It's meant to be primarily a celebration of British music, it wouldn't make sense to allow International acts to compete in the same categories as British. Though I do wish they gave a bit more airtime to the International section, they seem to gloss over them quickly.

I know The Brits have been known to bend the rules oddly in terms of how they nominate. But Best International/British Male/female/group are all done once per era. Little Mix were already nominated for the Glory Days era (nominations work on what was released up until Q4 - hence how Sam Smith and Taylor will get noms), so don't be surprised if they don't get a nomination this year.

but you don't need an album out
last year Ellie Goulding was nominated for best female and didn't had an album out, just a single |

But for people not to be surprised if they're not for that reason because it's generally the rule. |

Hope P!nk gets a performance slot and wind International female.
It's going to be quite predictable who wins what awards though, as I'm sure Ed will be nominated many categories. Still, I'm looking forward to the show and maybe they won't be as predictable as we all think! |

I don't see how they could nominate George Michael?
I know David Bowie and Leonard Cohen were nominated last year, but they had released new albums shortly before they died. George Micheal last released a new album in 2004. |

They could use the Listen Without Prejudice re-release as an excuse to nominate him.

They also nominated Amy Winehouse 5 years after her death just because of the documentary film about her

SURELY Zara will get an International Female nomination? I'd be surprised if she got it over the 4 more commercial names I mentioned and then there's always at least one that's a bit less mainstream (Solange, Courtney Barnett, St Vincent, Janelle Monae etc). But you never know! |

But you never know! Suppose, in terms of females she had the second most streamed album of 2018. I know I've got my loon glasses on but the 'So Good' sales / streams are rather unbeatable by anybody in this category. |

the international categories are always more open and surprising
even Bjork won 2 years ago, which was pretty shocking considering she sells zero albums and she beat Lana and Ariana |
