(anyone good at art want to create a banner? see the general discussion thread!)

With over 60% of the poll, the first film for FilmClub will be horror classic The Exorcist.

The film is available on: Amazon Prime. (If you don't have Amazon Prime then I am sure its online somewhere and/or DVD's still exist xx)

You have from today (the 9th) till Sunday (15th) to watch the film, it would be fab to see as many people as possible participating! Please post your thoughts in this thread after watching and hopefully this'll lead to discussion. (The other FilmClub thread is general discussion so if you have any ideas for themes or stuff to do with filmclub post them there x)

Movie mods won't be hosting rabbit sessions, but if anyone wants to host one then feel free to & you can post it here if you are planning to!

Hopefully this works & let's get going *.*

I'll try and pick it up cheap in CEX when I'm in town tomorrow if possible. Looking forward to finally seeing this but I'm not entirely sure I'll make it all the way through due to being completely terrified and having to turn it off in order to prevent 0 hours sleep for the next decade laugh.gif

I'm SO hyped for this. It's one of those classics that I've always needed to get round to watching but never have so I'm glad I can finally tick that off *.*

I'll watch some point early this week <3

I saw the film in August with my older sister. We rented it from a video rental shop near our holiday home

Yes the book is excellent.

As for the others films.. avoid them all except for The Exorcist III which ignores the atrocious #2 and is based on the book Legion - itself a sort of sequel to The Exorcist by William Blatty.
Exorcist III is really good too (and has for me the greatest jump scare ever - and I find jump scares tedious/annoying usually) and well worth watching.

If you can track down the Blu-Ray only cut entitled Legion as it is the film director Blatty intended before the studio made The Exorcist references more explicit and much of the footage was thought lost for years.

I watched it for the second time over the weekend and unfortunately I still found it incredibly boring. sad.gif

My mam was saying that she went to the cinema to see it when it first came out and people were fainting and everything, she couldn't go home alone that night either.

But I found it neither scary or entertaining in any way. The plot wasn't bad by any means, I just found myself laughing at Regan (I think watching Scary Movie 2 so many times has completely ruined The Exorcist for me).

5/10

okay.... WOW.

as I said earlier this is the first time I've ever watched this! i'm a huge fan of horror so I always have meant to watch this and I genuinely can't believe it took me that long. a film way ahead of it's time, shocking and i found myself having to look away at parts, the hospital scenes in particular were so hard for me to watch. the acting was genuinely incredible and the narrative whilst simple was chilling and so effective, i can't believe how quick two hours just went by! a really intriguing analysis of the psyche

9/10!

I've watched quite a bit of it and gonna watch the remaining half an hour tomorrow as I am exhausted. Enjoying it so far, am finding it quite slow at times but I love the atmospheric feel and some scenes have literally had me gasping!

I'll try and get a full review in time but next Monday I'm going to see the stage version live and I'm so anxious and terrified about the prospect of it. Going to be intense!

I couldn't find this in CEX in town and tbh I'm kind of glad because if anything, I need MORE sleep right now rather than any less heehee.gif

I may catch up on it soon as it is a classic film that I probably ought to see but I'm hoping the next FilmClub will be a bit more up my street laugh.gif
