I'm ok with only six days - in a way I'd prefer it. Since I have at least another hour tonight to listen to some songs, then all day tomorrow off school, I could have voted by tomorrow evening. Then I'd be bored.

But in all fairness, I know some people will want/need two weeks

I wouldn't be able to listen to all of the 48 songs on youtube (!) in 6 days even if i wanted, so 2 weeks for voting is good

Also, unless there are mp3's this time too the order plays the role! Being 9th is not very promising

The record seems to indicate that going earlier seems to give you the advantage actually...you either want to be in the first three, in the middle three (or 14th-16th) or the last song.

atm I'm just listening to all the songs, if it is something I don't like I mark them with red, if there is something I like I mark it with green, and yellow if I'm not sure and need to listen to it one more time

So far I'm impressed

Oh. If it's any reconciliation or whatever, just so you guys know, I listen to the songs randomly. I don't follow the order on the first page. Sometimes I do it alphabetically, sometimes I reverse the alphabet and do it with artists Z->A. Sometimes I choose the song titles etc... so it doesn't really matter where you are for me.

I'm going to take my time listening to all of the songs during these two weeks. And at a minimum I'll listen to each song at least two times to give it a chance I follow the list in order btw and haven't heard so much yet, so this is going to be interesting, definitely

I do listen to the songs in order, and I think it affects voting a little bit, but if your song is simply amazing, then it shouldn't matter where in the order you are. But I'll try and listen to all of these songs twice, and my favourites will be straight onto the Mp3 player

Been listening through all day (in random order) and hit the first song I strongly dislike. It's a shame as the music is actually great but the vocals/singing = DIRE. If it was an instrumental I would have rated it 9/10, and an acapella would be 0/10, so it will have to be a 4.5/10 then

Will vote soonish I should think, listened to each track three times now, could vote for about 20 actually so 15 still requires a bit of culling. My ratings;

Loving them all being together Lots of average songs but I guess that comes from the lack of semis anyway, plenty of fantastic ones though Surprisingly nothing that I hated, because the music in my bottom placed song was really good, just the vocals were unbearable.

Posting comments here sorted into alphabetic order. I don't think it gives much away, but it might intrigue.

- 80's beat. Music tinny. Vocals run of the mill.
- A bad joke?
- Amazing musical quality intro. Vocals weird. Different.
- Attentive piano notes playing to the long build up. Anthem.
- Average
- BJ friendly
- Charming intro. Amazing vocalist. Musically poor, but more then made up with the beautiful vocals.
- Charming jam. Light and easy. Short
- Cheerful, makes you wanna dance
- Comes on well. Choppy turns harmonic. Quite different to anything else, vocals autotuned.
- Dark and miserable. Hard to listen to.
- Dated, short, background music, chorus nice.
- Difficult at first, so cluttered. Gets better, but still messy.
- Enchanting anthem like track. Vocal in the chorus are superb.
- Energy, Gaga esque sound, good vocals like P!nk. Nothing much else after first 1:30. Last minute dull.
- Er, to foreign to connect with. Pleasant enough but not memorable. Vocally nice ending
- Erotic video with weird noises
- Extreme
- Familiar
- Funky beat. Tunage. Poor ending
- Genetic, no energy
- Good beat. Requires a few listens
-- Great electric intro. Hit a plateau.
- Great intro. Good production. Foreign language. Musical breakdown weak. Went nowhere
- Great opening vocals. Great beat. Naff ending
- Great start. Good energy but cluttered sound.
- Happy intro. Kinda to easy listening
- Hypnotic and dancelike. Pity it's not in english. Brave whoever entered this.
- Luv dizz song
- I think this maybe a hit in the US although I rejected it as my BJSC entry.
- Intro ripoff(musically). Upbeat otherwise music weak. Depends a lot on groups vocals, which aren't great.
- Jacko intro. Well produced fresh sound.
- Just average
- Kinda innocent. Nice album tune.
- Kinda strange. Can't get into it.
- Liking the intro. Summer car tune. Doesn't go anywhere.
- Nice build but disappears into blandness
- Nice vocalist with trashy rap, urgh
- Plenty of production. Parts great. Breakdown poor
- Pop tune, with vocals sounding like a certain BJ friendly female
- Retro catatonia
- Soft vocal sound. Pleasant but average. Naff ending.
- Sounds like Mel C. Starts well, no peak, quite a bit of filling.
- Sugababe copycats anyone? Can't sing so well. Poor tune.
- Superb building intro. Haunting vocals chorus. Lovin' this.
- Uninspiring and dull album filler.
- Upbeat. Hot chick. The brass instruments don't work well.
- Would of entered this if wasn't taken. Great tune. Should win or at least be Top5

Anyway, nearly halfway through listening, and discovered a track by an artist I always hated, with a track I LOVE. Then again, it could be something to do with the video (No it's not N-Dubz).

I've listened today to 20 songs of which 4 are 9.5 or higher.

But unless you are going on holiday/are too busy, etc. I think I'm going to leave it to near the end to vote to decide my order with the pointage.

I didn't rip it. I just clicked to play and got it from the Cache on my computer, as i did with most of mp3's in the bunch.

I just sort all of the files in that folder (they have blank extension and random name so you won't find it there like 'Le Kid - Escape.mp3 haha!) by date and when i start playing the song it downloads to that folder; i can see the file size changing, that is the file i want. Plus it must be around mp3's usual size anyway. It's extremely affective and non time consuming! <3

Google the location of this folder (depends on the browser and system under which your PC is working) and ease your life

Considering there are as many as 48 songs to listen to, I'm surprised I only disliked one of them, and even the music on that one was great, so I didn't strongly dislike any of the field - very strong final and if we'd had semis this month I can only imagine the sort of bloodbath we would have seen.

Well, videos make songs grow as hell sometimes! But i rarely watch videos anyway too, only the hyped ones or when i'm just in the mood (that's how i found my entry I couldn't choose between Stoffer & Maskinen songs and the video didn't leave any doubts AT ALL what i was going to send! ).

Maybe it's just you who sees the similarities, I do too but not to that extent. Who knows it could be the case of Kele's Tenderoni when he didn't sample anybody although the song sounds both like Luciana/Bodyrox 'Yeah Yeah' and Mason 'Perfect Exceeder' at the same time.

But at the end of the day, we're judging the songs here, not videos. I know videos can enhance songs, but I feel that the songs that don't have videos would be at a disadvantage, and that's just not fair. I also have the videos on the background like gooddelta, so that i'm not influenced positively or negatively by them, and then I can remain neutral with my judging.

actually I'm liking the big final...2 weeks is enough to judge the songs in proper way...some of the songs that I thought I'm liking are really nothing after 5-6 listens...3 weeks ago I was sure that one song will get top marks...but now I got bored...also I'm trying to be fair in equally measures with songs I've discovered through this contest and the songs I already knew...but still undecided with the ranks...I seriously love all 15 songs...and if the country I'm awarding with 1 point is not happy then f*** you very much cause I worked hard making this list .

Been through the entries twice now. The standard is very high.
It's really impressive how many outstanding tunes are amoung the entries.


From the first listen to the second the best gainers for me have been the foreign language entries and those a bit different and the biggest falls the commercial records especially those with commercial videos.

I think I prefer the new format. Not only does everyone qualify, but we get a chance to vote for all our favorite songs. Plus the extra points to hand out made it easier for me to choose, otherwise it would be a nightmare

I have to say, I wouldn't mind either way. I do love all of the advantages listed above, particularly the fact that everyone gets to compete in the final, but as Freeze suggested might happen, it has been a bit dead in here at times in the last two weeks, to the extent that I had to start the predicta thread myself (which I never run!) to try and get some chat going

I wonder how many of those are entirely down to BJSC? I'd heard and been charting both The Flood and Airplanes for weeks before they were confirmed here. Will be interesting to see if any of the 'unknown' songs make the multichart, I'm guessing not this month, it's a pretty rare occurence.

My system of rating each song out of 10 was easily applied to the new format so I had no problems, in fact if anything I found it easier seeing as we now have five more countries that we can give points to. Most of the rubbish usually thrown out in the semis, so I can't say it's massively better quality at the top end than usual. 2 weeks was a massive amount of time to listen to 48 songs as well - 3 per day if you like!

However, part of me does still miss the semis despite all of the advantages the 'big final' has.

I am also a user of the '/10' system. I knock out the $h!te first time round and narrow down whats left until i have 10 [now 15] and then try to order them. If i'm pushed for time i'll give em all a run through, drop the $h!te then use the recap to order them

I am another person who uses the /10 system. Most of the time I spent ordering my favourites, my Top 5/10 pretty much never changed since first listen, just their order. Although there are exceptions, in the last day or so, some songs I wrote off I began to like. Actually, it was a real underdog that got my 18 points, it wasn't even in My Top 15 until last night Some songs really do need a few listens before their brilliance is unveiled.

the chorus in Airplanes is definitely better than Where'd you go...but musically (is it ok to say the bass only) on Fort Minor track is better.

I also think Makes Me Wanna Die will storm to victory now with Airplanes/Home/The Flood filling in the top four in whichever order.

Same here actually, I did consider sending it myself infact. Before I got completely over it in the space of 4 days Like you say though, still a good song, and I rated it in line with the fact that I'd liked the song enough to make my chart in the first place.
