Updated - Fine Line matches the 12 weeks Harry's debut album spent in the top 40, and it's yet to leave the top 10! ohmy.gif

Deserved *.*

Posted by: JosephInSpace 14th March 2020, 01:30 PM

Fine Line has passed 150k and it's still yet to leave the top 10. To put that into context:

- Fine Line has spent longer in the top 10 than the self-titled album spent in the entire top 40 (13 weeks top 10 vs 12 weeks top 40)
- Fine Line has spent the same time in the top 10 as FOUR spent in the entire top 40 (13 weeks top 10 vs 13 weeks top 40)

The self-titled is selling roughly 1k a week at the moment, meaning it's roughly 41 weeks from that long-awaited platinum certification. Fine Line still has another 150k to go, but it's fair to say it'll probably leapfrog the self-titled and become the first solo 1D album to be certified platinum.

Posted by: JosephStyles 20th March 2020, 11:37 PM

Heartbreak Weather goes straight in at #1, making Niall the third 1D member to get a #1 solo album. This makes One Direction only the second band EVER to have three members with chart-topping albums, after The Beatles!

Its first week sales are actually lower than Louis had though, interestingly. A look at their first week sales:

237,338 Midnight Memories [01]
155,316 Take Me Home [01]
141,780 FOUR [01]
138,631 Up All Night [02]
093,189 Made In the A.M. [01]
056,630 Harry Styles [01]
049,082 Fine Line [03]
022,703 Flicker [03]
022,250 Mind of Mine [01]
014,729 Walls [04]
014,300 Heartbreak Weather [01]
009,910 LP1 [17]
003,043 Icarus Falls [77]

Elsewhere, Fine Line overtakes FOUR in total top 40 week territory.

Posted by: JosephStyles 27th March 2020, 07:26 PM

Updated - not much new to report but Niall's outsold Louis' known total in just two weeks despite a slower start!

No updates on Flicker cry.gif or UAN...

Their album are climbing on iTunes and re-entering some charts WW but I'm surprised UAN isnt that high blink.gif

Fine Line is one week off matching Made In the A.M.'s entire top 40 weeks... without ever leaving the top 10. It's doing impressively well still - it's almost doubled Take Me Home's top 10 weeks! ohmy.gif

LP1 sold 900 ohmy.gif

They hate Niall and Zayn, ages without updates rotf.gif

All of the albums with updated sales are charting in the UK top 200, that's how I have updates. The only people hating Niall and Zayn must be the UK public lol

One Direction albums holding on great in Ireland again this week

Take me Home 18 up 5 places
Midnight Memories 33 up 7 places
Four 36 up 6 places
Made in the AM 37 up 7 places

Harry Styles Fine Line 6 down 2 places
Niall Horan Heartbreak Weather 7 down 1 place
Niall Horan Flicker 60 up 5 places
Harry Styles Harry Styles 69 up 30 places

8 group related albums in total is great for them.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 28th April 2020, 12:16 PM

How bizarre that they're so high up in Ireland unsure.gif

Up All Night is at #87 too. Seems weird that it's doing significantly worse than the other albums. It's a similar story in the UK where Up All Night isn't Top 200 but the other four albums are.

Updated - new figures for all of the same albums once again.

Fine Line reaches 20 weeks top 10, doubling Take Me Home's previous record. It also matches Made In the A.M.'s total top 40 weeks.

Fine Line smashing! I really am pleasantly surprised tbh. Not only at how good the album is but how it performed I sort of expected a big drop week two with it being a Xmas time release but the fact it’s never left the top 10 is amazing and well deserved. The album really was unlucky as it’s debut sales are like double what so many albums have easily went to #1 with!

Also was very impressed at the groups sales across their albums. 2 albums over 1m sales and a third album very close to 1m is great going! I think my favourite album them is either Midnight Memories or Four I’ll have to listen again at some point I did think they kind of grew a lot between the third and fourth eras but Zayns departure meant that Made In The Am for me wasn’t as strong but I’d probably still say I prefer it to their first two albums.

Solo Zayn kinda deserved better too. His debut may have went to #1 but it’s quick chart run was sad to see and the performance of his second album was awful and undeserved! I do think he could potentially claw back and find some success again but perhaps he’s more of a singles artist?

Just noticed you've listed Made in the AM as entering the charts in August instead of November, Joseph!

I too am really impressed by the sustainability of Fine Line. I thought it might move back up the Top 10 in January but I wasn't expecting it to still be there now! Shouldn't be a problem overtaking the total of his debut album.

Oops, thanks for pointing it out! Fixed biggrin.gif

I'm so pleased with how Fine Line has done, it's completely blown my expectations away, I just wish it could sneak a new peak. They should release a couple of bundles and discount the album to push for it to make #1 on a quiet week, but I doubt they will sad.gif nevertheless, he'll be on 2 platinum albums before long, highly impressive in this day and age, especially as neither have had a huge Q4 boost either! No problem!

It would be great if it could make #1, perhaps when shops open again and they decide to push another single, maybe a timely discount too, the album could sneak a week at the top. Going by its consistency in the Top 10, it's not necessarily going to need a huge boost to make it if it was a quiet week for releases.

Regardless, as you say, two Platinum albums not particularly boosted by the Q4 market is quite a feat!

Fine Line's back up to its #3 peak for the first time! ohmy.gif Perhaps there's a chance at some point fairly soon for a new peak?

Updated! Fine Line's back up to #5 and HS1 re-enters for the 2nd time this year, at #94.

Take Me Home is top 100 for yet another week at #100, while Heartbreak Weather drops to #101.........!!!!

No LP1 sales update this week but we otherwise have updates for the latter 4 1D albums, Harry x2 and Heartbreak Weather.

Posted by: JosephStyles 28th June 2020, 12:17 AM

Updated!

Some 1D certification estimates:

- Midnight Memories is selling just over 900 copies a week. If it keeps going at this rate, it should cross 1m in the final chart of 2020! As for 4x plat, March 2025 laugh.gif
- Made In the A.M. is selling just under 1000 a week roughly, if it continues at that rate it's on track for 2x plat roughly at the end of August 2021.
- Take Me Home's doing ~1.2k, it should make 4x plat in December 2021.
- FOUR's selling similarly - it'll go 3x plat in May 2024 at this rate! laugh.gif
- God knows about Up All Night, still no updates for that one.

In Harry news, Fine Line spends a 28th week in the top 10, and a 12th week in the top 5 without ever going higher than #3. Insane - I can't wait to see how many weeks it racks up in the top 10 in total. It's now matched the entire top 40 run of Midnight Memories, without ever leaving the top 10...!! The self-titled album also moves up to #87, marking its longest stint in the top 100 since 2018.

Certification estimates:

- Fine Line should hit platinum in October if it sells at this rate. This is perhaps the hardest to predict as its sales will surely sink in that time but hopefully it'll see a Q4 uptick and still manage it by the end of the year!
- HS1 is selling ~1.3k a week right now, at that rate it's on for platinum in November. By the end of 2020 we should have both Harry albums certified platinum!! biggrin.gif

For Niall, Heartbreak Weather has now outsold the last known total for LP1 (at last...!). LP1's not had an update in a couple of weeks so it'll still be ahead, but we can safely say Niall will have actually overtaken within a few weeks. As for Heartbreak Weather's certification, this is also quite hard to predict (as it's relatively new and dropping in sales each week), but if it sold its current tally of 1.1k a week, it'll go silver in November.

A guess for Liam as well while we're at it - the last I knew, LP1 was selling ~800 copies a week. Still possible - last week's #200 sold 827 copies! If we assume it's still doing around 800 a week, it'll now be on 39,300, set to reach silver in the second last week of 2020.

As for the rest - genuinely no idea, we've not had recent enough updates on them!

Summary of my estimations! (in order)

October 2020 - Fine Line (platinum)
November 2020 - Harry Styles (platinum)
November 2020 - Heartbreak Weather (silver)
December 2020 - LP1 (silver)
December 2020 - Midnight Memories (1 million sales)
August 2021 - Made In the A.M. (2x platinum)
December 2021 - Take Me Home (4x platinum)
May 2024 - FOUR (3x platinum)
March 2025 - Midnight Memories (4x platinum)

Thanks for those stats, Joseph! wub.gif

Tremendous success for the group albums, even though it does bewilder me slightly that their albums experienced a seemingly sudden and drastic increase in streaming that has been maintained for months now.

I'm really impressed with the consistency of Fine Line, and I really hope it can find a week where it manages a better peak than #3.

A pity that Heartbreak Weather has struggled a bit outside of its first week cry.gif I actually heard it a week or so ago and it's a strong album.

I have a total of 38,392 for LP1 on 19th June - it sold 799 in that week and was technically #205! It was 12 copies behind #200 (811). So I'd guess 39,200 as of 26th June.

Posted by: JosephStyles 28th June 2020, 03:06 PM

Harry Styles the album is up to #82, again its highest position since the anniversary vinyl release just under a year ago. Take Me Home's back in the top 100 again too!

Posted by: JosephStyles 13th July 2020, 09:32 PM

Updated! HS1 climbs up to #69 this week and Take Me Home also climbs, pretty good going for both albums. Sales updates for the final 4 1D albums, both Harry albums and Heartbreak Weather once again. The latter's now outsold the last known LP1 total again but with Liam selling consistently, it might take another couple of weeks for Niall to actually be ahead.

From https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/ten-years-of-one-direction-10-chart-facts-you-probably-didnt-know-about-one-of-the-uks-most-loved-boybands__30301/:

QUOTE
8. One Direction’s biggest album is their only one that didn’t reach Number 1.
Their debut, Up All Night, has 1.18 million chart sales, followed by:

Take Me Home (2012): 1.11m
Midnight Memories (2013): 980,000
Four (2014): 706,000
Made In The AM: 546,000

Posted by: JosephStyles 23rd July 2020, 12:56 PM

Up All Night was estimated to be on 1,165,900 at the start of the year, so it's now added 14,100 in 2020, ~486 sales a week (about half what the other studio albums manage...). It should take about 42 weeks to go 4x plat, which means it'll make it in May 2021.

I'm going to save this week's update until after Friday's chart but pleased to have a new Up All Night total to compare with Take Me Home in particular!

Posted by: JosephStyles 24th July 2020, 07:07 PM

Updated! Fine Line hits 32 weeks top 10... only just!

Amazingly, there's both Harry albums AND four 1D albums in this week's top 100! So they all have updated sales, and have reached their highest positions in.... a long time x

Heartbreak Weather also gets an update, it crossed 40k last week.

Posted by: JosephStyles 3rd August 2020, 02:59 AM

Updated! Big week on the album chart this week - THREE 1D albums are in the top 40, Midnight Memories is just outside, and Up All Night makes the top 200 at #124 for the first time in ages. This means we have new sales tallies for all five albums!

Using the estimated figure of 1,165,900 from the start of the year, that means Up All Night has sold 11,800 in 2020. That's ~381 sales a week, even lower than the above estimate (which was an overestimate thanks to the OCC's rounding). Think September 2021 instead of May for that 4x plat certification as a result.

After last week's narrow victory, Fine Line's a safer top 10 position this week, climbing to #7 for a 33rd week in the top 10! HS1 rebounds to #65, its highest position in its current re-entry to date.

Heartbreak Weather is the only other solo album to be charting this week, so that's got another sales update (and it was 27 sales off re-entering the top 100...!! drama.gif)

I see that 'Fine Line' is now just 8.7k behind Stormzy's 'Heavy is the Head' which it debuted behind at Christmas. Stormzy was ahead for the first 11 weeks, at which point it had established a 61.2k lead over Harry - that gap has narrowed significantly and Harry will definitely overtake. Don't think anyone would have expected that at the beginning of the year!

Posted by: JosephStyles 23rd August 2020, 04:32 PM

Updated for the past 2 weeks. Only Take Me Home remains top 100 out of the 1D albums but all of the last 4 continue to have new totals.

Fine Line's now managed a huge 36 top 10 weeks, though it's becoming increasingly lucky to hold on so I think its run will probably end soon. Nonetheless, it's completely obliterated any 1D album in that department...!

HS1 has now reached a full year (52 weeks) spent in the top 100.

Posted by: JosephStyles 29th August 2020, 06:43 PM

Updated! Fine Line reaches week 37 in the top 10, but this is a busy week. Can see it sadly ending its run this coming Friday!

Updated! Fine Line nabs a 38th week in the top 10, re-entering at #10. It's a race between Fine Line and HS1 to see which will reach platinum first - at this rate, Fine Line will make it in ~5 weeks, HS1 will make it in ~6...!!!

Weird to think that Fine Line has almost 4x as many top 10 weeks as Take Me Home, yet Take Me Home has just under 4x as many sales mellow.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 14th September 2020, 04:59 PM

It would be nice if both Harry's albums went platinum the same week.

Posted by: JosephStyles 19th September 2020, 08:51 PM

Updated! Same albums get new totals - the last four 1D albums, both of Harry's, and Niall's Heartbreak Weather. Now just 8k between the two Harry album totals! Fine Line gets a 39th week top 10 too, almost quadruple Take Me Home's total ohmy.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 27th September 2020, 11:25 AM

Updated! Fine Line gets a 40th week top 10, meaning it has quadruple the next highest tally (10 for Take Me Home). It's actually now only 9 weeks away from matching Take Me Home's total top 40 weeks ohmy.gif

Heartbreak Weather crosses 50k, continuing its slow trickle to silver.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th September 2020, 12:22 AM

I hope heartbreak weather will get to silver, fine line is holding so steady and a new single will help it to keep going.

Posted by: Jay* 3rd October 2020, 03:40 AM

Louis Tomlinson - Walls has sold 32,981, including 738 sales this week!

Posted by: JosephStyles 3rd October 2020, 06:34 PM

Thank you Jay! It was on 17.1k when it left the chart, so on average, that's 497 sales a week across 32 weeks (but I assume generally less than that with this week being higher thanks to the fan boost). At that rate though, it'd make silver in October 2021, which wouldn't be such a bad result in the end.

Updated for this week. Fine Line departs the top 10 again sadly, but it should finally be platinum in a couple of weeks now! It should pip HS1 to the post but that won't be far behind.

re. the 1D albums, Made in the A.M. actually only sold 1 copy less than Take Me Home this week - interesting when TMH has been so far ahead before! Midnight Memories should pass 1m before the end of the year too biggrin.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 12th October 2020, 04:46 PM

Updated! Interestingly, Made In the A.M. is now the top 1D album and re-enters the top 100!

HS1 is still above Fine Line in total sales, but Fine Line should squeeze over plat this week whereas it'll take a couple of weeks for HS1. Basically, Harry should have two platinum albums in a couple of weeks' time!

Posted by: JosephStyles 16th October 2020, 02:55 PM

- Midnight Memories is about 4 weeks off 1 million
- Heartbreak Weather is, similarly, about 4 weeks off silver
- Fine Line is 3 weeks away from overtaking Take Me Home's top 40 weeks total, putting it 2nd only to Up All Night!

Updated! Fine Line jumps to #15 this week thanks to the anniversary vinyl boxset biggrin.gif Sadly HS1 dips out of the top 100 for the first time in ages though.

Take Me Home overtakes Made in the A.M. to be the top 1D album again, though they're the only two in the top 200.

Updated for the past few weeks! We have sales again for the latter four One Direction albums and confirmation of Midnight Memories passing 1m biggrin.gif

The big story this week is Fine Line finally reaching a new peak of #2! It spends a 56th consecutive week in the top 40, slowly trundling to the record for that, while it's wiped the floor with the record for most weeks top 10 - 43 to Take Me Home's 10.

A new total for Niall Horan - Heartbreak Weather: 62,642 as of 1st January 2021 cool2.gif

Nice to see he has at least gone silver a shame he couldn’t / didn’t really do a proper campaign for this album. I’m sure I’ll get round to purchasing it at some point his first one was ok.

Posted by: JosephStyles 17th January 2021, 05:07 PM

Updated! MITAM and Take Me Home are closely battling for the top 1D album - they're side by side in the top 200 for the second week in a row and MITAM is marginally ahead laugh.gif

Heartbreak Weather's back in the top 200 so we have a new total again for that. Fine Line's inching its way to 400k, should be there within the next couple of months.

Next week, we'll see where Zayn will chart - dramatically higher than #77 I expect even if it's on similar sales...!

Updated! Some interesting observations this week:

MITAM has gone from being the top 1D album to only the third most popular this week - Take Me Home is first and FOUR moves into second! Midnight Memories fourth and Up All Night last, sadly that one still hasn't re-entered the chart other than for the anniversary last year.

Nobody Is Listening enters at #17, selling 400 copies more than Icarus Falls managed (and obviously peaking 60 places higher...!). We also have a new figure for Icarus Falls - 34,381! In the list below, that puts it above Walls, but the Walls figure is a little outdated now so I'd expect that's still actually sold more than Icarus Falls. Nonetheless, considering its peak, that's actually not such a bad total.

By opening week sales

237,338 Midnight Memories [01]
155,316 Take Me Home [01]

Niall hasn't done that bad really when you consider the lack of promotion and not having a real hit, if he'd been able to do a proper promo trail or had a song take off I'm sure the sales would be much closer to 100k. A shame Nice to meet ya didn't take off properly it's one of the better One Direction solo songs.

Also over 30k for Zayn is impressive with that peak I mean Melanie C peaked at #8 but there's no way she will achieve these sales, hell even Madonna peaked at #2 and was somewhere round these sales for her last album.

Posted by: Jay❄ 29th January 2021, 01:59 PM

Zayn has the advantage of having a large streaming audience, so Icarus Falls is likely adding 200-300 sales a week, even though its pure sales were atrocious. 200 a week would provide Icarus Falls with over 10k sales a year. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if 90% of Zayn’s album total is thanks to streams.

It’s the same scenario with the other 1D solo albums. LP1 was quite a disaster on arrival, but nevertheless it’s probably getting very close to 60,000/Silver. I’m fairly confident it must have exceeded 55,000 now!

Sadly Melanie C would never be able to consistently add hundreds of sales a week to her total like 1D soloists, she’s always destined to be front loaded with pure sales which can’t be sustained! Conversely to Zayn her total is probably 90% pure sales. Madonna - Madame X sold 50k by the end of 2019, but she also suffers from relatively bad streaming for her modern music. It’ll reach silver eventually though.

By the way, I’m still mildly bewildered that some of the 1D albums have been adding ~1k a week to their totals for the past 10 months or so, given that their albums had little to no chart presence in 2016-19. I don’t get what caused their old albums to suddenly explode on streaming. Take Me Home was #110 last Friday with 1,207 sales; 1,076 of it was streaming. It achieves similar numbers week after week. I don’t get it. unsure.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 29th January 2021, 02:24 PM

I wonder if Harry's solo success has been a contributing factor? It makes sense to me that their albums would be constant presences as all five were huge (poor Up All Night barely getting a look in though tearsmile.gif), and their fanbase is very much today's streaming generation, but Harry could well have boosted the interest, much like HS1 hanging around consistently in the top 100 nowadays!

Posted by: Jay❄ 29th January 2021, 03:02 PM

Up All Night always being conspicuously absent from the chart is another strange detail that leads me to question the streaming sales of their other albums, particularly Take Me Home, which almost always seems to lead the way! The consistency of their 2nd-5th albums having a constant presence in the Top 200 is what I find most bizarre, particularly because none of these albums were rinsed for singles (for that reason it’s more understandable to me that albums like Teenage Dream, The Fame and Good Girl Gone Bad are always lurking). If I remember rightly the 1D albums didn’t re-emerge until hype about their impending 10 year anniversary started to gain traction, a little way into 2020, and since then the albums have not waned at all thinking.gif

I know I should stop dwelling on the overall messiness of the album chart considering it’s unlikely to change any time soon tearsmile.gif I find the eternal presence of various Greatest Hits albums in the Top 40 relatively more annoying than 1D albums heehee.gif

+4,255,604 - total 50,139,216 - Long Way Down

241,567,962 - Made In The A.M.
230,776,242 - Midnight Memories
214,955,527 - Take Me Home
212,094,355 - FOUR
164,546,950 - Up All Night

Counting only the #3-#12 most streamed tracks:
128,814,844 - Made In The A.M.
118,021,637 - FOUR
110,217,164 - Midnight Memories
107,232,996 - Take Me Home
63,763,502 - Up All Night

Which sounds like it reflects the OCC situation pretty well, despite the large potential for variance (due to UK-specific streams, other services etc)! It's probably easiest to visualise the spreads as a graph (the x axis = tracks in order of streams):

The last 4 albums are all pretty close together, but 'Up All Night' is significantly behind in its #2-#5 tracks, especially #3.

What stands out most in their plays for me is 2 of their albums currently having non-singles as their most played tracks - that's really unusual! My assumption is that they're a rare case where a dedicated fanbase is so large that it can actually overpower the general public, particularly when the competition is songs like 'Little Things' and 'Night Changes' that aren't really huge enduring hits, but it could also just be playlists.

So although none of them were really rinsed for singles, many of the album tracks stream well (notably They Don't Know About Us and 18!) to make up for that, and Up All Night loses out because Gotta Be You obviously isn't that popular and it was effectively disowned by the boys anyway (plus the lack of a global push for that + More Than This), so it may as well have only had two singles and they get rounded down.

laugh.gif the timing!

This means that LP1 has managed an average of at least 665 sales a week since 14th August 2020. ohmy.gif If it continues at that rate (but presumably it’ll slow down a bit as it gets older?) it would be Gold in 60 weeks from now. I feel like it’ll manage Gold no later than 2023 even if we take into account its weekly average slowing down.

Ooh thanks for that Joseph, I don’t think I saw Rush’s post at the time! I’m pretty surprised that Up All Night lags behind quite considerably. They Don’t Know About Us and 18 outdoing actual hits seems quite strange too, even as fan favourites you’d think it would be hard to overpower the hits.

One Direction soloists are lucky that they have such a presence & consistency on streaming platforms, because there's no way that the majority of albums with a chart run similar to what Walls achieved [4-76-185-out*] would have managed to reach almost 50,000 in total, and consistently add hundreds of sales a week. Its average sales per week since its last update (32,981 on 2nd October 2020) is 517 to 518 copies a week. Walls could be Silver by October 2021.

Yay!! Take Me Home won't be a million miles behind either. Will give a bit more insight to Up All Night's weekly figure when I update the full thread.

Posted by: JosephStyles 2nd October 2021, 03:54 PM

So 70 weeks have elapsed since our last Up All Night figure of 1,177,700. It's sold 22,300 since then roughly, so that's only about 319 copies a week sad.gif it's such a slow seller compared to the other 1D albums (though even they're selling less than they were a year ago, none of them have been top 200 in a while now). Take Me Home will certainly overtake in the future though.

Also of note is that Fine Line has matched HS1's top 100 weeks, but it's done so consecutively and without leaving the top 40...!

Posted by: JosephStyles 30th October 2021, 03:31 PM

Fine Line is just 2 weeks away from 100 consecutive weeks top 40!! ohmy.gif I feel like it'll fall short in the Q4 rush laugh.gif

Fine Line is now on 99 consecutive weeks top 40... can it hold on for one more? Odds on it being #41 next week? laugh.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 14th November 2021, 03:44 PM

It's done it! Fine Line managed 100 consecutive weeks in the top 40! cheer.gif

HS1 re-entered last week for a week but is back out now. It'll cross 400k this year though! Fine Line will cross 600k, annoyingly it dropped out of the top 40 (#41 drama.gif) for just a week and is already back in, damn! laugh.gif Still, it made 106 consecutive weeks, over 2 years cheeseblock.png

From Music Week:
In the UK, Fine Line was No.12 overall last year (178,527 including streaming equivalent sales). It has total sales to date of 543,797.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th January 2022, 05:12 PM

With a new album on the way, fine line will easily hit double platinum this year, great to see Louis album has also gone silver, any sales update on Nialls Horans heartbreak weather.

Harry Styles is tipped to be coming back with new music soon.

The buzz about the follow-up to Fine Line (Columbia) has had a positive impact on Harry Styles' first two albums, which are edging closer to a million combined sales in the UK.

A tour announcement including huge stadium shows suggests that new music is coming from Harry Styles. Mike McCormack, UK MD of Styles’ publisher UMPG, gave Music Week a progress report recently. And a tabloid report said that a new Harry Styles video is being shot in London by Bradley & Pablo, who directed the Watermelon Sugar promo.

The superstar’s first two albums are the beneficiaries of the excitement surrounding his return. Harry Styles 28th birthday (February 1) was also a catalyst for fans to stream his music, while the popularity of seven-year-old Ronin Davies’ Watermelon Sugar routine on TikTok was a further boost.

In the latest UK chart result, 2019’s Fine Line is up 25-12, a 38-week high, on sales of 4,050. Chart sales increased 29.3% week-on-week thanks to heavy streaming of the album in the last seven days,

Harry Styles’ 2017 self-titled debut is up 73-53, a 42-week high, on sales of 2,016.

With Fine Line’s sales to date climbing to 555,359, and debut LP Harry Styles’ to 390,448, his overall album sales are 945,807, as revealed in Alan Jones’ latest Music Week charts analysis.

By comparison, his former One Direction colleagues, and their to-date tallies are: Niall Horan – 268,801 from two albums; Zayn (Malik) – 185,329 from three albums; Liam Payne – 82,397 from one album; and Louis Tomlinson – 62,414 from one album.

One Direction accumulated 4,972,721 sales from five albums.

Liam and Louis album totals revealed there! Flicker should be over 150k with ease at this point. Obviously the bulk of Zayn's is from Mind of Mine when Icarus Falls hasn't got a cert yet, let alone Nobody Is Listening.

Updated - I've got the first new figures for Take Me Home and MITAM in a few months! Take Me Home is just 2-3 months off 4x plat now.

Fine Line got boosted up to #12 last week with the tour going on sale and Harry's birthday, while HS1 was #53 - the latter will cross 400k within the next 2 months no problem.

Posted by: Rafael x 3rd March 2022, 12:20 AM

updates?

Posted by: JosephStyles 26th March 2022, 04:34 PM

Updated. HS1 is just a few weeks away from 400k. I expect Harry's House will accelerate both that and Fine Line in a couple of months - will help the latter reach 2x plat quicker!

Posted by: JosephStyles 2nd April 2022, 12:51 PM

Updated! Take Me Home should go 4x plat next week and therefore match/overtake the last known total for Up All Night from last October. Obviously, Up All Night won't have sold nothing since then, but Take Me Home's caught up a looooot in the last few years so I expect it won't be long until it officially is their biggest selling album!

HS1's rounded figure is now 400k, it's actually just a bit under but obviously will cross the mark in the next week (it probably already has lol).

And there it is!

Posted by: Rafael x 8th April 2022, 05:02 PM

Music Week:

The announcement that Harry Styles’ third album, Harry’s House, will be out next month, and the No.1 debut of its first single, As It Was, have created a major surge in interest in his first two albums, with his eponymous 2017 debut jumping 111-37, and 2019 follow-up Fine Line scorching 28-6 With consumption increasing 58.82% and 58.31% respectively, to 2,069 and 4,200 units. Although it never reached No.1, Fine Line has been in the Top 50 continuously for 121 weeks following its 2019 release, but has been absent from the Top 10 for 49 weeks until today.

Posted by: JosephStyles 11th April 2022, 11:43 AM

Take Me Home has outsold the last known total of Up All Night! As mentioned above, Up All Night will have sold more since its update in October but it's very much on track to become their biggest selling album in no time.

Harry albums saw a big boost this week thanks to As It Was's release. Fine Line is back in the top 10 for a 58th week at #6, while HS1 is in the top 40 for the first time since November 2017. It should score its 100th week in the top 100 this week!

Fine Line spent its 60th week top 10 this week!

Posted by: Rafael x 19th May 2022, 01:35 PM

Harry’s House follows the release of 2019 blockbuster sophomore album Fine Line, which Music Week can reveal is now double platinum after passing 600,000 UK sales (Official Charts Company) this week.

The self-titled debut is now on 411,738 sales since its release in 2017. It means that Harry Styles has passed a million UK sales across his first two albums.

Harry's House has gone gold within a week, with 113,812 sales (113,835 total, 27 copies sold pre-release somehow). Fine Line back up to #8 with total sales of 607,520 (128th week top 100, 126th week top 40, 62nd week top 10). HS1 up to #29 with total sales of 416,109 (106th week top 100, 15th week top 40).

Harry's House is already the 2nd biggest selling album of 2022, and the fastest seller of the year by far!

Updated! Some interesting things to note:

Fine Line has now outsold the last known total for Made in the A.M. - the first solo album to outsell one of the group albums! ohmy.gif 631,004 vs 619,500 (obviously with the footnote that the last MITAM figure was about 5 months ago now so it's obviously higher than that, but even if Fine Line isn't quite ahead yet, it obviously will be in no time)

Harry's House is already on 244,349 in just 6 weeks - coming for platinum in no time, insane when it took HS1 years to finally get there! It's spent 6 weeks in the top 2 so far. To put this into context, it's already spent the same amount of time in the top 10 as Midnight Memories, and it needs only 5 more weeks in the top 10 to have more than every 1D-related album except Fine Line (which is miles ahead on 64 weeks). It's also only 4 weeks away from having more top 40 weeks than any of the other boys' solo albums, with only Flicker to overtake currently. Insane when it's still up so high!

It went silver (60,000+) on 29th Jan 2021, and its sales were 82,397 on 10th Feb 2022. At that point it was 17,603 away from 100k.

Friday 9th June 2023 marked 70 weeks since 10th Feb 2022. This suggests that its average weekly total is less than 251 copies. Whereas between Jan 2021 and Feb 2022 figures its weekly average was roughly 420 a week.

I feel like it could be getting quite close to Gold, we'll see. For an album that was quite a disaster on arrival, going Gold would be a good outcome!
