Are we sure this will be a dance song? Stargate have done a lot of big pop records.

Posted by: TMD_24 3rd March 2017, 06:35 PM

I guess we should wait to hear what it sounds like. I don't think I have ever listened to Stargate ever. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 3rd March 2017, 06:41 PM

Yeah. Stargate are definitely more known for their Pop/Urban productions! I am 100% sure you've heard a Stargate production before. They're huge and actually quite diverse as producers. Having had a helping hand in songs from S Club 7 to Wiz Khalifa, Atomic Kitten to Coldplay and Billie Piper to Rihanna and Ne-Yo!

I definitely think this will be an explosive pop number though, just going by the featured artists alone!

Excited either way! *.*

Perhaps I have heard a Stargate production before but never noticed! The names involved in the song do scream pop so I'm happy for this to be moved to the Pop area of the forum. smile.gif

Yep, Stargate have had a ridiculous amount of hit singles - including 13 UK #1s

2000 'Day & Night' (Billie Piper)
2001 'The Way To Your Love' (Hear'Say)
2002 'Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word' (Blue)
2006 'So Sick' (Ne-Yo)
2007 'Beautiful Liar' (Beyoncé/Shakira)
2008 'Take A Bow' (Rihanna)
2008 'Closer' (Ne-Yo)
2010 'Beautiful Monster' (Ne-Yo)
2010 'Only Girl (In The World)' (Rihanna)
2010 'What's My Name' (Rihanna)
2012 'R.I.P.' (Rita Ora)
2012 'Let Me Love You' (Ne-Yo)
2012 'Diamonds' (Rihanna)

[moved to pop forum]

There's also a thread already in the Pink artist forum, but I think in this case given that it's Sia as well and she's a big artist, this should also be here?!

Posted by: danG 3rd March 2017, 06:52 PM

Usually when the artist is only featured it gets put in both the AF and the genre forum (see also Rihanna's countless features)

Heard a demo of this a while back. Sounded decent but not amazing.

The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?) was dance though. Not sure if they produced any other dance songs.

There are previews online now. Already sounds amazing!

Posted by: mdh 8th March 2017, 05:54 PM

Doesn't sound too special, if anything a bit repetitive. Hopefully the full version will give me a pleasant surprise tho!

Posted by: mdh 9th March 2017, 05:14 PM

It's really nothing special, so underwhelming. sad.gif

Posted by: Atonement 10th March 2017, 11:45 AM

Wow they really tried to recreate 'Cold Water'. It's just as inoffensive as that song but I must admit on second listen it's already growing on me.

Posted by: Davidson 10th March 2017, 01:51 PM

I am not having the same reactions as everyone else. This has actually been a pleasant surprise to me.

There is almost something quite dark about it. I like it.

This is so much better than 'Cold Water'. I don't really hear the comparisons at all.

Posted by: Tinasha 10th March 2017, 02:39 PM

This is really, really bland.

It's such a shame when big names all come together and are still happy to put out something so mediocre.

Posted by: ___∆___ 10th March 2017, 02:54 PM

Just streamed this - what a disappointment, was expecting a banger nocheer.gif

Posted by: jark 11th March 2017, 12:14 AM

Wow, this is awful. Somebody lock Sia up in a box for a year already. She's fresh out of ideas.

"I'm in your waterfall" is the worst lyric possibly ever.

Posted by: Dexton 11th March 2017, 02:14 AM

It's not bad, but it's certainly nowhere near the quality I would expect from these 3 artists.

Posted by: Harrier 11th March 2017, 09:26 AM

I quite like this actually might be my favourite new release of the week ohmy.gif

Posted by: blacksquare 11th March 2017, 12:13 PM

This is so bland and terrible

Who thought this was a good idea?

Posted by: Jade 17th March 2017, 02:33 PM

I was hyped for this because of the two featuring artists but it really falls flat sad.gif oops.

Posted by: Вuzzjack 19th March 2017, 07:12 PM

I actually really like this, production is very good, the drop is great and I like the funky sound effects. Sounds much more dancey than Martin Garrix or The Chainsmokers, I would definitely consider it dance as well as pop.

Seeing this topic made me remember...this isn't the first time StarGate have attempted a hit under their own steam.

Back in 2002 they released this single in the UK called "Easier Said Than Done". It tanked out at #55, but was very much in the vein of the stuff they'd done for Blue at the beginning of their career ("All Rise" being the obvious point of comparison):

"Waterfall" I can't say I care much for but just thought their previous forgotten efforts were a point of interest!

Posted by: jakewild 19th March 2017, 09:25 PM

to repeat everybody else this is just terrible

why did anyone let this see the light of day

Posted by: Slick 19th March 2017, 10:25 PM

This isn't as good as it should be (the chorus is VERY disappointing) but I quite enjoy it. On paper it sounded like it would be much better though, which is a shame.

Posted by: Вuzzjack 19th March 2017, 10:50 PM

I think I like this because it doesn't sound generic production wise, it isn't a Chainsmokers type song and doesn't have tropical production or a pitched vocal drop which a lot of dancepop songs have these days.

With Pink and Sia on the one track i was expecting something great, unfortunately, the opposite occurred, very disappointing.

This is awesome, I love it. I don't get the hate for it!

Seeb Remix is out tomorrow!

Posted by: jase. 6th April 2017, 10:33 PM

I keep trying to like it but it's just not happening at all sad.gif

Posted by: 360Jupiter 7th April 2017, 09:50 AM

Seeb remix is an improvement on the original. Ish. It still feels like the two vocalists are wasted though.

Did Sia write it, I wonder? It's not like her to have decent verses and a poor chorus.
