Out this Friday.
From https://twitter.com/justinbieber/status/896857687081721856:
Oh no please just no.
Oh I was hoping for the Ellie Goulding one. Looks like that won't be released then!
YASSSSSSSSSSS
Julia Michaels posted https://www.instagram.com/p/BXwIdMNFckc/ on Instagram and she tagged Justin Tranter, Bloodpop and Justin Bieber on it. She didn't tag Martin Garrix (unless she forgot?), so I guess that he isn't involved in the song as I was thinking. That said, if this is true, looks like this will be Justin's lead single instead of another collaboration.
Going by Twitter it does look more like Justin's lead single although I've seen that it either features or is produced by Martin Garrix, as opposed to it being his own single?
If I remember correctly, Justin was the first person to announce "2U" instead of David Guetta on Twitter, so this seemed to follow the same pattern, but Martin hasn't posted anything yet. Also, the inclusion of Bloodpop seems that he was the one who produced the track.
Oh for f***'s sake
Bieber AGAIN? ok so 2U, Despacito and most of his other songs in the past couple of years have been great but it's getting boring seeing him appear in every song and constantly Number One on the chart
only appears on BOPS tho
Here for Garrix.
Title is giving me What Do U Mean? teas!!!
Just when we thought we'd have a bit of a break from the Biebs
I would be angry but about another bieber collab but it's Martin so I'm perfectly ok with it tbh
This doesn't feature Martin. Kind of annoying this is happening tbh, I imagine Taylor will struggle to dethrone this now
:/
1 minute LQ clip: https://twitter.com/unreleasedsongs/status/896867879341117440
Boring.
Can guarantee it'll be no better than 'There For You' or 'Scared To Be Lonely' as well.
FOR f***S SAKE
JUST when the charts are getting interesting for once and the #1 turnover is speeding up, he has to come along and shit on our parade literally cannot be arsed to have him at #1 until October
Let's move this into pop then?
Moved for you!
Must admit, when he cancelled his tour I was expecting him to maybe come back with new music April/May time. Guess this means hopefully another album in Q4?
Thanks Rooney!
Loving the sound of it in LQ! I can't believe I'm an actual Belieber now.
Hoping for another 'Sorry'.
A shame that he could release literally ANYTHING and it'd go #01 though, I hate it when artists get to that level.
I find that release date peculiar because it could mean Justin stops himself from matching the One Sweet Day record on the Hot 100.
Yaaaay, this is exciting! Bring it on! He brings hit after hit!
The record label could be releasing it without him and seeing how it does without promo, if he's taking some time off.
Can we have a shocker that misses the Top 10 please?
It's actually called ''Friends'' and it's joint collaboration between Bieber and BloodPop. Coming Thursday.
https://twitter.com/justinbieber/status/897101234426990593
Definitely here for that BloodPop production as he co-produced Sorry and I'll Show You so I'm hoping for another banger.
Really exciting!
I thought Bloodpop was working with Ellie Goulding for a summer track? Mess
It's called Friends and is out Thursday 17th August.
This is going to be killer going on Bloodpop's inclusion and what they've done in the past. Will be released just in time for my holiday abroad so I hope it's good enough to DEFINE that week for me <3
Really hyped for this, the clip sounds great so I hope the full thing hits the spot!
Why do all these popstars insist on releasing on thursdays
They changed the general release date to friday for a reason
My local radio station were hyping this already saying they'd have the first play in just under 48 hours! Clearly they aren't sick of playing him just yet
Yeah I do think the Thursday release sort of takes away from the hype of new music Friday and as you say, this release is going to be the massive new release whenever it premieres. The only plus point is we get to hear it a day early so can't really complain
Yeah I get releasing on a Thursday for maybe a lower level artist, but Pink and Justin have done it for the past 2 weeks and in both cases they're the biggest names of that week who really didn't have to do it

Whew, King.
That chorus sounds so lazy
Sounds good to me!
I can't listen whilst at work, but I'm curious. Please tell me it's not a Chainsmokers soundalike?
Yeah it's not really Chainsmokers but it's no less generic It sounds quite good though, I'd say it sounds like a Poundland Sorry.
I'm trying to avoid the snippets and keep anticipation high for tomorrow, but if it's even remotely like Sorry then I'll be more than satisfied.
Well, 'Sorry' is his magnum opus so if it can even be half as good...
8 hours!!
So excited!!
BRING IT ON
*is a mess*
LISTENING ON RADIO 1
BOPS SO HARD
Just heard the premiere, sounds absolutely MASSIVE
On Spotify! Ooh this is a bit of a bop.
Absolutely ADORE. Not too far a departure from past hits but still seems like a natural progression. MASSIVE SONG OF THE SUMMER.
I didn't want to like it (can't be here for another 10 week #1) but I do like it. I was expecting some tired Chainsmokers-esque song, but it reminds of Style/Your Type/Cheyenne which of course is a sound I love. I think I'd prefer someone else singing it, but it's another solid song from Justin.
Although... judging by the chart performances of those three I do think this won't be quite as successful as his three mega hits from last era. So a win win! Good song but not going to stop the likes of Taylor from getting to #1 in a couple of weeks.
This is so much better than I expected, ofc it will be a multi week number 1 as it's him but as Ryan said this dark-pop for want of a better phrae sort of sound doesn't really catch on so I can't see it being another 10 weeker Dua and Taylor remain unbothered x
But I LOVE the sound and it's a banger, I'm so glad he did something a bit different rather than just Chainsmokers lite. The chorus is eh though, but solid 9/10 on first listen.
Really good; the drop is a bit generic, but his vocals and passion in the lyrics make up for it.
THIS IS AMAZING.
Yeah, this is a tad generic and Bieber by numbers but I do have to say I am liking it a lot.
Much better than any of his recent collabs.
The drop is nothing to write home about but otherwise this is sounding great *.* 'Style' and 'Cheyenne' that Ryan mentions are good soundalikes and I love both of those.
It's so incredibly similar to sorry, the latter is still better though.
The Style/Your Type/Cheyenne comparison is really quite spot on! I was hoping we'd get more of those in 2015, so if this can be absolutely MASSIVE and spark that trend properly I'm all for it! It's not a million miles away from 'Been You' I'd say.
I'm so unbelievably glad it's not tropical or Chainsmokers-lite as I always feared his next lead single would be. Basically, he's done it again and this is FAB! All for this being a multi-week #1.
This is decent, a bit generic but I'm into it
not the best he's ever done but I'm glad he is moving on from tropical pop.
It's good, not as good as 'Sorry' or even 'What Do You Mean?' on first listen to me but still really good. So much better than any of Despacito / 2U / Cold Water ever were.
It's been uploaded to Bloodpop's youtube, so does that mean this is more of a Bloodpop single rather than a Justin one? Maybe similarly to Kygo & Selena 'It Ain't Me'?
No one else hearing Dancing On My Own on the beat?
Loveeeeeeeee
Generic has never been a negative in my eyes and it's certainly the case here - on first listen, what a fantastic song. So instant, if I didn't listen for another 24 hours, I'd remember the hook and the drop.
LOVE the production, this is fantastic <3.
Had one listen to it. I'm underwhelmed, but I still like it. I'll listen to it some more, soon. But for now it's good, not great.
"Wondering if you think about me...actually, don't answer that"
Omg I really like this song!
L O V I N G T H I S
This actually sounds more like Marshmello - Ritual mixed with his stuff from Purpose more than anything! Something that I expected from the teaser bc I didn't hear Chainsmokers at all from the start.
Yeah i'm addicted ~
Really good song.
I wonder if this will be another big hit for him.
Decent song. The production is fab!
Not really feeling this. Such a step down in quality from 'Purpose' for me.
The production is the winner - it is fab. I must say I find the verses a bit weak, but I can relate to the song SO much.
Another great effort, I think the synths are on point.
Pretty much can't get enough of this.
I should really dislike this due to these 'drops' that seemingly infiltrate EVERY song these days, but I'm quite liking it on the first listen, and pretty good production for a song of it's type ;o
I don't think it sounds anything like the Chainsmokers, so I dunno where people are getting that from lol
i rly like it but when is Bloodpop ever bad i'd love for justin to do something like 'Phone Sex' in future!
It's not too bad but on first listen it's not really exciting me all that much like WDYM and Sorry.
My favorite part of the song is when the second chorus ends and the third immediately starts.
MessT the VEVO was a fake one lmaoo
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwoNWlJVaudB6QLD_JH70JA/videos
Wow! Only just got around to listening but it's absolutely fantastic, a great follow-up to the 'Purpose' era singles.
I'm getting absolutely zero enjoyment from this. It's crap.
Same here, it's so uninteresting.
Odd because I normally love Bloodpop productions but this one is so beige. Not getting the love for the production at all.
A bit disappointed in this to be honest, I think it's decent but I've always found this sort of song style (similar to Perfect, Style, Cheyenne etc. as previously mentioned) are my least favourites by those artists. I am quite enjoying it but I prefer my choruses a bit more explosive whereas this feels a bit plodding to me, I really like the "Sorry"-esque drop though but even then it feels a bit been there, done that and done better on that track so not sure I'll be going back to this much in the future. I much prefer his recent features (even Despacito is still a bop if I look past how it became ridiculously overplayed! )
It's alright but I do think it'll grow on me more. Obviously not a PATCH on 'Sorry'
I've just realised the drop sounds like Olivia Holt's History!
#3 in the mids today! Not quite the easy #1 we thought but another top 5 hit will be fantastic
Hopefully it's a long running hit with streaming working in its favour! Looking for a strong debut though regardless.
I feel like I'm the only person here getting more Do What U Want/Love Me Harder (with a smidge of I Feel It Coming) comparisons than Style/Cheyenne
I wonder if this will get a video. Not like his videos are very good nowadays
I really hope it does but I can see him not bothering tbh
#2 in the end! Not the #1 we predicted but still great! His 4th #2 peak.
I'll take #2! Now all we need is some good staying power
#2 is a FANTASTIC debut Thought it'd be closer to ~3/4 throughout the week. Now to stick around please x
#5 in today's midweeks, should keep top 5 which is fab. It seems to be benefiting from performing consistently on both iTunes and Spotify, while the songs around it are doing better on either one or the other
Don't believe I have commented on this yet. I really love the production; I'm always a sucker for those synthy/electro-poppy (idk) sounds of 'Cheyenne'/'Your Type'/'Style' and that's the main thing to draw me to the song. It makes typical features such as minimal, repeated lyrics and drops actually work. Quite looking forward to hearing this in the club although, as others have said, 'Sorry' will easily remain his best and is a guaranteed floorfiller.
Four weeks in the top 10 now, a chart run of 2-5-4-6 hopefully a lengthy run is in store but I think it'll probably get to week 10 and be hit with ACR
It's done very decently! Underwhelming compared to the songs that came before it, but far from a flop.
Yep, 5 weeks in the Top 10 is definitely nothing to turn your nose up at! I do hope he remains quiet for at least 6 month, I want it to feel like an event when he comes back.
Yeah that was the big problem here - it wasn't as much of an event because we've had a Justin oversaturation already this year. Nevertheless, it's far from a flop, and hopefully in the long run it'll be a comfortable platinum seller!
I still can't get over how bad this is and I actually did like "Sorry" at some point, I'm glad its not been as big as the singles from 'Purpose' because it really doesn't deserve to be.
Apparently there's a Julia Michaels remix coming out tomorrow?! Interested to hear it because I loved "Issues" but she hasn't done anything anywhere near as good as that since.
I really love this, it deserved better.
I still love this too. I listen to it all the time and it's one of my favourite ever Bieber tracks.
This was such a non-event. My least favourite of his for a long time.
This is my favourite of his after Sorry! Really love it!
I can see why over-exposure may have hindered its debut, but I don’t think you can blame it on the overall performance (which wasn’t bad, just somewhat underwhelming for him). Little Mix released the same week as him and have suffered very similar chart-overexposure and their single has done a lot better overall. Either people weren’t into the song or they’re not as into Bieber as they were before.
Yeah I think over-exposure affected this song for the duration of its run, the public aren't gonna suddenly get over that in 1 week unfortunately. Airplay has been very low for a Justin single too. Hopefully he comes back in style after a break!
It's..... unbelievably pointless :') not that I expected much more really.
Almost as pointless as the Ariana WDYM feature
Omg Julia sounds awful on this! :') As if she agreed to this being released as an official remix.
I really liked Julia Michaels from "Issues" but she does sound awful on this! Was "Issues" a fluke or is her voice really that painful?!
This is out of the Billboard Hot 100 after only ten weeks on the chart. Such a poor performance but it is the laziest thing he's released since 2013, so~
It's more for BloodPop's campaign I guess so it's no real reflection on Justin but I had hoped for a better performance. I definitely disagree with it being lazy anyway, it still sounds really fresh to me and it's one of his most honest songs of recent-ish times.
CD single of this is out on the 16th! What random timing! The Julia Michaels remix is the b-side.
