QUOTE English singer-songwriter James Bay doesn’t rest a moment with the extended promotion of his acclaimed debut album “Chaos and the Calm”, which was released on March 23 last year via Virgin and Republic. The singer has been chosen as responsible for interpreting the official song of this year’s Sport Relief, which is an acoustic version of the album’s deluxe edition bonus “Running“. The track written and produced by Bay himself has been re-recorded in the legendary Abbey Road Studios and this new version serves as a charity single to support this event. The Abbey’s version was released on digital retailers on March 11th. http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/james-bay-running/ Delighted James has been chosen for this! Oh so this is basically another "Lay Me Down"
Why does every track of his sound like an Ed Sheeran knock-off |

Why do we keep getting dull songs for charity singles. Give me a Just Can't Get Enough please.

Wow, making a dull song even duller, what's the point? I miss the days when charity singles were fun covers of older songs rather than just an artist doing a remake of one of their songs.

The charity version:
Not massively different but nonetheless a fantastic song which will hopefully raise a lot of money for a good cause! |

The point of the Comic/Sport relief singles should be to raise money with a fun and even novelty song, and having James Bay just after they've had Sam Smith
James Bay is one of the dullest artists I've ever heard tbh |

The point is to raise money, I doubt they care about the general vibe of the song as long as it sells and something like this is gonna do it better than a novelty track, particularly in the streaming era.

How? People are more likely to check out a fun, upbeat song than a dull acoustic version of an already dull song. They want a song that will get attention and be something that is out of the ordinary. This song is something that is pretty expected from this kind of artist.

"Dull" is more of a personal opinion though, I think it's a lovely song and an excellent choice. It'll go down well when performed too because this kind of song resonates well with the British public. Sam Smith's one went to #1 for two weeks last year, Jess Glynne's ballad was a massive hit too for Children In Need, so that speaks volumes I think. By comparison, Little Mix's Word Up! spent just two weeks top 40.
