...But what about "Gangnam Style" by PSY? Well, there was no European chart broadcast on MTV Europe between August 2012 and the end of 2013...

1 Miley Cyrus - Midnight Sky 1 Up

It's a little difficult to determine exactly but it seems like MTV Europe has changed its schedule. Now the "Euro Top Chart" is broadcast from 9:30 to 11:30 CET on Friday and from 6:00 to 8:00 CET on Sunday.
"Midnight Sky" by Miley Cyrus returns to number 1 - this is its fourth (nonconsecutive) week there. Now the song has had 3 separate runs at the top.
And at number 13 we find "Hot Stuff" - yet another collaboration of Kygo with an extremely famous singer with a long career. This is the first time Donna Summer appears in MTV Europe's European chart - at least since September 1989!

1 David Guetta & Sia - Let's Love

The big question is: how come "Mood" hasn't appeared in this chart yet??

1 Master KG & Nomcebo - Jerusalema 2 Up

AT LAST!!!!!! "Jerusalema" by Master KG and Nomcebo reached number 2 several months ago and has spent all the time since then in the Top 10... yet only now, at the end of November, does it climb to the very top of this chart!
It's wonderful to see a song which hasn't really had success in the UK singles chart (its peak position there so far is number 55) but has done extremely well in other European countries become number 1 in MTV Europe's European chart!
Until now MTV Europe played the original version of "Jerusalema". In this edition of the chart for the first time they played the remix including Burna Boy.
It's also notable that MTV Europe didn't play the official video of "Hawai" by Maluma (currently at number 31) but a live performance.
And let's just appreciate the amazing longevity of "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd. It reached number 1 in February and is still here 9 months later. The song just refuses to leave and even rebounds 32-15 this week!

1 Master KG & Nomcebo - Jerusalema 3 Up

MTV Europe played "Forever Young" by Becky Hill even though the video was released only several days ago. So they really have no excuse for not playing songs with recently released videos!
This year strange things are happening with Dua Lipa's singles. "Levitating" peaked at number 8 at the beginning of September. A month ago her next single, "Fever", debuted in the chart and MTV Europe stopped playing "Levitating". "Fever" still hasn't managed to reach the Top 10... but now "Levitating" appears again at a new peak position - number 6!
And what's happening with "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd is just amazing. The song reached number 1 in February. Not only is it still here 10 months later, this week it even jumps back to the Top 3, going 18-3!!!!!!

It's remarkable that none of the old Christmas songs appear in the chart. Instead, a new one is here - "This Christmas" by Jess Glynne at number 3.
"Prisoner" by Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa returns to number 1 for a second week there. However, what's more interesting is what happened to last week's chart-topper - "Jerusalema"... It's not even in the Top 20 anymore! It has fallen all the way down to number 22!
And "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd might be the most successful song in MTV Europe's European chart EVER. It reached number 1 in February... 10 months later, in the last edition of the chart for the year 2020, "Blinding Lights" is at number 2!?...

Once again MTV Europe broadcast a special edition of the chart - for the whole year 2020! They didn't broadcast it during the last week of 2020 but during the first week of 2021.
This must be the strangest special edition of MTV Europe's European chart EVER. There are many questionable inclusions. "TKN" by Rosalia and Travis Scott and "Be Kind" by Marshmello and Halsey didn't even reach the Top 20 of this chart during the year!
However, the most baffling examples are "Sunday Best" by Surfaces and "Put It All On Me" by Ed Sheeran and Ella Mai. Both of these songs HAVEN'T APPEARED IN THE CHART AT ALL (or at least MTV Europe never played them)!?…
There are also notable omissions - especially songs that reached number 1. Here are the chart-toppers from 2020 which weren't included in this edition: "Don't Start Now" by Dua Lipa; "Yummy" by Justin Bieber; "Stupid Love" by Lady GaGa; "Physical" by Dua Lipa; "Roses" by SAINt JHN; "Times Like These" by Live Lounge Allstars; "ily" by Surf Mesa (which spent a total of 4 weeks at the top of the chart); "What's Love Got To Do With It" by Kygo and Tina Turner (which also spent a total of 4 weeks at the top of the chart); "Positions" by Ariana Grande; and "Prisoner" by Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa.

Is this the first time we have a year end chart in a few years?
