So here we go, it's summer! Welcome to the fourth edition of Buzzjackfestivalen!
Now, before we start, this competition is based on the same format used in Melodifestivalen and it will tour the following four wonderful nations of Ashton, Daehun, Espen, and Bignia-Zaragovina. Each host will present a heat, and details on format are to be confirmed!
Before we begin the confirmation process, here are some little rules in addition to the normal BJSC rules:
- Songs must be a maximum of 3 minutes in length. They can be shorter if you wish, but not a second over 3:00. The video can be longer than 3 minutes, as long as the song itself is 3:00 or shorter. You can also enter a song longer than 3 minutes if you are willing to edit it down for the purposes of the competition. If there is any doubt then PM either myself, Yu, Silas or Jahq.
- No Eurovision or Junior Eurovision songs are allowed, nor are any songs that have competed in national finals for either of these competitions. Of course Eurovision artists are allowed, but not with the song(s) they entered with.
- Please at least TRY to be inspired. This is less strict than the regular BJSC but the mods reserve the right to flush anything that takes the piss. You've been warned!
Confirmations will take place the same way as the regular BJSC, via PM. Please send your confirmation to me (Cal), in the following format:

You MUST send an MP3 at some stage before confirmations close. I'll be responsible for collating and uploading the OFFICIAL Buzzjackfestivalen CD, so if you want your MP3 to be in it and of good quality then it's up to you to give it me. If I don't receive one then I'll be using whatever I find, so don't be awkward.
You are allowed to make TWO changes to your confirmation, so be sure of the song you want to send. I'd allow more but I'm stuck for time these days so make sure you're happy with your entry!
Confirmation closes FRIDAY MAY 29 @23:59. The Heats will hopefully go live on the Monday evening. However, all dates are provisional because we're STILL totalitarian flops.
Originally there will be only 24 of 28 places available (the 4 hosts automatically have a spot in a heat), but we can raise that number provided that we can do so in batches of four in order to ensure that each heat has an equal number of participants.

I was close to confirming an indie-ish track and then I was stuck between two acoustics, but in the end decided to go with Taahino's usual kinda thing 
It's either going to go down well or like a led balloon I think, but nonetheless I'm glad I can share this artist, I've considered them for BJSC before but it never really felt right to enter them into that

Ooh just checked and one of my old potentials that I never got around to sending to BJSC is JUST under 3 minutes (3:02 video but 2:57 on iTunes) so I have a backup if my song does get thrown out. Woop.

Damn I found a song with a video edit that's a few seconds above 2 minutes long, but the SoundCloud MP3 is twice that.
Would the video edit be good for the MP3 in that case?

Right, so the original 28 places are now full. But please keep confirming because we can expand this by another 12 if necessary. That would be 44 in total (11 per heat), which I think is fair.

Let's hope more than half the participants actually vote in the final this time! I get there isn't much of an incentive to vote when your entry's already out, but it'd be nice to have a final result that's at least mostly representative

There is no formalised veto framework in place but we still cast an eye over the entry list and seek alternates for things that really raise an eyebrow. Re-entering something we've vetoed more than raises an eyebrow.

Well the OP was kind of misleading saying there was no veto. Yes the artists are fairly well known but they aren't as well known as someone like Avicii/David Guetta etc.

It has been, not really a fair entry. There really should be a rule against submitting already vetoes to any contest and spin-off that has a veto system in place.

This is true, BUT I think the difference here is that On The Regular (and Shamir in BJSC I guess) is considerably less egregious when it comes to trying to get one past the veto/mods than a song from a multiple entrant remixed by another big name act who has had a UK #1 single.

I don't think it's necessarily fair to just say 'NO vetoed track can EVER be tried again'. The conditions that make a song veto worthy aren't always the same from month to month and especially if it's been a long time since the veto (On The Regular was vetoed last year, for example) then the hype may have died down and thus the song is no longer worthy of being vetoed. However, I do think it's something which needs to be clarified to try and avoid these situations in the future, but the wording of such an amendment is far trickier than it might initially seem.

It was an autoveto. It was on the R1 playlist at the start of the year and that's what made it a veto.
If it was to be re-entered into the normal contest this month it would have gotten through. Plus the veto tweak means that some of the points it got you can't even get points for anymore.
As much as I dislike vetoed tracks being re-entered, this one doesn't really annoy me much.

oh god having a bit of an Electro Velvet moment in that my entry sounds great in studio (Youtube) form but the live performance (mp3) is a bit dodgy :/ guess it's my own fault but surely a Youtube rip would've sufficed?

I was pretty surprised when I found that out as well! Arthur is a lot more Rastafari than I previously assumed ~
I hope people don't find my entry to be too ridiculous / cheap, I genuinely really adore the song independently of the show (which I never liked THAT much) and hope other people may be fans of it as a piece of music as well.
