25 May marked 10 years since the release of 'Timebomb', a stand-alone single released as part of Kylie's K25 celebrations. The song was written by Karen Poole, Matt Schwartz and Paul Harris (the latter two also produced) and lyrically focuses on dancing and having fun before hypothetically running out of time. It was an instant hit with music critics who were a fan of its electro-pop composition, although was only a moderate success commercially; in the UK, it failed to improve on its #31 debut despite achieving that position on just two days of sales and in Australia it peaked at #12. The music video saw Kylie filming in the streets of Soho and fans were encouraged to use the hashtag "KylieTimebomb" on Twitter to unlock the video. 10 years on, what are your thoughts and memories of 'Timebomb'? |

One of the best things she's EVER EVER done. Bouncy, slick, cool, sexy electro-pop. I'd love a whole album of this sound. Video is also perfect, filmed at one of my regular drinking haunts.
I so wish they hadn't stupidity released it mid-week though. |

It's definitely a bop, very enjoyable and I love the production reminiscent of 'I Like the Way' by BodyRockers. I don't think it would have worked as a lead single but I'd have liked it to be a taste of what was to come on her next album. We've gone over it a million times but the direction she appeared to be going in with this, 'Skirt', the Fernando Garibay tracks etc. seemed much more exciting than the more Kylie-by-numbers sound of the final album.
I can remember the countdown towards the songs release. Obviously she revealed something on the 25th of each month and with 28th May being her birthday, I think I assumed something special was coming for May. I remember an image of a bomb and I think a still from the music video which was Kylie's silhouette as part of the teasers. Really liked the song on first listen and I loved her performance of it on The Voice UK - she looked great in those denim hotpants! I obviously get why it was released when it was but I do wish it had a full week of sales for its debut. It sold 10,044 after two days and about 12k the following week, so if we pretend they waited for the second week and added those sales together, it would have been Top 20. |

Her record companies, be it Parlophone or BMG, seem to have a way to botch her peak position in the chart. Yeah, I agree that the music direction of Timebomb and Garibay would have been a lot better but Kylie didn't have a lot of artistic freedom when she was with Parlophone, remember when she said she had to fight to get "No More Rain" on her X album? It was only when she joined BMG then she went totally free. "Disco" is a Kylie album by any standards but it seems to break away from her usual euro-dance pop style. It has a lot more force of nature to it. |

Ya the way it was released was messed up as it cost her at least going top 20. I like timebomb but I don't love it, I kinda seem to forget about it more than anything with it not been part of any studio album.

I still find it incredible how that (pointless) GH which was released alongside this didn't even feature it.

I still find it incredible how that (pointless) GH which was released alongside this didn't even feature it. Ah yes, the greatest hits with the tracking list picked by the fans, featuring Tears On My Pillow and Celebration over Step Back in Time and What Do I Have to Do… It was so clearly a cheap cash in but the fact they opted for her PWL covers over original material (easier to licence) says it all. Timebomb at least should have been on there; someone on PopJustice suggested that maybe copies had already been printed prior to Timebomb, which I guess could be one reason. |

I'm trying to think outside kiss me once tour was timebomb performed on any other tour? No but it later became "Step Back In Time" collection released in 2019. Timebomb at least should have been on there; someone on PopJustice suggested that maybe copies had already been printed prior to Timebomb, which I guess could be one reason. Ah... Parlophone "botched" the release again. They should've recorded the single first, then organize the GH! I think if it had been included, it would have gone to a low Top 10 position. This seems so forgotten in her back catalogue, is it just me? Maybe it's because I only ever really listen to albums and this doesn't feature on one. But whenever I hear it, it's a gem so more attention for it please!

I like timebomb. It’s got a harder edge than some of her previous work at that time. It deserved to do a lot better than no31 peak. I’m proud to say I have the CD single which includes the extended version!
