Whta do you mean? All her albums went platinum at the least.

Her albums have done very well!
but i do agree that her singles are more popular!

Posted by: Luciano 14th March 2006, 01:32 AM

But I'd love to sell 735,000 copies anyday, lol! Still I agree she did better with the singles, BOMT with 1 million, all the follow-ups more than 300k until DLMBTLTK and then "Toxic" and "Everytime" bothe selling 200k+

Posted by: Allysa 14th March 2006, 02:48 AM

and to sell more than 200k now adays is REALLY good.

Well for an international artist to sell over 1m with her debut album is pretty impressive. Then to have her sophomore attempt to sell just under 1m is impressive. I agree about the Britney album though I really thought it would have sold more but I guess not? unsure.gif The sales for In The Zone are quite decent, although considering the album spawned 2 #1 singles it's not really all that impressive I guess? unsure.gif Although I could have sworn ITZ only sold about 350k. blink.gif These all look official though so I am pleased to say I was obviously wrong. laugh.gif tongue.gif

I don't think the maxi CD is being released in the UK. For some singles that seems to be the case and then the maxi gets released to other European nations.

Gimme More is Britney's 2nd longest running charting single in UK (18 weeks), only ...Baby One More time has spent more weeks than GM (22 weeks) xD wink.gif

Posted by: Tyler 29th February 2008, 02:44 AM

Your right, it just beat out Toxic by one week. I think POM could possible become her longest running single! It is on it's tenth week and is still in the top 15!

Posted by: Music Maniac 2nd March 2008, 07:07 PM

POM is still hanging in there only falling one spot this week on the chart! biggrin.gif Blackout has fallen 8 spots this week to #55 which is expected until the gear up for a new single release. happy.gif

Posted by: dirrrty 2nd March 2008, 11:04 PM

Do you think Blackout will pass 200k?

Posted by: Tyler 3rd March 2008, 02:29 AM

I think it will be platinum by the end of the year, if they realease 4 singles as planed.

Posted by: Music Maniac 4th March 2008, 10:26 PM

I agree. happy.gif It should keep climbing up the charts when more singles are released.

Posted by: Tyler 5th March 2008, 02:07 AM

EW DYLAN PUT THAT OTHER BOMT COVER BACK ON THEIR NOW. BLEH.

POM still at 31 this week, and new entry at #36 for BTI biggrin.gif.

Posted by: Tyler 1st April 2008, 01:05 AM

Fabulous! POM has had the best endurance out of all her singles! ohmy.gif

Posted by: Tyler 7th April 2008, 01:43 AM

Updated.

Posted by: Tyler 14th April 2008, 04:04 AM

Piece Of Me down 5 to #42. but is now the second longest running single in the top 75 along with Gimme More, only beating BOMT by 4 weeks, so I think POM can easily make 5 more weeks considering it is still at #37 on iTunes.

Break The Ice is up two positions, at number 23, it is released on physicals this week so hopefully it can make the top ten. It is at #15 on iTunes at the moment so make sure you buy a copy if you haven't already.

Blackout is up 13 positions from last week, landing at #43 so BTI is definitely helping 'Blackout' get closer to hitting platinum.

Posted by: Music Maniac 15th April 2008, 03:21 AM

Great news! I really hope BTI can manage to be another top 10 hit for her in the UK! biggrin.gif Hopefully the single does help Blackout go platinum too.

Posted by: Jim. 16th April 2008, 05:23 PM

'Blackout' was #11 in my nearby HMV today ohmy.gif

Obviously that's not the case nationwide, but it was still good to see smile.gif

It could do, but eitherway it will beat 'I love rock 'n' roll' in the long run. Sales are more important that chart positions, it will probably sell more and the chart run will be FAR better! happy.gif and it will also help boost album sales and get Blackout back into the Top 40 biggrin.gif

Posted by: Music Maniac 18th April 2008, 04:32 AM

I agree with you. happy.gif It'll probably be more successful then quite a few of her other singles anyways. Plus, BTI is already helping the album to sell more and rise in the albums chart.

Posted by: Tyler 20th April 2008, 04:30 PM

I think BTI may be one of her lowest charting singles, but I do think that it will have alot more endurance then ILRNR, DLMBTLTK, etc.

Posted by: Music Maniac 20th April 2008, 05:04 PM

Yeah, I think this single still has the potential to hang around longer. Hopefully by some chance it can rise next week or something to give it a better peak. laugh.gif It still made top 15 though which is good.

Posted by: Music Maniac 20th April 2008, 05:46 PM

Wow, Blackout has went up to #25 this week from #43! biggrin.gif Great news!

Break The Ice REALLY has helped Blackout, I hope it can get back into the top twenty next week!

Posted by: spicefunk 21st April 2008, 09:33 PM

agreed. Blackout was listed as Top 40 all week in the midweeks so 25 is great! Shame BTI slipped a couple of places but as said at least its still Top 15. Maybe it can rise with an extra day of physicals on sale this week!

UK chart positions for Britney this week:

"Piece Of Me" - down 7 spots from #40 to #47.

"Break The Ice" - down 2 spots from #15 to #17.

"Blackout" - up 6 spots from #25 to #19.

Well...we were all expecting BTI to fall on the chart, but at least it was only 2 spots. POM is doing great, one of the most enduring singles for Britney in the UK and still Top50 after many weeks. Blackout reached one of the highest positions in a long time climbing to the Top20 once again and showing no signs of slowing down wink.gif

I got all the sale figures from a Britney site that is pretty accurate...MP was also released in November so sales were alot higher. It was also when her, eminem, Christina, and 2 other big artists were fighting for number one...

Posted by: Simon. 29th April 2008, 10:09 PM

Ahhh yep thats true, still really suprising though ain't it when you look at its run.

Posted by: Luciano 30th April 2008, 03:00 AM

I still think those sales figures for both "My Prerogative" and "Do Somethin" are pretty exagerated... I believe MP sold around 100,000 and DS sold around 60,000 copies.

Posted by: Tyler 30th April 2008, 10:36 PM

My Prerogative has been officially certified silver so that means it has sold 200k or more...

Piece of Me falls 7 positions at #54 on it's 20th week within the top 75, and it is less then 20,000 copies away from being certified, and if it make 3 more weeks on the chart it will be her longest running single ever!

Break The Ice 4 spots to #21, which is not that bad, bringing her sales to a modest 40k.

Blackout stays in the same position as last week staying at #19...hopefully it will continue to generate steady sales!

I find you entertaining really, even if I was wrong on the certifications and sales I would be happy to change it, but so far I have been getting my sales from another Britney site (and if you had any sense yourself you would have read that. before you started jumping to assumptions) and besides your lame ass attempts at making me feel stupid, you have proved nothing when it comes to sales for Britney's singles, but you have proved the overwhelming amount of free time you must have. Seriously go play cards or something instead of digging through an artists forums you don't even like, just to make yourself feel more competent then others.

I am the one that posted the higher sales, but I got them from the website UKBritney.TV. I don't have a clue which is the true sales.

Posted by: Luciano 17th August 2008, 02:37 AM

Nevertheless, Piece Of Me has sold more than what it's posted on the 2008 Year-to-date chart, cause that only counts sales for 2008 and Piece Of Me sold some copies as a an album download track in 2007 when Blackout was released.

Posted by: Tyler 17th August 2008, 06:47 AM

True...but we would just be making up an estimate, so....

Posted by: Martin. 17th August 2008, 08:03 AM

Yes, but as it would've been down in the charts, it wouldn't have had that many sales, not making a difference to the total sales.

Posted by: Tyler 18th August 2008, 06:43 AM

It probably had enough sales to push it over 200k, but that's it.

Posted by: Martin. 18th August 2008, 07:37 AM

Yeah, because it was very low in the charts in 2007, so it probably would've only had around 11,000 sales in 2007 or something. happy.gif

Posted by: Luciano 18th August 2008, 06:15 PM

But that's amazing, isn't it? It means "Piece Of Me" has sold more than the likes of "Everytime", "My Prerogative" or "Me Against The Music" which is pretty impressive considering how much the music business has changed.

Posted by: Martin. 18th August 2008, 06:33 PM

Not really. The last sales update for Everytime was at least a year ago, so there must be more sales - I would say around 209,000. And Piece Of Me has sold around 206,000 - and it's not impressive for My Prerogative and Me Against The Music - because My Prerogative peaked lower, and Me Against The Music peaked the same.

Hey Tyler did you mean the Blackout Chart Run rather than POM's sales you quoted? Noticed you removed the extra weeks. I get your point but why not leave them in but greyed out since its what's been done for the greatest hits (been there for months) as i think people still find the info useful. Also some of the earlier weeks are outside the top 75 but still included in your edit, and you left the total number of weeks at 36 (which it is for top 200) but should be reduced if its top 75 only you want. Sales report for Circus have not come in but it has atleast sold 11-12k this week as #24 (Rudenko) sold 10,575 copies this week. That brings it's sales to 101k+. And Womanizer is now Britney's 4th biggest selling single!

Circus also is holding steady only falling 3 spots to #53 on the album charts, bringing it's total sales to 277k+. Should hit platinum status within a month or two! I think it has a chance of scraping double platinum since she is still set to tour this Summer, and IYSA will deffinitely help it get back in the top 40.

Posted by: Tyler 24th February 2009, 04:29 PM

Well it's not so much that the people actually seeing the tour will help album sales, but more so the hype that will come with her when she is in the UK. Radio will most likely kiss her ass and media outlets will be whoring her name in a relation to her music. It's happened in America, She starts touring her in only a week and for the first time in her career she has three songs in the top 40 on mediabase, and If You Seek Amy doesn't even have an official radio release date.

And I think IYSA will help get Circus back up on the album charts, because for the past 3 months the only promo the album has gotten is Circus and Womanizer, which were major sales drivers during Christmas. So hopefully a new single will get people buying enough again to get her back in the top 20... and plus Britney's albums have always done this in between singles, since the Britney era...Circus has shown the most endurance out of all her studio albums since OIDIA.

The Hits are counting down the 100 biggest selling female singles of the 21st Century and Toxic was #41 with sales of 330,000 - just thought you might like to know

Nah not convinced of ANY of your logic here - as usual imo its too selective with the details (or lack of familiarity with uk charts/pop culture?) eg in the uk, generally, tours for well established acts seems to have fleeting if much impact at all on album sales (touring more valuable for the fan base pleasing/strengthening i'd say)- granted Britneys has had such an exceptional absence from touring in comparison so its more a unique/ unknown.

...of course this criticism depends on the existence of my rationality, so for the record i'd have to say i think its more likely the opposite of your predictions here will occur.

PS. Could i make a request for MORE space for sig pics in this forum as my most subtle modest pic wouldn't even fit sad.gif .......(AND i can ONLY make it to London + Back from here in Scotland while the 52kbps dial up connection downloads ONE page sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif ),,,,, CHEERS!

I don't suppose anyone has a list of all her UK single (and album) sales in order from biggest to smallest selling?

Posted by: Andrewy 19th May 2009, 07:29 PM

Do you mean UK sales, or worldwide?

In terms of worldwide, off've the top of my head, the album order is Baby One More Time (25mill), Oops (17mill), Britney (9mill), In The Zone (7.7mill), Circus (3.1mill), Blackout (about 2.2mill).

The singles will be available on her wikipedia discography page, but if I remember correctly, they're in order of platinum/gold/silver certification, rather than specific sales...

Posted by: Tyler 27th May 2009, 02:35 AM

Yeah, Circus did really well when it comes to sales. I would say it was a hit for her in the UK, sales are certainly more important then a chart position.

Posted by: Music Maniac 27th May 2009, 03:47 AM

I think the singles are just being released too late in the UK and rest of Europe. I get that singles are usually released 3 months a part from one another but the whole thing with Circus being released not too long after Womanizer kinda threw things off. Australia gets the single releases at the rate the USA is going for the most part and the peaks and chart runs seem to be much better in both areas. I'm just thinking the hype wears off before the singles are getting to be officially released. Hopefully the tour brings back more attention to the singles and album since she normally doesn't do promo very much at all in Europe.

VH1 have been showing an Official top 20 countdown for her singles, so thought i'd put up the results for your viewing.

Apparently, it's an official chart made up of sales from The Official Charts Company. Unfortunately I tuned in halfway through, so I haven't got the sales figures they put up for the songs outside the top 10.

Hello peeps,

Does anybody know the sales figures for Radar? I was just wondering if it is her worst selling single in the UK. I know it had the worst charting position, but before it reached its peak, it had been on digital sale for roughly 2 years.

I'd hate to think of such a quality song being her worst, i'm much happier to think Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know is instead smile.gif

Thank you in advance.

I'm sure she will; so long as she sells 76,000+ again. Hopefully more if she promotes her ass off. yahoo.gif

I know a lot of people seem to think that Britney is failing in the UK, but looking at her stats, out of 27 singles she has ha 21 top 10 singles, with a further 5 in the top 20, and all her studio albums in the top 20, I think Britney is still very popular, and still has a lot to offer.

Hold It Against Me drops 10 places to 18 in the UK top 40.

Posted by: IggyMcPig 9th February 2011, 10:16 AM

Well, I was reading the other day about how UK singles are changing, as soon as a song hits radio, it will be available to download from iTunes etc.

What do you guys think this will do for Britneys following singles, apart from Radar all of her other 26 singles have peaked in the Top 20, do you think these new rules will see an end to this?

Posted by: Tyler 9th February 2011, 05:20 PM

Not if she promotes her material.

I wownder if it will get 100k before the video premiere, that would be a very good achievement, and would make it her 21st best selling UK single so far.

Posted by: Tyler 9th February 2011, 06:44 PM

Here's a pic of the physical:

Posted by: Little_Boyo 11th February 2011, 01:25 PM

I wonder how much the video will help this... It's not really doing as well as planned and it's already about to fall out the top 30 on iTunes, I can't see it getting back in the top 10, though I hope I'm wrong!

Posted by: Music Maniac 11th February 2011, 08:15 PM

It's already starting to rise again in quite a few iTunes stores, probably due to exposure from comparisons with Born This Way? So at least should stay steady until the video release.

Posted by: Tyler 12th February 2011, 06:18 PM

It's because she needs to get her ass out there and start promoting right after the video is released. It has been a f***ing month and NO promo at all! I mean DAMN.

Posted by: Music Maniac 12th February 2011, 06:47 PM

Yeah, sorry to bring up Lady GaGa again... but her single just came out yesterday and she's already doing a Grammys performance tomorrow. Also, she's performing and doing an interview on Jay Leno in a few days too.

Of course, I'm not trying to say that she's been slacking though. She's still working hard on the album (which kind of puzzles me as she's been working on it the last 2 years as well?). Also, Brit has a family and Lady GaGa obviously doesn't... lol.

She said she's going to do a lot of promo so I have faith! I'm sure it will start soon. And promo around the album release itself is what matters the most anyways. It's not so much about the single sales.

It would already surpass sales of 'My Prerogative', 'Do Somethin', 'Boys', 'I Love Rock N Roll', 'Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know' and obviously 'Radar'.

Weirdly, this now seems to have been removed from iTunes, maybe someone put it on too early.....

Brit is currently sitting at number 50 on the UK iTunes chart, but hopefully, with the video premiering and the remix EP released next week, the song should rise again.

Not unless she does some promotion for it...

This could be her worst selling debut from a studio album here in the UK, Slave sold 175,000+, if Brit doesn't come over here until the second single/album, then I'm not sure HIAM will surpass that.

Posted by: IggyMcPig 24th February 2011, 11:44 AM

According to the YTD thread in Charts, HIAM has sold 103,700 copies in the UK.

This weeks sales should see it surpass If U Seek Amy, and finally break into the top 20 biggest selling Britney songs.........underperformed like crazy though.

I liked the fact that IUSA was #20 mellow.gif

Posted by: IggyMcPig 24th February 2011, 03:03 PM

Well, I guess for a third single off an album, If U Seek Amy is around about correct.......however Hold It Against Me, as the first single, should be much higher, in the top 10 even.

Posted by: IggyMcPig 27th February 2011, 07:03 PM

So....even the video couldn't help this single.

The single dropped to #38 this week, and will very likely drop out of the top 40 next week, meaning only 6 weeks in the top 40.

Disappointing, very disappointing.

Posted by: IggyMcPig 27th February 2011, 07:29 PM

I'm actually quite afraid for the album, I have a horrible feeling it'll go top 20, then drop like a stone.

Posted by: Music Maniac 28th February 2011, 12:59 AM

Well, hopefully we get some promo in the UK too.

And the single isn't exactly dropping that much on iTunes still. It's been hanging around the lower range of the 30s for the past few days at least... and hasn't really moved. So it could be quite a bit worse.

Posted by: sclub7fan001 28th February 2011, 10:56 AM

I don't think she is going to promote in the UK for HIAM, as she starting in the US in late March.

Posted by: Music Maniac 28th February 2011, 05:31 PM

Just because GMA is the first officially announced bit of promo, doesn't mean it will be the first. She promoted in the UK before the US last time for the Circus album...

FF is back in UK album chart @ #164 this week

Jay any sales info?

Posted by: Paramore 30th November 2011, 09:11 PM

If only she would put aside a week per single to come to the UK. The European press would come to her in London. She just has to show up, do some chat shows and do a live lounge on Radio One and maybe X Factor/Strictly. Part of the reason Rihanna and Buble are so successful here is because they maintain visibility in the media on their terms.

Toxic is #247 on UK iTunes now!

Posted by: THEO. 28th June 2012, 12:33 PM

It was played quite extensively on an episode of Big Brother (Tuesday night I think), which would explain that.

^It's 59p on iTunes

G'wan, "Sometimes"! Slaying those faves biggrin.gif A shame "Piece of Me" isn't up there too, but it was released in a low-sales climate.

The Singles Collection has been moved to the budget albums chart, entering at #30 following the broadcast of Glee's Britney 2.0 last week.

Posted by: Nick F1 24th January 2013, 10:29 PM

so it didn't re-enter in top 200 albums chart?

No, it can only enter one or the other (and due to the low cost, it entered the budget chart). I don't know the full/official rules though on eligibility for budget albums, but I'm guessing #30 in budgets is a lot higher than where she would be officially.

Posted by: Nick F1 24th January 2013, 10:36 PM

I'm surprised it sold that much tbh! Must be the Glee episode that sold a few extra copies..

I wonder why Blackout wasn't re-certified Platinum. In 2008 it was on around 280,000 sales right?

Also, Femme Fatale passed 100,000 sales too right? Its 2011 EOY figure was around 91,000 I remember.
