(Rockabye is a 9/10 so I decided to quickly look at the top 2's for songs that I liked that hit #1 recently and my last 10/10 top 2 is All About That Bass/Shake It Off back in 2014!! laugh.gif)

Ah, that's a shame, No More Sad Songs fell quite a bit on iTunes on the one week where it vanished from the 59p batch.

Remember P!nk won't hold up like that for the entire week, and her streaming will take a little while to build. I think Dua's got this.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 10th August 2017, 11:32 PM

Quite an exciting week in terms of new releases actually! Some interesting stuff to check out.

I'm down with 'New Rules' being #1, if it's possible!

Dua's sales will fly up tomorrow in the day with the combination of Hot Hits and 59p. She'll be on Be!ge's tail in no time.

Posted by: Liаm 10th August 2017, 11:41 PM

Omggggg

I might acc cry if Dua gets #1, New Rules would be my favourite #1 since Roar and it might even surpass that but it's hard to match it up to all time faves this early.

Posted by: WallIsSoGood 10th August 2017, 11:52 PM

'New Rules' now the second song on Hot Songs and 59p, I see no other song being number one than Dua, what an incredible achievement considering it's been released after the album. This really will help her become ever more huge in the UK.

Rita Ora 'Your Song' being 59p again tho, Amelia Lily 'You Bring Me Joy' 59p! Coming for that top 200 re-entry!

Posted by: BridgeCow 10th August 2017, 11:55 PM

Omg yes at More Than Friends being front page hot songs

Posted by: Ryan. 11th August 2017, 12:00 AM

I'm intrigued to see how Jessie J's new single does! I think it might get a surprisingly high peak on iTunes tomorrow before tumbling down.

Posted by: WallIsSoGood 11th August 2017, 12:01 AM

JESSIE J IS BACK?

WTF.

Posted by: Ryan. 11th August 2017, 12:02 AM

With a "buzz single" called "Real Deal" *_*

Posted by: WallIsSoGood 11th August 2017, 12:03 AM

I have no f***ing clue what Zara's doing with the releases of 'Don't Let Me Be Yours' and 'Only You', I don't think 'Only You' is a single in the slightest, just think she's doing it to gain extra streams to overtake Ariana in most streamed female album.

Who has let Jessie J come back?

This new P!nk song is alright but a bit underwhelming, she's capable of farrr better ('Just Like Fire' was pretty great for example), impressive as ever to see her still so relevant though, I'm not surprised she's got to #1 on iTunes but wow at her building up a 2 to 1 lead!

I'd LOVE to see Dua Lipa take the #1 this week though, please let that happen heart.gif (even if it'll be another one that's only #1 decause of 'Despacito' having halved streaming power). Would definitely be the best #1 in quite some time.

Is Dannii Minogue #1 yet?

Posted by: White Mustang 11th August 2017, 08:09 AM

iTunes has been frozen for a good hour hasn't it?

Posted by: T Boy 11th August 2017, 08:34 AM

Apparently the Jessie J abomination is for an M&M advert rotf.gif

So does Pink have an actual shot at no.1 this? I don't know how to predict the charts these days.

Posted by: White Mustang 11th August 2017, 08:38 AM

Pink will not be #1.

Dua up to #2 on iTunes already. SHE IS COMING.

Unlikely. She'd have to hold this kind of lead all week which I don't think will happen. Even if she's the week's biggest seller, Dua Lipa will have a bigger streaming advantage so will likely claim the official #1 that way.

I don't know how to predict the charts these days.

Here's a breakdown as simple as I can make it...

Pink's sales = all iTunes downloads + (total streams / 150)
Despacito (or nearly any other song over 10 weeks old) = all iTunes downloads + (total streams / 300)

...so basically Pink will have her streaming sales counted for double of all songs like Despacito.

And to answer your other question, I can't see her making #1 but top 5 is definitely very possible I'd say! (I'm shit at predicting tho so take what I say w a pinch of salt lmao)

On a different note I'm loving the top 2 Dua Lipa vs. P!nk its been awhile since we had a female battle in the top 3 singles chart.

Jessie J's offering however is as everyone has been saying. It is drab beyond belief :/

Itunes sales are so low That selling double than anybody means 4k a day wink.gif
Pink needs to do wellon Spotify too

Posted by: Shaphne 11th August 2017, 01:23 PM

It's still selling though, I don't get why people are so quick to try and tear down itunes #1 when it still counts a fair bit to the charts.

Posted by: Liаm 11th August 2017, 01:27 PM

Steps got iTunes #1 and peaked at like #37 laugh.gif P!nk is doing better than the though, she'll get like top 5 which is incredible for a female artist in this climate with a song that isn't overly chasing every trend and 17 years into her career is incredible. She could climb to #1 in the coming weeks imo when Spotify builds a bit more for her but we'll have to see how she starts, she might do really well initially. A Dua and P!nk top 2 after Despacito has been #1 for like 3 months would be incredible.

Posted by: T Boy 11th August 2017, 01:28 PM

4k a day is quite a lot given sales over recent weeks. No one is expecting it to be at no.1 next week but can't we just be happy she's doing well on a chart somewhere?

Some of us don't stan that many successful artists in these times, y'know....

Posted by: RobBob 11th August 2017, 01:37 PM

I don't think anyone is trying to discredit Pink, anyone does well to reach #1 regardless of how high the sales are! It's just an explanation to anyone who's expecting her to go straight in at #1 that a big download lead can be misleading. But, yeah, she's exceeded my expectations and she's doing fantastically, so fans should still be happy!

Disappointed it's Without You doing well for Avicii, the track with Rita Ora is much better imo and shows a much different side to Avicii. sad.gif

Posted by: White Mustang 11th August 2017, 01:37 PM

Pink will probably collapse around the weekend I agree, but I do think it's destined to be a big hit either way.

I don't think anyone is trying to negate from the fact Pink is doing incredibly well right now, like Steps did initially too.

But some are just lowering people's expectations who expect Pink to jump in at #1 on Friday, with Steps some people couldn't get their heads around their eventual chart position (Not so much on Buzzjack I guess, but on Twitter and other forums they didn't seem to have heard of streaming laugh.gif )

Despacito's chart run will be interesting to watch as it'll be the first song to spend it's entire chart fall from #1 to when it eventually drops out on ACR

Posted by: mdh 11th August 2017, 02:47 PM

Right, here's what Pink will need to get into certain positions next week (approx)...

Top 20 - 15k
Top 10 - 26k
Top 5 - 29k
Top 3 - 34k

...now you can probably get yourself a better judgement on where she'll land. I think top 5 is possible.

Posted by: Hiß 11th August 2017, 02:49 PM

I don't like the Dannii/Jason Herrah song or the Marshmello/Khalid one as the drops are not great in either of them imo.

The new Avicii/Sandro Cavazza one is very good though imo music.gif

Pink will likely hold up much stronger than Steps did have after reaching number 1 on iTunes. I would greatly welcome a Pink number 1 or a return to the top 10. It is welcoming to see some change in the charts this week.

It proves that type of sound can actually do well, people just need to release more of it. Hopefully with this, the new Tom Zanetti and the Duke/City track we can gradually shift towards this and away from that future bass/tropical saturation.

The only thing I would say is that it is probably a bit too soon for deep house to become 'the thing' again. I'm hoping against hope that garage can make a miraculous comeback!

On My Mind by Disciples is another prime example of that deep house sound creating a hit in 2017 - and that was a hit through Radio 1 airplay. If they continue to support deep house/d&b/garage influenced tracks outside of Dance Anthems then I think they could make a 'comeback' of sorts.

(even I'm fed up with identikit future bass songs now, change the bloody record please drama.gif)

Its going to be very close but I do think both p!nk and Dua look to have the top 2 spots next Friday I reckon. She's maintaining a decent lead on iTunes with Dua Lipa only going up to 50% so far.

If P!nk's sales hold up I'd estimate she's on course for 35-40k of downloads plus maybe 10-15k from streaming which thanks to ACR last weeks no.1 only had 39k of combined sales so P!nk could shift that on downloads alone. Dua Lipa I reckon will do around 40-45k, if P!nk maintains a steady lead on downloads and her streaming pulls up she may just about clinch it.

Keep forgetting the first day of pink is not of this week's sales? So it's really a day and a bit... And now Dua already at 55% and pink has no radio this week and 300k difference on streaming which is around 2k sales. Dua should and deserves it in my taste but yes I think both can be top 2.

Posted by: John-James 12th August 2017, 10:50 AM

I think Dua has this to be honest, just a 45% lead now which will only continue to shrink.

A bit of trivial information but does anyone know when the last time we had a post-album #1? Not a single going #1 after the album release but a single being released and pushed to radio after the album is out.

P!nk's holding up incredibly well! I didn't expect her to tumble that quick because she's less of a fanbase act - the likes of Gaga, the 1D boys, etc will fly to #1 and drop quickly once the fanbase has bought it, P!nk has never felt that way to me. That's pretty incredible to see a dance song by an unknown artist this high up the charts. Even if it covers a well known song which is 20 years old this summer. It's still very impressive. Shame it's so short in length.

Pink is losing steam but Dua really did nothing today?. Like 10% total is not enough I think, she must start gaining again.

I think she'll pick up the pace again on Monday, the weekend's a pretty stale time for new music (hence the weekend effect).

So I've come up with some hypothetical predictions here, no idea what they would add up to until I finished them...

So judging by Kworb, P!nk might be able to manage around double the sales of Despacito. Based on last week's sales, this would put her around the 35k sales mark. Streaming-wise, she will be hit by the slow start (even though its fast in terms of a new release) and I'm predicting she'll hit around 1 million streams for the week (which is what #25~ on Spotify would typically get which I think is about what she'll average out at, lower at the beginning of the week e.g. now but higher by the end of the week) which gives her 6.7k sales units.

TOTAL: 41.7k

I think Dua will be around 0.9 at least by the end of the week on Kworb, so if we take a hypothetical week average I think we're looking at 0.7. That's 24.5k sales. She's going to be looking at 2.6 million streams for the week, which will equal 17.3k sales.

TOTAL: 41.8k

I promise that wasn't planned! laugh.gif But I think that's being more optimistic for P!nk than it is for Dua, assuming P!nk will pick up streams very quickly and will stay at iTunes #1 for the entire week. So I think Dua has it in the bag!

Posted by: dandy* 12th August 2017, 11:34 PM

I'm really impressed that Pink has managed to come back with such an impact, she really is a strong contender for the most popular female artist of the past couple of decades in the UK. Well, someone who isn't Adele anyway...

I think Pink will do it, Dua isn't increasing at all, That's super weird.

Posted by: Bjork 13th August 2017, 07:08 AM

Still think Dua will do it easily
She should do 45k, 30k from streams and 15k from itunes

Pink will do 7k streams but even if she kept the pace at itunes, thats 30k
overall, so 37k max

Exactly laugh.gif I hate that people aren't allowed to enjoy female pop songs without people being like "omg shock Buzzjack stanning a female!11!!!!", it's quite patronising laugh.gif There are people who do it for a lot of dance songs or a lot of urban songs, I wouldn't say that to them, people like what they like. All the hype here for Dua Lipa to get #1 is just a culmination of all sorts of different things though to be fair laugh.gif First solo female #1 for almost a year, first #1 for Dua Lipa, post-album single going against all odds and storming the charts, New Rules coming basically right after two songs which had 10+ weeks at #1 each, a very popular music video, and the list goes on. The argument about dance or R&B songs not getting as much position reception on this site is very true, but I think a major factor in that is simply because pop songs like this appeal to a broader audience when compared to songs such as Unforgettable, Wild Thoughts, or even Despacito.

It's a proper moment for people who like this sort of pop, it's been absolutely AGES since a #1 like thus with all these factors has been a serious #1 contender. Buzzjack's ALWAYS been supportive of female artists. That isn't going to change. laugh.gif I don't see why people can't talk about how much they want Dua number 1 or how much they would like Pink to get it instead. We actually have a chart battle! So obviously it's going to get people talking and it's even more special due to the fact we've not had a female number 1 for 9 months, so of course we're gonna be buzzing/supporting P!nk and/or Dua!

It happens. Shouldn't be an issue. It's a forum for us to express our views on stuff like this.

Much rather see those posts rather than that the constant one place movements we get for songs which are either over/had their time or not gonna break out for a while.

Posted by: Klaus 13th August 2017, 08:20 PM

It's just exciting when a technical 9th (!) attempt in 2 years has finally given a much loved artist on here a proper and successful hit, especially when reaching No. 1 has become nearly impossible for any artist, let alone a British female. It's nearly been 2 years since one actually topped the chart in their own solo right and that was Adele!! Then you counter into the fact that it didn't even look like Dua's album would even be released for a large period of time, I don't think anyone would have expected Dua get a No. 1 single, even a few weeks ago. Plus the fact its a well-loved song on here with one of the best videos in the past few years. It's sort of become a pop 'moment'!

Honestly, people moaning in here is become even more tiresome then what they're moaning about. If you don't like it, then you're honestly on the wrong site because this has always leaned a lot more favourably to female pop artists laugh.gif

However, you seem to be making an 'us and them' situation. Why the difference needs commenting on or why you need to mention Buzzjack stereotypes is beyond me.

FYI I'm in here because Pink, an artist I actually like, is doing well. I'd be here if it were Maroon 5 who aren't femal (see 2011 threads for evidence). Artists I like doing well rarely happens now, as is the case for a lot of older members here. tbh New Rules & What About Us are both massive bops - so lets just be grateful for possibly the best top 2 of the year so far.

A solo female top 2... no male features... in 2017... is actually amazing.

Pink is TOTW on R1 so she'll probably start falling a little bit faster on Monday

Hey. I don't understand your post

Surely Pink being the one to watch on R1 would boost the song in terms of plays?
So why would it fall faster on Monday?

FYI I'm in here because Pink, an artist I actually like, is doing well. I'd be here if it were Maroon 5 who aren't femal (see 2011 threads for evidence).

I don't think I want to see evidence of Maroon 5 not being female, thanks. They can keep their clothes on.

Meh, party poopers let BuzzJack enjoy the female domination this week for once.

If the rumours are true about Justin Bieber dropping a new single on Friday, it could be very short-lived anyway.

Miley's new single + music video drops August 18th !! will she be able to get top 10 on the uk charts this time ?

Posted by: omrimayo 14th August 2017, 05:24 AM

Unlike all the last mornings what Dua gained.. Not it's Pink so I guess the lead will stay around 40% the whole week, What do you think in that case it will be? Shocked about how Stable she is, she fell everywhere already at least a bit..
And Yes if someone has a problem me talking about it - he can go or ignore me.

People are saying that we've got a new Taylor single AND a new Justin single on Friday. 'yay' (there's also Miley who's more bearable than the aforementioned two so maybe she can save us drama.gif)

it's nice to see that a lot more people have become genuinely interested in the charts over the last few weeks! reminds me of how it used to be every week pre-streaming and it's a bit of a shame that these exciting chart battles probably still won't be that frequent.

personally, I'm LOVING the inclusion of ACR in the chart, it's made sales mean something again and have a noticeable impact in the charts

This is because sales are so low and one song is not dominating ie 1k between 1 and 2 in today's spotify. When a big new release comes out it people will go off again for a while, it's a bit ironic as Alanis would say that people get more interested when less people are buying or streaming and when more people are buying less people want to talk about it.

Looking forward to Taylor Swift's comeback as it's been a while, but please no more Bieber #1s... If he hadn't featured on about 600 tracks since his last album I'd just about be able to cope with a new single.
Still, at least Dua Lipa will get a week at #1 which is a huge surprise!

This is a proper slow burner I have read a few comments from people who say I never liked Louis but heard this and can't stop listening to it again and a few people who relate to the lyrics of going back again and again to the same person.

They need to get back to UK and perform on One Show or something like that to make it really explode.

I think deep house will always be a force in the charts... just never as major as it was in 13/14. it's one of those very niche 'British' genres if you get me, it'll always be there and there'll be the odd big hit come out once every few months... similar to how country music does in the US charts.

Now even I can see her first number 1 this Friday, with her lead getting bigger. It would be funny or not if Beiber will sell around 50k in 7 hours? I guess a bit of impossible so next week it's his so perfect timing for her.

Posted by: Lenny 15th August 2017, 04:07 PM

I actually don't think it's that impossible for Bieber to sell that much in a matter of hours. It'll be guaranteed to go viral the moment it comes out and all the over obsessive fans of which there are many will go out and grab their copy. He's a lot more popular now than he was when "What Do You Mean" came out and went straight to number 1.

I also think he's bigger than Taylor Swift now so he'd win head-to-head. I love Taylor myself and am looking forward to her comeback but Katy Perry's relative success with this era has made me worried. That said, Taylor's last era was bigger than Katy's last era so perhaps I'm underestimating her.

Dua Lipa will still be rich whether she gets number one or not so it's not the end of the world for her.

I'm really enjoying it at the moment but yeah, there have been loads of other great number #1s this year alone (Wild Thoughts, Symphony, I'm the One too!). I hope it can make #1 and Pink can make top 5 officially!

AFAIK, it's a remix of a single by a Latin American boy band featuring Little Mix (kinda like what Bieber did for Despacito I guess).

It's a remix of Reggaeton Lento by Spanish boyband CNCO which has been huge in Latin countries and has a billion views on YT.

tbh Matt can get away with it due to his Spanish roots, but Little Mix...? This'll end up a massive hit for the novelty of it being Latin-and-slightly-like-Despacito, not something I can get behind drama.gif

Going by the clip of the Reggaetón Lento remix, Little Mix actually sing in Spanish - more than can be said for Matt Terry despite his Spanish roots!

I don't see any harm anyway, it's mutually beneficial - might see Little Mix get some exposure in the Latin American countries while CNCO are opened up to a new audience over here.

It's probably not a bad move from them but oh my at Little Mix hopping on the bandwagon as well so soon. They are embarrassing shameless Cowell puppets.

Sorry but trend hopping is what music has always been about? They come in waves... At least little mix are getting on it early. You got Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran and loads of others jumping on the tropical bandwagon way after thinking it had expired.

Posted by: Capybréra 16th August 2017, 11:21 PM

It's not usually this blatant though. There's a difference between artists following the popular sounds of the moment and making songs in those styles and 2 X Factor acts getting on remixes of existing Latin hits in the space of a month.

Note I'm not saying there's anything *wrong* with this. It's just hilariously transparent, to an even greater extent than trendhopping usually is.

People don't really care though. It happens in business all the time. HMV for example started selling Fidget Spinners and a cheap "things to do with a fidget spinner" book. It's a phase. It'll pass soon enough. I adore latin and Spanish music though, so I hope more 8nteresting ones can break through too.

I'm just pleased to see it's Little Mix remixing on a song that isn't theirs, after they've remixed so many of theirs tbh laugh.gif

Oh yes, no I agree on all points, but I remember after Sorry was a hit the first few tropical pop songs had the same reactions, with people saying it was blatant bandwagon hops (Little Mix did that too of course, just late into the trend...Hi Touch! Hi No More Sad Songs!). We're so used to that trend now that it's become a norm in the charts.

CNCO are also from Syco, so I think it's more Simon trying to get them a UK hit and using his biggest asset, Little Mix, than trying to get Little Mix a hit when they're just coming back off 4 big hits.

Yep. This is not for Little Mix. This is for CNCO for sure. Well in the UK at least. Any boost for Little Mix is just a bonus over here. Hopefully it can give them a leg up in territories where they wouldn't usually, but I'm really not sure if it'll do much for their careers in those parts of the world.

Kylie Minogue

Posted by: rafik4u 17th August 2017, 10:39 AM

The remix is 100% for CNCO promotion and the only reason why Little Mix are doing it is to add another hit on their already long list of hit singles in the UK (and arguably Ireland).

This would not help Little Mix at all in Spanish speaking countries as Regueatton Lento is long done and dusted and I doubt they will re-release it on radio or TV. CNCO have a current single on promotion and charting high in all these countries: Hey DJ featuring Yandel.

I can't remember beige, also ran albums sorry so have no idea what that last one is.

However they wanted a more 'mature' sound, basically, and so changed from pop, although tbh it DID trend chase a little, but after setting and establishing the pop sound for the mid to late 90s, they can be excused for trying to remain relevant in their dying days.
