I just really feel bad for everyone who worked hard for this. It's like the country that would have won with this collection of songs would be robbed of that glory.

I understand why its cancelled although I did expect they would do a show, each country send in a live performance let them replay and vote as normal.i dont understand why the acts cant use the same song next year though,

We really have NO way of knowing how long this virus will last, if they had to postpone again when it got to the planned later date, it'd make a mockery of everyone participating. As sad as it is, there really wasn't much of an option PLUS it's costing Rotterdam an additional 6.9 million, something that doesn't sit well with quite a few people during times like these |

The EBU have confirmed that the 2020 songs will NOT be allowed to be carried over for 2021

I guess the only reason they’re not just showing music videos/specially recorded performances instead and having a vote is because Amsterdam misses its chance to host? Feels it would be more respectful to the artists to go ahead with a recorded version if they’re not going to allow their songs to be eligible for next year.

I'm not mad at the songs not carrying over tbh, I didn't expect them to do that. And it'd be boring if we had another contest next year but no new songs, I get that it's a shame for the artists and writers who put work into the songs but if it wasn't postponed, I just expected them to start anew (with Rotterdam still hosting). It's nice that most artists are gonna come back though.

I'm so gutted we're not gonna see 'Uno' on the Eurovision stage we haven't something so bonkers and out there since 'Dancing Lasha Tumbai'. I do hope Russia have seen the massive reaction they've had and decide to send them again next year.

There should be an organised online series of videos and votes for semis and a final on the original dates. Unofficial if the official can't be arsed, and even if it's just die-hard fans who vote...

Is that confirmed? I'm like divided on that like I want Little Big to return for 2021 but I don't want Arilena More expected rather than outright confirmed, but it seems that almost a quarter of artists/countries have announced already that they're sticking together next year, it'll be up to the individual broadcasters. Albania could be one of the exceptions. FiK will go on regardless, but it existed without a Eurovision connection before so could do so again for a year. |

Yeah I've just seen a fair few wanting to go and some confirmed, it's not a done thing. I can't see why most of the internals won't, and in terms of for example Italy, if they did want to go with Diodato again then it would have no bearing on Sanremo because it existed before Eurovision, it existed when Italy wasn't in Eurovision and it wasn't even always used to select their entry after they came back (it was always a song or artist from Sanremo, but not necessarily the winner).
Sweden have already confirmed the Mamas won't be their rep for 2020, Melfest is bigger than Eurovision but it's more tied to it than Sanremo is. That's not to say it wouldn't work without being tied to Eurovision, but I can see why they're doing it whilst it's sad for the Mamas. I'd be raging if Dotter won Melfest tho ofc I think they should at least give the Mamas a guaranteed slot to compete again though! |

Yeah I can see The Mamas being given the Heat 4 pimp slot as a kind of compensation.

They will be screened on the night, but no voting. Better than nothing I guess.....
Down to Buzzjack to sort out the voting on the night then...? |

I've been enjoying the yesteryear World Snooker classics on TV, replacing what would have currently been the actual 2020 event, which I think is tentatively pencilled in for later this year, but I'm not certain.
Anyway... It got me wondering if something similar was planned for Eurovision week/night? Yep, an evening of snooker, lol. But seriously, I'd enjoy an evening of yesteryear Eurovision highlights. Tbh, I'd be more likely to tune in to that, as a lot of the modern mainstream music sadly doesn't appeal that much to me. |
