Your deadline is up! The playlists are in and the links are being sent out. You should have a link in your inbox by the end of the night. Now comes the hard part - reviewing! We have a few rules for this part too: — You have until 23:59 on Sunday 12 October to submit your review. That's over a month! So at least Bre isn't participating. — In terms of the length of your review is that you must rate each song out of 10 (or pick your own sort of rating format, 0/100, whatever) and write at least one word per song. It's encouraged to write more as it will be more satisfying for the person who made it and I'm sure you want the same in return! — If you like the sound of a playlist after the review's been posted, as for the link! The creator or my Excel file can provide. — Feel free to discuss in here before you post your actual review, from the name to elements you're enjoying. And please post the playlist/file name now so I can make sure it's all gone smoothly! I do hope no one ended up with their own playlist. Here's everyone participating: دهش* (Dandy*) ϑЃεβϘ (Grebo) ¿ REY CARLOS ? I have 'Can't See The Wood For The Scene', by some artist called 'iamohwhoiamami'.
Oh and it's got imaginative track titles that I assume aren't the original names! Sadly there's no track numbering, so I'm not sure which track to listen to first! The track called 'Chilled Lo-Fi Dance From Majestic Casual' is definitely not Chilled Lo-Fi Dance from Majestic Casual and 'Screamo-Filled Noise' is not very Screamo or Noisy. I'm STUMPED. I have "Be Alone, Get To Know Yourself" by Unknown Artist which, as I've said to David, sounds very sexual.

Ooh, quite a few took part in the end, Was worried the quietness in the thread meant that everyone had forgotten!
I will listen and aim to have mine up in the next two weeks - I have 'dance by yourself' - Unless I've got it wrong, there maybe a hint in that title on what to expect. |

I have 'Silly Season'. Didn't know what to expect from that title so I've taken a quick 5 second listen to see what's in there and it sounds like I'll enjoy that very much.

Somewhere In Between What You Wanted and What You Didn't Want ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■■■ one An artist whose voice is quite in right now. Don't really find the song memorable but it's okay I guess. ■■■■■■■■■■ two Too punky and guitary for my liking. I like guitars but not when there's no hook or interesting twists or something like that bye ■■■■■■■■■■ three omg this is a really kewl song. The way it started got me hooked straight away. Even the melody's repetitiveness isn't a problem. The mid section with strings is absolutely stunning! Such contrast between different types of instruments and melodies. Perfection. ■■■■■■■■■■ four Caribou - Our Love <3 The new album is gorgeous, including this song. Back Home >>>> tho ■■■■■■■■■■ five woah, this is so good as well. The production is so on point and very now for me. While not being as experimental as track 3, I think it still conveys the same feeling and vibe. ■■■■■■■■■■ six Very Owen Pallett-esque which is great because Owen is f***ing amazing. Melodic and emotional song that comes across very subtle and really gives you the multidimensional feeling, like you're going to find/hear something new each time you listen to it. ■■■■■■■■■■ seven I really don't know how to describe the song. It's just random vocals done in a way I really dislike, layed onto a track that isn't very appealing or interesting. ■■■■■■■■■■ eight Don't know who's singing this but this is a Sean Paul - Breathe cover. Only with a more 'now' sound. It's okay I guess bye ■■■■■■■■■■ nine I really don't know. It just faded into the background for me. ■■■■■■■■■■ ten Some French realness. Doesn't help the case though as it's pretty boring and blah. ■■■■■■■■■■ eleven Started very blah but got much better towards the end. The whole thing sounds very complex and production is rather good. It's the vocals that do it for me. Or rather do NOT do it for me. ■■■■■■■■■■ twelve Happy clappy happy realness. very st tropez. bright colours. very st tropez. The backing track is good but those amateurish vocals (although i like the voice) bye ■■■■■■■■■■ thirteen I think I know this one but don't know where from. Me likey tho. Very upbeat and fun. ■■■■■■■■■■ fourteen Scream tastic female rocky realness. Nothing against rock chixxx but no ■■■■■■■■■■ fifteen Middle eastern instrumental realness. Very kewl. ■■■■■■■■■■ sixteen Gives off such a kewl vibe. I usually love that lo-fi-ish 'i dunnae curr' sound and this time ain't no exception bye ■■■■■■■■■■ seventeen Yeah no one really cares about you, girl. If only there were less of those run-of-the-mill vocalists like this bitch. She just makes the entire song so boring and BLEUGHHGIIEHGHHGHGHH even though I'm liking the music and the sound a lot. ■■■■■■■■■■ eighteen Another instrumental. I feel like this one could really use some dramatic vocals. Although the music is already dramatic enough so I think it'll work either way tbh. Doesn't push the envelope too much though, which is what I notice and appreciate the most in songs. ■■■■■■■■■■ nineteen Woah this is very pleasant. Strings. Really nice and simple. Nothing extraordinary and try-hard. ■■■■■■■■■■ twenty I'd close the album with track 19 tbh. A bit of calmness and then some string drama realness to close for the night. I feel like this song relies too much on vocals which in a way I don't like. A bit too simple of a track as well. ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ 135/200 ■■■■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ |

I've received 'BJ CD SWAP' by ID.
A quick flick through reveals that the disc ends on a track I very nearly entered an edit of to BJSC last month, strange as it's really not something at all well known. Looking forward to listening to it. (and more oddly this is also an unofficial edited version I think) This post has been edited by مدهش*: 9th September 2014, 06:20 PM |

Oh no it was mine Pav!
I thought I'd said in my post above, sorry!!! Or maybe I was so busy assuming all reviewers took about 18 months to get round to it that the concept of someone reviewing it before I'd even downloaded mine from the link didn't seem plausible at all. |

Oh, good. You were my top choice, mainly because of that cover haha. None of the other bitches would be able to pull it off oops~
I just decided to be super early this time. I might do a follow up review of the same album or get someone else's CD to make up for last time oops |

Somewhere In Between What You Wanted and What You Didn't Want Firstly... for once there is absolutely no concept to this CD, I usually spend ages trying to make something really cohesive but this time I thought I'd just throw a few noises that I've been listening to a lot of late and hope that at least some of them would suit whoever received it. Kinda gutted in a way 'cause I'm sure you'd have got my more concept styled ones but pleased that you did indeed appear to find some things that you loved. And that you didn't already know them all, this forum seems to know every new song around these days so getting discoveries is kinda tough. Ha at the cover size though, no wonder my uploads always seem kinda big. ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■■■ one An artist whose voice is quite in right now. Don't really find the song memorable but it's okay I guess. Layla - Smokestacks - is this fair to say it's kinda Florence-lite? I like the stop start and build/fade nature of it, it's one of those tracks I've been almost sending to BJSC for about the past six months. ■■■■■■■■■■ two Too punky and guitary for my liking. I like guitars but not when there's no hook or interesting twists or something like that bye The New Pornographers - War On The East Coast - I had such an obsession with their earlier albums that I've been listening to their most recent one quite a lot for nostalgia if nothing else. Kinda the same era as Metric/Stars etc I guess, the band reminds me of a time when triangles used to listen to anything Canadian. ■■■■■■■■■■ three omg this is a really kewl song. The way it started got me hooked straight away. Even the melody's repetitiveness isn't a problem. The mid section with strings is absolutely stunning! Such contrast between different types of instruments and melodies. Perfection. Sailor & I - Tough Love [M A N I K Summer Skeleton Mix] - I almost sent this to BJSC instead of Turn Around the other month... I love this mix, although I edited it a bit to fit in here, it's one of those cases where practically all of the other mixes of a track are all like really cool or whatever but nobody actually seemed to pay attention to the best one! ■■■■■■■■■■ four Caribou - Our Love <3 The new album is gorgeous, including this song. Back Home >>>> tho Caribou - Our Love - as you so rightly say... I love this, haven't listened to the rest of the album yet but the way this explodes (or maybe not explodes, maybe more quietly combusts?) in the second half of the track is just lush. ■■■■■■■■■■ five woah, this is so good as well. The production is so on point and very now for me. While not being as experimental as track 3, I think it still conveys the same feeling and vibe. Azekel - New Romance - So pleased you like this! It's one of the most underrated tracks of the year for me, don't see why this wasn't massive at least on the blogs? ■■■■■■■■■■ six Very Owen Pallett-esque which is great because Owen is f***ing amazing. Melodic and emotional song that comes across very subtle and really gives you the multidimensional feeling, like you're going to find/hear something new each time you listen to it. Douglas Dare - Repeat - Also very glad you liked this one... I wanted to send this to something eventually, his album earlier this year is really one of the best of the year but seems to have gone by without a sole paying attention. Indeed, the track isn't even on youtube so y'all have a live version instead. Geek love. ■■■■■■■■■■ seven I really don't know how to describe the song. It's just random vocals done in a way I really dislike, layed onto a track that isn't very appealing or interesting. Jim-E Stack - Reassuring - downloaded this the other week. Thought it may sound good after the Douglas Dare track to continue the piano thing but introduce some beats etc. Plus the last sound was the first sound of the next track so I couldn't resist including it. ■■■■■■■■■■ eight Don't know who's singing this but this is a Sean Paul - Breathe cover. Only with a more 'now' sound. It's okay I guess bye Years & Years - Breathe - just love these and they make a song I hated really quite tolerable. One of the new bands of the year? Thinking so. Plus people always seem to like cover versions in these cdswap things so I wanted to include one! ■■■■■■■■■■ nine I really don't know. It just faded into the background for me. Blood Cultures vs Missy Elliott - Sock It 2 Summer - Awwww, shame you didn't like this. It's one of those instances where a mash up just sounds like it was always the original track to me. ■■■■■■■■■■ ten Some French realness. Doesn't help the case though as it's pretty boring and blah. Poom - Les Voiles - I was going to say that this was kinda like a French Daft Punk. But I guess that doesn't quite work. Maybe they're like an even more French Daft Punk? Okay? No? ■■■■■■■■■■ eleven Started very blah but got much better towards the end. The whole thing sounds very complex and production is rather good. It's the vocals that do it for me. Or rather do NOT do it for me. John Hancock - Left Me - I have such a soft spot for miserable music. And this is miserable music masquerading as cheery music. Plus I don't know if the guy in the video is actually him or not but he is just such an unlikely musician that I just gotta love him. ■■■■■■■■■■ twelve Happy clappy happy realness. very st tropez. bright colours. very st tropez. The backing track is good but those amateurish vocals (although i like the voice) bye Feist - I Feel It All [Escort Mix] - how can you not know this? or call Feist amateurish? bye indeed ■■■■■■■■■■ thirteen I think I know this one but don't know where from. Me likey tho. Very upbeat and fun. O'Death - Bugs - can't even remember now how I heard this one either but agree it's pretty upbeat and fun. We're kinda firmly into the section of the cd for happy folk. Should they exist on Buzzjack? ■■■■■■■■■■ fourteen Scream tastic female rocky realness. Nothing against rock chixxx but no Oh, Be Clever - Tosh - more cheeriness. This kinda reminds me of a more poppy Yeah Yeah Yeahs maybe? Again, not on youtube so everyone can have another live acoustic version from the equivalent of good morning with Philip and Fern. Or Holly. Or whoever does those shows these days. ■■■■■■■■■■ fifteen Middle eastern instrumental realness. Very kewl. Ratatat - Bare Feast - Obsessing over ratatat again of late. Although not this album really so not sure why I chose this one. Anyway, glad you likeee. ■■■■■■■■■■ sixteen Gives off such a kewl vibe. I usually love that lo-fi-ish 'i dunnae curr' sound and this time ain't no exception bye Temples - Sun Structures - this is so not what I'd normally listen to but I've kinda fallen for their album. It's just so authentic sounding that it's difficult to resist, really does sound soooo old. ■■■■■■■■■■ seventeen Yeah no one really cares about you, girl. If only there were less of those run-of-the-mill vocalists like this bitch. She just makes the entire song so boring and BLEUGHHGIIEHGHHGHGHH even though I'm liking the music and the sound a lot. Ultraísta - Smalltalk - I wanted to include the Four Tet mix but it didn't fit within the timescale. Not sure whether you'd have preferred it or not but I've linked that version instead so you can find out... probably shoulda stuck with it maybe? ■■■■■■■■■■ eighteen Another instrumental. I feel like this one could really use some dramatic vocals. Although the music is already dramatic enough so I think it'll work either way tbh. Doesn't push the envelope too much though, which is what I notice and appreciate the most in songs. Maybeshewill - Critical Distance - I think this group are really quite epic, or dramatic I guess as you say. Everything of theirs is pretty much like this, all sort of more rocky M83 style instrumentals. Thought I'd include it in case you know it went to someone in here who actually likes those guitar things instead of these new found keyboard noises. ■■■■■■■■■■ nineteen Woah this is very pleasant. Strings. Really nice and simple. Nothing extraordinary and try-hard. Rufus Wainwright - Albatross - My darling Rufus! I never include him on anything which is odd considering he was my avatar for like years and years. I think this one is simply beautiful, it's a cover of an old Judy Collins track from some obscure compilation. ■■■■■■■■■■ twenty I'd close the album with track 19 tbh. A bit of calmness and then some string drama realness to close for the night. I feel like this song relies too much on vocals which in a way I don't like. A bit too simple of a track as well. Broken Twin - The Aching - back to sombre piano music then, my comfort zone at times. Again, this one's only included because I've been listening to her album quite a lot of late. It's a late night kinda thing, relaxes me as it reminds me of the music my parents used to listen to when I lived back at home. Not that you need to know that but still. ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ 135/200 ■■■■■■■■■■ Yay I think? Is that good? It's not awful at least so I'll take that. ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ |

Most of the artist names have been left in the one I've received, though I don't know any of the tracks!
