Chart Commentary

As the UK sizzled over the weekend in some early summer warmth, Calvin steams ahead to take the highest new entry along with this weeks No.1 with the aptly named, Heatstroke.

Calvin Harris scores his 11th top 10 entry this week and like waiting for a bus, his wait for a top 3 hit comes to an end with two at once. His other mega star collaboration with Frank Ocean Slide, does what it says on the tin and slides 2-3. Calvin has only had one other No.1 on the chart, which occurred way back in May 2013 with I Need Your Love alongside fellow brit Ellie Goulding, which peaked for two weeks. Prior to Slide his last top 3 placing was Blame, which peaked at No.2 in Sept 2014 and has gone on to become one of his biggest point earning hit on the chart with 554,000 points.

Chart topper for the last fortnight Lorde, dips 1-2 with Green Light, its 5th straight week in the top 2. Imagine Dragons hold steady at no.4 with Believer, whilst Ed Sheeran's Shape Of You is continuing to enjoy a resurgence up the chart as it climbs 6-5 after 14 weeks on the chart, having already peaked at No.2 for a fortnight in January. Elsewhere in the top ten, Stormzy lands his first top ten entry with Big For Your Boots at no.6, whilst Kasabian, Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson all claim their second at No.s 7 and 8 respectively. Finally the only new entry on the chart goes to The Chainsmokers with one of the tracks from their debut album, Young. It becomes the duo's 4th chart entry following Roses (No.4) Don't Let Me Down & Closer (No.2).

I N D I G O / A L B U M S

01 NE The Chainsmokers - Memories Please Do Not Open
02 01 Ed Sheeran - Divide
03 03 The Weeknd - Starboy
04 NE Rag & Bone Man - Human
05 02 The 1975 - I Like It When You Sleep....

Hi PeteFromCats

Cheers! glad you like the chart, its probably the most diverse its been in a long while.

Yeah Heatstroke when I first heard it i thought it was awful but it rapidly grew on me through last week until I couldnt get it out of my head. That and Slide are his best two songs in a very long time imo. Glad he's given up the EDM club bangers for now.

Again Big For Your Boots has really grown on me the past few weeks as well. Just realised the No.2 is missing after all this time laugh.gif
