Bey and Jay just dropped a joint album omgggg they apparently announced it on stage?!

Exclusively on f***ing Tidal ofc

Posted by: Bitch 16th June 2018, 09:44 PM

So I assume they start these songs on tour as well? Kinda disrespectful to the first few tourdatea :')

Im not here for this. I want a Bey album, Jay's voice makes my skin crawl

Posted by: HarryEzra 16th June 2018, 10:06 PM

I'm here for the joint album but a massive eye roll at it being exclusively released to tidal.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 16th June 2018, 10:16 PM

6 months Tidal free subscription

Posted by: SGrey 16th June 2018, 10:52 PM

Yes was announced at the end of tonights show - they debuted a clip which I got most of on my iPod!

Posted by: Euphorique 16th June 2018, 11:58 PM

Damn. Was there really demand for a joint album? Wish it was just a single to promote the tour when it started, and then be done with it.

EDIT: listen to the album. Very average.

Posted by: Dexton 17th June 2018, 12:51 AM

^^ there was from me and Apeshit does not disappoint *.* Bey rapping was such a surprise and Jay sounds better on this than he did on most of 4:44. Quavo & Offset ad libs weren’t necessary but that’s Pharrell all over tongue.gif

Worth getting Tidal for tbh

Posted by: Euphorique 17th June 2018, 12:58 AM

The reason why her 2013 reinvention was so powerful was because she did the unexpected in a lot of aspects. But now, 5 years later, secrecy, unconventional releases and a projection of grandeur is what we've come to expect from her. The joint album is whatever, but I feel like if her next album follows that path, people will grow tired.

I'd love to see her switch it up next time.

QUOTE
Last November, JAY also told The New York Times that a project with Bey started coming together as they worked on 4:44 and Lemonade. “We were using our art almost like a therapy session,” he said at the time. “And we started making music together.” He explained that, because Bey’s music was progressing more quickly, Lemonade ended up coming out “as opposed to the joint album that [they]were working on.”

Lemonade, 4:44, and Everything Is Love are obviously a trilogy and this being the culmination of their separate projects with a happy ending (Lovehappy wub.gif). I wonder if the original plan was to release them closer together, maybe their separate albums at the same time, and then this whilst they tour together?

Didn’t see you'd already posted the video Liam laugh.gif

It really was a moment last night announcing this. I do agree with some of the points it is unfair on some of the earlier shows but I am wondering whether it’s happened to try and attract more interest to sustain the tour after the initial complaints of it all being too samey came around.

Posted by: Theo. 17th June 2018, 04:14 PM

So can you actually buy this anywhere?!

Posted by: blacksquare 17th June 2018, 04:21 PM

In awe

So good

Posted by: SGrey 17th June 2018, 07:53 PM

I reckon it'll be the Lemonade strategy with the physical coming about a fortnight after release sad.gif

You can buy a digital file of the album from the tidal website for £9.99

Posted by: Andrew. 18th June 2018, 12:52 AM

What’s the point of keeping the album off Apple/Spotify? :’) this is 2018 and I know Beyonce’s ego has been getting bigger and bigger lately but even Taylor realised it’s just silly now.

To make people pay for Tidal tongue.gif

Posted by: mdh 18th June 2018, 10:51 AM

Her rapping about how she 'didn't give two f***s about streaming numbers' and then giving in and putting the album on Spotify is one of the most pretentious and embarassing things I've seen all year.

The album is completely substanceless too, nothing of interest going on here other than Beyoncé constantly disillusioning herself that she's superior to everyone. Jay is the highlight here and that's saying something. Don't think I'll be going back to anything on here again.

Posted by: Tombo 18th June 2018, 11:04 AM

I’m glad this is on Spotify now but Lemonade still isn’t sad.gif

Posted by: UltraReputation 18th June 2018, 12:10 PM

I've heard half of this and it's horrific drama.gif

Posted by: HarryEzra 18th June 2018, 12:20 PM

Oh since its on Spotify giving it a listen (Bey release lemonade on Spotify next tongue.gif)

Posted by: Dexton 18th June 2018, 12:33 PM

Perhaps it’s an album more suited to people who like Jay as well as Bey, unlike some of the people here I think tongue.gif

Posted by: vibe 18th June 2018, 12:55 PM

its ok on first listen , i just feel that most songs sound all the same.

But they're giving away free 6 month subscriptions. I really just don't understand the point in them continuing to make that happen. I'm glad that they've added it to other platforms so swiftly though. I'll give it a listen later.

Posted by: HarryEzra 18th June 2018, 03:14 PM

So its been changed that only people with Spotify premium can access it until 2nd July laugh.gif

I was trying to listen to it as I got sidetracked only heard three songs sad.gif

There's only so many times you can see her get in formation with her dancers in a synchronized routine, have them "underneath her" hinting at her being a dynasty, in pretentious settings like the Louvre. It's all a bit much for me. Her saying "Beysus" was so cringy.
Cant remember the last time I hummed a melody to a Beyonce song. It's not bad per se, just bored with it.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 18th June 2018, 03:24 PM

Apeshit really goes the hell off ! I’m enjoying the majority of the album so far as well biggrin.gif

Posted by: Liаm 18th June 2018, 03:26 PM

It's not terrible but it's just not for me, it all sounds the same with Apeshit and LOVEHAPPY being the only real highlights and I don't think I'll go back to it as a whole body of work tbh. For an artist like Beyonce who has been so sonically diverse and experimenting with (successfully) so many different sounds on self-titled and Lemonade, this is such disappointing urban fodder. Pretty much any rapper with a bit of a budget and some production could do this, it's a step up from that awful "soundcloud rap" I guess but eh

Posted by: Euphorique 18th June 2018, 03:48 PM

To be fair this album has been in the works (or rumoured) for quite some time though, which I guess why it sounds a bit dated to me. Apeshit could really have been on Future's album back in 2014/2015...

Totally with you on this. I get that she has 'nothing to prove' etc. but she could at least use her freedom to put out whatever for a decent purpose, like releasing something meaningful and topical. It's like she's got some weird obsession with affirming how brilliant she is to everyone, when in comparison to so many artists out there, what she's releasing is pretty mediocre.

The big fan of both "Lemonade" & "4:44" has logged on to say that this is sounding really strong on first listen.

To be fair Beyoncé has always had that element about her, it's nothing new! laugh.gif

Yeah, it is tiring though. So lyrically formulaic and boring.

Posted by: Jüpiter 19th June 2018, 06:56 AM

I like it, but then, nothing she did pre Lemonade excited me, so I'm probably not a good sample.

Posted by: blacksquare 19th June 2018, 08:56 AM

I disagree with a lot of the comments here - the album is a celebration of black success and extravagance, as well as a bookend to what started with Lemonade. It's not as shallow as people think.

Shooting the video in the Louvre is a statement in itself - European art has historically been exclusionary to people of colour. The image of a black woman combing hair in front of the Mona Lisa is powerful. The entire video is.

They're proud of everything they've achieved as two black artists, and they should be.

I guess so! laugh.gif

Standard album price though really, especially if fans wanted to buy the album from SOMEWHERE if it had never ended up getting a release on iTunes like the day after.

The album is... okay. Not a massive fan but I kinda expected nothing else other than this kind of direction if Jay-Z is supposed to provide 50% of the contribution.

Agree with all of this ! Loving the Album it gets better and better the more I listen to it .

There's a few gems on this album - APESHIT is amazing. Friends and Heard About Us are both lovely too. Beyonce's vocals at the end of Friends is *.*

Posted by: Theo. 19th June 2018, 09:05 PM

Yeah I've had "Apeshit" in my head all day. I've only listened through once though so will give the rest chance to grow on me.

Posted by: Theo. 22nd June 2018, 04:48 PM

This has charted at #5 in the UK this week. There's no big releases this week and 5SOS will likely fall behind them, so I would expect this to stabilise or even climb next week!

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 23rd June 2018, 02:53 PM

It should have managed #1. They released it last weekend & their two bighears

?!

It was released with no prior announcement and it wasn't widely available to purchase or stream for the majority of the GBP until Monday afternoon. Plus there are no physicals available for those who will have been looking for one.

As I said, I imagine it will climb this week and even if it doesn't, its sales should increase.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 23rd June 2018, 06:01 PM

But Beyoncé is the queen of a surprise release & charts fun primilarily on streams nowadays...

Posted by: SGrey 23rd June 2018, 07:14 PM

Just because she surprise releases doesn't immediately equate to high sales or charting.

Posted by: Theo. 25th June 2018, 07:23 PM

Debuts at #2 in America whilst "APESHIT" debuts at #13 biggrin.gif

Posted by: Dexton 28th June 2018, 12:17 PM

Really hope Apeshit can go Top 40 in the UK this week

Posted by: SKepner 2nd July 2018, 06:58 PM

CD physical is out this Friday! smile.gif

Posted by: Jade 11th July 2018, 12:24 AM

'APESHIT' might be my favourite Beyoncé-related song since 'Drunk In Love'. I was unsure at first but I can't get enough of it now, so good!

(charted at #33 last week btw!)

Posted by: blacksquare 11th July 2018, 09:22 AM

I didn't mind with Formation but the way this has been thrown out, when it could have easily been a hit single and a hit album, has got me questioning the surprise release in 2018.

Posted by: Dexton 18th July 2018, 05:26 AM

Beyoncé & Jay-Z performed Apeshit live for the first time at the Stade de France in Paris on 15th July, with Michelle Obama in the crowd *.*

The crowd definitely went apeshit

This is EVERYTHING. Everything is LOVE. I actually can't get over them winning, even moreso that they recorded an acceptance after her snub in 2017. Bey's message on the next post is so sweet

"Thank you to the Brits for the award for Best International Group. I won this award back in 2002 with my besties, Kelly and Michelle. How lucky am I to have been in a group with my other best friend, the GOAT Hova. 🙌🏾 In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy."

Iconic acceptance speech~

This album is so underrated, which is an odd thing to say about a Beyoncé release.
