YASS Carly slaying her way to A List cheer.gif

Posted by: Joe. 16th September 2015, 04:48 PM

Oops at Rita gone.

Carly being on the A list is a big shock. With promo, people cherry picking and A list support I can fully see the song going top 40 now.

Pia moving up 2 lists to A-list tho cheer.gif

Posted by: JosephBieber 16th September 2015, 04:54 PM

LOVING those a-list climbs for Carly, Justin, James and Pia wub.gif All excellent tracks!

Not very exciting addition-wise but yay for Ellie getting support from the get go, I hope the song doesn't disappoint.

*.* dr dre still retaining that r1 relevancy :cheeseblock:

good to see support for sir newman + naughty boy cheer.gif in what is otherwise a very humdrum week for additions~ nocheer.gif

looks like pia mia will finally go top10 now with that c>>a leap biggrin.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt 16th September 2015, 04:54 PM

Elated for Carly! I keep being worried they'll drop her due to its lack of progress on iTunes but I hope now that can be the push it needs to get top 40. Also great for Feder! biggrin.gif

Interested to hear that Naughty Boy track.

Nothing But Thieves still pumping out those Radio 1-supported flop singles wub.gif. 'Wake Up Call' is pretty catchy and commercial sounding so I hope it'll finally give them a hit of sorts.

Pia Mia skipping over Bia from Cia. ohmy.gif

Posted by: Mango 16th September 2015, 04:55 PM

Wow, Carly A-listed? Did NOT see that coming ohmy.gif especially considering that 'I Really Like You' was only B-listed.

A bit light on new additions this week but there's not much out in the next few weeks. Hopefully Ellie's single is good. Kinda thought Nick Brewer might be promoted to the C-list this week.

The 30 second preview for Ellie Goulding's new song doesn't sound promising to me. After 'Love Me Like You Do', I thought she'd go back to interesting music but this is sound a lot like 'Burn'.

Interested to hear Naughty Boy's new single; loved the collabs on his debut album so a Beyonce collab has definitely got me excited. Hopefully a dark and brooding track.

Ooh wonderful to see Drake, Carly and Pia moving up to the A-List! Carly hopefully looking to make some progress into the top 40 rather than just slipping away as feared, yay.

Also brilliant to see 'Goodbye' move up to B-List! Doing the business elsewhere in Europe so hopefully will follow suit here. A real grower. wub.gif

I love the sample they use in Talk To Me (Crystal Water's Gypsy Woman) tongue.gif

Is Nick Brewer the new Professor Green?

Posted by: steve201 16th September 2015, 09:47 PM

Is Drake up from c-a as well?

Surprised to see Carley up into the Alist, makes you wonder why they keep it B listed so long. Prob be A listed for 2 weeks or so.

Pretty happy with the Dr Dre add!

Posted by: Jonjo 16th September 2015, 09:49 PM

Ugh looks like Natalie is going the same way as Nick Jonas has! FFS. These gems flopping! cry.gif

Great to see Carly up to A though *.*

Seen that comparison everywhere! laugh.gif Suppose it's more apt than when Professor Green was compared to Eminem. Shame it hasn't moved up, although it's doing promisingly anyway.

Very intrigued to hear a Naughty Boy and Beyonce collab.

So pleased for Carly! Oops at Rita. It really doesn't deserve to be her first single to miss the Top 20 (with Rita as the lead artist). sad.gif

Posted by: LeeWallace 17th September 2015, 02:06 AM

No MNEK and Zara sad.gif

It's a fair comparison and the UK probably needs a new white male rapper now that Professor Green's success is dwindling. He'll never be as good though!

Not to mention Plan B retreating from the limelight and Devlin going back underground.

UK labels have been accused of promoting white rappers because they're 'safer' to market and are less threatening to their audience.

Less threatening? In what way?!

Black youth culture in this country is portrayed as violent by the media at large and this influences A LOT of people, whether they know it or not. This basically means that given a choice between an equally talented black or white urban artist, a UK label will almost always choose the white artist as they are marketable to a larger audience. There's countless examples of this!

Or have you noticed when artists like Wiley or Skepta were on major labels they released watered down music? That's because their normal grime was considered too threatening to a wider audience. Is it coincidence that German Whip was from a white artist? Bet if Meridian Dan was black, it wouldn't have received mainstream support no matter how much the tune banged!

Sorry for the rant, but it's something I feel strongly about. laugh.gif
