My feed was really shit, so I didn't bother staying up, plus I didn't really care for any of the awards that were being given out. I shall catch up though!
Thrilled for Birdman Brilliant film and though Boyhood was as well, I do like a shock victory. Great to see Grand Budapest Hotel getting so many as well. Glory is a worthy winner of soundtrack, Everything is Awesome tho ;( |

There wasn't any surprise yesterday. All the winners were big contenders. However, the most disappointing award was "Ida" for me. A boring movie with a meaningless script. The same happened with "The Great Beauty" last year.

SO happy for Julianne, she acted rings around the other nominees with her performance in Still Alice.

I've not seen 'Still Alice' yet, but Rosamund Pike gave one of the best performances by a lead actress in at least 5 years! So, I'm not taking lightly to the comment that JM "acted rings around" very lightly. I'm sure she was very deserving, but I'm doubting she was that far ahead of RP. (Ofc I can't judge properly, but it'll have to be something spectacular if the above statement is to be correct! )

On a personal level I preferred what Pike did in Gone Girl, but then the nature of the film leads to a much more in your face performance which is easier to latch onto. Julianne was such a quiet, intimate portrayal of illness that it totally deserved to win and I completely see why it did, much as it isn't a performance *I* got as much out of.
