QUOTE
THE Saturdays look set to be the first UK girl group to crack America since the Spice Girls after landing a big-money TV deal with E! Entertainment.

The All Fired Up fivesome will be flying to America in the next few weeks to put pen to paper and launch an assault on the charts.

Despite rumours that the girls are to split due to Una Healy being up the duff, I can reveal the group will:

● Sign a five-season deal with E! for their own reality TV series.
● Attempt to crack the US by signing a new deal with a US record label.
● Move to America (minus Una) after their UK tour finishes to set up home Stateside.

My Saturdays snitch told me: “This deal is huge for the girls.

“If it goes well it could transform them from a UK girl band to international stars.

“The series will show the girls trying to crack the States after landing a US record deal – which has already been lined up.

“US showbiz blogger Perez Hilton is expected to feature in the first episode as he champions the band and vows to help them become the next big thing.”

The deal could be a major break-through for the girls but it couldn’t have come at a worse time for preggers Una.

I’m told the Irish babe will miss part of the show’s first series because of her ever-expanding baby bump.

But before her fans start crying into their cornflakes I can reveal she WILL be making a comeback in the second series.

My insider added: “Una is gutted she can’t spend as much time in America as the others but she’s not leaving the group. She will be back with a bang for season two.”

It seems Up really is where the Sats go from here!

Daily Star

Sounds exciting, however considering the source it may not be true. smile.gif

The Daily Mail and Digital Spy are reporting it too...although they just give the Daily Star's article as their source.

I won't believe it until I heard the news from E! the group's team or the girls themselves.

I doubt it's true but it COULD be possible. I mean, Rochelle and Frankie said on Twitter their "diarys were full" and considering it's unlikely they're going to release a new album without Una, maybe it means they're going to be doing documentarys and promotion outside the UK?

I hate to be a pessimist because I'm a Sats loon, but I can't see it working. Then again, I can't think of the last time a UK girlband actually tried properly to crack the US with promo and everything. Girls Aloud 'soft released' their albums to US iTunes and I think Sugababes had a minor club hit with Hole In The Head and the wheels were in motion for a proper launch, with new tracks replacing some of the tracks on Three but it never went any further. So if they do it properly, maybe they will have a shot.

It would be really good for the girls, but I hope they don't start neglecting the UK like some acts do!

They wouldn't stand a chance out there. Many would argue they haven't even "cracked" the UK yet, and even us Sats fans know they're only the biggest UK girl group by default.

EDIT: LMAO a 5 season deal with E!? No such thing. Either it's a bunch of crap or they mean 5 episodes...

Not really. Scripted shows use to make a 7 seasons deal with everyone involved...but it only means that if the channel wants to keep the series, the actors can't leave until they complete the seventh season.

A five season deal would mean that the group can't stop doing the show unless the channel decides to stop the production. It doesn't mean that there will be five seasons for sure, it will happen only if the channel decides to renew the program year after year.

It's so corrupt but unfortunately so true.

Anyway, they won't ever make it in the US.

I am sorry but All Fired Up & Higher imo could have easily charted in the US... If they cracked the Us their overall music would get better as they would get more high profile producers.

It can't be true, their hardly going to be able to promote one member down in ONE region. Let alone, multiple regions.

I don't really believe it too, if i'm being honest. sad.gif

Just out of interest what could you guys seeing being hits out of the things they have released?

01 Up
02 Issues
03 Work
04 Ego
05 Higher (feat. Flo Rida)
06 Notorious
07 All Fired Up
08 My Heart Takes Over

Interestingly enough I find that all of the singles so far from 'On Your Radar' could fit in with the American chart scene. Out of those eight I think these three would perform the best... All Fired Up would do well because it's dancey, Higher would do well because it has a great hook and obviously because of Flo Rida, and My Heart Takes Over could also do well I think because Americans like a big ballad now and then. biggrin.gif

Hmm, interesting. On Popjustice someone had pulled a tweet from someone 'close' to them saying that they where going to announce it all in 2 months but their gonna have to confirm it sooner or something like that.

It could be convienient for them though with Una being preggers and all.. I don't think it would stop them from going over. Not that I think their going to 'crack' the states. They've hardly got a massive success story to sell over there. But who knows. They've said many times that they want to 'crack' the UK first and other Euro countries first before the US.

However if you where offered this deal on a plate I'm sure you'd hardly turn it down just because you want to crack other countries first..

I hope its true as i'd love to seem them do a concert over here, regardless of whether or not they actually make it, some of their tracks i think have a shot at doing something, I think Higher is the best choice to launch them, but i can see Work and Up doing well too, that being said, this might not happen for a while...or even ever since Una is having a baby soon, and im not sure what the future holds in terms of that, still you never know, it could happen!

The New York Post and RTE are reporting that they'll start the recording in a matter of weeks:

http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/girl_group...nv58mrPUNtJoDuJ

http://www.rte.ie/ten/2012/0424/saturdays.html

I can see the Daily Mail making a piece of news based on unfounded rumours, but the NY Post doesn't need to make up something about The Saturdays...so this might be going ahead after all.

I'm interested to see how they're going to tackle this. I just hope Vanessa tries to sort her voice out and they launch with either Higher or All Fired Up. Who is going to watch a documentary about a random girlband, though?

That's what I thought. Other than some fans that they might have over there, who will be watching it? Unless maybe they launch with a single first and hope that it does well to gain more interest for the show.

They'd probably need to bag themselves some chat show appearances (Ellen?) and promote themselves everywhere and anywhere they can.

I just don't think they have the work ethic to do that, though.
