Chart Commentary
Last week saw the first ever Eurovision-related top 2 in my chart after FO&O and Anton Hagman debuted at #1 and #2 respectively with their Melodifestivalen 2017 entries. This week, with a non-moving top 2, it's extended to the top 3 as Benjamin Ingrosso enters at #3 with his entry Good Lovin'. It's Benjamin's fourth chart hit, following #1 hit Fall in Love plus Crystal Clear and Love You Again which impacted around the same time. Good Lovin' is only his second top 10 hit, but it marks the third top 10 hit from this year's Melodifestivalen, which is the best since 2013 saw Ulrik Munther, Janet Leon and Martin Rolinski all make my top 10 at one point or another. Benjamin Ingrosso 2016 24 Love You Again | 3 | 37-24-33-X (3 weeks) 2016 01 Fall In Love | 1 | 1-2-6-11-19-28-38-X (7 weeks) 2016 29 Crystal Clear | 2 | 29-X (1 week) 2017 03 Good Lovin' | 4 | 3-... (1+ weeks) British singer/songwriter The Beach first appeared on my chart last year with his major debut single Geronimo, which peaked at #6. The follow-up Bite My Tongue debuted earlier this year at #12 and now rises to a new peak of #8 on its seventh week. In its seventh week, Geronimo had been out of my chart for a month! The Beach 2016 06 Geronimo | 1 | 6-15-30-X (3 weeks) 2017 08 Bite My Tongue | 2 | 12-18-31-36-40-10-8-... (7+ weeks) The top 10 this week is unusually static, as the top 2 don't move and last week's 3-6 songs are shifted down one place each. However, there is a lot more movement outside the top 10. We see chart debuts from Era Istrefi, Felix Snow and Isaiah, plus new personal bests for All Time Low, James TW, Rag'n'Bone Man and Alessia Cara, and Lorde also who instantly outpeaks her previous best (#40 for Team) despite the limited availability of Green Light before I typed up my chart on Friday night. Lana Del Rey also makes her return to my chart, achieving her best peak since Summertime Sadness in 2013. Her best peak remains #10 for Born To Die in some of my earliest charts back in 2012! Despite putting up a strong fight in the early days of the week, Bebe Rexha drops off the top spot in the album chart this week as she's overtaken by Ed Sheeran, who grabs his second #1 album. Hi Joseph
A non mover top 2. So, Benjamin is Sebastian Ingrosso cousin. I've heard Good Lovin' and I liked it. Good pop song. My fave new entries are: Stay, Love and Green Light. So happy Stay is UK top 40. On the other hand, Lana is very unlucky at moment. #42, #41 and probalby #62 next Friday. Love should've been a big hit, it's her best single yet imo. Lorde is back with an euphoric song, really love it. Good chart. |

Hi Joseph!
Seems to, quite fittingly, be a lot of love for 'Love' on Buzzjack, but I'm afraid I don't share that sentiment. It was suggested that Lana would be returning to her Born To Die sound and I was really excited by that after not being impressed by the two albums that had followed, so it's a shame I've found myself in a position of being even more disappointed than before. Perhaps there will be better on the album; I'd settle for at least a couple of 'Shades of Cool' or 'Brooklyn Baby' moments like Ultraviolence had - songs with poignant, sweet melodies alongside the moody/droning sound she goes for now. Nice to see Lorde just sneak in - I hope it climbs big next week! I liked it from the first listen but I didn't anticipate it to grow as quickly as it did and for me to end up really stanning for it. The piano that kicks in for the pre-chorus instantly lifts the song before exploding into an absolute euphoria of a chorus! Love! |

Hi Joseph!
I do not know any of your top 3, is Benjamin any relation to Sebastian? Redrum was a bit of a comedown from Bonbon IMO, maybe will need a few more listens. Great new entries from Zedd & Lana! I'm glad the former made the top 40 just in time. And liking Lorde's new track, I'm doubtful if the album will be better than Pure Heroine but you never know. |

Hi Joseph!
Don't know your top 3 but Kygo and Katy Perry hanging in the top 5 is good to see. Era Istrefi's new song is great also, I do like the chilled production. Definitely a comedown from 'Bonbon' but a song that good is always hard to follow. Not truly getting into 'Digital Love', it's spent a few weeks in the lower end of my hot 100 but isn't going anywhere. DFA can do better really. Also very disappointed with Zedd's 'Stay' 'Green Light' is a great comeback though, hopefully it climbs your chart a lot next week. |

Hey Joseph! Fab chart on the whole, that #4-#9 section (bar that beach one!) are all incredible and up there with the best of the year so far!! Yassss at my personal top 3 this week all being new entries here as well!! Hope Love/Wild Child/Green Light all climb here next week! Hi Sam, thank you for commenting Not sure about the other two but Green Light is a surefire climber in my next chart! Hi Joseph A non mover top 2. So, Benjamin is Sebastian Ingrosso cousin. I've heard Good Lovin' and I liked it. Good pop song. My fave new entries are: Stay, Love and Green Light. So happy Stay is UK top 40. Lorde is back with an euphoric song, really love it. Good chart. Hey Jason, thanks for commenting! I didn't think Benjamin and Sebastian were related tbh but glad you're liking it!! I never expected Stay to debut top 40 but I'm glad it did, it looks set to be a big hit! Lana's very unlucky, I hope it can sneak a week at some point still. Omg 'Sing'!!! Ed Sheeran's first EVER #1 Wait, The Beach is just one person? Did he meet himself in a cafe? You know what 'Ciao Adios' needs? A Kent Jones feature, just to start the song with "hola x" thanks Jord *.* Ed Sheeran's first EVER UK #1 in his very long career *.* I think he must have done tbh !!! I never knew I needed that in my life *_* Hi Joseph! Melfest impacting your top three Who knew twinks would slay so badly Like that Digital Farm Animals song! Wild Child is a massive bop New Zedd song Stay is proper hitting me this week Hope Lana can climb poor cow LORDE is amazing i love it Great Chart Hey Harry, thanks for commenting am I that predictable x Hi Joseph, Love your no 1 and 2. Benjamin Ingrosso your higest new entry Love all new entries this week! Sia and Ed Sheeran gone after only 1 week Great chart!! Hey Sven, thanks for commenting Hi Joseph! The piano that kicks in for the pre-chorus instantly lifts the song before exploding into an absolute euphoria of a chorus! Love! Hey Liam, thanks for commenting!! Shame to hear you're not liking Love that much, I mean I agree it's not as good as a lot of the Born to Die songs but I think it's her best single since then, I've not really liked much in between. I don't love it quite as much as many on here but it's a nice track for sure, I'd like to see it make the official top 40 at some point! Just hoping the album is of a good quality, I couldn't make it through the entire Honeymoon album, I was so bored Lorde will definitely be climbing nice and high next week! It's so euphoric, and I'd instantly say it's my favourite song of hers as whilst I enjoyed the first album, I didn't *love* it. The piano parts are excellent Hi Joseph! 7. Bebe Rexha feat. G-Eazy - F.F.F. - 6-7- Just given the EP a listen, I have to say I'm not that impressed. Was rather underwhelmed by this song in particular 10. Zak Abel - Unstable - 10-4-9-10- Rapidly growing on me! 26. Zedd & Alessia Cara - Stay - 26- This is pretty good I guess, and should become a hit depending on how long the Ed Sheeran domination continues 29. Lana Del Rey - Love - 29- Another great single from her, would still be nice to hear something more upbeat from her but she does do this kind of melancholy song very well! 39. Lorde - Green Light - 39- I don't quite get the massive fuss everyone is making over her comeback if I'm honest. That's not to say this isn't a great song, it is, but I just didn't realise how well received it would be! Great stuff Hi Mango, thanks for the comments! 7. Shame to hear you're not into this or the EP, I was pleasantly surprised by both! Never expected to enjoy her EP as much as I do, and F.F.F is definitely her best track to date. 10. Yaaay! Hope it doesn't stall on the c-list like it seems to have done this week 39. I'm quite surprised by quite how well people have taken to Green Light but no complaints from me, it's a fantastic song and easily my favourite of hers to date Hi Joseph! Hey Dobbo, thanks for commenting My entire top 3 this week is from Melodifestivalen so that might be why! Benjamin isn't any relation to Sebastian that I know of! Bonbon was quite good but Redrum is better for me, the breakdown part is really unique and chilled, and that adds to its charm for me. I quite liked Pure Heroine actually despite never being big on Royals, but Green Light has set my expectations much higher than they otherwise were, hopefully she delivers Hi Joseph! Hey Dan, thanks for commenting!! Era's song surprised me, I do quite like Bonbon but I didn't expect to like Redrum as much as I do, especially as Felix Snow had a song with Conrad Sewell and I didn't really like it. Digital Love took a few listens to grow on me but I really can't resist it now I think Zedd can do better than Stay but it's a good song nonetheless, would like to see it do well officially! Hi Joseph, Everyday dropping hard after the releaso of the video Nice entry for Lorde and Zedd Hunter Hayes He's so cute Kygo and Selena and Katy already dropping Hey Seltin! I've not actually seen the video for Everyday Hunter is really cute, I agree |
