=5th. Deeper and Deeper = 8 votes

Welcome to Round 11 of Madonna's 'GHV2' survivor poll and finishing in joint 6th place we lose the beginning and tail end tracks of the album 'Deeper and Deeper' & 'Music', both of which received 8 votes and were therefore both eliminated, leaving just 4 songs left in the running. Nothing was safe in that last round as all the remaining songs garnered votes. 'The Power of Goodbye' & 'Don't Tell Me' gained the 2nd highest amount of votes each with 4, the first time for both to receive any votes, and finally 'Frozen' also gets a vote for the first time, as does 'Ray of Light'

For now gonna talk about 'Deeper and Deeper', released in November 1992 as the 2nd single from her 5th studio album 'Erotica' and was written and produced by Madonna and Shep Pettibone, with additional writing from Anthony Shimkin. Upon release the song met with positive reviews. Music critics hailed it as one of Madonna's strongest disco inspired tracks and complimented its refreshing dance oriented nature. It was also commercially successful; peaking at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the top ten in several countries including Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, while topping the charts in Italy.

Blending together house beats with swirling keyboards and flamenco guitars, the song is both a product of its time as well as being a timeless Madonna classic. Its one of the few tracks on said album that's not bogged down or muddled by the gritty production and just stands as a great fun pop song, definitely one of her strongest and best singles from the early 90's period, which was dare I say it a bit of a hit and miss period of Madonna's career, thankfully the latter half of the decade her songs got better.

=5th. Music = 8 votes

Now we come to the tail end of the album with Madonna's first proper introduction to the 00's, 'Music', released in August 2000 as the lead single from her 8th studio album of the same title and was written and produced by her with Mirwais Ahmadzaï. It is a disco and electro-funk song in a static key of G minor. Madonna's vocals are electronically manipulated in the track, with the lyrics having political and social undertones and reiterating the uniting power of music. Upon release the song was praised by critics and became a massive commercial success, peaking at number-one on the record charts of major markets, including Australia, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Becoming her 12th and to date final chart topper in the latter country.

This was a great way to close this collection with its retro club beats and vintage synth sounds; even Madonna’s chirpy vocals recall her initial heyday. I like the back to basics approach of this with its themes of dance, celebration, unity and of course music in this thumping track that okay does sound a little dated now (having Ali G in the music video dates it even more), but still the song is a hell of a good time and came at a fantastic time in Madonna's career where she could do no wrong, and also marks a perfect introduction to her 8th album.

Right then just 4 songs left, and it will just be single votes from now on and usual rules apply just vote for your least fave by the next round, which will be sometime next week.

Results so Far:
5. Deeper and Deeper = 8/30.77%

Deeper & Deeper / Music would be joint 5th, not joint 6th!

I've voted for Don't Tell Me.

I went for 'Don't Tell Me' but these are all 10/10s.

Pleased to see 'Deeper & Deeper' made it to the Top 5 despite signs it may have left as early as Round 2!

On any other occasion Don't Tell Me would easily be my vote but I have been loving it SO MUCH recently.

Going to mull this over for a bit.

Went for frozen . It’s a masterpiece but it’s the song i play the least.

Regarding deeper and deeper , really surprised this didn’t go top 5 ! Love the song but I really hate the video . It doesn’t connect with me at all. I get what she was doing but not a fan !

I've voted Don't Tell Me because it's only recently become a massive for me whereas the others I've loved for years!
