Day 01. A show that should have never been cancelled: Flashforward

My answer to this had long been Heroes - not that the quality had always been strong but I'd felt there was still a lot of potential in the show. However, I didn't enjoy Heroes Reborn as much as I'd hoped, largely because it was halfway between this weird continuation of the series (which didn't feel right) and a new version of the show. It should have picked one and ran with it. Anyway, going to my actual pick, it's a bit of an odd one but I remember it took me a while to get into Flashforward but I really loved it once I did but then it got axed. It was at the time of US channels trying to replicate the success of Lost and I wish one of the mystery dramas had actually succeeded

Also, shoutout to Pushing Daisies - just on the basis of the weird world it created and the absolutely amazing garish sets

Day 01. A show that should have never been cancelled



Happy Endings. This is a simple one because for me there is no other choice that has broken my heart as much as Happy Endings being cancelled after only three seasons. It was one of the funniest comedies on air and one of the few comedies I can rewatch again and again (the others being Community, Parks&Rec and Arrested Development). The humour was always funny and so often very sneaky so it's great on rewatches as you're still catching jokes you never noticed. All of the characters are important to the plot and to everyone who was/is on the Friends train this improves upon that concept of 6 friends SO much. Brad & Jane are couple goals, Max is one of THE best gay characters on TV ever, Penny is the most hilarious TV characters ever period and Alex is the prime example of someone who people thing are very one dimensional but secretly she's actually hilarious having said so many "sneakily funny" things. The show ended way too soon and I wish it hadn't because it was already improving upon each previous season so it was only bound to get better (if we look past the fact that they were trying to make Dave and Penny a thing which, no thx).

Honorable Mentions:
- Cold Case (idc about the cast so much but the premise is one of my fav cop show premises ever)
- Pushing Daisies (who even made this decision? the show was winning awards left and right, this made no sense whatsoever)
- Veronica Mars (thankfully getting a mini-season renewal in 2019 iirc. Kristen Bell can really do no wrong but I fear it may be too long)

Day 01. A show that should have never been cancelled

Random obscure one but it's the only recent one I can think of rn, The Secret Daughter! It was an Australian drama starring Jessica Mauboy, her character is a country girl who finds out by chance she is actually the daughter of a wealthy hotel owner.

It was nothing groundbreaking, but I was surprised at how good it was with loads of twists and turns, some likeable characters as well as ones you loved to hate, a bit of comedy and some drama, Jess was a brilliant actress in it. Seven Network just didn't really care in Season 2, iirc it had a great slot in season 1 and solid ratings because of it, but they messed it around in season 2 by changing it god knows how many times so people probably had no idea when it was on and just didn't bother, so the ratings dived and then they binned it practically as soon as season 2 was done despite there being a cliffhanger with a fire at the end

Day 01. A show that should have never been cancelled | Travelers



I've gone for a show that actually had the potential to run longer and still keep up the quality. Primeval crossed my mind but the quality had definitely declined, and Teen Wolf too but the actors were growing up and it couldn't really continue any longer with "teen wolves" played by actors in their late 20s/early 30s lol.

So I got to Travelers. Three seasons, all very high quality. Originally a joint partnership between Netflix and Canadian broadcaster Showcase, the latter dropped out after season 2 so Netflix went it alone for season 3. Unfortunately news broke this month of its cancellation, which is a huge shame. The conclusion of season 3 is actually quite a good wrap-up anyway, but there was still the potential for a season 4 and I'm gutted that one isn't coming. The characters were all really well-developed and there were constant twists and turns that made it interesting. Shame it never really seemed to catch on big time.

One of the most fresh, aesthetically beautiful and innovative dramas that really felt like it had a much more unique and intriguing take on conspiracy thrillers. I loved it so much at the time I wrote my whole dissertation for my final year of uni about it! Alas, didn't get the high viewership and was cancelled after two seasons, but while the second wasn't as good as the first, I still think there was a lot more of a mystery to tell and more they could do with it, that I'm so sad it'll be remembered as a mere footnote in Channel 4's back catalogue that barely anyone watched

I don't have a problem with ending a show before the writers run out of ideas, but this surely had at least one more series before that happened. It was a great example of how to make a good show on a fairly small (i.e. BBC3) budget.

Day 1 - Dallas

I don't mean the original series which ended at the right time but the recent revival which was cancelled after series 3. It didn't have big viewing figures but I enjoyed it. Having watched the original series,it was good to have it back with a mixture of old and new characters. Series 1 and 2 didn't end with huge cliffhangers,perhaps the writers were not confident with being renewed,but series 3 did have some cliffhangers at the end and these are still unresolved.

I could have gone with any of the Netflix MCU shows but I suspect I will use them in future answers so I decided to go with this. Despite the originally silly sounding premise, it's one of the smartest and funniest shows I've seen in years and it's a tragedy that Netflix cancelled it. While the whole show is awesome every episode is filled with little moments and details and the twists made it perfect for bingewatching. The whole cast in season 1 were brilliant and the two leads honestly make you forget you're watching a mockumentary and not a true doc.

In the Flesh reminds me of The Fades which was another BBC Three show that shouldn’t have been cancelled. I think both shows were limited by BBC Three’s budget which I think only allowed for one/two drama series a year or something. The Fades wouldn’t be the first pick for me but it had a great cast and I remember really enjoying it

Day 01. A show that should have never been cancelled: Girl Meets World



I know what you're thinking: "Disney Channel? Really?" I toyed with like three different shows, but this one most recently has been the one that has stuck with me as a "Really? They cancelled this show?" moment.

This was probably among the last bastions of quality Disney Channel, and I don't think I've seen anything that debuted after be as good as this until Andi Mack. This was the sequel to Boy Meets World, a show that pretty much every 90's kid/baby in the US knows about, and it was very much like its parent show, only more Disneyfied and covered different topics (and some of the characters seemed borderline Mary Sue-ish but that's a story for another time). For those who don't know the show, it follows the daughter of the now married Cory and Topanga (two main characters from BMW) and her friends as they grow up and tackle problems that are pretty commonplace in the average adolescent. The show also tied in some cameos by characters from the parent show (every episode with Shawn Hunter is my favorite), some of which helped tie up loose ends. And things really kicked off in Season 2 when the show went past its exposition phase and started developing the characters more.

When I heard that the show was gonna get canned after Season 3, I was shocked. The show was top quality, it had a large demographic range that it appealed to well, Sabrina's music career was taking off, and I thought it would at least make the four-season watermark that most Disney Channel shows would reach (or at the most break that ceiling). This was a cancellation that shocked me not because it left at a cliffhanger or nobody was watching it, but more because it didn't make sense. Why cancel a show when it's clear it hasn't hit its peak yet? Plots were in full swing, there's still much more of the characters that needed to be fleshed out, more relationships needed to be tested. This was probably Disney Channel's biggest mistake, and while Andi Mack kinda softens the blow, there was still a huge hole that needed to be filled. I would have loved to see it get a Netflix renewal, but it would have faced stiff competition in Fuller House, and Freeform already had The Fosters/Good Trouble, so I'm not entirely sure where it would have gone But it's definitely a show that should have lasted much longer than it did.

An honorable mention to Jane By Design which left at a horrible cliffhanger and had the potential to do much more than it already had.

1. Show that should have never been cancelled - The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya

I feel I go on about this show all the time but it is at the pinnacle of both anime and is constantly brought up as one needing another season among anime fans. (because of the nature of anime what with voice actors having no aging problems, shows are rarely 'cancelled' and just put on indefinite hold, but it's been long enough to say we're probably not getting another one). The unadapted light novels show there's so much more that could have been done with adventures of the S.O.S Brigade messing the universe up ridiculously in a TV format, and with five ludicrously unique students encountering sci-fi phenomena, could have made for an amazing season 3. Particularly given the second season was half-weighed down by eight of its 13 episodes being nearly all the same episode in a very literal Groundhog Day style plot, it didn't feel like we got as much as we should have.

Also honourable mention to Star Trek: Enterprise - which got cancelled right as it was getting good and potentially leading up to a Romulan War, to rival the Dominion War from Deep Space Nine maybe.

Day 1: A show that shouldn't have been cancelled

Class



Class was a Doctor Who spin-off in 2016 that expanded on the Who-niverse by taking a look inside Coal Hill School (the school from the very first Doctor Who story An Unearthly Child, which would make a return in the 8th series of Nu Who). I digged this show during my time in 6th form, and got really invested in the universe of the show, as well as most of its characters (especially Ms. Quill). The last episode The Lost, ended on a cliffhanger that (from what I recall) showed a dramatic scene where it showed April with the eyes of the Shadow Kin before suddenly fading to black. It left me really interested to see what would happen next and what other threats lie near Coal Hill, but alas, it was axed.

It's sad when arc-driven shows have to end before given a proper closure, because more questions and theories involving the features of its universe that catch our eyes are left in the dust to be unanswered.


I also heard that The Sopranos' final episode unexpectedly cut to a black screen before it properly finished. Even as someone that hasn't seen an episode of The Sopranos at the time of posting this, I feel bad for the viewers invested in the show that were waiting to see how it would end off, because again, it leaves them questions begging to be answered.

Day 02 - more people should be watching Mob Psycho 100

At the pinnacle of storytelling right now, a psychic boy and his con-artist 'psychic' mentor tackling all sorts of malevolent spirits and teaching each other how to be better people, beautifully written and only improving with each new episode. Going to be a classic of this decade for sure.

Warning: not the live-action version that's made its way onto Netflix somehow, from all accounts that's terrible and a key player in the Netflix adaptation meme.

Big Brother UK. Now this may sound weird but the thing is most of the shows I watch I have plenty of people to talk to about so this isn't really an issue I run into often but here is a show that was essentially cancelled and fell off the deep end because the viewer numbers were falling drastically (so they became desperate as a result which all kind of ruined the show). I wish we'd get a new series with big viewing numbers so things could feel organic again and whatever. I just had no idea what to say for this question lmao.

Day 2: A show you wish more people were watching

For me, it was a tossup between Cleverman and the Strike miniseries, but I eventually went with the former.



Cleverman

A young boy called Koen is given the powers of a Cleverman to protect a subhuman race that is a currently a huge target for discrimination. It takes a great look into racism and corrupt politics, and also does an interesting alternative to subverting the 'chosen one' cliche. Rather than just relying on Koen being the 'chosen one', it shows us that Koen was the wrong brother to have been given the powers to and shows his struggles with these powers. The Season 2 finale was a great way to close off the series, and the cliffhanger leaves me wanting more. Here's to hoping the show doesn't get canned before the cliffhanger is resolved.

Animals. (HBO)
An incredibly niche show that I just happened to discover, basically just talking cartoon animals (with sex, violence, drugs, alcohol, bad language, etc. etc. etc.). Choc-a-bloc with guest voice actors, too many notable guests to list

The Last Man On Earth
Probably more to Buzzjacks taste A cute little show about a guy who thinks hes the last survivor after a disease decimates the Earth. Obviously other people show up over time and they start a community. An incredibly hilarious show but because of how little reception there really was to it and the creators were expecting to be cancelled at any time, every season ended in a way that it sort of could be the end of the show completely. Will Forte, Kristen Schaal, January Jones, Mary Steenburgen, make up some of the main cast plus the likes of Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen, Will Ferrel, Jon Hamm, Laura Dern, Jack Black, and Martin Short show up Highly recommend for some light-hearted-but-still-quite-dark-comedy


Day 02. A show that you wish more people were watching
iZombie
SUCH a great show here. One of my favourite 'new' shows (in it's 5th and final season this year but still new compared to most of what I watch). Basically about zombies in Seattle but tame zombies and just like regular humans aside from weird cravings and hair that changes white overnight It starts off very slow tbh but really picks up especially in the second half of season 2. It turns from teen 'rom-com-zom-drom' to more of a drama show later on and gets so much better 10/10. It's based on a comic series too!

I feel like I used to be the king of watching flop shows, so I would have been able to answer this a lot better a few years ago - now some of my fave shows that would have been seen as underrated have exploded in popularity (Black Mirror), are SLOWLY getting cult status (Inside No. 9) or I joined when it already had ultimate cult status (Arrested Development). And now, there's so much TV that I'm ultimately watching show that there's that hype for already and there's less opportunity to find those talked about shows.

Sooo, I've gone for a show that has actually ended (with a natural ending) but it never really got the attention that it should have done. It was a great satirical look at US networks and, in particular, the differences between UK and US television and how most US adapations of UK hits don't really end up working. You also had Matt LeBlanc playing a brilliantly over the top Hollywood version of himself where he continually has selfish motivations. Plus, Daisy Haggard's amazing facial expressions. The whole series is on Netflix to enjoyyy

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

It's critically acclaimed and all plus has it fans, but this should be huge, I think it's near the bottom of ratings :/ It's hilarious, so clever, touching and tackles things like mental health so so well which is really important. It toes the line of being funny but real, devastating but warm, the songs are sometimes so literal that it's hilarious. All the characters are likeable and add something to the show, I can't really think of any fillers as even the random background characters who pop up now and again but don't have plots usually have something funny to say. The songs are bops too, and Rachel Bloom is such a star and deserves more awards for this. Plus Josh/Nathaniel/White Josh/both Gregs are hot af x

Day 02. A show that you wish more people were watching: Dynasty



I’m just gonna go for a show that more people on this forum should be watching I’m not necessarily an expert on ratings.

I only started watching this show (after seeing a clip on Instagram) and I probably only came here because of Liz Gillies, but I was pretty surprised by how drama packed it is. It’s very soap opera-ish on paper, I mean the plot revolves around a rich family who owns a corporation wth shady intentions, but there really is much more to the story. The plots don’t overpower each other as much and don’t feel too shoehorned in, and a lot of the characters are likeable despite the plot leading us otherwise lol. Definitely worth it to see both children try to stick it to their dad, whether it be by forming a rival company or having a relationship with his newest wife’s so-called cousin.

Obviously a popular show and started off with very high ratings but it seems that they have been really dropping off while the quality has been improving each season. One of the most consistently great shows on TV and I know absolutely no-one who actually watches it.

I'm on season 4 of Lost and I'd say it's still pretty great! definitely stick with it, I won't say anything else as I could use it for another day here

Also:

Day 02. A show that you wish more people were watching: Inside No. 9

I mean Klaus alluded to it, but it still needs to be mentioned as nowhere near enough people are watching it that should be. One of the cleverest, boundary pushing and original shows there is, every episode just shocks you with how it veers completely away from what you were expecting by the end, and the anthology layout means it never really feels samey and there's so many different genres and styles available. Particularly for those that have a taste for macabre perhaps, but highly recommended for all.

I definitely enjoy Seasons 1-3 of the Lost more than the latter three as, for me, it started becoming a bit self-indulgent and introducing concepts it didn’t need to. I preferred Season 6 the most out of the latter three though.

Inside No. 9 definitely is a ahow that needs loads more praise, so much variety there and so many emotional journies you go on in half an hour!

Day 02. A show that you wish more people were watching: The Man In The High Castle


I absolutely loved Hard Sun but I'm not surprised it get axed when it was pulling in dismal ratings. It just really bugs me that it ended without any development into the big catastrophic event and the bad ratings mean we will never see the chaotic world that was to come :/

And then The Man In The High Castle, I feel like barely anyone watches it. The visuals are stunning of Nazi occupied America - a seriously amazing job of pulling together what that type of world might have been like. And Season 3 is easily the best so far with so many twists and turns and much better writing for the lead characters.

Day 1: A show that should have never been cancelled: Faking It



This was SO good. I really feel it just a) didn't have the right platform to be a proper hit (seeing as MTV seem to love cancelling the brand new teen dramas they create), and b) was before its time. This would probably be a major hit on Netflix right now if it were to be resurrected and more seasons made, although maybe not without some controversy. Plus they knew how to keep the gays entertained with Gregg Sulkin and Michael Willett constantly shirtless. For the 3 seasons that aired though, I'd become so attached to the characters and it's a shame we didn't get to see a proper end to all the stories.

Honourable mention: The Job Lot; this is probably one of the funniest British comedies I've watched in a while - even if I was roughly 5 years late to the party. I'm constantly going back and rewatching on Netflix whenever I can't be bothered starting anything new. Sarah Hadland is hilarious.

Day 2: A show that you wish more people were watching: I really can't think of anything for this one, oops. I'll edit in if I manage to come up with one.

Day 02. A show that you wish more people were watching: The Fosters



It's over now but The Fosters aired for five excellent seasons, delving into the life of a modern family. Two moms, one biological child and four adopted, and all of the hurdles each of them face along the way. It's warm, easy viewing but with some hard-hitting issues tackled along the way. Just the sort of show everyone should be talking about!

Day 02. A show that you wish more people were watching The Bold Type is the first that comes to mind but there's probs loads I could put for this. I think you can only stream it on Amazon Prime or possibly Hulu aswell meaning it's not the most accessible series (again it would slay on Netflix) but it has everything you could ever want in a current tv series tbh, it reminds me of Ugly Betty except it's more about female friendships and social issues etc

Day 03. Your favourite new show



Sex Education. This is by far the best new show I've seen in a while. I was absolutely obsessed with it when I discovered it in January and I so wish I had more episodes to binge because it's just soooo good!! The characters are all great, the setting and feel of the show is so ambiguous (there's both british and american styles to the show) and the time period even more so (80s music? 90s clothes? 2010s slang? who knows when the hell this show is supposed to happen). Then of course the best thing about this show is how informative it is and how cleverly it addresses the issues it faces. Sexuality is one of those issues that has long been sort of taboo (although that's finally changing in recent years) and sex education has, at least in my country, been insufficient for a long time so this show is finally teaching young people more than just how to put a damn condom on a banana lol.

Day 03 - Your favourite new show

My answer is going to rely on me being a LITTLE TINY bit consumed by The Promised Neverland, a gripping anime thriller with danger around every corner, and a world that is both compelling and almost entirely mysterious at this point in the series, bar a couple of horrific facts we got in the first episode to set up the premise. And no, I'm not writing down what it's about, it's best experienced for oneself.

Recently saw this on Netflix last month and I absolutely adored it.
I love how in the episodes, they transition between past and present through the use of random objects being shown on the screen or through lines said by a character. It gives a unique presentation.
The ensemble of characters well-written and backed with excellent acting to bring them to life. Most of them recieve great character development throughout the episodes.
The show's dark tone also comes with heart-breaking themes (such as Luke's drug addiction and Nell's nightmares involving the Bent-Neck Lady) and some unexpected twists to give off a downbeat vibe to the show.
It's a must watch for any horror fans.

I mean I just started this so a bit of a WIP for now, but of all the new shows, this certainly hooked me in very quickly. A 19th Century drama which is a fictionalised account of the lost expedition to the Arctic by Captain Sir John Franklin where they are stalked by a strange monster. It's proved very good at establishing suspense and really going where you don't expect it to, any fans of horror I would highly recommend this to!

I was not expecting this to be so dark. Kiernan Shipka is brilliant and is a future star in the making. The sub-plots about her friends are pretty uninteresting but every time the focus is on Sabrina or her family the show is electric. The last time a hit teen show did a related series focused on adding magical elements it was pretty rubbish (looking at you Ravenswood) but this one is so good and I would say works much better than Riverdale.

ugh this one is tough because most of the stuff I’ve watched recently has been catching up on new seasons of older shows and it depends on how you would classify new! I would go for Mindhunter as that as only had one season but it was released 2017, then Derry Girls is one of my favourite comedies of the last year along with The End of the f***ing World and both have upcoming new series. Baptiste has only had one episode broadcast a couple of days ago and is even then a spin-off and The Haunting of Hill House has had a few mentions already!

I’ve gone for Maniac even though it was a one-off series but I loved how visual it was and how each episode took you to an entirely different place with a great mix of genres - as well as (as expected) excellent acting from the two leads. I know it wasn’t for everyone but I certainly had a blast watching. Shoutouts to Disenchantment & Russian Doll, the first of which I’m definitely interested in seeing more of and the second I’ve only got the finale to go, so I’m left wondering whether it has potential for further seasons or not!

Favourite new show - The Crimson Rivers.

This is a French police drama being shown on More4. As ever, the two lead characters have a back story but that doesn't generally get in the way of the main plot. Maybe not quite up to the standard of the best Stand dramas, but still pretty good.

Day 03. Your favourite new show: All American



At first it tried to market itself as a Gen Z version of Friday Night Lights/One Tree Hill (which is how I got my sister into it) and the first thing I thought was "oh well at least Cody will keep me interested " The arcs are among the best I've seen in the TV shows I've watched and they tackle so many topics with grace and class (police brutality, gang violence, Olivia's recovery from a previous overdose, Coop's struggles coming out, Asher's home life, the list goes on). I know it's only the first season, but their focus on the main plot is impeccable and the ensemble really keeps everything together. The other thing that I love about the ensemble is how they're minority-driven, but the show doesn't force feed the idea that it's minority-driven. They let the talent and the characters speak for themselves. I honestly hope to God this gets renewed because it's probably the first time we've had a really good teen drama that didn't rely on a gimmick like Riverdale or The Vampire Diaries did since... probably Gossip Girl.

Shoutouts to Pose (pretty much for the same reasons as above, no overpowering plot and every member of the ensemble holds their own) and Deadly Class (for surprising me with making their concept work).

Day 03. Your favourite new show: Good Trouble



On the topic of The Fosters, Callie and Mariana go it alone in the new spin-off. We're around the halfway mark of its first season now and it's brilliant. It's like the older sister of The Fosters, more mature and perhaps a bit less "homely" but that's just how Callie and Mariana are feeling with their new jobs, so it's conveyed perfectly. The supporting characters are all strong and interesting, and of course the central characters remain so strong.

100% agree about Atypical having some really unlikeable characters. Obviously there's Elsa but sometimes I find myself feeling sorry for her. Doug and Julia kinda annoy me. Like Lindsey says though, Casey is enough to keep me interested (hopefully her storyline is a key part of season 3), and Sam's great.

Nothing can ever come close - such a long history of the show that it can (and it certainly does!) have terrible episodes that I will rewatch multiple times and end up finding something to love about it. It's the perfect show for me as it can constantly refresh and change itself in a natural way, be completely different each and every week whilst also having the opportunity to dig out stuff from its history and bring things back. It's an absolutely genius idea and it's a show that will never, ever die no matter what happens.

What? Not anime? Yep (oh I am going to have fun on Day 24). And Game Of Thrones isn't unassailable, there are certain anime that come close and also Breaking Bad on occasions. But see, despite how talked about, how overused it is as a comparison, how amazing everyone says it is and how that might put some off, there's a reason why that was. Its star has faded a little with a somewhat underwhelming season 7 and it being a couple of years before the final go this year, but my god if Seasons 1-6 weren't the most gripping, brutal, all-consuming pieces of hype I've ever experienced. It made fantasy, my favourite TV genre, cool to like again. It got me a large majority of my uni friends. It introduced me to the incredibly detailed world of the A Song Of Ice And Fire books - the TV show only scratches the surface for the most presentable bits.

It's a whole world in a TV show and it's a fully realised world with a long history that is taking its cues from actual history, with characters that you're constantly unsure of and yet find compelling to watch whether you hate them or love them, deep, meaningful conversations that make for incredibly well-acted set pieces, shocking twists that make you fear for characters' lives, and the great uncertainty about how it'll turn out. With the fantasy, almost all of my favourite dramatic shows have at least one of those factors, Game Of Thrones combines it into all of them.

Such an easy one to chose. I must have seen every episode at least 50 times and will still never get bored watching it. While it might never truly hit the highs of some of my other favourite shows, I don't believe that there is a single bad episode of Friends and it remained consistently great throughout it's whole run. Ms Chanandler Bong is my favourite character of all-time. I'm just a sucker for a good sitcom really, my other favourite 2 shows would be Community & It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

No shockers here! A show I loved from the moment I started watching in 2006, and nothing has come close since. The Doctor is the best character on television, and every incarnation is intriguing and interesting in their own way. I love how Doctor Who brings such a sense of adventure, making what could easily be a very childish format into something for all ages. The risks and experiments it can take with such a flexible premise has made for some incredible episodes too (and some poor ones, but across 55 years that's a given really). Always such a special show to me!

Day 4: Your favourite show ever


Doctor Who (Nu Who) (NB: I haven't seen a lot of Classic Who)


It was either this or The Simpsons. I eventually settled for this, because while I consider The Simpsons as one of my favourite shows, let alone one of my favourite cartoons, it kind of declined in quality after the movie (It's still mostly solid, despite a few episodes I found to be weak such as Love Is A Many Strangled Thing).
There is an outstanding use of world-building throughout each series, and there is a huge ensemble of enemies and obstacles for the Doctor to face, including one of my favourite villains in all of media, The Daleks.



Speaking of The Doctor, he is a very well-written character with some really interesting lore behind him and how a huge battle he was involved in led to the demise of his home planet Gallifrey.
The soundtrack, whether it's Murray Gold or Segun Akinola composing it, does an excellent job at capturing the atmosphere of Earth and the other planets in the Who-niverse. The latter's score reminds me of the ethereal sound of C Duncan's 2016 album The Midnight Sun (which I did a short review of on AlbumOfTheYear)
My favourite era of Doctor Who (in terms of showrunners) has to be the RTD era, that's when the elements of fantastic worldbuilding and brilliantly written plots are used to their full potential, it also brought in some magnificent episodes such as Army Of Ghosts/Doomsday and Turn Left. Though there will be one post-RTD era episode I might talk about later on in the TV challenge.

Day 04. Your favourite show ever: Teen Wolf



It could not have been anything else. Words cannot describe how much I stan this show. The community is... questionable, but it's really evident that the cast love each other, the chemistry is astounding, and save for a few episodes, there's a lot of suspense to be had. Season 3A is probably one of the best seasons of TV history. I have to tell you, I analyzed the shit out of most of these episodes, especially the series finale. Seeing Scott keep the same insecurities despite the huge change in responsibility was a nice touch. It showed that despite the development, there are some aspects of a character that are hard to change, especially for someone who has gone through so much. You can probably run through the thread (or pretty much anywhere else) to see how much effort I put into talking about it lol

It wasn't the first show I properly stanned (that will come up in a few days), but at the time it was the first show I stanned in a while. With most of the Disney Channel shows I grew up with having gone and the quality dipping so much, it was time to move on to another channel and this show won my heart.

I'm in good company here *.* Can only echo the praise for it already, it was the first show I really remember enjoying back in 2005 when it first premiered when I was only twelve and I was really quite taken in by the adventure, sense of fun and various sci-fi concepts. I'd come to look forward to this every week with it's mix of comedy, horror, mystery and just real entertaining aura, and while there's definitely been a lot of duds, that's part of the package and what makes it so likeable. It tries a lot of things, not all of them work and when they do they can be fantastic, but it's almost always entertaining and always held together by the Doctor's personality and unique take on issues, the formula hasn't tired for me.

Can only echo what everybody else has said already. I remember sitting down to watch it for the first time and being blown away by the action, the monsters, the Doctor, and everything about it. Never thought that I would end up on this journey with the show almost 15 years later, collecting all the figures, becoming invested in all the spin-offs it's produced, etc. It's such a unique show that offers so much to both its fans and casual viewers. Stellar guest casts, regular characters that you really find yourself investing in, or going back and finding they were more brilliant than you first thought, and even to today going back and re-watching episodes and forming new opinions on them, discovering deeper layers than were first visible to you as an 8 year old. There's different aspects of being a fan that have tired on me (i.e. collecting figures, magazines, etc), but the show itself never will, and it'll always have such a special place in my heart.

Day 4 - It's Doctor Who for me as well. I grew up with the original series from Jon Pertwee onwards. The special effects obviously weren't the same as they are now but the stories were well written and with many of them being made up of six 25 minute episodes,there was more space to flesh out the characters that appeared in each story and you would have a cliffhanger each week. I bought books,magazines and board games related to the programme. It was great to see it return in 2005 with a bigger budget.

Scene - veeeery hard to pick just one but the scene I probably laughed the most at was [Jerry/Larry/Gary]'s fart attack scene. It's so god damn simple but it's always the one that comes to mind when I think of what made me laugh the most.
Episode - The final episode was AMAZING and made me cry like a toddler missing his mom.
Character - Leslie is always the best.

It's simply the greatest, most important and most influential sitcom of all time. The writing is superb, brilliant cast and supporting characters, with some great guest stars as well. It's just a fantastic funny show with no emotional attachments whatsoever. Brilliant show.

Day 5: A show I dislike - The Asterisk War

There's the usual suspects, Family Guy, Big Bang Theory, Mrs Brown's Boys, comedy that's been way played out, and bad insipid dramatic series that I can't recall, but you gain little from me telling you that. And I'm excluding reality TV from this as it isn't covered by this forum... and that leads me to this anime, that I've never actually seen. However I have seen a pretty interesting Youtube series that explains in 12-part detail, well, the title is The Asterisk War Sucks, so guess what it's about. I don't agree with everything the creator says, but on the subject of this show, and many like it, I absolutely do, as it's everything I don't want a show to be. It's not even this show in particular (there are quite a few others like it), it just represents my dislike for low-effort trash that looks awful, has boring and bland characters and settings, the plot is riddled with holes and the fact that it exists and people paid money to make this and actually thought others would be entertained by it just makes me feel bad. It represents the dark, bland side of anime, and that's much worse than being just a bad show.

Day 3: Your Favourite new show

Easy, Sex Education! Every character was great pretty much, they served a purpose and grew, Otis is just so adorable and Maeve is incredible. All of the stories were interesting from the way that the main characters developed to the funny little side stories with the sex therapy "business" and I didn't want the series to end, I binged it far too fast!

Day 4: Your Favourite TV Show
difficult, with reality TV included it would be Big Brother or Drag Race but if we don't include those, I'd be inclined to go for Simpsons, or at least the show it used to be before it bombed downhill It's one of those shows I can just watch again and again and you still always find something new and clever.

Day 5: A show you dislike

In lieu of saying BBT like everyone else (my lord is that show terrible, unfunny and borderline offensive), I'm gonna go for Riverdale. A lot of people who have similar taste to me love(d) it but I just found it awful, even before this suspension of reality that is making everyone go off it. It tries/tried to do things that so many other shows do but ended up being like 100x more dragged out and generally horrendously dull, I just couldn't get it.

I know you can technically call this reality, but still. It's makes me very sad that is still on air and gets attention and takes advantage of the most damaged, broken people that clearly need professional help by promising 'help' and getting them on TV, and then getting lambasted by the clearly not qualified host, laughed at by the jeering audience and essentially made to feel even worse, and probably covered up as 'the first step' or some bollocks. It's sickening, as it it's continued popularity. I don't understand how anyone can get any enjoyment out of this, the description given of 'human bear baiting' is very apt.

(Honourable mention to Mrs Browns Boys, but I actually haven't seen an episode of that, and my life is all the better for it!)

Shows like Big Bang Theory are definitely up there but Most Haunted is something where I genuinely cannot see the enjoyment in watching, there is nothing you can take away from it. Day 05. A show you dislike: The Vampire Diaries



Idk, I just find this extremely generic. Like it seems obvious that they were riding on the Twilight hype train only with an improved plot, werewolves being side characters, and the introduction of witchcraft. But most of these characters seem to take themselves too seriously. The only character that doesn't is Stefan (and Caroline on a good day). The Originals does this formula much better tbh. Same problems but the focus on the canon lore more than makes up for it.

It's an unfortunate thing to say but I was a fan at first but the same jokes and ridiculous inconsistencies made the show go from a 9 to a 3. It should've ended after 5 seasons tops. now they are just beating the same dead horse pretending it's still winning all the races

I don't even mind this too much a lot of the time, but the incident that happened last year between Coleen Nolan and Kim Woodburn proved just how vile this show could be. Simply cause it condones Coleen and her never-ending victim-playing narrative. I find people like Saira Khan, Stacey Solomon, etc very interesting and when I catch this show (rarely, when I'm free at work and it's on in the staff room), they can provide some interesting debates. Other times it's just attention seeking and anything involving Coleen is a major flush.

Okay I need to put the two episodes because of the particular storyline that made them so special for me personally. You'll know exactly what I'm referring to if you've seen it but just in case you need a little reminder, my absolute fave character Rosa Diaz comes out as bisexual in the 99th episode (aside from that the episode is also really really funny too, as most of them are but i loved the whole road trip/staying at charles' family's place situation etc) and then the 100th episode was just really heartwarming in how Rosa's coming out affects her relationships with the rest of the 99 and the part where she's telling her family just about killed me but it was just so well done and it's everything i've ever wanted to see on tv from a bi-rep perspective.

I found it a little hard with this, thinking... which show do I choose? I decided to go for one where my favourite episode was clearly and unassailably the best, and for Violet Evergarden, that's this one. It's a fairly middling show overall, but this episode was very very emotional. Entirely predictable, but in a way that made it even better, and even though the principal characters in this story don't matter at all outside of the episode, it's very beautifully told, and well directed in that you only see it from the perspective of a child for most of it.

Heaven Sent (Doctor Who)


This was my favourite episode of Doctor Who back when I watched all of the episodes of Series 9 around the time they came out. After watching all of the Nu Who episodes last year, I still stand by my opinion.
It's an unsettling, dark episode that shows the Doctor go through the death of a companion while attempting to escape a gloomy cathedral, and it delivers such a unique concept that shows that The Doctor isn't an entirely flawless character along with a great addition to the show's ensemble of terrifying villains in the form of The Veil.

Mrs Brown's Boys has to be one of the worst things on TV. It's a poor excuse for a sitcom and naturally the GP lap it up which makes it even worse. Programmes such as Loose Woman are a good shout - really dreadful scourge of TV type nonsense. ITV ought to be ashamed of putting out such a dreadful panel show 5 days of week...

Catching up..

Day 04. Your favourite show ever



Parks and Recreation. This is easily THE best TV Show to ever air. If you ignore the somehow not-so-funny season one, this show is one of the smartest, funniest and heartwarming television shows that I have ever seen. Every single character is so special and important to the story, the side characters are HILARIOUS (Joan <33) and pretty much every single episode is rewatchable. This is one of the few shows I can always rewatch and it still feels just as fresh to me as it did the first time I saw it.

Day 05. A show you dislike



Friends. Yes, I am the anti-christ and I dislike the one sitcom that has pretty much shaped up comedy television as it is today. I don't hate it, I just really really don't get what's so great about this show. Especially looking at it today it's so dated, filled with sexist and homophobic jokes that should just be left in the 90s, overhyped and worst of all it has a god damn laugh track which is something I just cannot stand. Additionally it features one of the worst characters ever to be shown on a TV Show: Ross Gellar. Ugh, I cannot describe how incredibly annoying this self-centered, sexist POS with a "nice guy syndrome" is but I just cannot stand him. I like the legacy this created and all, but I'd be fine with this show being laid finally to rest in 2019 lol.

Day 06. Favourite episode of a show



"Janet(s)" (S03E10 of "The Good Place"). This is one of THE most brilliant episodes I have seen in a long time but tbh The Good Place is chock full of super clever episodes, this one just stands out because of the amazing acting D'Arcy Carden provides as she plays not only her character but also her character portraying all of the other main characters. It's literally this most mind boggling thing you will ever see on a comedy show but it's so well done and actually works so much better than you would expect. D'Arcy deserves all of the awards for this performance.

Day 05: A show you dislike; How I Met Your Mother, for a comedy I've never seen something so unfunny! It's so overrated and I'm surprised it lasted so long / was so popular, I suppose people are stupid though

Day 06: 'Bang' from Desperate Housewives sticks out like a sore thumb, it had me SHOOK when I was younger. The acting, the tension, everything I needed.

I always shift between White Bear and White Christmas for my fave Black Mirror episode so probs cheatig a bit but I love White Bear so much. Even though it’s the fifth episode, I feel represent the quintessential Black Mirror episode and the template for ones that follow, and essentially where how the show was able to hit its stride and explode in popularity. It throws the viewer into this crazy world, thrown in the same time as the protagonist with a huge subvertion of expectations in the final act that is just pure brilliance.

I remember being at uni and talking about Black Mirror with my mates (this was between White Christmas and Series 3) and all they wanted to watch is the National Anthem becuase of the obvious so I put this on after to show how good the show actually is

In a show full of amazing episodes (Modern Warfare, Cooperative Calligraphy), this one stands out as the best written 20 minutes of TV I've ever seen. Community excelled at concept episodes and this was the smartest and most original. I love the way that you learn so much about each character's personality depending on the which timeline is taking place. Some great memes coming from this episode too: 'the darkest timeline' and that GIF of Donald Glover walking into the room that's on fire.

But with Community the first paintball episode and the one with the zombie virus are super close to the top and ones that come to mind immediately as well. If you don't laugh your tits off from those episodes, then obviously Seinfeld (sadly) isn't for you.

Day 06. Favourite episode of a show: Freak The Freak Out (Victorious 1x13)



It took a lot of thinking because a lot of my favorite shows had some REALLY good episodes and a lot of them stuck out, so I decided to go with a fave from the past. Everyone knows Ariana Grande as a megastar but before all that she was Cat Valentine on this show. Not the titular character but one of my favorites for her ditzy character. Then this episode happened and I saw stars. She and Liz have AMAZING voices and they work so well harmonized. The other running gag of that episode (Trina getting her wisdom teeth removed) didn't detract from the main plot at all and it was nice to see the guys serving as more comic relief rather than actually part of the plot.

moral of the story: I love Ariana with all my heart

Honorable mentions:
Unleashed (Teen Wolf 3x04) - the episode that made me stan Isaac
Chocolate With Nuts (Spongebob 3x12) - purely for its memetic potential. "CHOCOLATE" is honestly a mood
Up The Creek (Total Drama 1x07) - honestly so much happened for character development. Cody, Gwen and Trent made huge strides (even though the former ended up getting eliminated the next episode) and it set the stage for future episodes (Gwen & Cody's friendship in World Tour was one thing I looked for in particular).
Reality Pick: Return Of The Rotten Apples (Dance Moms 7x03) - we waited SO LONG for an episode without useless drama within the ALDC team and we got that and good dances. Even the Candy Apples were great.

Day 07. Least favourite episode of a show you love - Big Trouble in the Big Apple (Dance Moms 4x07)



Even for trashy reality TV, this was an episode that made me extremely uncomfortable. And I had to go through Arie breaking up with Becca on The Bachelor.

This show has had so many highs, but unfortunately where there are highs, there are lows. This season was Abby Lee Miller at her worst, and this episode along with the season finale were ones that I could barely go through because of how blatantly evil and self-righteous she acted. First of all, no student should be made to be afraid of their own teacher, which Chloe was. Secondly, a dance teacher with her repertoire should have faith in her own students because she trained them. Why she felt the need to enter another dance midway through the competition in an effort to guarantee a win is beyond me. That's sabotage. And lastly, the Kelly and Abby fight. That was decades of hatred, torture and turmoil all bubbling up in a candela and exploding in front of these girls' eyes. THEY'RE JUST KIDS. It was an episode that changed the show, and not for the better.

For the record, I love Kalani, I think she's an incredible dancer, but things should not have transpired the way they had, and I feel bad that she got caught in the crossfire. She and Brooke as a duo would have DESTROYED their competition.

in terms of scripted series - No One Eggspects The Spanish Opposition (Total Drama 5x06)



Gwen and Cameron were a great duo and their friendship is among my favorites regarding her. However, the elimination ceremony was a little forced and it once again proved how OP some of the characters were (Alejandro in particular). What really turned me off though was how they handled Mike's personalities. It made it seem like harming yourself to protect yourself from some innate evil entity was beneficial, when really it trivialized a lot of issues with mental health. It was the same thing in the season finale (how he "got rid" of his personalities), only it just made Mike too OP. But that scene alone granted this episode a spot here.

I've chosen Homeland's Season 4 finale which is probably widely praised and therefore shows I maybe like my shows to be flashy rather than understated... I remember feeling that the season started off a bit slow as it was adapting to a post-Brody series but it soon kicked up a gear and brought some incredible episodes (omg Episode 9 is among my favourites ever) and was hurtling towards an epic finale. The end of Episode 11 saw that Dal was one of the bad guys, a brilliant cliffhanger, and then we got.... some family time and the Dal thing is completely ignored for I'm sure the next two seasons.

Day 07. Least favourite episode of a show you love



"The Lost Sister" (S02E07, Stranger Things). If you have ever binge watched Stranger Things, especially the second season you will probably agree that there was one episode that was just very off. That was this episode. It was so strange because not only did it have literally zero impact on the show and took you away from a VERY exciting main plot, but it also just featured some of the most unlikeable side characters ever. The episode felt like something someone who never experienced the 80s imagined them to be like and all the characters were super cliché and annoying. While both season 1 and 2 are almost only filled with 9s or 10s, this episode felt even below 5. I hated it so much and I wished I had just skipped it because it ruined a perfect season but thankfully most of the fandom agreed to just pretend it never did happen. Lets just hope they leave this one in the recycling bin for season 3 and don't bring back these super irrelevant and uninteresting characters (other than Eleven obviously).

The two above were genuinely my two choices, I can't think of many more but I guess a hell of a lot of Simpsons episodes from this decade count It's worse bc everyone raves over the underwater episode of Bojack but I just didn't get into it, I understand they always tackle something different in a unique way but it felt like it could have been one gag for a couple of minutes but they somehow stretched it into a whole episode which just dragged for me.

^Good call with Stranger Things, that was such a weird and pointless episode. Often in arc-based series I have trouble thinking individual episodes are bad because the worst are normally just ones that don't move the plot along a lot and therefore blend in but that stood out as being quite awful.

It's such a long series, DS9, and I do enjoy nearly every episode. But there's these two, and I can't really choose which is worse. In Meridian's corner, it's a bland, unrealistic story about a planet that only shifts into our universe once every however many decades. It's filled with hatefully boring guest actors, a will-this-main-character-leave-her-friends-for-days-old-love-oh-of-course-she-won't tripe plot and commits the ultimate sin of being SO bland that I'm insulted it ever got to print. For Profit And Lace, we have the Ferengi male misogynist main character Quark, the aliens who are literal money-grubbing trolls, get given a sex change by the magic of future science all so he can bribe a CEO politician to vote to usher in a new wave of feminism (thereby giving women no agency in thsi radical movement), as the race is horrifically sexist. And then the story gets treated like a farce instead, with no followup for either the Ferengi society or the character himself on his experience of being a woman (it's temporary of course). Just a carcrash of ideas gone wrong.

Also omg I was so chilled and had such a great smile on my face for the entirety of Bojack's underwater episode! It was so relaxing. Almost one of my favourite episodes of that. I guess it's a bit like 'The Fly' from Breaking Bad which also gets some people riled up because it's lacking in something that people normally tune into the show for. But in both of those cases, I see it as a really cool break from the norm, allowing me to focus on things that I don't normally look at in the episodes. Like I noticed the side details in the underwater city far more than I do those side details when Bojack's on land.

Bojack reminds me a lot of Community in how they often try new gag formats for episodes and usually succeed, but then every so often it's just a huge misfire and you just can't watch it G.I. Jeff SUCKED and it literally the worst episode from Community

Day 07. Least favourite episode of a show you love: The Haunting of Hill House E10 - Silence Lay Steadily

**(Spoilers may follow so scroll past if you're still watching)**


I loved this series so I hate to use it for a negative category, but of recent cases, it really was a case of a single episode dragging down a whole series Just for it to the build the house up to be this terrifying, dangerous entity, especially after what it did to Nell, and it for then to romanticise it and make it seem like we've had the wrong impression for the whole series which wasn't what I wanted. The only thing I liked was the reveal of the red room, that was well done, other than that, it really was dull. I can understand that they didn't take the brainless action route and instead a more nuanced, emotional one to respect the core theme of family, but still, there should really have been more of a threat present.

Day 7: Least favourite episode of a show you love.


The Ex (The Amazing World Of Gumball)


I was going to put The Boombox on there, mainly due to Gumball and Darwin bickering and it being dragged for half of the episode, but after rewatching it, the bickering parts didn't drag it down as much as it did when I saw it during my Gumball binge in 2017 and I did find a couple of funny moments on there like the Miss Simian's Retiring scene.
I would have also gone with a more recent episode The Cringe, due to most of the cringe comedy falling flat for me rather than being an amusing guilty pleasure like with the last two Hot Dog Guy episodes from Season 4 (i.e. The Hug and The Awkwardness), but I eventually decided to settle with The Ex.
This continues the Gumball and Rob arc from the marvellous overlapping S4 closer/S5 opener The Disaster/The Rerun, in which Rob was the main antagonist of (reminds me of the good old days when Rob was Dr. Wrecker and had a fiendish British accent provided by David Warner). In The Ex, Rob sends a message to Gumball saying that Banana Joe is his new nemesis and that he doesn't hate Gumball anymore. This would have given the potential for a good progression for the show to see Gumball and Rob move on from their old ways, but instead Gumball acts sad about it to the point where it gets kind of annoying. That is until he decides to team up with Rob on his plans to destroy Banana Joe upon a suggestion made by Penny (albeit he made it up in his head while ignoring her). It was going to be amusing to see both of them work on evil schemes involving booby traps, but the plan was thwarted because Gumball tried to take a picture of Joe walking into that trap using the flash. Rob then reaches his breaking point where he is mad at Gumball and is back to hating him while shaking Gumball back and forth (and Gumball is making an honest-to-god smile, which kind of made me chuckle, while a song parodying Whitney Houston's 1992 hit I Will Always Love You is playing in the background).
If there were some positives about this episode, it had to be the callbacks to the Rob episodes in Season 4 in beginning of the episode. Plus Penny was a decent character in this and I could understand why she didn't want Gumball to obsess over Rob. Gumball getting a form from Banana Joe saying that he was breaching intellectual property rights by doing a banana dance and the yellow guy who wanted to cut Gumball's brakes on his bike both gave me a laugh, and the I Will Always Love You reference was okay.
Overall, despite some ample gags, The Ex was a weak way to revert back to the status quo of the Rob and Gumball arc, and ends up being a sub-par episode. Rob does get his shining moments later on in Season 6's The Spinoffs in which we have a clipshow episode... without Gumball

The 100 : Thirteen (Season 03 Episode 07)

How could i not bring up this f***ing episode, it ruined me and i'm pretty sure i will be mentioning this again at some point in this challenge. I loved The 100 and it was in its prime in season 2 and into season 3 right up until this episode and then it just plummeted. It wasn't just a case of them killing off one of my favourite characters ever, it was the way they did it and i know it's just a show and this will seem dramatic but it put me off ever watching it again. Well, I finished season 3 but I've literally not watched an episode since and have no desire to whilst it's still being written/produced by the same folk that made the decisions in episode 03x07. Anyone who remembers my reaction to this will know exactly what i'm talking about

It's Always Sunny has managed to remain great since its inception but the 2nd half of the latest season (13) for the first time has had some poor episodes. This and the 2nd part (The Gang Wins The Big Game) are by far the poorest episodes the show has ever produced. This episode just doesn't feel like a Sunny episode. It's an odd ultra-violent parody of Home Alone with absolutely no laughs. The 2nd episode feels much more like a Sunny episode but the problem with that one is that it's just not funny. Such a shame coming after some classics coming earlier in the season.

I agree with the Stranger Things episode mentioned but I don't agree with the Bojack choice, it's ok but it does remind me of a Spongebob episode which I thought done the concept better.

Massive shout out to Crocodile (Black Mirror S4E3) as that is my least favourite episode of TV I've ever seen. I only didn't pick it as I prefer Sunny as a whole and I watched it more recently.

Catching up~

Day 1: A show that should have never been cancelled: Faking It

Day 5: A show you dislike: The Big Bang Theory

This was more difficult than I thought it'd be. There's very few TV shows I've watched that I've found myself disliking, but The Big Bang Theory sticks out like a sore thumb. I haven't seen all of it either (episodes here and there when my friends have had it on), but what I have seen is just... not funny in the slightest. Most of the cast seem pretty unbearable too which definitely wouldn't make a case for me giving it a proper go any time soon.

Day 6: Favourite episode of a TV show: Waterloo Road, S3 Episode 20 [the fire]

Very difficult to choose for this one too, so there's a few honourable mentions below too. This is definitely an episode of television that will forever stick with me for so many reasons. Back before the move to Scotland etc, Waterloo Road was one of my favourite shows ever. Eva Pope as headteacher Rachel was absolutely fantastic and there was always so much drama in the storytelling - the best of that being this episode. With the school going on fire, Rachel being exposed as an ex-prostitute in front of the whole school, Chlo being trapped in the toilets during the fire, Donte running to save her after a series of bitterness towards each other, Davina unconscious at the end of the episode (I cried) and of course Rachel being trapped under all the rubble at the very end (I cried again, 1000x more). I was an emotional mess at this episode, and it was British drama/television at its best.

Honourable mentions:
Grey's Anatomy, S8 Episode 24 'Flight' - I'm probably forgetting some incredible episodes, but this is definitely a good shout for, probably, the best episode of Grey's. There are so many emotional moments throughout this episode where it just hits you right in the gut, and THAT moment between Mark and Lexie brings me to tears every time.
Waterloo Road, S4 Episode 1 [gun in the school] - this one was almost as dramatic as the fire! I remember being so excited that it was an hour and a half long too, and that Rachel was back, more drama, etc. It was a pretty great, and intense, 60 minutes of TV!
Desperate Housewives, S6 Episode 10 'Boom Crunch' - seemed like a happy, jolly Christmas-themed episode on the surface, and next thing you know there's a plane crashing through the lane! I was in complete shock when this happened, and there were so many emotional moments throughout the episode! The scenes with Lynette and Gabi in the aftermath too were incredible.

Day 7: Least favourite episode of a show you love: Black Mirror, S4 Episode 2 'Arkangel'

Another difficult one. Was close to just putting one of Dinosaurs on a Spaceship / Love & Monsters / Fear Her from Doctor Who, but then this popped into my head! I don't particularly *hate* this episode, but I feel like it was such a brilliant and fascinating concept that could have made for a classic Black Mirror episode and it all just kinda fell flat on its face. I was bored for some of it, confused for some more of it, intrigued throughout a couple of scenes, but just... not really feeling anything by the time it finished.

YES! I watched Desperate Housewives completely out of order, missed out seasons 2 and 3, but was floored when I got to this. Probably one of the only times I actually found myself loving and rooting for Lynette though.

Day 07: Episode you hate from a show you love;

This is so hard, Reality TV is probably easier as there have been episodes I've really hated of Drag Race and Bad Girls Club where it made me give up on their seasons. I'd say the last ever episode of Gossip Girl was ridiculously underwhelming and I pretend the last season in general didn't happen. Dan being Gossip Girl, REALLY?!

If we are to say series then second season of 13 Reasons Why has to be up there. I was completely and utterly obsessed with the first series but the second felt like a monotonous chore and lost all of it's power.

The Good Place: Michael's Gambit (Season 01 Finale)

Where The Good Place is actually The Bad Place like honestly I didn't see that one coming at all! It's so clever, I think because I'd found the tone of the show to be quite light hearted and comical, I wasn't expecting there to be that sort of deep backdrop to it but it's probably my favourite twist in anything I've watched tbh, at least I can't think of anything else that quite compares. Orphan Black has loads of good twists but I feel like they're more expected because of the type of series it is whereas this one is so stand out to me.

Game of Thrones has certainly shocked me the most but I’ve gone for something where the twist is a bit more eerie than a death. After a disappointing end to an excellent start for the first series, I liked that the writers were starting Series 2 with a similar premise but a completely different start with the missing child actually being found all these years later. You then get a brilliantly eerie moment as hints are thrown and you realise the child is actually not the real one and is posing to her. It opens up so much mystery and plot and as I said, it’s so eerie!!

I'd say that for the obvious Game Of Thrones is great on the twists, but when I think of the best, the most pure twists, they are ones that shake up my perspective on the show completely. It was always clear that Game Of Thrones was going to be brutal, we just didn't know how that brutality would reveal itself. Shocking, but perhaps less satisfying than the one I'm going to choose.

Day 6: Favourite episode of a show: A Loved One Will Always Watch Over You - Violet Evergarden
Day 7: Least favourite episode of a show you love: Meridian & Profit and Lace - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Day 8: Favourite twist: Higurashi - When They Cry - Season 1 to Season 2

This show is layered with twists upon twists (and I shan't mention them all here, just the central one), not too much to be crazy, but enough that it is certainly not a normal show and that its presentation at the start is nothing like the ending, particularly the way the show changes as one season hands over to the other. Nice little 80s village with a dark secret to start with but then very quickly half of the main characters die and the world resets without explanation. For a while. It keeps doing this, repeating the events from different perspectives, with completely different plots making it seem like they're unrelated and we're just playing the same situation out following different storytelling alleways, and just new ways to experience the story. For the second season, the twist is that one of the characters is experiencing the same June 1983 over and over and everything we've seen so far all actually happened, in different loops of the same events, and now in order to break it, she must find a loop where she does not die, and preferably no one else dies either. When I found that out, I was both incredibly shocked and also very pleased at how neatly it had, without me predicting what it was, how it fitted into all of my theorizing about the events in the first season, bringing what seemed random together, and making me very excited to complete the second season and finish the story.

Nell being the Bent-Necked Lady all along in The Haunting Of Hill House episode The Bent-Neck Lady.

This twist was fantastically constructed with Nell seeing this creepy figure, which then turns out to be her at the moment of her death. It was something I really did not expect.

You really look at an earlier scene differently when you know the twist too.

8. Your favourite twist: Teen Wolf 3x24 - The Last Shot



When I first saw the trailers for Teen Wolf 3B, it kept teasing a couple things. First was Allison's death, which 95% of the fandom guessed within the first episode alone. Next was the Nogitsune, which was another easy guess. The third, which came a little bit after a few episode aired, was Derek getting shot. It did freak some people out because of the confirmations that there will be more than one death in this part of the season, which they were right about, but it wasn't who we thought it was.

Pay attention to the gunshot wound's position in this gif. Seems fatal, right? But wouldn't he have taken a much shorter time for him to die if it was as fatal as it was? That's why I was convinced that he wouldn't die that season. The real kicker was Kate returning (I'm just putting it in spoiler tags so y'all would watch the show to get it) because you'd think that people stayed dead when you first watch the season, and Peter returning was more of Lydia's doing because she was a banshee. However, in season 1, Kate asks Chris if you could get turned by a werewolf scratch, by which Chris responds with "If the cut is deep enough". Her turning into a were-jaugar at the end of the scene sold this as the best twist.

Honorable Mentions:
Melissa & Chris getting together - Teen Wolf 6x10 (this one felt like such a blindside)
Liam goes wolf in public - Teen Wolf 6x13 (this one would have been the one I'd talk about because the first couple episodes had been teasing this and the fandom had been fearing for this for the entire season, but it was kinda hampered by the fact that the show killed off their one bisexual character after giving him 10 minutes of screen time the previous season)

But srsly this stuck with me for months, after feeling for the utterly hopeless character throughout the episode so much and for it to be then revealed that SHE is the one that actually did the most heinous act and then her breaking down after knowing this and still getting attacked leaves you seriously questioning your beliefs - who are you sympathising with? Does this pitchfork mod mentality have consequences? When that would look impossible earlier in the episode, stunning stuff, in fact, the essay I wrote about this got me onto my Masters course!

I actually think mine is the first series of American Horror Story with Violet realising she was dead, I really didn't see it coming at all but looking back it's so obvious. It was so well thought out and shows Ryan Murphy can make good TV when he doesn't try to be too trashy!

The fight between the Daleks and the Cybermen in Part 2 of Army Of Ghosts/Doomsday (Doctor Who [Nu Who Series 2])



One of Doctor Who's most tense moments. Loved seeing two of the most threatening monsters in Doctor Who get put in the same room and them raging war against each other. It especially gets better when the Daleks levitate the Genesis Arc into the sky to free the millions of Daleks imprisoned in there.

White Bear and The Good Place are both great shouts! Wasn't expecting either of those and they were both done brilliantly too. My personal favourite has to be from Grey's though. Watching the season 5 finale thinking 'okay this is pretty tame', then realising that the disfigured patient that had been run over by a bus pushing someone out of the way was actually George O'Malley... shook. Such an emotional moment when Meredith finally realises as he's trying to tell her. Often go back to the scene itself and just watch it over and over.

Shoutout to Season 1 of How to Get Away With Murder too; wasn't expecting Frank to be Lila's killer at all and it was all very well revealed.

Day 9: Your favourite TV moment/scene: Stefan kills Enzo / Bonnie turns Stefan human (The Vampire Diaries, S8 Episode 11)

This was such a heartbreaking moment. Bonnie and Enzo were one of the best TV couples I've seen, and they just had to take their happy ending away from them. The whole scene is so powerful from start to finish - not expecting anything to happen to Enzo, Stefan storming in ready to kill Bonnie too, her using the cure on him to turn him human, and then finally letting out her scream that would break the curse when she holds Enzo in her arms.

Really hard to choose, I considered a certain scene from Psycho Pass that is the main thing that I think about when I think of that show, I consider the opening 5 minutes to Attack On Titan one of the best opens an anime has ever gotten, there's countless from Game Of Thrones. But for sheer intrigue rather than shock factor, for storytelling possibilities, the opening of Lost is etched into my brain even though I never finished the show. It starts off a fantastic first season and sets it all up as well. Great stuff.

Day 10: A show you didn't think you would like but ended up loving - Brooklyn 99
I was quite over American comedies, or so I thought. Really been fabulous watching this last year. I guess Bojack Horseman also definitely falls into this category, and for my anime love I think the show that best fits would be My Hero Academia, I thought it'd be very boring at first, but it turned out to be anything but.

CATCH UP!

Day 7 - Not the worst episode of all time, just one I thought was not up to the standard of that series at all! To me, it felt a bit forced and definitely felt uneeded.

Day 8 - This whole scene completely took me by surprise. It also doesn't help that it was the moment my favourite character died (Robb ofc). I just didn't see it coming and fortunately for me I'd gone so long without knowing what would happen.

Day 9 - Cal & Chloe's death is single handedly the most beautifully tragic death of all time! Just the emotion, the song that was used, the editing everything was stunningly done! The way she says "You can't have me" and just commits suicide instead... I AM ALWAYS A MESS.



Day 10 - It genuinely took me 3 tries to get into Breaking Bad. I found it boring and couldn't understand the hype. Then as the last season started airing, literally every one of my friends were watching so I forced myself to catch up and boy was I glad I did! It wasn't until S02 E06 "Peekaboo" where I "got" the hype. It was a slow burner, but with how the series ends, the whole build to it makes perfect sense and it feels like a complete series.

I got bought the first season boxset whilst the third season was airing so there was some hype but not the amount it ended up resulting in. I didn’t really think it was for me as I’m not really a fantasy type of guy - I’ll watch Lord of the Rings if someone puts it on but I don’t get excited by it. But I gave it a chance (well I guess I had to show appreciation x) and I was so confused by who was who and had to keep referring to a family tree guide. However, by around episode 5/6 I was stsrting to get into it and then of course that moment happens and I began loving it. I’ve read the first two books but they’re not really for me. 9. Your favourite TV moment/scene: Teen Wolf 5x06 - Theo's Gym Scene



I struggled with this because I didn't know whether I wanted to pick a scene where I cried my eyes out or a scene where I laughed so hard I was crying my eyes out. Instead... I went for this. It was a combination of the sexual tension and literally everything Theo did that made me go back to this scene the most.

Day 10. A show you didn't think you would like, but ended up loving: Chicago Med



I was exposed to this through Chicago Fire but I kinda steered away from this because it was a medical drama and coming from parents who are in the medical field, listening to them talk was already like a medical drama. Then I gave Season 3 a try and pretty soon I was hooked. It felt like every episode, I was at the edge of my seat, and it really served its purpose as part of an ongoing package.

Day 10. A show you didn't think you would like but ended up loving: The Good Place

I was intrigued by the concept but I'm just not particularly into American sitcoms that much and I wouldn't count a Kristen Bell fronted one as top of my to watch list, but it was pretty instantly addictive with the cliffhanger at the end of each episode and short length and then ofc. came that excellent twist and I was pretty much totally hooked, and it did pretty well to keep up that quality even if the current season has slowed down a bit I still haven't finished it oops, must do that

A podcast with then unkown Karl Pilkington with the only difference that it was animated didn't really sound that interesting to be fair but in the end Karl was obviously hilarious and the animation was wonderful and really added to the stories.

Day 10: A show you didn't think you would like but ended up loving

Unikitty


I stumbled upon some promo art of this back in 2017, but it didn't catch my eye as I thought it looked too similar to Teen Titans Go and I thought it would try to copy its style of humour. Then came a sneak peek clip of its first episode a couple of months later that popped up in my YouTube recommended feed, and after viewing it, I was curious to see what it had to offer, so I watched the first two episodes and I enjoyed both of them (especially the first episode known as Spooky Game, which takes the Jumanji plot with the characters trapped in a game and adds a Halloween feel to it), then I watched a couple more episodes and I can now say that this is a swell show.
Its cast of characters are very colourful. Unikitty is still her cute, adorable self that she was in The LEGO Movie, Puppycorn is her brother who has some of the lovable traits that Unikitty has, Hawkodile is the awesome, badass character who has the potential to provide an interesting backstory (we did get a bit of that in Action Forest), Rick The Brick is the monotone character who makes up for some really amusing moments, Dr. Fox is the nerdy scientist character, Master Frown and Brock are the generic, respective "I hate happiness" villain and the villain's inept sidekick archetypes, but despite that, they both manage to be enjoyable characters. If I had to choose three favourites, they would have to be Unikitty, Rick and Hawkodile.
I also ended up really liking the over-the-top style of humour that I previously mentioned (Wander Over Yonder and The Amazing World Of Gumball are two other examples of animated shows that do OTP humour excellently); I think it works well for the most part.

Day 10. A show you didn't think you would like but ended up loving RuPauls Drag Race

I don't quite remember why but it took some convincing for me to even start this and the only reason I did was because I could start at season 6 knowing I'd love Adore Delano because I was already a fan of her music, I didn't even know she was a drag queen when I first stumbled across her on Spotify but yea I think my initial perception was that it was just like a fashion based thing, like America's next top model but with drag queens, I didn't realise the diversity of it and the sort of challenges that come up or the amount of drama that could come out of it. Safe to say I love this show now and I don't know why it took me so long to get on board

Day 11. A show that disappointed you Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

It's not that this is bad, its not particularly good either its very much in the "it was fine" category for me. I was just expecting more. I think the darker tone to the series is perfect but by god the acting is dire and the plot lines kinda stale and forgettable. I can't even remember everything that happened if I'm honest. it just didn't leave much impression on me at all other than it being half decent to kill time at an airport with but considering its a remake, it had a lot of hype around it and was a Netflix thing, it should have been a lot better than it was.

I remember seeing either some of an episode or clips of this and thinking 'nahhh', but then after seeing it being talked about loads on here, I decided to start from the beginning and make my way through it. Best decision ever. It's absolutely incredible, hilarious and has become one of my favourite comedies (or shows). I don't normally like American comedies either because the humour just isn't that great, but this is on point.

Day 11: A show that disappointed you: American Horror Story

I couldn't really think of an example where a show has disappointed me or been underwhelming from start to finish, but American Horror Story sticks out like a sore thumb as one that can have amazing episodes/seasons, then fall flat on its face immediately after. Most of this comes from having such brilliant, intriguing and entertaining set-ups for stories, only for it all to fall apart in the second half or the final couple of episodes. Then there's whole seasons where the whole thing just doesn't work as well as it could and I find myself so bored and disinterested.

I mean I did really like some aspects of it so it feels harsh putting it here, but ultimately it was disappointing. It trivialised the vast concepts and mental health ideas it had to a disappointingly simple resolution and I was struggling to define what all of it meant at the end, and I'm not sure the show knew either which is what makes it worse. The trippy dream sequences midway through were very enjoyable but that disappointing conclusion just left a bad taste alas

Was hyped to watch this as I love zombie stuff and of course it was HUGE in the US and also very popular over here. However, it never really got to the point where I was really hooked and not largely watching it for the sake of it. Don’t get me wrong, there is some excellent momens but for the most part it just meanders on from episode to episode with no real endgame or purpose in sight. Also, Rick is one of my least favourite characters ever. AND I really don’t like the grainy image of the series.

I’ve now seen up to the end of Season 7 and I’ve heard really bad things about Season 8 and the fact they’re now creating loads of spin-off shows means it is likely the end for me.

That's certainly going to be an unpopular choice but after the near universal love and praise this show gets I was expecting something amazing. Don't get me wrong, I do like it and the sitcom is my favourite genre but I just don't find this as brilliant and original as everyone else seems to do.

Day 11. A show that disappointed you: Z Nation



It was one of those shows that my dad hyped me on because it was marketed as The Walking Dead if it didn't take itself too seriously. And the first 4 or so episodes were promising. Of course it was going to be episodic, I expect that from shows nowadays and there's gotta be a way to insert certain plot points even if it meant dishing out 43 minutes of filler. However, once they brought in aliens in the mix for one episode, I just about had it. There's not taking itself seriously, and then there's just taking the piss.

I am honestly SO GLAD it got cancelled, I don't think it could have kept up with the other satirical horror shows out there, if there are any.

Day 12. An episode you've watched multiple times: Currents (Teen Wolf 3x07)



"You're SOMETHING!"

When I think of a memorable episode, my mind either goes to how memorable certain scenes are or how important the episode was to the ensemble's evolution and character development, and this episode fits firmly into the latter. Despite a character death, the show goes to great lengths with highlighting Scott's journey into being a true alpha, why Lydia is finding dead bodies, or anything dealing with Stiles. There's all that and the episode doesn't lose track of the season's plot. This episode ultimately contributed to Teen Wolf's golden age for those reasons.

Day 14. Favourite male character: Cody Anderson (Total Drama series)



inb4 "wow another Cody what a shocker" I KNOW I KNOW. But no one realizes how much of an impact he's made in terms of the Total Drama fandom. He was probably the most liked character in the entire series, even today when a character like him would have been considered "not PC enough". It was a risk to have a character who was this flirty (so much that it felt borderline chauvinistic despite him not going to those heights) but he ended up being so personable and his growth in World Tour was unparalleled and only matched by Heather of that same season.

I later came to the conclusion of why he was so loved. He represented the anonymous, the classic archetype of the best guy friend who was a geek and didn't seem to get the girl until the end of the movie/series/etc. There is going to be someone like him in any era, in any generation, in any time period. The Codys of today would probably be into Fortnite and wanted to be that sixth member of Why Don't We even if they don't confess it in public. The Codys of when I joined the fandom would be the ones who wanted to be discovered on YouTube, loved Pokemon and anime, and were unnecessarily cringy edgelords. They followed trends and embraced being mainstream, but at the same time were unique in some shape or form.

He may have lost his season, but he won our hearts.

Day 12: An episode you've watched multiple times: Kicking Bishop Brennan Up The Arse (Father Ted)



One of my favourites of the show. Loaded with funny moments, especially towards the end where a really angered Brennan goes back to Craggy Island to come for Ted and the large painting of the infamous moment being seen at the end. Other episodes of the show I have watched multiple times include Grant Unto Him Eternal Rest, Think Fast Father Ted, The Plague and New Jack City.






Day 13: Your favourite children's show: Trapped!


Not including animation on this, because I'm saving this for the animated show category.
Trapped! was one of my favourite gameshows as a kid, along with 50/50, The Weakest Link and Total Wipeout.
There is a sense of spookiness in nearly every challenge, and it is presented brilliantly with Wiley Sneak showing how the game works backed up by Simon Greenall's spine-chilling narration as The Caretaker. The Voice (who sounds more assertive after Series 1) shows a mysterious presence while guiding the person sabotaging the challenge, leading to the fiendish scheme involving everyone potentially voting out the wrong person.



Day 14: Your favourite male character: Homer Simpson (The Simpsons)


Homer was one of the first sitcom dumb fathers, and would hold so many memorable moments of the show to this day thanks to his antics and Dan Castelleneta's excellent voice performance. The misadventures he goes on (most of my favourites being in the 1990's seasons) turn out to be hilarious for the most part, such as in Viva Ned Flanders, when he and Ned go to Las Vegas and they end up marrying two women while drunk, and in the subplot to Lisa's Date With Density, when Homer pulls a telemarketing scam under the name Happy Dude, which later ends up driving Ned Flanders and his wife Maude crazy while they're trying to sleep.

Day 13. Favourite children's show.

Has to be Pokemon for me, especially the 1st and 3rd gen animes. I watched them constantly as a kid, alongside my obsession with the games, and I can still go back to them now and have some favourite episodes that really stick out to me and I could watch again and again.

Day 14: Favourite male character.

I'd go for Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99. He has everything I love in a character, he's silly and fun but you watch him grow and he's the character who has a relationship I love with every other character in the show, from his father figure Holt to his childhood friend Gina to his soulmate Amy, you see a different side of him when he interacts with each one. He's just adorable and lovable and perfect friend/bf/husband material, one of those characters you so wish was someone in your real life.

I had too many high expectations for Steins;Gate 0 after Steins;Gate and ultimately because it couldn't compare at all to the brilliant original series it disappointed me a lot, there was too little going on, a too confusing backstory that made too many shortcuts to get to where it needed to go.

Day 12: An episode you've watched multiple times - I watch shows in order The Inner Light - Star Trek: The Next Generation
Okay, that's a copout but I can't think of an episode I've watched more than twice, more than the others around it. Okay, one good one perhaps is The Inner Light - Star Trek: The Next Generation, among the best of the best that Trek, The Next Generation, and SIR PATRICK STEWART has to offer. Captain Picard is knocked unconscious for minutes by an alien probe, which makes him experience forty years of life on a planet. It's so very well done and impossible not to feel emotional at the end. I've seen it 3 times at a guess and each time it blows me away with how good it is, even more than I was expecting it.

Day 13: Favourite children's show - My Little Pony - Friendship Is Magic

I think in terms of 'would probably still put on an episode now', it probably actually is Pokémon, but this holds some memories and good influences for sure, back when THE EVENT happened. It was the first show I can remember watching with a strong and diverse cast of majority female characters, and I've watched and enjoyed a good many of those since then, I partially attribute enjoying it to realising that perceived masculinity/femininity has absolutely no bearing on whether you'll enjoy a show or not. It was very positive at a time in my life when I did need the positive vibes, and it was very well-written for what it was, at least the seasons that were out when I was still watching it. And most importantly I moved beyond it when it had done what it needed to for me and made my TV show related identity something much weirder. Also Rarity is still best girl.

Day 14: Favourite male character. - Light Yagami (Death Note)

God, so many choices, Holt from B99, Sisko and Bashir from DS9, Tyrion from GOT, Walter and Jesse from Breaking Bad, Walter from Fringe, to say nothing of the amazing best boys from across anime, Kyon (Haruhi), Todoroki (MHA), Nagisa/Koro-Sensei (AssClass), Kiritsugu (Fate/Zero), shit I get attached to characters. And I think my choice is sort of controversial, but god, Light is so impressive. I'm very into 'intelligent utter bast*rds' as a character archetype and given you get to go directly inside Light's head throughout Death Note, get to witness him pull out incredible deflection after incredible deflection as he eludes capture while dealing death... he makes Death Note into the excellent show that it is. Even though he's the villain and a horrific person, I am, while watching the show, just so completely entertained by him geniusing himself and his ego into and out of plot scrapes, it's wonderful.

Tbh I really don’t know who my favourite male character is, I’m been racking my brain really hard but I’ve put down someone who i initially loved to hate but he really comes more fleshed as the series goes on. He is there for a lot of the comedy but we really get an insight into his vulnerabilities and how this feeds into and causes all of his behaviours. Moments like where he is genuinely hurt by other people’s behaviours despite all his bravado and the behaviour he shows towards others is really special and also seeing his never ending loyalty to the firm <3

Though Rose was my first companion, it was Martha who well and truly captured my attention in Doctor Who. Well, not so obviously. I just love the sort of character who would do anything to excel and in a positive way and Leslie very much fulfils those qualities and is very entertaining besides, nearly all of my good memories of P&R involve her (or Ron, who could have easily been chosen for best guy). Day 15: Favourite female character - Maeve (Westworld)

Had to have a think about this, I like plenty of female characters in shows I've watched over the years, but none that stand out as a favourite. Maeve is definitely the most rounded I've seen recently, in that she's completely kick-ass and rootable as a ringleader for the cyborgs (without letting it go to her head like Dolores) but she fights for what's right and has a deep heart and really develops as she goes on her path, as well as being clearly flawed and acknowledging that which is a sign of a rounded hero (Honourable mentions to Daenerys + Arya from GoT, Janet from The Good Place, Rose from Doctor Who & all of The Powerpuff Girls )

Day 15: Favourite female character.



A really tough one as I could have loads just from shows over the past few years (for example Gina from Brooklyn 99, Nicky from Orange Is The New Black, Janet from The Good Place), but I'm gonna go for a bit of a wildcard choice in Marge Simpson. I just find her hilarious, usually unwittingly, and she has so many quotes and I think even watching it today she's the one who holds up really well as a character and always stays true to herself compared to how some of the others have changed or worn a bit thin.

She's so loyal and committed to not only her work but importantly her colleagues yet she can never catch a break. Her whole arc is horribly tragic, from the events that led to her working for Torchwood, to starting relationships with people only for something to go wrong (whether that's supplying her with horrible alien tech, sacrificing themselves to heal the rift or just being shot). She's so resilient, incredibly smart and deserved so much more <3

Day 16: A show that is a guilty pleasure: Coach Trip

Cheating because it is technically reality but I've essentially watched this religiously for way too many years (aside from one recent series!!) despite it having the most basic of formats of random activity, break, random activity, vote. I should hate it but I'm obsessed.

Day 16: A show that is a guilty pleasure - The Apprentice

I get that it's thing is business and may be seen as more 'credible' than other reality shows, but it's so transparent these days, the contestants all absolutely dim-witted and clearly lacking appropriate qualifications except that they'll make good television and tasks just designed for stupid moments as well as firings seeming more and more fixed and increasingly a winner that isn't truly the best across all the tasks. In truth, the last series was pretty bad overall, but there's something that keeps me coming back, It just really is quite amusing seeing a bunch of arrogant toffs make fools of themselves!

I just love how passionate of an agent this feline is. She is very eager to support her clients (Bojack being one of them) and goes through so much for them.




Day 16: A show that is a guilty pleasure: Bad Robots



I don't know why I like this, but I find the idea of people getting pranked and screwed around by technology weirdly amusing. From a rigged pub quiz to a parcel service that ends up destroying the contents in the parcel by compressing it. I also like the intro to each episode, showing an evil wind-up robot called Tez One (voiced by Michael Gambon) plotting revenge on Britain with the Tezcorp products due to the tech devices being mistreated.



Day 17: Your favourite title sequence: True Detective



One of the most spectacularly stunning visual intros to a TV show I've seen. The use of The Handsome Family's 2003 song "Far From Any Road" fits the dark atmosphere very well with its gloomy sounding A minor guitar and the spine-chilling Americana vocal styles from Brett and Rennie Sparks.




Day 18: Favourite theme tune: Doctor Who


Ah! It was so tough trying to decide my favourite theme tune. There's been a lot of them (Friends, Big Brother, Father Ted, Knight Rider, Twin Peaks and Mad Men to name a few). Eventually, I settled for Doctor Who.
Back in the 1960's, electronic music was prominently heard in sci-fi TV theme tunes such as Captain Scarlet, Joe 90 and of course, this show. Whether it's an early electronic piece by Delia Derbyshire or an orchestral reindition arranged by Murray Gold, Doctor Who's theme tune will get you ready for The Doctor's weird, zany adventures in the TARDIS, which involve travelling to different places in history and fighting off many threats such as the Cybermen, the Daleks and the Sontarans.

Two that have been said already but they are both iconic. The Simpsons title sequence is one that is ALWAYS worth watching, even though we've all seen it so many times over. Genius!

Doctor Who's theme is forever iconic and it simply couldn't be anything else!

Day 19: A show with the best cast Parks and Recreation

Everyone is absolutely brilliant and brings so much life to their characters - they all really make the show. I could have easily gone with The Office US, Lost, Torchwood - shows where the cast is a really strong highlight!

Day 19 - Stargate SG1

There was such a great chemistry between the actors who played the four main characters who all lasted the full 10 years it was made.

Day 19: A show with the best cast. Brooklyn 99

One of those shows where I genuinely couldn't take anyone out, barring Pimento for his little "arc" which was shite. The Good Place is another recent example I could have gone for, but I feel like in B99, there's a great relationship with some brilliant moments for pretty much every pairing you could think up, they all work as a workplace unit and as friends as well, and are all just brilliant.

Helped by the fact it's the same cast the whole way through. They work brilliantly as an ensemble, and it says a lot that each of their deaths in the season 6 finale, even though it became obvious quickly it would be undone, still felt gutting to watch. Nobody is deadweight and everyone is SO watchable. David Giuntoli is great as an anchor although the character of Nick isn't the most interesting - it's Nick who allows the more interesting characters around him (Monroe, Adalind, etc) to properly shine.

Day 19: A show with the best cast: Game of Thrones

I was saving this for today because while I love a lot of things about the show like it's effects, drama, violence, journeys etc., the constant one is definitely how well acted it is. Everyone just plays their role so well and the conversations and dialogue are often some of the best things about it, it's such a widely diverse range of personalities that really adds a human touch to a show detached from reality.

I remember first watching this and being blown away by how amazing the whole thing was from start to finish. It's a prime example of how brilliant Torchwood can be (Children of Earth aside because nothing will ever top that). It had the right balance of everything; comedy, horror, drama.

Day 13: Favourite children's show: Teletubbies
Was tempted to put In the Night Garden because I've always found it pretty hilarious whenever I've been in the presence of small children, but Teletubbies was my favourite when I was younger. My family used to get so annoyed whenever I'd always have it on. Can remember having plush toys of them all too. Po though

Day 14: Favourite male character: Ron Swanson (Parks & Recreation)
Probably one of the most hilarious characters I've seen. Bloody brilliant. Honourable mentions: The 10th Doctor (Doctor Who) and Alex Karev (Grey's Anatomy); the former is just the whole essence of the Doctor captured so perfectly and the latter is probably one of the best in terms of character development throughout a show, going from complete twat to somebody the show just wouldn't be the same without.

Day 15: Favourite female character: Linda La Hughes (Gimme Gimme Gimme)
This was really difficult, had lots of names going through my mind. Honourable mentions to Rachel Mason (Waterloo Road), Clara Oswald (Doctor Who), Fiona Gallagher (Shameless UK) and Charlotte King (Private Practice), all of whom are incredible characters whose journeys in their respective shows were absolutely incredible and moved me in some way or another. But, I decided to go for one that ultimately never fails to make me laugh and is just an absolute hoot. Somebody I could just see myself being equally annoyed by and having the time of my life with on the daily. Kathy Burke is an undeniable comedy talent.

Day 16: A show that is a guilty pleasure: Ibiza Weekender

Day 17: Favourite title sequence: Shameless (UK)
Although it was forever changing visually depending on who had left / joined the cast, this is one of the best title sequences for a show that there is! Frank walking through Chatsworth telling the story of what goes on there is really incredible. Probably not everybody's cup of tea and maybe a bit long for some but it's one of the things that made the show as incredible as it is, and I could probably act it all out word for word.

Day 19: A show with the best cast: Desperate Housewives



I love the cast in pretty much every show I watch, but none so much as the main cast (and in a lot of cases, the guest cast and supporting cast for most seasons) of Desperate Housewives. Each character gives you something, makes you feel something for them with each storyline and season; whether that be loving them, hating them, or whatever else. One group of characters that I just couldn't imagine not having watched and adored as much as I did. Even the villains of each season - heinous, but love-to-hate characters. The acting from all of the cast really was one of the best things about Desperate Housewives alongside gripping and dramatic storylines.

Day 16. A show that is a guilty pleasure - Future Diary (Mirai Nikki)
This is a very popular anime show, and it's also a well-derided anime show. Nearly every piece of commentary I see about it likes to mention that it's full of plot holes and is just a complete mess thematically or if they aren't eloquent enough for that 'it was crap'. I acknowledge that, and I also enjoyed the hell out of it because it's audacious to the max, follows a very pleasing aesthetically plot structure and it ends up... kinda feeling complete. In a very haphazard way and I can see how people wouldn't enjoy it but I did. Also, its two female leads are some of the wildest, craziest and watchable characters I've ever had the fortune to come across.

Day 17. Favourite title sequence - One Punch Man
Almost went for Mirai Nikki again... or can I just choose ANY ANIME? Definitely, an area where I'd say anime and/or other animation is in most cases better than live-action on, though of course Game Of Thrones is legendary. I'd definitely put Mob Psycho 100 up for consideration, it's a beautiful arty-Beatles-yellow-submarine-vibe thing. I'm trying to use each show only once though so and there's plenty to choose from. Many Fate openings, the anime with Flashback soundtracking it is amazing. When I rank my anime OPs, I generally don't consider visuals as much as normally I'd focus on the music, putting that back into the equation and remembering what is most memorable and gives me chills the most... One Punch Man wins on all those metrics. The visuals that come along with the music are so very memorable, getting bigger, stronger, more powerful until at the very end it gives you a little hint that it's satire. It's masterful.




Day 18. Favourite theme tune - Braadio - Flyers (Death Parade)
Now, which anime OP do I put at the top of my rankings. Aah, uh, for something that feels very much like it THEMES the anime instead of just being a pop song attached to it, I'm going to go for the confusing step of picking Flyers. Which doesn't fit Death Parade at all but because it doesn't fit it at all it sort of fits, if you feel me? Anyway, it's a song that's well worthy of being a theme tune for any show so I think it's a good pick. IT'S SO CATCHY



Day 19. A show with the best cast - Assassination Classroom

'Hold on Iz' says the rare Buzzjacker with any knowledge of AssClass. 'AssClass was a cast of like 20-odd students and one teacher... how can it be the best cast? Well that's because I love large casts that cycle through characters each episode, especially when they're all generally likeable, and the fact that this class functioned as one unit to be one of the only series set in a school that felt like it had an entire school class working together made it into this legendary cast for me. Helped that at the start of the series, I spent some time memorising the names of all the students as I had genuine trouble at first. Any large cast with a selection of different personalities makes it for me but AssClass stands out because of the UNITY that all of the class have in working together to achieve their objective in assassinating their teacher. It's really positive vibes all the way.

Another difficult one. The Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble would be a VERY close second, but I absolutely adore Bellamy and Clarke's relationship in The 100. They don't always see eye-to-eye and have had their fair share of disagreements, but at the end of the day they always understand each other for what they do and why they do it. Clarke's not exactly my favourite character in the show, but they're definitely two characters that gel so well together and I root for them whenever they're both on the same page and want the same thing.

I mean the show was called 'Friends' after all so it's no surprise that the characters' chemistry and likeability is easily the best part, and I just loved the dynamic of these two, from Joey's innocent, dim-witted humour to Chandler's cynical, biting one liners, they were just perfect for bouncing off each other, shoutout to the chick and the duck as well *.*

From someone who tends to understand true friendship as a form of banter, there's something very wholesome about four girls sticking together through all the trials that a journey to Antarctica brings, a series that from concentrate shows you how the friendships between all four girls originates, then how it becomes stronger as they travel across the world together. A short friendship on screen but nearly the entire series is devoted to that friendship and it's a very powerful and high-quality series.

so many parks & rec pairings can be here: Ron & Leslie, Leslie & Ann, Donna & Tom but I used it the previous day and I could literally use TONNES of pairings in Doctor Who (DoctorDonna, 12 & Bill, 3 & Jo, 4 & Sarah Jane, 2 & Jamie) but seeing as I could use the show for everyone, I'm really trying hard to limit myself so lemme use a more random one. The show is completely odd and that's down to the brilliant partnership of James & Alyssa - brought together for different motives but end up becoming entangled with each other throughout the run. I don't think I've rooted for a couple as much as I have Nathan and Haley. The character development with both individually (particularly Nathan, going from dickhead to best thing about the show when paired with Haley), and then their relationship blossoming over the course of the first couple of seasons is just perfect to watch. I think it'd have been criminal for them not to live happily ever after when the show ended, and they always managed to work through their marital issues, no matter how big, and came out stronger at the other end.

Day 21: Your favourite romantic couple: Jin & Sun (Lost)

I was gonna say James and Alyssa! I need to be more prompt with these their gradual bonding and natural chemistry was the main highlight of the show.

However these two are wonderful too, whereas I started out thinking this was a dodgy relationship, these really are the most cute and rootable couple, with Jin's pure devotion and loyalty and Sun's more daring side do make some interesting opposites, it only makes them more meant to be when they work out, they better not die!!1 (I'm not finished yet).

Scott and Stiles' friendship carries the show's first season, with Stiles being Scott's main confidante and source of help. Though both characters progress a lot, their friendship remains one of the strongest features of the show, bringing out the best in both characters. Their bust up at the hands of Theo in season 5 is honestly tough to watch.

Day 21. Your favourite romantic couple: Monroe and Rosalee, Grimm



One of my biggest pet peeves about romantic relationships in TV is how they're all destined to fail. Very few actually seem to last, but this one was barely on the rocks at any moment. Monroe and Rosalee simply loved each other and there wasn't much more to it. One of Rosalee's best moments comes when Monroe is kidnapped by the Wesen tribunal and she has to race against time to find him. Seeing their relationship progress over the series was great too - dating and "taking it slow", to a relationship, moving in, marriage, and of course Rosalee's pregnancy at the end. Sometimes a simple love story is all that you need.

was thinking Orange is the New Black Season 4 as I loved how it played the fallout from Poussey's death and ended on a huge cliffhanger setting up a perfect arc for Season 5 BUT I couldn't not go with the finale of all finales, bringing together so many characters, as well as Daleks, Davros AND such a brilliantly devastating set-up WITHOUT it feeling like a huge fanwank. And THEN one of the best cliffhangers ever and I loved the hype the week leading up to Journey's End. It's moments like that where streaming really isn't as effective.

Day 22 - Your favourite season/series finale: A Regular Epic Final Battle (Regular Show)

(Was going to show a clip but I didn't want to spoil the finale for you)
Regular Show has managed to do some clever hints of foreshadowing planned throughout its seasons, an example being in Season 7's Pops' Favourite Planet, which is about Pops wanting to see a planet that comes once every 25 years, this planet later being revealed as his home planet in Season 8, and has also constructed some brilliant arcs such as the lore involving the Format Wars that was introduced in Season 4. Most of the elements featured in the previous seasons come together perfectly in this three-part finale. Part 2 and 3 is where most of the highlights come in. Part 2 brings back Streaming, the antagonist of Meet The Seer voiced by Dr. Facilier himself, Keith David, and sets up the giant superhero form comprising of Mordecai, Rigby, and the other main characters, along with some characters the main cast has come across throughout the show such as the Baby Ducks, Death and Carter And Briggs (the show's version of Starsky And Hutch, if i can recall), the way the episode brings back these characters together makes for some incredible action. Part 3 shows the true final battle between Pops (Mega-Kranus) and Anti-Pop (Malum-Kranus) and it comes with some stellar animation, great callbacks to The Power (the show's first episode) and The Naive Man From Lolliland (a short that the show's creator JG Quintel made back in 2005) and a very tense score. The fabric of reality starts collapsing during the battle, with some of the side effects including the characters vanishing into Post-it notes and the letters of the show's logo collapsing to add increased tension. Then comes the climax, where Pops sacrifices himself to the sun, while latching onto Anti-Pops. It makes for some heart-warming exchanges between the two along with Pops' touching last words to Mordecai and Rigby through his mind. I got a bit teary eyed during that moment.
The finale ends off with a brilliant scene where it shows the main cast's lives 25 years after the dome returned to Earth, while David Bowie's 1977 song Heroes plays in the background, which serves as a heartfelt tribute to Bowie who passed away a year before the finale aired, and it ends with that scene being on a television in heaven, with a tape coming out and Pops saying "Jolly good show" before fading to black.
Overall, this episode was such a high note for Regular Show to end on and it makes for one of my favourite season finales.



Day 23 - Most annoying character: Tyler (Big Mouth)

I can't think of a lot of TV characters that have annoyed me but this one comes to mind.
Now, Big Mouth's Season 2 managed to be an enjoyable TV season for me. From setting up a fantastic construction of the antagonist known as The Shame Wizard to looking at more struggles of the characters during their puberty phases that were established in the first season, it had many good things coming out of it. Tyler was not one of them. I found him to be pretty whiny and obnoxious and his tips for Nick during the second half of the season were not good.

24. Your favourite animated show: Bojack Horseman

I mean it is The Simpsons - the unbeatable classic with SO many HUGE moments and thousands of brilliant characters but my favourite animated show of the last few years is most definitely Bojack. I was put off for ageeees but randomly gave it a chance after Rick & Morty (because I’d been put off by that too!) and so so glad that I did! I’m not normally a binger, and by that I mean if I’m catching up on a series with a few seasons, I normally take a few months or so between seasons to stagger it out but I became obsessed with Bojack and watched the first four one after another (not in one go!!!) and was gutted when it was over! It has brilliant pop culture references and hilarious jokes but deals with incredible issues so perfectly, I would recommend to anyone

Day 22. Your favourite season/series finale: Twin Peaks S1 E8

I foolishly forgot this for best theme song (<3) and I've gotta use it for something. The first season of this was wonderful, weird yet so endearing from it's cast to it's mystery to it's aesthetic, and the finale raises so many questions yet keeps it tense and exciting. What a shame the middle of season 2 was such a tail off that I haven't even finished it yet :/

Day 23. Most annoying character: Marie (Breaking Bad)

Oh I love this show so I hate to use it for a negative category, but wow what an annoying bitch, she just NEVER did anything other than whine?! I know Skylar gets a lot of hate too, but she was at least important to the main story. Marie's stealing subplot is one of the many reasons that it was very hard for me to get into this before the end of Season 2.

Day 26: Your ideal spin-off show: Class (spin-off of Doctor Who)

Had absolutely no idea what to put for this, so decided to go with an existing one, however a few tweaks ensuring it's at least a little more successful than its parent show. As much as I adored the series that we did get (I mean The Metaphysical Engine, Or What Quill Did is a fantastic piece of television), there was no real connection to Doctor Who at all besides being set at Coal Hill (even though it wasn't really "Coal Hill") and the Doctor appearing in the first episode for a passing second. Plus it really needed a much stronger villain from the start to grab Doctor Who viewers - ideally one from Doctor Who itself - as opposed to the Shadowkin looking awful, sounding awful, and cropping back up in every second episode.

Easy target, but season 1 was SO good however about halfway through season 2 it just all started to go downhill. Everything to do with the Black Hood was just becoming sensationally unrealistic and tedious to watch, and the current season while still mildly entertaining (just because it's there to watch) is more of the same. Find it hard to believe it's been renewed for a fourth season too, but we can only hope for an improvement in quality and storytelling.

I'd say almost twenty years is fairly old x I've heard good things about it and it's not like there's loads of episodes! The first one was pretty good~

Day 26. Your ideal spin-off show: Cartoon Cartoons crossover

I have no idea what to put here as spin-off shows are generally inferior, so I'll put a childhood fantasy I had of all the Cartoon Network Cartoon Cartoons - namely The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy & Courage the Cowardly Dog AKA the best ones - having a kind of Who Framed Roger Rabbit animation/live action crossover and interacting with each other, it would make my 10 year old self squeal with delight *.* (not that this would ever happen, especially now that Dexter's original voice actor has died :'()

Day 27. A show that deteriorated in quality: The Walking Dead

I did get really engaged for seasons 2-3 and got the whole boxset of the first five seasons but S6 was a bit of a slog and S7 seemed to be starting out the same way so I've given up on it, I hear it's better now but I rlly can't be bothered. It just became too repetitive with the situations, main groups fights another group etc. and they made some awful choices with characters (Rick got less and less likeable, Carl was permanently an angry dullard and the Sharon/Abe thing was awful :/).

I definitely don't think the show itself needs to expand on the easter eggs/links anymore than it did in Black Museum but a show focusing on the apparent company behind many of the technological advances, TCKR would be interesting - delving into that world, the reasons for their introduction and like conspiracies around it. idk, spin-off shows are hard because a show's components are so natural that you can't remove one without the other

There's looooads of obvious potential for Doctor Who just due to its nature and history but I think that's been covered about a million times with all the material outside the show itself


Day 27. A show that deteriorated in quality: Primeval

The first season was excellent and I loved the next two or so but I'm still frustrated at the lack of explanation around what went on around the Season 1 cliffhanger. It's as though they wanted a mini-reboot of the show without explaining anything. The seasons after it's cancellation didn't do anything to impress me, maybe I was too old for it at that point

Day 28. First show you were obsessed with: The Simpsons

it would technically be Doctor Who in terms of obsession but I guess The Simpsons would be the first show I truly loved as a kid and would watch over and over again. I know people would probably put it for Day 27 but I've probably watched (not in full) up to around Season 19 and I genuinely still love all those seasons and I can't comment on anything after

I've watched this from such a young age and have probably seen every series more times than I can actually count. Could quote whole episodes word-for-word and still laugh out loud while watching them every time. I remember watching older episodes for the first time in my grandparents' bedroom, then eventually watching them when they were on TV, and obviously watching the new episodes as they're released now (even if it has dipped in quality massively since it returned ), but this will forever be one of my all time favourite shows.

Day 21: Your favourite romantic couple - Sakuta and Mai (Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai)

Fiction is weird with romantic couples. So often it's used as the goal of the story and the problem with this is that the relationship ends up not mattering as we never get to see it. Or it's used for drama. Which is weird as I absolutely love watching relationships where the couples banter with each other and the relationship is clearly very healthy. So I'm going to take a really recent show that's produced a very unexpected and wholesome relationship, two somewhat abrasive people who find happiness in each other. Sakuta is perhaps technically punching above his weight but doesn't care that his girlfriend, Mai, is a minor celebrity and just makes bold declarations of love that are amusingly laced with at least two levels of sarcasm, while Mai never wants to admit how much she cares for him TO him but clearly does and it's so adorable. And because they're the main duo they do stuff in the plot that isn't about their relationship. Obviously it helps immensely that you both see the relationship form in the show and how it carries on in the face of problem solving the plot of the show, which is minor sci-fi stuff. So it's a huge cut above of most anime relationships I've seen (surprisingly few romantic ones exist now I think about it).

should go without saying that relationships like B99's Jake/Amy are top tier for similar reasons, both remain their own selves, have a healthy set of banter and clearly love each other without it being overbearing.


Day 22. Your favourite season/series finale - Fringe (Over There Part 1&2)
Often I actually really underrate season finales because I focus more on the character moments a lot of the time and those aren't often involved in big action climaxes. And I want to include Fringe even though it's been years since I've seen it because I remember it uniquely having incredible season finales that focused (like the show) on slow, grand uncovering of a big world. Fringe is overall just one of the greatest barely remembered shows ever, I think, but this final in particular that opened up its true potential, and finally completed its morphing from its original premise as a sci-fi-tinged procedural to a show filled with beautiful alternate universes and complex character interpretations. It's a show I have nothing but praise for and I don't often say that for shows not among my traditional favourites that I watched years ago (I don't have any great desire to rewatch Heroes/Teen Wolf (soz Joseph)/Doctor Who at the moment) but Fringe, man, Fringe was incred.

Day 23. Most annoying character - Yui (K-On)

You know how hard it is for me to dislike an anime girl? I was struggling and then I remembered this one. K-On is actually a really sweet show and I know some people really love all the girls on it but Yui I cannot. Clearly made to be relatable to anyone who is super lazy, she's just so lazy that when I'm trying to get my comfy fix of cute girls being in a rock band but actually drinking tea she comes along and whines about having to do ANYTHING. She does get slightly better and I generally find it hard to hate characters but that type of character is the worst (see also Gabriel from Gabriel Dropout or well, comedy western animation protagonist like Peter/Homer but I have a contract with the anime industry to fulfil), I like watching TV to see characters who are competent at things and that character archetype goes against what I'm looking for.

Day 24: Your favourite animated show - Fate/Zero

Obviously it's gonna be anime, but it's a question between two for me. Steins;Gate, which takes a slow build of a plot, weaves it together slowly but masterfully before CRASHING down on you such that the second half will seem like a blur as you frantically watch it all in one sitting, or at least that was my experience, or whether it's Fate/Zero, which starts out with a beautifully explained plot where the end result is pretty much inevitable and yet that's all part of the experience, as tragedy, weight of character legends and incredible animated fight scenes build on top of the other from start to finish. I'm going to plump for Fate/Zero this time but it's so close, it's always oscillating. (also to break stereotypes, neither involve high school in any way shape or form , as much as I do enjoy a good school setting)

Day 25: An old show you plan on watching - Twin Peaks

Along with Neon Genesis Evangelion, Battlestar Galactica and Stargate and Babylon 5, this is the only one on my list of old shows to watch that isn't sci-fi or anime. I've just heard it's really good and genre-defining and I've been saying I need to watch it for years now (and same with the rest of those).

Day 26. Your ideal spin-off show - Angel Beats - Reincarnation
Angel Beats is a comedic show with a good and diverse cast that is just far too short. Seeing the cast in new lives and possibly setting together some plot that draws all the main characters together, as the ending sort of teased but cut away from, would be pretty great.

Day 27. A show that deteriorated in quality - Heroes/Misfits
Easy stuff. Great and interesting first season, I actually somewhat enjoyed parts of the later seasons but they were absolutely nothing compared to earlier. As we're getting near the end let's chuck in Misfits too, essentially the UK concept of the same thing that also faltered after a fair few seasons.

Day 28. First show you were obsessed with- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
I think I'm going to have to do my first repeat but getting to day 28 is pretty good and I used it for a negative category so it's okay. I was so into the mythology of Deep Space Nine to the exclusion of all else when I was younger, a Star Trek with a deep background story and way ahead of its time with arc plots. Many, many, excellent episodes of TV.

Oh yes Misfits, another show that was weakened by it’s original cast leaving. Although I do feel it may have held up slightly better if they didn’t have to remove Lauren. I did like Abbey out of the new characters though!

Twin Peaks has a wonderful first season, I think you'd be very into it, Iz! The second is unfortunately a bit of a slog in the middle but it apparently gets better at the end, I'm actually yet to finish it I do eventually intend to though.

Day 28. First show you were obsessed with: Merlin

It was most likely one of this, Doctor Who, The Simpsons, Dexter's Lab or Friends but I've gone this far without reusing shows so I'll use this. While it was fairly repetitive and episodic in nature, I liked the characters and there were some wonderful high fantasy moments that always pleased me. That ending was awful tho...

I think the thing about Misfits for me is that I can clearly recall most of the first three seasons' plots and cared hugely about the characters and how they were going to live with these powers (I was really bummed out when Nikki died because she felt like she was naturally integrating into the group and if the new characters had been integrated like that it would have felt better) and she died if I recall in quite a trivial way and it always annoyed me that they didn't time travel back to stop it in some way. Hence Abbey was easily the best of the new characters because she was also integrated in a similarly steady way, giving her some character, but I can only recall like one episode from the later seasons kinda well and it's that one where there are sex numbers above everyone's heads for some reason so that's only because the plot is notably goofy rather than it being good.




Definitely feels like the the first season is legendary from what I know. I'll have to consider starting it.

I only finished watching Friends from start to finish for the first time when it was put on Netflix, and while I thoroughly enjoyed it, I just can't grasp how it's the phenomenon it is? Sure, it's pretty funny most of the time, pleasant to watch and Phoebe is just everything you could want in a comedy character, but I can't say I feel the urge to go back and rewatch any time soon, or even watch repeats on TV like everyone seems to love doing whenever they've got spare time.

Friends is a good show but it's so overhyped. It has charm and It's comfort food for a lot of people I suppose, but there's no way it should be considered to be the greatest sitcom of all time.

I get that with Friends too, it's odd to say it's overhyped when I think it's a brilliant show but the level of hype and praise it gets is almost unparalleled and it's just not THAT good!

There are SO many I could have gone for here (Mike in Desperate Housewives, Maxine in Waterloo Road, Lexa in The 100, Mandy in Shameless, and (not technically a death, but emotional af nonetheless) Donna in Doctor Who) but ultimately went with Derek. It's not so much him actually dying that hits me, it's the sheer brilliance of the whole story when it happens, the acting from Ellen Pompeo in particular, and the ripple effect afterwards. The scene in the hospital where Meredith lets him go is truly heartbreaking. And of course, we got Arizona in a later episode slaying someone for being inconvenienced by his death *.* It still managed to make me cry and feel all the feels even though my friends that had caught up before me spoiled.

Thanks for starting this Klaus! It's been great to have a little throwback to some of the finest (and not so fine) moments of TV. Would be great to have another one with different questions later down the line!

Ok bit of a curveball for me for the last day but, back when I watched Eastenders, Ronnie was my favourite character and the storyline of her lost daughter was one of my favourites. Ronnie had all the tragic storylines and Danielle wasn’t living the best life either, this was like the potential for them both to have a real happy moment. And it was building and building and building and you were ready for the reward, only for it to be taken away at the blink of a second!!

Day 30: Saddest Character Death: Badger (The Animals of Farthing Wood)

I mean yeah the show killed a lot of characters, but this one was especially effective. Animal deaths are like the saddest ever, and I loved this show growing up and really liked how it didn't skirt over serious issues even with anthropomorphic animals. Badger (who completely gave me the wrong impression of actual badgers for a long time ) was a wonderful character and him dying of old age and getting dementia, not even remembering his friend Moley was just...

So in sum:

Day 24: Your favourite animated show
Gravity Falls



Two twin siblings spent their Summer in a mysterious town with their scheming great uncle. The show is filled with mystery and a good balance of humour and story. There's also some clever foreshadowing throughout the show (which I love in story-driven shows like this. Another notable example being the presence of a snail in a few scenes in some Adventure Time eousides to represent The Lich), as well as having one of my favourite villains in media in the form of Bill Cipher.




Day 25: An old show you plan on watching

Twin Peaks



I haven't seen this show yet, but from what I'm hearing, it looks to be excellent. Love the theme song and a few of the clips I've seen (The "Meanwhile" scene especially shook me when I first saw it and it shows that David Lynch is great at horrors and thrillers) were great.





Day 26: Your ideal spinoff show


I would like a Doctor Who spinoff showing the Doctor's adventures following the 1996 movie and before the events of "Rose". I would like to see more of the 8th Doctor, and it would be great to see what were the catalysts of the Time War that led to Gallifrey's demise. I wouldn't mind if it was live-action or animated.
