Following on from Spy, I was very excited for the retun of Melissa and this seems to be it before Ghostbusters lands, doesn't look AS funny but that was always going to be a tough act to follow. I'm looking forward to it, there are some decent jokes in the trailer. This post has been edited by Josh.: Nov 21 2015, 10:34 AM |

It looks terrible and unfunny ... will probably be more Tammie than Spy.

This was a lot of fun, not the funniest or tight comedy of the year by any means but there's something about Melissa that just makes me laugh out loud. There's a scene where they're planning a break-in and she starts flipping around everywhere like a ninja and it's just so much funnier because it's her I also found her whole character in this hilarious, she's literally not seen once without a turtleneck, it's so absurb but her character does provide pretty much 99% of the laughs. Not one of her better films in comparison to Spy and Bridesmaids etc. but certainly funnier than Tammy so that's good.

I'd say this is easily her second best (non-Bridesmaids) film, obviously behind Spy. The Heat was also very good, but there's something about how LUDICROUS most of this is that just worked for me. The massive street fight between the children and her HATRED for Helen all just tipped it over into very, very funny for me. Yes it's pretty light on actual plot, strains credulity and has almost nothing to say, but it's a comedy and it made me laugh more than any other movie this year.

This was absolutely awful and has been rightfully slated. Peter was terrible as the villain, and while Melissa was likable as ever, the script was just dire. There is no way that it's anywhere nearly as good as The Heat!

She needs to ditch her husband (professionally) and stick with Paul Feig (yay for Ghostbusters being very close!). It was better than Tammy but that's not saying much, it had a few laughs / one-liners that I liked that make it feel like I'm underrating it with a 6/10, but overall it's no more than that. Peter Dinklage didn't work for me and a large part of the movie is about them selling brownies..? Not really what I'm looking for in a plot.

I thought this was hilarious! It's not her best character but Melissa completely held the movie and Kristen was good as the sidekick.
The tall girl selling brownies, when they're breaking in to the building and the street fight had me in stitches |

I thought this was actually QUITE GOOD, were we really expecting this to reinvent the wheel? I really don't understand the hate, for me it ticked all the boxes as I was laughing out loud throughout!
If I were to rank films where Melissa plays a prominent role: Bridesmaids Spy The Boss Identity Thief The Heat Tammy The last two fall below par, but the Top 6 are hilarious! I haven't listed films that I haven't seen (St. Vincent, I'm looking atchoo) |

There's no way it in any way can be called 'below par' and is worse than The Boss or Identity Thief. The Sandra/Melissa chemistry is dynamite. |

It's below par, but I guess it is a masterpiece in comparison to Tammy! I don't know, something about it just doesn't hit all the spots for me, maybe I need to refamiliarise myself with it...

Well yes, Tammy is crap but The Heat is possibly one of my favourite comedies of the last few years. The one-liners are just superb. The Paul Feig/Melissa trilogy of Bridesmaids/The Heat/Spy are so good and I can't wait for the next one - Ghostbusters! |

I found it quite funny, like others have mentioned the big fight seen was one of the stand out parts.
Simple on plot nothing ground breaking simple viewing for an hour and half away from real world fitted the bill perfectly for me. As far as Melissa films rank for me Spy Bridesmaids Identity Thief The Boss The Heat St Vincent Tammy |

Melissa films ranked my critical acclaim:
Spy - 92% -FRESH (Audience: 79%) Bridesmaids - 89% FRESH (76%) St. Vincent - 77% - FRESH (79%) The Heat - 67% FRESH (71%) -- Tammy - 23% - ROTTEN (37%) The Boss - 22% - ROTTEN (43%) Identity Thief - 20% - ROTTEN (53%) Basically only her PF collabs have been a success in this respect as well as St. Vincent where she doesn't really play a comedy character in the same way. My rank: The Heat Bridesmaids Spy St. Vincent Tammy The Boss Identity Thief |

The Heat
Spy Identity Thief Bridesmaids Tammy Not seen The Boss but I am guessing it'll beat Bridesmaids for me, which I find good but seriously overrated. |
