who is massively inconsistent anyway).
I wonder if Cheryl could do a u-turn and pick up Raign
So three from Judges Houses and then a six-chair challenge. Just can't understand the logic. While I think Lola & Jack will be quite good, even if I don't like the former, I can understand why Stevi is there and I'm glad for that, but why Overload. I just don't get it. I think that young vote will be massively split between 3/4 acts. Also I just don't think there is much room for another boyband in the market right now.
I don't understand how Overload can be considered for a wildcard when they didn't even make it to Judges Houses. It seems very unfair on the groups who did.
Overload WERE very good, but I do agree that putting them through is only going to dilute the boyband vote, which seems odd given the effort they seem to be putting into the new group.
Or conversely create a big rivalry between fans of each boy band thus leading to MORE dedicated support?
I agree it's odd that they're being brought back but they obviously have the support already and apart from maybe Concept they're the best option.
But not too fussed either way because it looks like i get my Jack Walton bb <3
Ughh, should have been Kerrianne/Emily and Janet/Reign (would have made good TV, unlike the cringeworthy Stevie ugh). Don't really care for Overload and the Girl Band would have made more sense but if whoever picked them is trying to lessen Simon's chances of winning it was a good choice.

Based on that I'd go for a bottom 3 (assuming all the wild cards get through) of Jay, Jake and Stephanie.
Looking forward to hearing Paul's take on 'Ghost'.
'Happy' is such a crap song choice for Lauren.
Please can Jay not be singing Paloma/Sigma. PLEASE. I BEG!
You kidding me Blonde Electra are going to murder my favourite Kim Wilde track ever.
What a crap/odd set of so f choices... The only ones I would have actually matched to the person singing it are Roar, Kids In America and Bridge Over Trobled Water (and I don't recall ever hearing Everything I Own) to be honest... I'm assuming there will be a lot of "making it your own" for these songs! I knew somebody would sing Happy but why Lauren?!
Woah Toxic by Chloe? it's gonna be something like Alex & Sierra version it seems!
Some strange choices, especially 'Happy' for Lauren. I actually think Stephanie's song will suit her. I presume it's the song used on the current HSBC advert?
song choices thoughts:
Andrea Faustini
Earth Song
well this is quite a boring song. could potentially be one that he over sings on too, I just hope he does it well as he's got the voice.
Jake Quickenden
She's The One
sounds like filler to me. next
Paul Akister
Ghost
well this could potentially be a great performance. the song suits a big voice like his and it'll definitely impress
Chloe Jasmine
Toxic
sung in a jazz style presumably. intriguing.
Lauren Platt
Happy
really? why is she of all people doing Happy?
Stephanie Nala
Everything I Own
another boring song choice
Blonde Electra
Kids In America
with a song like that I'm sure their vocals will be awful, i'm just hoping the performance is entertaining but the song doesn't really give me hilarious car-crash vibes
Boyband
Roar
yawn
Only The Young
Jailhouse Rock/Twist n Shout
if they do it in a modern style it could certainly work. otherwise they'll be seen as dated. risky move
Ben Haenow
Bridge Over Troubled Water
clearly the producers are aiming at the mum votes here, could see him doing very well with big songs like this (although they will need to include some more modern ballads too)
Fleur East
All About That Bass
could go either way with the public but I liked her Bang Bang so this should be good too
Jay James
Changing
no! no! nooooooooo! i bet he oversings it but not in a nice Paloma way
no news on what the wildcards are singing? if anything?
I can already tell just by the song choice Ben will probably get the standing ovation/"you've emerged as the one to beat" etc. treatment. There's much more potential for that to be a "moment" than songs like All About That Bass, Happy, Roar, Kids In America etc. (not that I will enjoy it anyway with a voice like his)!
'Toxic' is going to be completely ruined for me.
Just realised with the theme been #1s, Kids In America, peaked at #2, than again its Loiuie what does he know
I wonder how he's going to try and swerve that one.
"Next up is Blonde Electra with the #1 SMASH from the massive markets that are Finland and South Africa, 'Kids In America'!!!"
Fleur os gonna smash AATB! Hahaha 'Happy' IS being performed lmao! Hoping Chloe does the Glee Cast version of 'Toxic' *.*
Edit: Oh and it's surely bye bye Jake? :/
Dire song selection, not going to lie; bit of pressure for Lauren singing Happy given Pharrell is performing on Sunday isn't he?
Week 2's theme is 80s songs!
A nice relevant theme which is perfect for popstars these days, great
well at least it's still quite broad. Would prefer the themes to allow for recent songs too as they'll suit some of the contestants more but I'm sure they can modernise an 80s song easily where appropriate
Just waiting for that Spice Girls vs Girls Aloud week.
Genius idea Jay
As for 80s, I have a feeling Blonde Electra would be in their comfort zone? I can imagine a whacky stage setup
I doubt anyone on the show will pick up on the fact Kids In America wasn't a UK #1 Most of the general public wouldn't question whether it went to #1 anyway, plus the theme is 'number ones' and not 'UK number ones' so there's always that excuse if it does get called out for 'not sticking to the theme'
All performances are on iTunes right now I assume they're studio versions. Anyway, confirms the wildcards, and their song choices, as:
Jack Walton - Only Girl (In The World)
Overload Generation - I Kissed a Girl (yup they've got a new name)
Stevi Ritchie - Livin' La Vida Loca
Lola Saunders - Stay With Me
So as the rumours suggested! The new boyband are also now called Stereo Kicks.
Glad they finally have done proper studio versions, now they just need to let them chart!
So... how many are leaving tomorrow night 4 acts otherwise it will go over into the new year.
i wonder if the album order is the running order? In that case Andrea Faustini is first and they're saving Stevi for last
Good god what awful song choices there aside from Lola, and that's horrifically predictable.
Apparently of the songs for next week have been revealed on Xtra Factor (I didn't watch though):
Stevi - Addicted To Love (another song Wagner performed, ridiculous :/)
Only The Young - The Power Of Love (Huey Lewis and The News, not Jennifer Rush/Frankie Goes To Hollywood)
Jake - Total Eclipse Of The Heart (this is going to be AWFUL I imagine)
Chloe- Call Me
Surely Don't you want me baby by Human League would have been the perfect song for Only the young. I have an 9 year old God-daughter who loves it and I cant resist singing along to it.
I think Chloe Jasmine will sing this verison of "Call Me"
Ooh out of those 'Call Me' excites me the most, can't wait for Chloe to tackle that!
'Call Me'! Perfect time to remind ourselves of one of the best X Factor performances of all-time! It was this performance that cemented Diana as my favourite X Factor contestant ever at the time (and still is now of course!)
The stuff of NIGHTMARES
and that's just HER
I hope Jake will do some kind of acousticy version of Total Eclipse or he will probably be a goner
I think Simon wants Jake out, he sees him as competition to Ben as the 2 pretty boys and having Jake as the last act to be told they were through (even though he may well have finished high up in the votes) gives people the impression he is struggling.
I think Mel's other 3 boys are so safe right now that unless Jake goes Mel could end up with her 4 left with only 8 or 9 left in the competition.
I expect dodgy staging, an odd version of that song and bad comments from Simon this weekend for Jake.
Jake will stay in, like Simon says, as long as the "girls" continue voting for him.
Song choices for this week

I'm Gonna Be - 500 Miles (The Proclaimers)
Stevi Ritchie
Never Gonna Give You Up (Rick Astley)
(I'm Gonnna Be) 500 Miles?! A (horrifically shit) group sang that on Aussie XF a couple of weeks ago and it was possibly among the worst performances I have ever seen, what an awful song choice Call Me isn't right for Steph either and Imagine is hugely cliched for Lola... I love the choices for Lauren and Chloe though!
Also, before they go all "OMG SO TOTALLY ORIGINAL TWIST!1!1!1!" over Jack Walton acoustic-ifying Straight Up, I guarantee it will just be the Danny Gokey version from American Idol in 2009.
Stevi doing 'Never Gonna Give You Up'? Haha oh lord...
Call me could work for Steph, it won't be a spectacular performance but it could save her!
Andrea singing 'One Moment In Time'? So predictable! Christopher Maloney Part 2 tbh.
Andrea's song choice is going to wind me up no end (mainly coz we know what the comments will be already and they really shouldn't be!). Him for the Week 6 (?) shock exit please!
Disappointed by Lola's song choice, she really needs something upbeat. Not expecting anything great from Jake or Jay with those choices either. Be very interesting to see if Ben can pull off Jealous Guy given how Aiden royally screwed it back up in series 7. And Stereo Kicks are gonna be awful with that no doubt.
Ones I'm looking forward to are Steph (of course), Only The Young & Stevi (just for the sheer cringe factor).
Interesting that 'Call Me' has been swapped from Chloe to Stephanie! 'Call Me' has worked perfectly for a quirky voice before (Diana! ) so maybe it'll work for Stephanie too.
Horribly predictable choice for Andrea and I can see people getting fed up of his song choices very soon if they carry on like this, rather than the more inspired choice of 'Earth Song'.
Jay's song seems a very strange choice and I can also see Jake being in trouble with his song choice.
It's a shame no one is doing Love Is a Battlefield.
Diana's Call Me was one of the most iconic performances of that years series in my opinion; there is no way Steph is going to pull it off as she doesn't have the voice in my opinion.
I agree with you, Diana has a lot more power to her voice than I think Stephanie does as Stephanie needs to make sure her delicate vocals aren't drowned out by very uptempo backing tracks. I could see Stephanie struggling with it if the song isn't changed to suit her more but hopefully she'll surprise us!
I'd rather someone made a song their own to suit themselves rather than changing their vocal style to attempt to keep the song the same as the original. I think Lauren did this perfectly last week as she wouldn't have been able to show off her vocals anywhere near as well if she hadn't changed up her song.
Thoughts:
Andrea Faustini - One Moment In Time (Whitney Houston)
really safe choice but I'm sure he'll do it well
Jake Quickenden - Total Eclipse Of The Heart (Bonnie Tyler)
awful choice, he doesn't have the voice for this song
Paul Akister- If You Don't Know Me By Now (Simply Red)
boring
Jack Walton - Straight Up (Paula Abdul)
don't know this song
Chloe Jasmine - Fame (Irene Cara)
really? such a cheesy song
Lauren Platt - What A Feeling (Irene Cara)
another Irene Cara song?!? imagine this will be modernised though and with her voice it'll be a good perf
Lola Saunders - Imagine (John Lennon)
another 'too safe' choice
Stephanie Nala - Call Me (Blondie)
meh
Only The Young - Come On Eileen (Dexy's Midnight Runners)
could be better than last week but still not a big fan of the song choice
Stereo Kicks - Boys Of Summer (Don Henley)
meh
Ben Haenow - Jealous Guy (Donny Hathoway)
meh
Fleur East - It's A Shame (Monie Love)
don't know this song
Jay James - I'm Gonna Be - 500 Miles (The Proclaimers)
NO
Stevi Ritchie - Never Gonna Give You Up (Rick Astley)
NONONO. can't have him ruin this song
on the whole not good
EVERYONE should have the privilege of knowing Straight Up!!
Chloe and Lauren have the best songs this week
Earlier this year I had fame + what a feeling on repeat and literally always listened to them one after the other
According to Jessie J's mailer, she's performing Bang Bang on Sunday.
Surprised no-ones mentioned there are songs in there not from the 80s!!!! Tho Imagine did go to #1 in the 80s.
That Monie Love song is from 1990, I thought Simon of all people would actually adhere to the theme Usuallt it's Louis who's wildly out and he'd have Stereo Kicks singing One Direction and justify it with the fact that their parents were alive in the 80s.
Straight Up is an AMAZING choice, Jack to channel Raja please~
Only the Young's song change is a dreadful move however, I can think of no song that less represents what style they should be going for :/
The iTunes songs are now available (and therefore the 30 second previews), Steph does seem to have changed up 'Call Me' and it's suiting her much better than I thought based on the preview. Chloe has also slowed down 'Fame' and Lauren has also slowed down 'What A Feeling' and they both sound really good too! I have a feeling Lauren's version of 'What A Feeling' is the same version Drew did back on X Factor USA season 1.
I hope Lauren slowing down tracks doesn't become a regular thing. She slowed down Happy a bit last week and now this, keep it upbeat
Yeah Lauren could be in danger of being the Janet Devlin of this season if she continues. An early favourite but turns out to be a bit of a one trick pony, so people will get bored.
Ah, good to see Jack isn't copying Andrew Garcia (could have sworn it was Danny Gokey but I looked and it wasn't) from American Idol! It's less stripped back but still obviously changed to suit him.
I do hope Lauren does what she did with Happy and have the original kick in halfway through, changing songs to suit herself by making them slower every week could see her falter as much as I adore her... Looking forward to Lauren, Jack, Stephanie, Chloe and Fleur anyway!
If Lauren's performance is as good as Drew's was, I think we may see our first contestant to reach the iTunes top 10!
I'm not feeling having the memories of Drew's elimination dragged back up
Drew was my favourite that year, she was probably my favourite X Factor USA contestant overall along with Alex & Sierra of course!
Talking of contestants performing "their own" versions of songs that have actually been done somewhere else before (see Foxes last week and Lauren's 'What A Feeling'), it sounds to me like Stephanie is doing this version of 'Call Me' as found by people on Popjustice:
Chloe Jasmine is gonna slay everything. I would like Andrea to go but no way in hell is that going to happen
I didn't know where to post this, but I really hope either Only The Young or Jack sing Boom Clap this week
Only The Young doing Boom Clap would be amazing! I think they need to do something a bit more current/cool now. Their covers of Counting Stars, Roar and Locked Out Of Heaven are seriously good, so they have it in them.
I havent been this excited by an act since Little Mix .
There's a video of them doing 'Counting Stars'? I was thinking just the other day that a band like them would sound good doing that song!
EDIT: Great cover!
They'd sound good doing 'Hold It Against Me' too!
Louis is keen to drop two of Stereo Kicks. I think it's a bit harsh as they've started now and worked hard as a group up to now but I saw it coming... Probably the youngest two? Idk.
I don't think they're going to axe two members, but imo a lot of these stories are being leaked on purpose. It will drum up support etc. for them, and probably aim to make them survive for another couple of weeks. The show needs the groups to survive for another couple of weeks at least.
I think they're main problem is they just all LOOK the same. In most boybands there are different looks etc. but apart from 1/2 of them they literally could all be the same person.
If he was to drop 2, I'd drop the 14 year olds. They don't really do much plus they have no qualifications. That is more important than coming 9th in a talent show
I really dont think dropping two members will do ANYTHING. It isnt gonna gain them new fans I dont think.
Lauren is the only one suitable to win, imo.
Lola could have but she's declined. Unless she steps it up.
Article of two being axed from SK: http://www.heatworld.com/2014/10/louis-walsh-to-axe-two-members-of-x-factor-band-stereo-kicks-to-increases-chances-of-success#.VEbhs5PF-R8
Jake looks a lot like Aston from JLS!
Just a shame that its not 8 instead of 2
not sure what the point of dropping 2 members would be exactly. Their USP is that they've got more members than the average boyband. 6 is more than 4/5 admittedly but still, I think it's a bit too late and would probably be a controversial move especially if they get rid of the 2 who are underaged. Plus if Simon wants 8 he'll get the final decision to keep it like that surely?
Oh GOD. Stereo Kicks are apparently singing acapella this weekend, god help us all if there's any way to sabotage the potential rebound vote, it's that.
LOL
bye then
you were hot whilst you lasted (which like most of them in't sack was NOT VERY LONG)
X Factor 2014 songlist – Week 3
Andrea Faustini
Listen by Beyoncé from Dreamgirls
Jack Walton
Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor from Rocky
Jake Quickenden
She’s Like The Wind by Patrick Swayze from Dirty Dancing
Paul Akister
Try A Little Tenderness by Otis Redding from The Commitments
Lauren Platt
Let It Go by Demi Lovato from Frozen
Lola Saunders
When You Believe by Mariah Carey from The Prince Of Egypt
Only The Young
Boom Clap by Charli XCX from The Fault In Our Stars
Stereo Kicks
Let It Be/Hey Jude (Medley) by The Beatles from Across The Universe
Ben Haenow
I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith from Armageddon
Fleur East
Lady Marmalade by Pink, Mya, Christina Aguilera and Lil Kym from Moulin Rouge
Jay James
Skyfall by Adele from Skyfall
Stevi Ritchie
Footloose by Kenny Loggins from Footloose
Listen AND Let It Go? Oh dear.
Boom Clap's a VERY good choice for OTY though and very contemporary, also excited for Fleur doing Lady Marmalade Eye of the Tiger is an interesting one for Jack, have no doubt that he can pull it off.
Some awful choices there...
Listen, Eye Of The Tiger, She's Like The Wind, I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing, Footloose
Hey Jude is the worst choice I have to say. Louis has managed to choose the worst AND best songs for his two acts because Boom Clap is a sublime choice.
Jake - So unless he is polling higher up than the producers want us to think, he is in big trouble, another ballad and a boring one.
Andrea - predictable, but he will probably nail it.
Jack - interesting, had hoped for something like that for Jake to show a fun side, I guess producers want Jack in over Jake.
Paul - think this will be a great choice, he should nail it with his soulful voice, plus the commitments is not done to death already.
Jay james - he could struggle with this, Adele sings it in a low-ish key and she is Adele, his nasal voice could really destroy it.
Fleur - could go either way but the worry is it is a very sexy song and the Lil Kim rap which I assume she will do is the worst part of it, this could be too sexual for the general audience
Stevi - More OTT-ness and girls dancing all over him I expect. I'd love him to be in the bottom 2
Ben - I hate this song, I kind of feel for him as this is going to be incredibly shouty and gravely and no doubt praised to high heaven from the judges when it will near on be painful to hear.
Stereo Kicks - Meh, hope they do as shit as their sing off, no doubt the VT will be sickening this week about the bond they all have and no they couldn't lose a member started with 8 will finish with 8.
Only the young - is it bad I don't know this song, they needed a new song, but maybe one with more wide appeal and one that everyone will have heard.
Lola - She will do a decent job no doubt, but this will do nothing to turn around the opinions of those who find her boring.
Lauren - #sigh No doubt she will get great comments, does anyone wanna hear this song again though sung by anyone?
I love this weeks song choices
Yay that my favourite contestant Lauren is doing my 3rd favourite song ever. I love let it go so much. The funny thing is I said to my friend to the other day that I probably won't buy any more songs on iTunes from the x-factor unless Lauren does Let It Go So excited for her performance
Also can't wait for Andrea, OTY, Jay, Lola and Jacj because the songs they are singing are all 10/10 for me
Really excited for Fleur- I love lady marmalade and I think she can do a fantastic job
Jay James - Skyfall? OH LORDY.
Some ones I'm not looking forward to:
Jay - need I explain? will be an awful boring rendition of a song I hate anyway
Fleur - way too predictable, another song I really can't stand and I already know how she'll perform this, just as boring as those that do ballads weekly
Ben - another predictable choice, he's a strong vocalist but he sounds identical in every song
Stereo Kicks - this is bound to be atrocious
Lol. 'Listen' so obvious, so dull, so boring.
Looking forward to the performances from Fleur and OTY
Footloose is going to be so funny to watch, Stevi making himself such a fool to even perform it, hopefully that be the end for him.
Jake, Lola, Ben, Stereo Kicks choice of tracks sound more likely to shoot themselves in the foot. The rest sound about average, just hope Lauren doesn't end up in the bottom 2 with a overkill track that's been played to death and the British public ignoring it.
Ooh some good choices this week. REALLY excited for Only The Young! Could be amazing.
Yay for The Beatles medley but eek at who's doing it.
I've just realised Lauren has done a song from a movie in all the live shows
Week 1: Happy (despicable me 2)
Week 2: What A Feeling (Flashdance)
Week 3: Let It Go (Frozen)
my favourite contestant of the year (Lauren) doing my least favourite song of the year (Let It Go) - interesting.
NO, NOO and NOOO at Jay James doing Skyfall though. He doesn't have the vocal strength required for that song.
lawdt at Listen being used on X Factor AGAIN
'Let It Go top 10 finally please' is a predictable choice for Lauren I thought. No doubt she's gonna slow it down even more though. Andrea's so predictable too. More predictable than my posts about my feelings on him!
Surely it's goodbye Jake? Such a dull song!
Hope this is OTY's 'E.T.' moment!
Does anyone else think that song for Fleur my well be very sexual and a little off putting. Not to mention it will be another uptempo with rapping song, she needs to show something else soon. Cant believe I'm saying it but she needs a ballad in a flowing gown.
Me and Jack have been saying all week that OTY should sing Boom Clap
Quick Fluer, get the full body veil out and sing Dido!
'Boom Clap' really is the perfect choice for Only the Young, looking forward to that *.*
Andrea Faustini, Listen by Beyoncé - Predictable and if I'm being honest not bothered about it. Andrea's such a non event for me. He's a nice guy and can sing well at times (when he isn't beig so throaty). But I think he needs to change it up a bit or at least sing a song by a guy to highlight his tone and show he can be a versatile and do well in today's market (which at the moment, I think he'll just end up with a mother's day cover album if he does win).
Jack Walton, Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor from Rocky - A great song that everyone knows, I hope he can do it justice.
Jake Quickenden - She’s Like The Wind by Patrick Swayze from Dirty Dancing - I think he'll give a nice performance.
Paul Akister, Try A Little Tenderness by Otis Redding from The Commitments - Interesting song choice and think Paul will do well with teh song.
Lauren Platt, Let It Go by Demi Lovato from Frozen - I think she'll sing it well but can we please let this song go?
Lola Saunders, When You Believe by Mariah Carey from The Prince Of Egypt - I feel that this is going to be a mess. It's a big song and I don't think Lola has the capability to handle it without lowering it a key or two.
Only The Young, Boom Clap by Charli XCX from The Fault In Our Stars - Great song choice! Especially after last weeks disaster. Really looking forward to their performance.
Stereo Kicks, Let It Be/Hey Jude (Medley) by The Beatles from Across The Universe - Lol.
Ben Haenow, I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith from Armageddon - I think his voice will suit the song well and he'll nail it.
Fleur East, Lady Marmalade by Pink, Mya, Christina Aguilera and Lil Kym from Moulin Rouge - Fleur will likely give a great performance of this! She could also have a nice vocal moment or two in the song as the original does have some big notes in it.
Jay James, Skyfall by Adele from Skyfall - Not sure how I feel about this. I like the song but not sure if Jay James will suit it.
Stevi Ritchie, Footloose by Kenny Loggins from Footloose - Expecting him to have everyone on their feet and give a fun performance!
Ok just listened to Boom Clap and wondering if you are all deaf? What is that hideous song and why do so many people like it? Is the girl who sings it popular round here or something?
I am so out of touch
My thoughts:
Andrea Faustini
Listen by Beyoncé from Dreamgirls - meh. One of my favourite songs of all time, but it's one of those songs only Beyoncé should sing (aside from the select few people like Alexandra Burke and Melanie Amaro who can do it justice). I like Andrea but this is the first song everyone would have thought of for him and it's getting boring he gets a big ballad every single week...)
Jack Walton
Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor from Rocky - odd song choice but I'm sure he'll just do the usual passable but kind of boring Ed Sheeran-y version of it.
Jake Quickenden
She’s Like The Wind by Patrick Swayze from Dirty Dancing - better song choice for him than last week, but still pretty dull to be honest and his voice is too weak and average whatever he sings.
Paul Akister
Try A Little Tenderness by Otis Redding from The Commitments - really good song choice! It's perfect for his soulful voice, I'm quite looking forward to this despite not being a huge fan of his.
Lauren Platt
Let It Go by Demi Lovato from Frozen - amazing choice! Hugely cliche/predictable but she's definitely got the pipes for it and it allows her to show her voice and emote with the song whilst still being a relevant and current song.
Lola Saunders
When You Believe by Mariah Carey from The Prince Of Egypt - again, very predictable but it really suits her voice. I just wish she'd sing something a bit different, I know Lauren sings ballads all the time but even she did an upbeat part of Happy at least and she just isn't as boring as Lola is in danger of becoming.
Only The Young
Boom Clap by Charli XCX from The Fault In Our Stars - as everyone has said already, flawless choice. I really do believe this could be their E.T. (not saying they'll win but it could easily be the moment they settle on what kind of band they should become etc.)
Stereo Kicks
Let It Be/Hey Jude (Medley) by The Beatles from Across The Universe - if this is acapella as rumoured (even if it's only partly), then surely this is going to be as painful as Overload's sing-off was in week 1?
Ben Haenow
I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith from Armageddon - yawn. Hugely predictable, and I hate his voice even if it does suit this.
Fleur East
Lady Marmalade by Pink, Mya, Christina Aguilera and Lil Kym from Moulin Rouge - brilliant choice, it allows her to bring a sassy and confident performance and just embodies her "aura" really.
Jay James
Skyfall by Adele from Skyfall - OH GOD. If anything could be as awful as last week's funeral march version of The Proclaimers, it's Jay trying to sing like Adele.
Stevi Ritchie
Footloose by Kenny Loggins from Footloose - oh dear.
Only The Young and Fleur will be amazing Especially hyped for Only The Young. I really do think they could do a Little Mix.
And Sammy, I appreciate alll your opinions, I really do, but they are wrong.
I am living for "Let it go" and "Boom clap" to be performed tonight
Lauren especially is going to be amazing.
Has the running order leaked?
I'm pretty sure Lauren will be last, or near it. The last performing girl was 10th week 1 and 2, and she was 10th then 4th herself. A boy and an over have closed the show so far, and LIG seems quite likely to be a moment so I wouldn't be surprised at all if she closed the show.
Be nice if Simon stuck one of his overs first, seen as it has been 2 of the boys first so far.
Also OTY are very likely to be near the start I'd imagine, they were second to last for both of the first two weeks!
I'd guess at the continuing of trying to get rid of Jake by putting him first.
Stevi will continue to be near the end and I think Stereo Kicks will close it.
Songs are out to buy now on itunes for this weeks show, Jay James Skyfall sounds awful.
Fleur's defo doing the rap as it is in her preview.
Jack could be in trouble too as that sounds a mess to these ears on the verse.
Just purchased and had OTY's Boom Clap on repeat for the past 30 mins! Really Really looking forward to tonight now!
I think it is why Only The Young and Fleur stick out and appeal to me so much, they are one of the few not afraid to do a song that isnt a ballad.
I don't mind ballads if they are ballads to start with, it is sucking the life out of a song to make it dreary that annoys me.
I'm 99.9% certain Jay will be by the far the worst performance tonight, it sounds painful. I couldn't make it through the whole clip
As for Lauren doing ballads, your comments are logical but my loon glasses don't allow me to read them properly and take them on board I don't really mind slowing songs down becsuse her voice is captivating enough to carry it, and it's the kind of artist she'd be after the show. That or I'm just a blind loon, probably the latter
From the clips, I'm looking forward to Lauren, Fleur and OTY. Not looking forward to Ben, Stereo Kicks or Jack.
I hope Lauren wins but it will probably be Andrea. :-/
Paul is singing Bat Of Hell apparently for Halloween week... Wtf?! Mel has clearly not improved since 2011's Aussie XF when she threw Christina Parie to the wolves with horrific song choices every single week[/stillbitter]. What an awful mentor she is, I can't see how that choice will work... It's an 8 minute song that builds slowly, it'd mess it up to have it condensed to 90 seconds. I remember Wagner singing it but of course he wasn't serious anyway
BRING BACK NICOLE.
Replace her for Alexandra!
NO.COM
YES.COM/GETWALLOUT.HTML
The 5th live show theme is apparently "girlband vs. boyband", so I assume just songs by girl/boy bands.Cue Stereo Kicks singing 1D even though "WE'RE NOT ONE DIRECTION WE'RE STEREO KICKS!!1!11".... Fleur for TLC please.
Um excuse me but WHERE is the Spice Girls vs. girls Aloud week?
Stevi to sing Spice Yp Your Life/Wannabe plz
Urgh guess that rules Spice Girls Vs Girls Aloud week out, which would have been SO much better.
I hope the guys have to sing girlband songs and the girls have to sing boyband songs! OTY would have to mash one of each lal.
If it were Girl Group tracks it'd definitely be Girls Aloud, Spice Girls, Little Mix and Fifth Harmony. Although, if Simon is vetoing choices would he ignore his two judges bands and not allow tracks by them to annoy Mel/Cheryl?
Fleur would slay BO$$ though *.*
(But she still needs to do TLC - Waterfalls)
Someone needs to do Ugly Heart.
There is another twist this weekend!
Im guessing it could be like what they did in XFAU this series...Voting results released for one week only.
That was a bit of a misfire on Aussie XF tbh because there were no surprises at all, aside from Rochelle being 4th when she majorly messed up Rolling In The Deep And I guess I kind of thought Reigan would be smashing the votes each week because she was so incredible each and every week but at the same time I had a feeling she'd be a bit lower than lost would expect. It could be good though as I think this series is much less clear cut. I mean in the Aussie version I think it was always clear the top 4 would be what it was (although I really did think Reigan would win until she was bottom 2 and started getting criticism and stuff and it felt like they didn't want her to win so the results being revealed were a bit anticlimactic as they were virtually exactly what I expected.
Idk if they'd do it here though, they're discounted from the chart to "protect the integrity" of the show and make it less predictable but this would do just the opposite! Like I said though I think it will be less predictable for our version, I can imagine Paul and maybe Jay especially being lower than us/the judges would think.
It could be a bottom 3 sing-off though? That was the other twist the Aussie version had this year, but again it had a totally predictable outcome and the 3 that fell into the bottom were always going to be there. A triple elimination would be interesting, maybe the two with the lowest votes just go them the next two are in the sing-off.
Flash vote on Saturday according to The Sun which means one act with the least votes will leave on Saturday and then normal sing off at Sunday.
The front page of the Sun tomorrow says it's an "instant elimination". I can't glean much info from the cover posted on DS forums but I assume it'll be like the flash vote from last year, only the consequence is instant elimination rather than having to face the sing-off the following day. I assume they have someone in mind to target here as I'm sure the producers will be aware of who has a bad voting pattern and is likely to end up at the bottom.
It would be epic if it backfired (which it could I guess if someone has a really bad off night) and Jay was a shock elimination It'll very likely be Lola though I imagine, OTY have the rebound vote and I imagine people who like Stevi will be more likely to frantically vote quickly. I think Lola probably just mops up casual voters, including those who record it and watch it later or the next day and just think "she has a nice voice".
This will affect people without a rabbid fanbase greater. So the likes of Fleur, Lola & maybe Stevie are going to be at risk here. I guess whoever is on during the clash with strictly will be off though.
http://www.itv.com/xfactor/news/fright-night-elimination-twist
If Stevi doesn't go....
My ideal situation would be Stevi and Jay to leave but I can see it (unfortunately) being a combination of someone like Paul and Lola. Never know, will just see how the ordering goes and who gets the strictly slot!
Unless of course when they say flash vote they mean it and only open the lines after everyone has performed.
I think this year has definitely shown just how little Louis knows about this competition. Within the first 3 weeks all 4 of his acts have been in the bottom 2. He doesn't seem to have a clue about the vocal training and in general doesn't seem to care
If this does continue next year, I suggest Simon scraps the whole panel (including himself) and brings in people who can actually sing. (I don't mind Mel, but I find 'our Chezza' very patronizing to be criticizing someones live singing when we all remember her mimed performances on practically every television show shes been on.)
Although I do like Cheryl, just not on X Factor
Mel is just as bad as, if not worse than, Cheryl at singing I adore her though. Like Jay said a page or two ago though, I think she is just out of practice as its not what she does as her job anymore - there's not an excuse for Cheryl again, I still love her tbh.
Also, omg apparently Fleur is singing Disturbia tomorrow *.* Slay, what a moment that could potentially be!
YAAAASSS FLEUR.
All of her song choices have been so on point so far. I think she will have to do a slower song next week to mix it up a bit though maybe.
Song choices have been revealed
Boys
Andrea Faustini Relight My Fire (by Take That)
Jack Walton Bleeding Love (by Leona Lewis)
Paul Akister Bat Out Of Hell (by Meatloaf)
Girls
Lauren Platt Dark Horse (by Katy Perry)
Lola Saunders Crazy (by Gnarls Barkley)
Groups
Only The Young The Monster Mash (by Bobby Pickett)
Stereo Kicks Everybody (by Backstreet Boys)
Overs
Ben Haenow Highway to Hell (by AC/DC)
Fleur East Thriller (by Michael Jackson)
Jay James Mad World (by Tears For Fears)
Stevi Ritchie Music of The Night (from Phantom of The Opera)
So many WTF how are they Halloween songs in there. Once again no Things That Go Bump In The NIght.
Pretty uninspired song choices, Laurens song choice is I guess but it will only be made into yet another f***ing ballad.
GET IT LAUREN
I also imagine this is the week Fleur will move into prime position to win it this week, I feel. They're definitely pushing her for the win, as I've already read whoever had Thriller supposedly has one of the biggest stage productions seen on the show.
Poor Jack and poor Paul
Sorry but I don't see how Jack singing Bleeding Love will be anything other than painful. Please can he not turn it into an Ed Sheeran lite urban-y track? Him doing that every time is just as bad as people doing incessant ballad versions of songs tbh. Although if he doesn't change it, it will be about as good as when Lloyd Daniels sang it... Hideous choices for Paul and Andrea too, Mel is on her usual bad mentoring form this week! Ben's will just be karaoke I expect and I'm sure I'll fall asleep after 10 seconds of Jay's horrifically predictable song choice. I knew as soon as the theme was announced he'd sing that!
Lauren doing Dark Horse (properly, if it isn't a ballad) could be a real moment, as could Fleur with Thriller but why such a clichéd song choice? She could have done Disturbia, or Black Cat by Janet Jackson! Lola's could be great too, as with Lauren I'd much prefer to do it in the original style.
I kind of get the tenuous links with "dark" and "bleeding" to Halloween, but how on EARTH is Everybody a Halloween song? Is it just because the performance will be so awful and karaoke it will terrify us all?
looking forward to OTY concidering they have a video out of it anyway:
Yeah, I think Only The Young will do really good seeing as it is a song they are comfortable with. Their version of it is really good imo.
and this is why I didn't want X Factor to do halloween week, as I was expecting super cliché choices and songs with really tenuous links to the theme
Stevie's choice though wtf I was hoping he'd stick to the novelty pop instead of going for a song that you need a good voice for.
Andrea Faustini Relight My Fire (by Take That) - Interesting choice. Hopefully he doesn't turn it into a ballad.
Jack Walton Bleeding Love (by Leona Lewis) - Hope this'll boost Leona's version on iTunes/inadvertantly cause "One More Sleep" to get a little boost too in time for the Xmas song push (they normally pick up after halloween right?). Hopefully he changes it up because I don't think he has the range to pull off many of the big notes (Ala Matt Cardle).
Paul Akister Bat Out Of Hell (by Meatloaf) - Very interesting. C
Lauren Platt Dark Horse (by Katy Perry) - Please do the original production! Be great to see Lauren do something more modern/edgy. I am expecting her to slow it down into a ballad though.
Lola Saunders Crazy (by Gnarls Barkley) - I think she could really nail this if she does it right and redeem herself. She's been rather underwhelming week after week for me.
Only The Young The Monster Mash (by Bobby Pickett) - Hope they will do the song justice and make up for their awful save me performance last week.
Stereo Kicks Everybody (by Backstreet Boys) - Meh.
Ben Haenow Highway to Hell (by AC/DC) - I think Ben's voice will really suit the song and I am looking forward to it!
Fleur East Thriller (by Michael Jackson) - Great song choice for Fleur and hopefully it'll have a big production too!
Jay James Mad World (by Tears For Fears) - Another great song choice. The overs are really nailing it this week in regards to song choice. Whilst I would like Jay James to do something that isn't a ballad, I can imagine his voice lending itself very well to this song.
Stevi Ritchie Music of The Night (from Phantom of The Opera) - Omg
In fairness there aren't really THAT many "proper" Halloween songs compared to Halloween for example. But in that case, why even have the theme? I guess all the staging will be very Halloween focused (as it was in previous weeks) to try and fully rationalise everything.
Edit: oh yeah, I forgot about Matt's Bleeding Love! I just remember Lloyd desecrating it That was probably Matt's weakest song, they do love to push it on the show though! I think that's one of those songs that only Leona should really sing.
I really want to like Only the Young but that song choice isn't going to do anything for them. I know they've already got that video of it but it's very basic still. It's not a song to impress.
I can see them using Only The Young having already done their song as a reason to throw them under the bus. Unless they knock it out of the park they are opening themselves for some major criticism.
I really hope they do a 90s week. I think Fleur could nail Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wopp (That Thing)".
Fleur doing Thriller could definitely be "a moment"! Looking forward to some of these performances. 'Mad World' is laughably predictable for Jay though, lol. I agree with the comments about hoping Lauren will perform 'Dark Horse' as it should be, rather than slowed down. It seems she is aware of the criticism because she remarked last week that she wanted to perform 'Let It Go' as it should be, without changing it. Hopefully the same will apply for 'Dark Horse'.
Photos of Jack and Lauren that were just uploaded look awful...
Looks like he's taking Mel's advice and performing shirtless! I thought it was a photoshoot maybe when I saw it on DS earlier but now we know his song choice it fire the song.
I don't get how she lets him do it but for Jake it was the worst thing he could do it's just quite odd. Tbf most good looking popstars do the inevitable shirtless photoshoot, it's part of being a popstar a lot of the time.
The 10 minute flash vote gap will be filled by... The Script How exciting...
YAY
The previews are out and Lauren is doing Dark Horse as the original was done, not turned into a ballad!
Nothing can make that abomination of a song sound good.
I don't get the fuss with Lauren AT ALL. Her constant inability to sing in tune is very annoying.
JESUS CHRIST JAY'S PREVIEW
He sings Paloma Faith and Adele but doesn't bother to sit half the notes, he sings Mad World and strains and screeches his way through it
Lola and especially Lauren doing their songs in the "proper"/upbeat way though *.* Fleur and Lauren could have real moments tonight.
Week 6's theme is apparently The Music of Queen () with Nicole Scherzinger being one of the musical guests.
FLEUR FOR BREAK FREE.
Didn't he do that already?
The X Factor @TheXFactor 9m9 minutes ago
. @SimonCowell, @CherylOfficial,@OfficialMelB, Louis and the producers have agreed a new theme based on two iconic acts #xfactor #newtheme
Spice girls vs Girls Aloud.
They have seemingly made next weeks theme an issue so it wouldn't surprise me if they went for GA/SG week to take advantage of having the theme a talking point.
forget that it will be -
The X Factor @TheXFactor · 3m 3 minutes ago
The #newtheme is...Queen versus Michael Jackson. Tune in 8pm Saturday night @itv #xfactor
Don't see the point of that, we have already had Thriller and Earth song and Queen are done to death. Amazing they think this is something big, it will be songs we've all heard done on the show plenty before.
There's no wonder why the x-factor ratings are decreasing! I'm sick of the same songs / same themes on a yearly basis.
We've already had Earth Song and Thriller, plus Lauren did Man In The Mirror at bootcamp! I like Michael Jackson and Queen well enoufh (probably not as much as most, I find both a bit overrated) but I'd much rather have Spice Girls vs. GA week, we rarely have their songs performed.
I guarantee someone will sing bloody Ben for an MJ song, they always peddle that one out And Ben or Jay will probably crucify Bohemian Rhapsody for Queen.
Why can't it be Jackson week if anything? Fleur would SMASH a Janet song like What Have You Done For Me Lately, Nasty, All For You or even Black Cat for a curveball
At least it isn't ABBA week.
Spice Girls v Girls Aloud is such a missed opportunity. Michael Jackson v Queen just seems so predictable and for me a bit of a non-event. As previously mentioned, we've already had a fair amount of MJ this year.
Big Band is after Queen vs. MJ. Oh joy. We're very unlikely to get more than one or two songs from this century over the next couple of weeks :/
The one thing I do like about big band is that we see the contestants in a different light and they're vocally more raw.
Why didn't they just leave Queen and MJ until whenever Queen are performing with Adam Lambert? They probably realised that disco is possibly the worst theme possible for precious Jay and Ben I'm glad disco seems to have been cancelled though, as I said it's always a crap theme imo.
GIRLGROUP NIGHT TBH.
Only The Young - What About Us
Lauren Platt - My Heart Takes Over
Andrea - Issues
Stereo Kicks - Ego
Fleur - Gentleman.
Jay - Not Giving Up
Stevi - Something New
How many Queen nights have we bloody had!? Too many.
Girls Aloud Vs Spice Girls would have made for interesting TV, I agree - missed opportunity. I remember how exciting and interesting it was watching a Britney Themed night those years ago. - It was something a bit different.
I was so ready for Untouchable to enter the top 10 as well.
Boys
Andrea Faustini - Somebody To Love
Paul Akister - Don’t Stop Me Now
Girls
Lauren Platt - I’ll Be There
Groups
Stereo Kicks - You Are Not Alone
Only The Young - Blame It On The Boogie
Overs
Ben Haenow - Man In The Mirror
Fleur East - Will You Be There
Jay James - The Show Must Go On
Stevi Ritchie - Bohemian Rhapsody
http://www.itv.com/xfactor/news/queen-versus-michael-jackson-week-who-is-singing-what
Yawn.
Wasn't Blame it on the Boogie by the Jackson 5 rather than just Michael.
Looking forward to both the Boys' performances but much of the rest of them are just boring songs and some of the weaker tracks of eithers' discography. Don't particularly think Lauren or SK will do good with those and OTY's is rather too cheesy. Ben's will be good and hopefully his best to date and at least Stevi's is bound to be entertaining.
Boys
Andrea Faustini - Somebody To Love (hugely predictable but it should be great)
Paul Akister - Don’t Stop Me Now (this seems like a horrific song choice but I can see him pulling it off like he did last week)
Girls
Lauren Platt - I’ll Be There (horrifically cliched and predictable, but probably one of the best matched songs here. It'll just be compared to Leona though and I'm sure the bored housewives on the Facebook page will have a field day that she's doing "ANOTHER BALLAD!!1!2!2")
Groups
Stereo Kicks - You Are Not Alone (with their vocals, this could potentially be absolutely painful)
Only The Young - Blame It On The Boogie (I like the cheesy fun vibe for them so this is a great choice!)
Overs
Ben Haenow - Man In The Mirror (should be his best to date, hopefully his voice isn't as grating on a totally different song to what he's perofmed prior to this)
Fleur East - Will You Be There (should be a decent change of pace for her without throwing her to the wolves by going too far out of her comfort zone)
Jay James - The Show Must Go On (I can already forsee this will be the usual dullest met with a rabid reaction from Simon, Louis, Mel and the bored housewives of Facebook)
Stevi Ritchie - Bohemian Rhapsody (I think they're using last week's performance as his template, but this is a song even the best shouldn't tackle)
Stevi doing Bohemian Rhapsidy, oh sweet Jesus!
I think Jay is going to be in trouble this week. Maybe this weeks shock exit? I fear for OTY with their choice too. They should have had 'Radio Ga Ga' or something better
Oh and no 'Who Wants To Live Forever'??? Ughhh
I think it'll be one of the groups that'll be leaving...
Only The Young or Paul I think
Thinking about it surely an Over is due an elimination or else there'll be more Overs than the rest of the categories combined in a couple of weeks!
Only The Young really needed a ballad, I really wanted them to get Who Wants To Live Forever rather than going down the Same Difference route. Louis is changing Only The Young into artists that they're not.
Andrea will have a big task to outdo Brittany Murphy's version tbh
Oooh at Fleur's choice. One of my favourite MJ songs and she'll probably be doing the version i think Jennifer Hudson did at his funeral, i think it was? Either way that could be goosebump central if she pulls it off well.
Stacey's performance was amazing. Easily her best performance on X Factor for me!
Stacey slayed at 'Who Wants To Live Forever' it introduced me to the song!
Jay James has lost his voice (Mean but i really really dont like him)
I'm sure it'll be miraculously fine tomorrow or even worse he'll get a pass to next week
Blatantly scared of the week 5 shock
I just hope he doesn't get the sympathy vote if he does perform with a not so good voice this week (his voice is awful every week but you know what I mean)
I'd rather he performed badly and got through instead of getting an immediate pass to next week. Or better scenario, he just leaves the show
Gosh almost all of those Queen choices are painfully predictable.
Week 5 shock to take out Andrea please.
Tbf there was no week 5 shock last year, it was Abi who was sent home then. I think of the realistic "shock" options, I can only see Jay going really or maybe Lauren if she has a REALLY bad week (which I don't imagine she will). And I don't think Jay will be bottom 2 with the "oh I'm ill but still soldiered on" thing... It's gonna be Paul or Only The Young I imagine, neither of which will be a shock.
Previews are up on itunes!
Paul's could be an absolute train wreck... It's been turned into some weird dubsteppy/DnB flecked kind of thing, a bit like what Jay did with Mad World last week :/ Both of the groups sound painful in studio form so I dread to think how it'll turn out live. Lauren sounds great as always but it's not going to be a knockout performance or anything sadly. I'd say Fleur is the one to watch for tonight. I couldn't even make it through all of Jay's clip and Ben's voice is just as grating as usual on a different type of song.
Ha! I knew that song choice wouldn't work for Jay (which is why I predicted him to be the week 5 shock/in trouble) so to see him going down that "so ill" route... doesn't surprise me.
So many artists perform with a poorly throat (unless it's career affecting then obviously dont perform).
From the previews I actually think SK will be ok as James will carry them and belt.
Jay's is painful, just a big song and he pulls out of notes even in the studio recording.
Not a good song for Lauren all I can hear is the Mariah version and again Lauren pulls out of any of the Mariah notes and it leaves it sounding really bland.
Paul's is odd, he sounds vocally fine but it is defo a song choice to try and get him out.
OTY are in trouble the weaker girl seems to be singing a lot of it.
Fleur's is typical Fleur nothing amazing vocally but it suits her somewhat.
Ben's sounds great as the song has forced him to tone down the gravel and it suits him, much nicer tone.
Andrea his usual big ballad should be fine.
Stevi aint bothering to listen to.
Bottom 2 predictions based on that and series so far, OTY for defo with Jay or Paul joining them. OTY gone.
Stereo Kicks have just changed their song apparently which is probably why we haven't been given the song choices yet!
The cynic in me can smell fake drama in the hope of bagging them more votes!
Song choices:
Andrea Faustini - Summertime (Ella Fitzgerald)
Lauren Platt - Smile (Nat King Cole)
Only the Young - I Wanna Be Like You (from The Jungle Book)
Stereo Kicks - to be confirmed...
Ben Haenow - Cry Me A River (Michael Bublé)
Fleur East - Bang Bang (Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj)
Jay James - Empire State of Mind/New York New York (Alicia Keys/Frank Sinatra)
Stevi Ritchie - Mambo Number 5/She Bangs (Lou Bega/Ricky Martin)
Some very predictable choices then, Fleur to go last and slay them all please
Andrea Faustini - Summertime (Ella Fitzgerald) - Could work well but not as convinced as I usually am with him
Lauren Platt - Smile (Nat King Cole) - This is a pretty boring and uninspiring choice, not vocally challenging
Only the Young - I Wanna Be Like You (from The Jungle Book) - Should be fun & upbeat, but a bit too novelty for them
Stereo Kicks - to be confirmed... - OOOH LE DRÁMÁ!
Ben Haenow - Cry Me A River (Michael Bublé) - Big song for a big voice, but he just makes every performance so predictable
Fleur East - Bang Bang (Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj) - Could be a show-stealer, building on her great Judges Houses performance
Jay James - Empire State of Mind/New York New York (Alicia Keys/Frank Sinatra) - Not entirely sure how this will pan out but at least it's an unexpected choice
Stevi Ritchie - Mambo Number 5/She Bangs (Lou Bega/Ricky Martin) - ha
Cheryl needs to stop giving Lauren such basic choices! Smile and I'll Be There were recycled from Diana and Alexandra too. Bang Bang again for fleur is predictable too, and it's not even jjazzy or swingy let alone big band! But she'll smash it again I'm sure.
Summertime is only going to increase Andrea's hype (given he will almost certainly nail it vocally). Looking forward to Fleur, Andrea, Lauren and maybe OTY anyway.
My only problem with Stevi singing She Bangs is everyone will just be comparing him to Wagner
They're not even trying to hide Stevi's role as a joke act aren't they?
Looking forward to Fleur the most!
Be interesting to see Fleur's performance with full production in tact! I don't like it when they recycle song choices though, I'd have preferred 'Problem' or something! but whatevs.
OTY FAR too novelty for them. They are NOT a Steps/S Club 7 type of pop act. Wish they'd stop forcing them these types of songs. Let them perform 'Rather Be' and 'Locked Out Of Heaven'.
Andrea Faustini - Summertime (Ella Fitzgerald) - He'll sing it well, but not particularly looking forward to the song.
Lauren Platt - Smile (Nat King Cole) - Rather bland choice and I don't think the song is going to do too much for Lauren.
Only the Young - I Wanna Be Like You (from The Jungle Book) - I'm sure it'll be a fun performance, but I'd wish they'd pick songs that were a little more mature.
Stereo Kicks - to be confirmed... - Hmm.
Ben Haenow - Cry Me A River (Michael Bublé) - Think Ben will sing it well but like Andrea, not particularly looking forward to the song.
Fleur East - Bang Bang (Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj) - Even though she's sung it before, I think it'll be performance of the night quite easily and can't wait to hear what the song sounds like with a big band.
Jay James - Empire State of Mind/New York New York (Alicia Keys/Frank Sinatra) - Very interesting choices and actually looking forward to it.
Stevi Ritchie - Mambo Number 5/She Bangs (Lou Bega/Ricky Martin) - Lol.
Be interesting to see if any of the contestants get drowned out by the band.
Tbf, Boom Clap didn't go too well for OTY And they're picking the songs now so it's them who think this is their lane! I like the fun vibe for them though. Admittedly it won't sell many records but I enjoy their performances.
The itunes previews/pre-orders are up - Stereo Kicks' song choice is Mack The Knife. Yawn.
Annoyingly Fleur isn't released yet and her clip isn't on there Actually the clips are only up for OTY, Lauren, Jay and Ben. The latter sounds absolutely horrific....
If Only The Young survive this week then hopefully next week they can be a little more mature. I'm positive that with the right mentor their odds would have been far greater.
To be fair that didn't work well when they did Boom Clap I like the fun vibe for them, but I guess it's not something that will sell records. And also, didn't Louis say they had an increased role in choosing their songs now? So they must be happy with the direction they're going in.
Edit: all clips are out now. Fleur's sounds amazing, a reallt different interpretation of the song! Andrea sounds way too shouty for the song...
Apparently Fleur's song choice for this week "embodies empowerment". So that'll be I'm Every Woman, Queen Of The Night or Million Dollar Bill I imagine?
It's Not Right But It's Okay?
The video is rather empowering iirc? Lots of angry ladies sticking it to their cheating men!
Queen of the Night would be AMAZING for her, the shouty nature of it would suit her vocals very well, but this is X Factor so it'll be I'm Every Woman.
Lauren is singing a ballad arranged into uptempo And she's dancing (hopefully properly this time, much as I love her it was a bit ridiculous when she had a meltdown over two jerks to the side in Dark Horse ). This could be a risk but if pays off hopefully it silences the anti-Lauren brigade who moan she's always boring and has no energy or whatever... Still, maybe a risk isn't good now as I think she's liable to be bottom 2 along with the two groups and Stevi unless Fleur royally messes up (as if Andrea or Ben are ending up anywhere near).
Also I don't know why they couldn't just give her How Will I Know or I Wanna Dance With Somebody which are already uptempo if she must take a risk!
This week is another double elimination
Makes sense as they still have 1 more contestant than normal at this point.
This means either SK or OTY will be gone by Sunday and Stevi on Saturday.
Yep I'd be very surprised if anyone other than OTY & Stevi left this weekend. SK are being safeguarded through the comp and the other 4 seem to have enough of a loyal fanbase to waive off the threat of sing-offs (for now).
I can definitely see a bottom 3 of Stevi, OTY and Stereo Kicks, although I reaaaaally hope OTY survive and someone like Andrea or Ben ends up in the sing-off! As long as Fleur's safe though
I'm not so sure SK will be safe, especially now they are on the tour, but I think they are probably a little more safe than OTY. So I expect them gone on Saturday and then a Stevi/SK bottom 2 on Sunday with Stevi gone.
That said Andrea and Lauren could both easily be ''shock'' bottom 2/3's this week too, unless they really pull it out of the bag. Basically Ben and Fleur are the only ones I think are safe.
Boys
Andrea Faustini - I Have Nothing
Girls
Lauren Platt - How Will I Know?
Groups
Only The Young - Something About The Way You Look Tonight
Stereo Kicks - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Overs
Ben Haenow - I Will Always Love You
Fleur East - I'm Every Woman
Stevi Ritchie - I'm Still Standing
So just the usual choices, as expected really. Ben is gonna SLAUGHTER I Will Always Love You though... :/
Andrea Faustini - I Have Nothing - Another week, yet another Whitney song. Least he's doing the most vocally challenging ones
Lauren Platt - How Will I Know? - This could either go brilliantly (like Lucie or Sam) or rather terribly, no middle ground. Nice to hear an upbeat piece, imagine if she actually dances in this one
Only The Young - Something About The Way You Look Tonight - Excellent! Said this is what they should sing earlier this week. If it recaptures the magic like their first audition it could be a show-stealer
Stereo Kicks - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me - Nothing special here, excuse for lead guy to throw a few vocal acrobatics in near the end
Ben Haenow - I Will Always Love You - On paper this sounds torturous. Can't see how he'll make this sound acceptable
Fleur East - I'm Every Woman - I just find this song boring regardless of who's singing it, but at least she'll perform it brilliantly
Stevi Ritchie - I'm Still Standing - REALLY going down the Wagner route now
If the bottom two is Stereo Kicks and Only The Young, I'm sure 'Only The Young' will progress.
Double elimination again isn't it? Wouldn't be surprised if we lost BOTH groups this weekend.
Boys
Andrea Faustini - I Have Nothing (I'm sure there'll be nothing wrong with it vocally but I can already hear exactly how the performance sounds in my head, too predictable)
Girls
Lauren Platt - How Will I Know? (
Groups
Only The Young - Something About The Way You Look Tonight (good to see them go back to their audition! I didn't care for it as much as everyone else but they've been great in the lives so far and this could be brilliant)
Stereo Kicks - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me (I agree with the above, just like You Are Not Alone this was clearly chosen just so James (I think he's the one?) can carry it.
Overs
Ben Haenow - I Will Always Love You (literally THE worst possible song choice. He struggled with Cry Me A River so this is going to be nothing short of painful)
Fleur East - I'm Every Woman (slay. This will be amazing)
Stevi Ritchie - I'm Still Standing (oh dear)
Every single one of these are horribly predictable though, except Ben's IWALY and of course the song is predictable... I think it's a fairly preditctable bottom 3 of Stevi and the groups, but Stevi could get the rebound vote and maybe if OTY smash it then Fleur/Ben/Andrea/Lauren might fall into the bottom. Doubt it, but maybe. Ideally Ben would go but no matter how much he butchers IWALY he'll be fine.
Stevi has to get a PROPER rebound though, which I can't see - he needs to be top 4 out of 7... when he was 7th out of the 7 who are left from last week, I can't see him rebounding enough.
I'd have to say it's gonna be Stevi and Only The Young but part of me is holding onto hope that Stereo Kicks could go over OTY... which is hardly out of the realms of possibility given they've been bottom 2 twice already.
After that tweet that oty took a pic of! there is going to be some BEEF tonight in that house!
I reckon the three who are singing Elton John are going to be the three in danger.
I predict that Ben will slaughter IWALY and still get a standing ovation.
I predict that Lauren will have ''issues'' during the week trying to sing that song and use it as an excuse for her being rubbish.
Happy with the double elimination (as long as Fleur isn't a victim ) as it means we won't have a crowded final of 4.
Totally here for Fleur and Andrea's performances this week - I'm sure Andrea sang the song earlier on at some point?
I'm going to go with - Stereo Kicks automatic elimination.
Fleur & Stevi bottom two on Sunday. Stevi's number is definitely up this week. Hope we can kick out Stereo Kicks too, and I think the shock will be Fleur/Lauren, though I'm going with Fleur right now.
Andrea Faustini - I Have Nothing - Predictable, but I'm sure he'll do a good job!
Lauren Platt - How Will I Know? - Expecting this to be a bit messy and for Lauren to struggle with the higher notes of the song.
Only The Young - Something About The Way You Look Tonight - Should be good if it's anything like their audition!
Stereo Kicks - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me - I think they'll do a decent job of this.
Ben Haenow - I Will Always Love You - Not sure how I feel about this. I don't think Ben's voice will suit this and he may end up screeching out the big ending...
Fleur East - I'm Every Woman - I think Fleur is going to struggle big time with this song. Whitney absolutely KILLS everything at the end of this song, with big belt after big belt. I feel that if Fleur leaves them out, it'll take away from the song (It's all about the big notes really) and I don't think her performing the song well will make up for the lack of vocals.
Stevi Ritchie - I'm Still Standing - Lol.
Only The Young aren't anywhere near as irritating as Steps.
