Sunday Chart Predictions
Predicting the 11/01 to 17/01 chart

Its sales were down last week however Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk!' should be safe for a fourth week at #1. Hoping to break into the Top 10 is 'Promesses' by French DJ Tchami and singer Kaleem Taylor whilst Tulisa's 'Living Without You' should enter further down the Top 40 and Kanye West & Paul McCartney's 'Only One' may climb in its first full week of sales.

It's a dead week for new releases in the albums, meaning the #1 spot is open for Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran or George Ezra to receive another week on top.

Just looking at the lyrics of Tulisa's song for the subtitle - the double negative "without no safety" surely means she's falling with safety, no?

It's not quite as bad as the two double negatives in 'Into The Blue's chorus. tongue.gif

The worst offender I know is Example's 'Say Nothing'.

Hopefully normal services will resume this week after the Christmas break. The #1 album could be any of the top 3, with sales back to the norm, and the Brits nominations are just round the corner.

But Sia’s album has jumped from 72 to 7! Must be all the "song of the year" awards.

Impressive that “Promesses” is finally charting at 3 a full 5 months after first surfacing. Less impressive, the spelling.

Tulisa at 15 by the way. And that’s all your new entries this week.

^^ I doubt the Sia surge has nothing to do with any 'Song of the year' countdowns and more to do with the fact it was selling for 99p!

Hopefully it's sold enough to stay Top 10 and beat its original peak of #11!

Oh sad.gif well 'Elastic Heart' (despite it being really old now) is still the second best choice of single. I still don't know why she's left it so long after 'Chandelier' though, she should have kept that momentum going.

Posted by: ˇbré! 6th January 2015, 03:58 PM

Looks like Mint Royale isn't aware of what language the title of the Tchami song is in. (On that note hooray for Tchami being top 3 today! Seems like he should be fairly safe for the top 10 on Sunday). A little disappointing that Kanye isn't even top 10 in the first mids, though his lack of streaming isn't helping (showing 0% streaming sales so I'm assuming the song still hasn't been added to Spotify et al dry.gif Who does he think he is, Taylor Swift?)

'Thinking Out Loud' is registering 23% streaming sales which looks about right to me so I'm inclined to say no. That said, Mikey seems to know when streaming is missing but never bothers posting when it is so he'll be able to give a more definitive answer magic.gif

OneRepublic, Sia and J. Cole all currently poised for new peaks with their albums - probably won't last though as the 99p effect will fade away.

Nice climbs for '1000 Forms of Fear' and '2014 Forest Hills Drive' biggrin.gif

I don't think Sia releasing 'Elastic Heart' is as ludicrous as people are suggesting. Yes it is quite old, but it's never had any recognition really and it makes for an interesting single choice to follow on from 'Chandelier'. I don't think the timing is too off either, as 'Chandelier' is still huge around the world. What is strange is that The Weeknd doesn't seem to be featuring on it unsure.gif not sure that will work as well at all...

I am deeply upset that 'Big Girls Cry' isn't getting a release still cry.gif however that means that my campaigning for it to be single #3 officially beings NOW magic.gif

Do you happen to know the chart position for III and These Days, please?

Posted by: Hadji 7th January 2015, 04:23 PM

It looks like "Uptown Funk" could break 100,000 sales for a fifth consecutive week

Posted by: pippa 7th January 2015, 04:33 PM

Take That: These Days Number 16
Three Number 13

I did not foresee the sharp fall for These Days this week as it was top 10 until recently on itunes, streaming is going against it. Three holding up better than i expected, a 1 place drop is not bad considering many of the albums placed higher than it are selling at much cheaper prices.

Posted by: Mart!n 7th January 2015, 04:37 PM

Just realised why Frank Sinatra's album has shot back up, BBC1 had a show on Saturday, current acts singing his tracks.

And for anyone requesting positions for any acts, press the links with the current update, no need to ask.

I hope Ut F makes +100k again cheer.gif (which it probably will)
Phil seems to be doing the 'would've been #1 if it wasn't so much competition' drama.gif
And the 3-5 seems to be very fragile looking at the copies 'sold'. Anything could happen ohmy.gif
And like I predicted, Alesso has been knocked down to non-mover status by Hozier sad.gif

Can Real Love get to #10? thinking.gif

Great to see LAN climbing (a bit mellow.gif)

Posted by: pippa 7th January 2015, 04:55 PM

The top 3 albums are extremely close, anyone of them could end up number 1 on Sunday. As all three acts have already reached number 1 and sold excellently i doubt the outcome will bother any of them too much.

Yay at The War on Drugs' album unexpectedly rising from its position last week. Hope their record label re-push "Red Eyes" to radio to capitalize on it, and maybe see if the album can eventually repeak. Hopefully we'll see that album reaching Gold within the next few months (it was certified Silver recently, so it's not too far off).

No chance for Tulisa to stay inside the 40 come Sunday, its dropping so fast.

Posted by: Joe. 8th January 2015, 03:54 PM

Glad Beyonce is back in, hopefully she can beat the #36 peak on Sunday.

Posted by: mr_aly 8th January 2015, 04:11 PM

I think Tchami will fall to #6 on Sunday, with Ed #3, Olly/Demi #4 and Taylor #5. Shame, I'm really growing to like it.

Posted by: ˇbré! 8th January 2015, 04:15 PM

I think Tchami has a good chance of remaining top 5 now actually, courtesy of Taylor's lack of streaming (like Oliver Heldens a few weeks ago). Really amazed and pleased at how well he's done, from the pre-order's performance I was only expecting him to be low top 20 at best.

Posted by: smidsy101 8th January 2015, 04:17 PM

Tulisa really is struggling, it's having a bit of a "No Enemiesz" type problem, staying around the late-teens/mid-twenties on iTunes all week, yet falling further and further down the chart very quickly with each update!

Posted by: Mart!n 8th January 2015, 04:20 PM

I think the top 10 will look like

1 Mark Ronson
2 Philip George
3 Ed Sheeran
4 Olly Murs
5 Tchami
6 Taylor
7 Hozier (could even get to #6 after their performance on Graham Norton show)
8 Ben Haenow
9 Alesso
10 Meghan/Clean Bandit

Posted by: Joe. 8th January 2015, 04:20 PM

Tulisa has actually done better than I expected - With no major radio stations backing her, I expected a lot worse but her fan base remains stronger than I expected.

Hozier continues to improve in position with each update this week with Take Me To The Church. I would foresee his album re-peaking at some stage this year too. dance.gif

The top 3 albums is switching around on the updates too, it appears the number 1 could be any of the three but i believe Sam Smith may take it by a small margin at closing of the week.

Olly Murs as per usual is showing stability with his album which is always a pleasure to say as i am a fan, i would not be surprised if Up ends up managing to outsell Wrapped Up dance.gif

Echosmith are at #23 on iTunes and if they're being helped by streaming, they could sneak in. I hope "Yours" hasn't dropped out

Yours is at #38, but Ghost isn't

Yours deserves that extra week in the top 40,i hope it gets it.

No sign of 'Listen to the Man'. Can't see it making the Top 40 now. sad.gif

I think it will have dropped and not climbed. It's even fallen on Spotify so #41 it is for good I think.

Posted by: Mart!n 9th January 2015, 01:24 PM

Top 5 sales with the update.

Those albums are still pretty close, I should imagine Sam Smith will take it in the end.

Great to see that Tulisa hasn't dropped since yesterday, a top 40 place looking a bit more likely after all then? ohmy.gif

Posted by: Mart!n 9th January 2015, 01:40 PM

Ella Henderson [Ghost] @ #41 (most likely to edge out John Legend out of the 40 by Sunday)
James Bay @ #42
Cool Kids @ #44
Gorgon City @ #51

Nah I think James Bay will unless he plummets and hopefully Echosmith will if they continue to rise like they are. I guess it's streaming that's actually not putting them comfortably top 40 ohmy.gif

How come Clean Bandit is on the rise!?

I'm not sure. The Saturdays were #23 on Friday with WAYWF, and Tulisa's had a similar iTunes run. They then dropped 15 places by Sunday because of streaming, so she will probably just miss out on top 40.

Martin, any idea where Jessie Ware is in albums?

Posted by: ˇbré! 9th January 2015, 04:00 PM

Tulisa was quite far ahead of #30 yesterday so I'm not surprised she didn't fall today - she could still easily miss the top 40 as the rest of the songs in the top 40 have caught up a lot more now.

Suddenly less convinced of Tchami's chances of staying top 5, though I am sure he should remain at least #7. Wow at 'Real Love' re-entering the top 10!

Looking very likely that Sam will be #1 on the albums with Ed at #2, the first time that's happened so far (Ed was #3 in Sam's last two weeks at #1, and the earlier 2 weeks were before 'x' was released). The reverse has happened 3 times (the last 3 weeks of 2014).

Surprised that Blonde is soaring back up, but pleased!

Thank god Tulisa hasn't fallen! Fingers crossed now she can get top 40 official now!

A few changes in the top 5, it seems odd Tulisa has not fallen since yesterday, there must be some sales missing from somewhere.

You clearly don't have much confidence in Tulisa. laugh.gif

Given the rate she is selling (barely over 800 copies/day), I think she'll end up at #42-46. Not a bad result for a song with zero promo, but I think she'll be a little disappointed considering it was released in a completely dead week.

Not in the Top 100 I'm afraid!

Also, Ibre, I saw your gallery pic and I must say, it's an honourable thing you did by adding the "I am Charlie" slogan on there. I just hope we won't be seeing any more of these events this year (or ever)

Looks like Tchami is making a Promess of its chart run drama.gif

And Heroes who was destined for a 1 place climb is now threatened by Real Love!

The version of 'Uptown Funk' that was #1 was deleted and replaced by an album version that should overtake Philip George shortly. So no, sadly sad.gif

No chance. If for instance, "Uptown Funk" sells 200,000 copies on Sunday and stops selling throughout the week, it will have enough momentum for #1

Posted by: Taylor Jago 10th January 2015, 12:22 AM

Well, Philip George still was number one on iTunes for a brief time.

Posted by: Davidson 10th January 2015, 12:29 AM

I don't think Tulisa will manage top 40 tbh even though she is staying steady in mids. I can see a #46 peak calling.

Posted by: Taylor Jago 10th January 2015, 08:30 AM

Personally I think Wish You Were Mine could have been number one had it been released at an other time. I'm sure there will be weeks where the number one sells less than 80,000 copies.

Posted by: James Silkstone 10th January 2015, 09:52 AM

Gutted that it looks like Listen To The Man won't be reaching The Top 40. It's his best song.

Love Me Harder's never going anywhere near either. Sigh.

Oh yes biggrin.gif Rixton and SecondCity have been lucky to get #1s before, lower than 80k teresa.gif
A couple of times Happy was #2 selling over 100k!

And Ready For Your Love sold a lot at its first week for #4

It's all about sales, current competition, timing and promotion smile.gif

It's falling quickly now on Spotify and iTunes so I expected it'll end around 60-80 this week sad.gif
