This was mentioned in her mailer:
“She is also working on brand new, completely re-energised solo material, following unexpected Next Gen co-signs ranging from global sensation Billie Eilish to hip-hop royalty Amine.“

See this I find interesting! Quite random signings but they do signal a new take on her music which is GREAT! I have been wanting a proper artistic development for a long time. She has been quite samy since Reason and even though Version Like Me was progress too, it was still not that good of an album.
But I am glad - and hopeful - about these new experiments.

According to reports, among the people Melanie is collaborating with for her upcoming 8th solo album are singer-songwriter Rae Morris, pop singer Fryars, who previously wrote for Lily Allen, and the one & only Richard "Biff" Stannard, who previously co-wrote with Melanie Goin' Down, Suddenly Monday, Living Without You, The Sea & Rising Sun. Of course, Biff is best known for co-writing & producing the most loved Spice Girls & Kylie Minouge classics.

Wow awesome I wonder when she's gonna release it and I wonder if high heels is really the first single
Posted by: Jay ☆ Jul 11 2019, 07:54 AM
Melanie said she'll release the covers she recorded at some point, but that she's currently working on electronic music & with some younger artists. "Fun collaborations coming up". So I guess we'll be getting new music first?
Posted by: sammy01 Jul 11 2019, 09:22 AM
I hope that covers album never sees the light of day.
Posted by: Blond 2.0 Jul 11 2019, 01:53 PM
I just hope it's soon
Posted by: pippa Jul 30 2019, 07:44 PM
I would welcome collaborations with other artists over an albums of covers album. An album full of covers has little appeal for me.
Posted by: Spiceboy Sep 30 2019, 10:59 PM
So apparently Melanie C said at a concert (Dublin maybe?) that the album is coming before the end of the year... considering there are only 12 more weeks left in the year it's coming pretty soon.
I do think she would be better off waiting until after Christmas when the sales climate goes down again in order to chart higher as she is bound to get lost in the Oct/Nov/Dec sales increases... I think she could manage a top 20 if she releases at the right time and promotes hard.
Posted by: sammy01 Sep 30 2019, 11:41 PM
Let's see if she invests in different formats. A vinyl is an absolute must and I guess cassettes give albums a nice first week boost these days.

Surely she isn’t thinking of releasing in Q4 ?

Version of Me was released in Q4, alongside chart heavyweights such as Lady Gaga, Leonard Cohen, Elvis Presley & Michael Bublé.
Posted by: tommie Oct 1 2019, 10:03 AM
Let's be real here - no matter what time of the year she releases, it'll end up selling maybe 10-15k in total. I don't think she cares about chart positions, though I'm sure she (and her wallet) would like something that sells well.
Posted by: Jay ☆ Oct 1 2019, 10:15 AM
I actually think she does care about the positions! When it comes to the albums at least.
https://youtu.be/J6Z5jL3WY_g she talks about The Sea here from 2:28. I’m sure I remember her saying in an interview that #45 disappointed her but I can’t find it.
I recall that she was very happy about Version of Me getting to #25, but again I can’t find evidence of it at the moment :’) She did draw attention to the fact though, for instance the album’s bio on HMV’s site was edited to reference the chart peak.
Posted by: sammy01 Oct 1 2019, 11:29 AM
She defo said in an interview that she was really disheartened by the sea only going to #45. I'm sure in the same interview she said she couldn't afford or justify TV adverts for it.
If I was her I'd just go all out, multiple formats, online bundles with exclusive stuff. As much advertising as she can get.
Sheryl Crow's latest album got to number 10, she had all sorts of bundles on her store including one with an actual guitar.
Posted by: vibe Oct 1 2019, 12:56 PM
We know she used to be ambitious . I believe now she has woken up. I can remember in one interview years ago she said she would like to play Wembley Stadium.

Maybe she came to her senses and realised that it'd be a better idea to put something out in the slightly less competitive Q1 market...
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Oct 22 2019, 10:16 AM
Q1 is a far better time for her to release as she has some chance of getting some notice.
Posted by: Jay ☆ Oct 22 2019, 09:37 PM
Yeah I agree, I think it would be sensible if she waited for early 2020.
Posted by: Spiceboy Oct 23 2019, 10:55 AM
While I was music quickly, I do think she should wait until early 2020 and release then. Chart positions are not all that but she is likely to sell a similar amount whenever she releases so the higher chart position can soften the blow of low sales some...
Posted by: isanka Oct 24 2019, 12:28 PM
She still missed some opportunity on her bussiness and fan base. If i was her i would do at least release 1 song a year (for fans) and make some bundle/merchandises... I would love her to make for each album a Lyrics book.

like always you said, sometimes annoyed with her releases. Think About It (it took looooooong to release since it premiered) and High Heels (should released before Pride tour).

A long pre-order period would benefit her, but I have the impression that she's still recording the album and just tossing out singles as she feels like it. Maybe I'm wrong.

According to a Popjustice member, Melanie has stated in a recent interview that her upcoming album is called 'Who I Am' (also the name of the single), but I'm not sure which interview it is. I could see it being true though!

I have a feeling Melanie's album won't chart as high as Emma's so swings and roundabouts and all that...
I really hope Melanie is able to push the boat out with her album physical formats. Just releasing 1 CD (and some signed copies) really isn't enough anymore, not when other artists are releasing vinyl records and cassettes too!
Posted by: dancinqueen Mar 19 2020, 03:38 PM
Emma's team did a great job. The different formats really helped. If Melanie's album is at least as good as WIA, I can see it charting higher than Version of Me. A Top20 would be nice.

I don't know why she doesn't get some sort of distribution deal with a major record company similar to what she had in Germany? Red Girl Records can provide financing for making the record and they can finance the copies that can be produced and some promotion and then profits split... Surely she would do just as well as Emma with that type of deal?
I'm hoping for a top 20 album anyway would be wonderful if she could do it

Melanie's live chat on Instagram lasted about 40 minutes. In regards to the album she said she began working on it in early 2019, because she wanted to get some of it done before the Spice Girls tour. She also said that she's still working on it now, including having recorded some vocals today. She mentioned some of her songwriting collaborators, such as Little Boots and Shura. As well as this, she teased that she has an exciting collaboration upcoming that she won't reveal yet.

Mel C did great with ballads on her first couple of albums, such as Northern Star, Feel The Sun, Home, Reason, etc. But since then it has all been a snoozefest, so I am HERE for eletronic ballads as well because at least it would spice things up a little (although judging from Version of Me album, im not keeping my hopes up lol)

Melanie is performing at Greenpeace's online https://actionallareas.org/areas/saturday-line-up/ this weekend on Saturday evening!
There's an https://actionallareas.org/artist/melanie-c/ posted on their website with details from the upcoming album, mentioning a few new tracks : Overload / Escape / Self Love / Nowhere To Run:
QUOTE
Ask Melanie C for her highlights of 2019 and you may need to pull up a seat. There was the Spice Girls’ blockbuster reunion tour of course, a stadium sell-out in early summer that saw city centres crammed with fans in fancy dress and served as a joyous reminder of the spell that ‘90s girl power still casts on pop.
Within days of waving goodbye with three nights at Wembley, Melanie was continent-hopping on a very different, if no less glamorous tour, performing at Pride parades with her new besties, the LGBTQ+ club collective Sink The Pink.
From hosting a float in Sao Paulo – the first international artist ever invited to do so – and performing in New York’s Times Square for World Pride’s closing party to storming everywhere from Stockholm, Santiago, Amsterdam, London, Cologne, Berlin, Brighton, Belfast and Dublin, the tour proved pivotal to Melanie’s future plans.
“Being a Spice Girl again was like a fairytale and I loved every moment,” says Melanie, “but being on that float in Sao Paolo, with three million people out in the streets, was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. It was one of those highs you hope never to come down from.”
In her 22 years as a solo artist, change has been Melanie’s mantra. Over seven albums, she has genre hopped with both abandon - rock, pop, dance, electronica, musical theatre and unusual collaborations included – and intent. “I’m not someone who could keep churning out the same sort of songs,” she says. “I need new challenges to keep myself motivated. My priority has always been performing live and if I’m not excited when I’m on stage, what’s the point?”
The seeds for the Pride tour were sown last year when Melanie fell in love with Sink The Pink at first sight. Invited to play a club night in east London, she was blown away by the crowd’s creativity, inclusivity and old-fashioned sense of fun. “I remember being so nervous leading up to the performance,” she recalls. “I’d been following the club on Instagram, seen how dressed up everyone got and worried that I wouldn’t fit in. How wrong I was. From the second I walked in to the Troxy I felt this buzz and so much love.”
Immediately she signed up for the club’s summer festival, The Mighty Hoopla, where she stole the show performing with a troupe of drag queens dressed as Spice Girls. “That was another of those moments when your life suddenly shifts,” says Melanie. “I’ve been on stage for most of my life and I’ve never had a reaction quite like that or felt so connected to a crowd. When it came to making new music that was the feeling I wanted to capture.”
As plans for both the Spice Girls reunion and the Pride tour were underway, Melanie spent the early months of 2019 before rehearsals for the former began in search of a fresh, Sink The Pink-inspired sound. Keen to work with young co-writers she put feelers out and struck gold straight away. From a first session with Rae Morris and Fryars came High Heels, her glorious, Hi-NRG indebted single, released in November, with a fabulous, fantasy video featuring Melanie as a hairdresser partying with her drag posse.
High Heels was met by widespread acclaim and culminated with a triumphant, quietly subversive performance on The Graham Norton Show by Melanie and her amazing queens. “High Heels was written specifically to perform at the Pride shows,” says Melanie. “I wanted something new to do that would suit the set and also pay tribute to the warmth I felt at my Sink The Pink gigs. The song is about the high, natural or not, that you get on an epic night out with your mates. You’re dancing home, heels in hand because your feet hurt so much, and dancing in to work or wherever the next day because you’ve yet to come down.”
Melanie’s as-yet-untitled, eighth solo album, the follow-up to 2016’s widely-acclaimed Version Of Me, a Top 20 hit here and a No.1 in Brazil, is now well underway. Alongside Rae Morris and Fryars, co-writers include Jonny Lattimer (Ellie Goulding, James Bay, Rag’n’Bone Man), Future Cut (Little Mix, Shakira, Lily Allen), Tom Neville (Dua Lipa, Kesha, Calvin Harris) and Shura. “I love writing with young female artists,” says Melanie. “They’ve taught me to hear sounds differently and be more conversational with my writing.”
Among the tracks completed so far are the slinky, tropical-tinged Overload, a warning to a people getting on your nerves, and Escape, a broken beats-driven track about escaping the treadmill of everyday life. The summery Self Love owes a debt to Donna Summer, while Melanie’s love of Billie Eilish influenced the moody, intimate Nowhere To Run. Melanie and Billie’s admiration for one another was plain to see at this year’s BRIT Awards, where Melanie presented Billie with the Best International Female Solo Artist award after a long embrace.
Melanie launched the album in early 2020, with its defiant first single Who I Am – taking her love of euphoric electronic-pop and confessional lyricism into markedly personal waters. It’s a glittery disco stomper and a mission statement from Melanie C all at once. The loud and proud track was co-written with old ally Biff Stannard (the Spice Girls, Kylie, Little Mix). “It was brilliant being back with Biff,” says Melanie, who last worked with the pop maestro on her 2011 album The Sea. “Not least because he has a beautiful studio in Brighton, right on the sea front. He’s like family and the two of together always get up to mischief.”
Who I Am subsequently went top 10 on iTunes across Europe, South America and the UK, was playlisted at Radio 2, and saw Melanie perform sets from her home studio ranging from The Late Late Show with James Corden and BBC 1’s The One Show to a specialist mix for i-D Magazine. It coincided, in part, with the world entering lockdown: Melanie sought and provided fans with welcome distraction in a series of quarantined live-streams, featuring Q&As on physical and mental wellbeing, the next generation of Girl Power (see a conversation with Rina Sawayama for Crack Magazine), plus some familiar faces (Glynn, Biff, her brother).
The album’s second single, Blame It On Me, followed this May: another blast of unapologetic modern pop from Melanie C, calling out toxicity in a relationship over a life-long love of disco, electronic music, and the sometimes-life-long journey it takes to stand up for yourself.
“One of great things about getting older is you have the courage to care less. In the past perhaps I haven’t wanted to upset apple cart. The song is about certain people who are happy for me to be… how shall I put this?... in my place.
“I’m at a stage in life where I refuse to be in any environment in which I’m expected to be ‘in my place’. I’m not going to change who I am to make other people feel better. Who am I am referring to exactly? I don’t think I should say. It’ll get me in to trouble.”
Last year, Meanie added a new string to her bow when she began DJ’ing.
“I’d always fancied giving it a go, but thought maybe I’m too old to learn a new skill,” she says. “But having worked with lots of electronic producers on Version of Me, I decided to go for it and, oh my God, what a revelation.
From the first lesson I took I absolutely loved it. I used to go clubbing a lot in my late teens and twenties but not so much now. DJing allows me to play the tunes I love, have a dance and I don’t tend up with a hangover!
“I’ve been on stage in so many guises - as a Spice Girl, in musical theatre, as a solo artist. Being on stage as a DJ is such a different experience - the control you have over a room is intoxicating. I’ve learnt so much about how music affects people. I even listen to music differently.
“DJ’ing rekindled my love of dance music and, in retrospect, probably led me to Sink The Pink. I want to slip my new songs in to my DJ sets. And you know what, I better bloody see the floor bouncing!”

I tidied it up but not before others noticed and teased him, then for fun we changed the name of the post to Melanie C - Promising 8th Album. This was thought to be real and spread about oops

CD2: Self Love Into You Touch Me - Rui Da Silva Cover Who I Am (Joe Goddard Remix) Blame It On Me (PBH & Jack Remix) High Heels (Feat. Sink The Pink) (Moto Blanco Remix)
That's probs not that much nowadays but didn't VOM just get a CD?

I caved and bought that gorgeous signed purple vinyl also ordered the 2 cd pack since it was cheaper to do it that way than buy them separate. Will download onto itunes for my ipod (as don't have a CD drive in my laptop) and buy the 1CD in the store since I'm so sad and like to buy the girls CD's from the shops. Then I may be persuaded by a cassette but not sure about that one. Really want that 3 vinyl boxset but I just can't justify £75, if it comes down in price later on I may be persuaded.

It’s a subsidiary store that is associated with Spotify ( https://www.merchbar.com/artists/faqs/merchbar-and-spotify) and is based in the US. They’re a bit more expensive than ordering direct from an artist’s official store.

With all those formats on Merchbar right now, it's honestly killing me to hold off and wait for her official store lol (I'm assuming it'll go live on there after the song premieres on Radio 2). From Melanie’s newsletter:
I’m incredibly excited to announce that my new, self titled album, “Melanie C” will be out on October 2nd. Making it has been a great adventure, challenging me in so many ways. I’m so proud of the journey we’ve been on and I can’t wait for you all to hear it! I’ve had a whole new team on board for this album and It feels like a completely new beginning, in my life and career.
This era maybe here to stay. Team Sporty!
There are loads of great bundles available on my website now. Some are limited edition so get over there and order what you want before it sells out!

Has anyone bought the 3LP book? I really want it but can't really justify £75
Me! I’m now poor
I bought the 3xLP book/2CD Deluxe (Signed)/Cassette bundle, as well as the Violet vinyl (Signed).
All the 3xLP books will be signed & numbered (none available unsigned), and I’m curious about what part of it she’ll sign. The front cover, the front page, or just a separate card? We’ll see!
The 2 extra vinyl included in that book format, which seemingly has each single on each side... that does seem like an odd concept when they’re already on the main album vinyl. I feel like she could have done more with them, like including remixes. I’m not too bothered tbh - I’ve mainly ordered this item because I like the look of it overall.
I couldn’t resist getting the violet vinyl too, so I can own the album in a normal vinyl packaging.
I do feel 😱 at the overall expenditure, of course... but oh well, I’m loving this era so far and this is the first time in Melanie’s career that there’s been the opportunity to buy an array of different album formats. I’m excited!
One thing I’m conflicted about when it comes to my order is whether I really needed 3 signed items, but... I suppose on a self-titled album that doesn’t actually have her name on the front cover, it’ll be nice to have her autograph to represent what it’s called. I hope she does them neatly! I’m wondering whether nearer the time of release I’ll feel like I want unsigned copies too, but I’ll see how I feel. I didn’t end up buying an unsigned copy of Emma’s vinyl, so at least I can be restrained sometimes.
For the time being I’ve not ordered the standard CD or standard black vinyl. If I’m feeling generous in release week, I might buy the standard CD, particularly if it seems like she has a shot at making the Top 10.

I’ve bought the violet vinyl and 2CD bundle. I’m definitely going to buy the standard version from the shop when it is released too, just because I love buying Spice Girls related CDs from the shop. ❤️ I’ve oohed and aahed about the cassette I might be persuaded closer to the time or in release week.

Anyone think this might have a chance of Top 10?
I don't dare to dream sales will be higher in October, but it is the very beginning of October so not as high... If she had released it on the back of Blame it on me these last few weeks I would have been really confident in her achieving top 10. I'm just hoping she get's her highest peak since Reason, Top 20 would be brilliant, Top 10 would be amazing. I really hope she does, she truly deserves to be the Spice Girl with the most top 10 albums after all the effort she has put into her career.
Posted by: Liam.k. Jul 30 2020, 01:30 PM
I think a Top 20 placing is pretty much guaranteed. It'll chart the w/e/ 15th October - for the comparative chart in 2019, the #20 sold 3.5k and, with all things considered, it would be very underwhelming if it didn't even clear that. The #10 sold 6.6k and I think Mel could achieve that. I mean, Emma Bunton did with her last album.
Posted by: Andrew. Jul 30 2020, 01:39 PM
Yeah Emma managed 6.6k and reading through the thread I recall a few fans being put off buying by the fact it was mostly covers? Melanie C's singles have done better than Emma's as well. I know the market has declined even more since then but I'd be surprised if she didn't at least do Louise numbers, and looking at album sales recently that should be enough top 10.
Posted by: Jay Something Jul 30 2020, 01:54 PM
Watch her get to #11 like Emma and Louise
I would certainly be happy with Melanie charting anywhere in the Top 20 and of course Top 10 would be the cherry on the cake.

She deserves a top5 at least. Not only she’s worked hard all this time, but she’s honestly the only Spice who really cares about music and the only one really talented.
Nice to see the album up for preorder on different sites. Interestingly recordstore has a signed black vinyl on sale as an exclusive!

Why? I’ve supported most of the Girls during their solo careers, aka I’ve spent my money to buy their records. Emma and Mel B being my other faves.
But why not being honest? Mel B is lazy AF, and this bothers me. Emma is so average with her music and lacks of personality. Victoria is doing something different, where she’s so talented. Geri can’t sing or dance.
Let’s say - and I correct myself - they’re all talented in different fields, but when it comes to music, and it’s my opinion, the only one I can take seriously is Melanie C.

I wish she put the original version of High Heels on and not the remix. There was probably room for both!!

Maz was joking
I actually agree with you in regards to her being the only one who deserves it the other girls are all talented in different way but give up way too easily. Melanie is the only one who has persevered and is truly passionate about being a singer.

Mel is the only one who has really persevered with her solo career so id love her to get that 3rd top 10 album, but even a good top 20 would be good for her,

Further to this - Version of Me sold 4,084 copies to reach #25, which looking back seems quite impressive given that physically it only had one CD. So I would be very surprised if she sold less than that with her new album, considering all the formats on sale this time - as well as the increase in airplay support and there seeming to be more goodwill towards Melanie C as an artist these days!
In the comparative chart last year, 4,084 would have been enough for her to chart at #16. The Sea sold 3,735 in its first week and that would have seen her chart at #17. So I think you're right that Top 20 is guaranteed at the very least this time.

Out of interest what would Beautiful Intentions and This Time’s sales have seen her at last year???

8,970 - Beautiful Intentions (would have been #7)
Unfortunately we never found out This Time's sales, they were estimated as 4,500 - enough for #16!
I was just about to post this. She is really going for it isn't she!

I'm holding off ordering anything, I'm not desperate for this album and it seems like the bundles won't sell out. There will be an inevitable black Friday or half price sale in November so I just have to keep restraint.
The blue vinyl looks beautiful though that is a tempter.

I know that would be the only reason to get it first week. I'll stream it I just don't want to pay silly money for it.
I do think she has gone a bit heavy on the vinyls, they are lovely items but most artists who want to scam multiple sales from their fans these days do it through multiple cassettes. It really helped Emma having 2, she actually finished up having the 13th best selling cassette of last year I think. There has been a lot of number 1 albums this year where basically cassettes got the artists there. They are so much cheaper than vinyls so fans tend to snap them up more.
Posted by: Jay Something Jul 31 2020, 10:47 PM
Vinyl (Black - Signed) Vinyl (Black - Unsigned) Vinyl (Violet - Signed) Vinyl (Violet - Unsigned) Vinyl (Transparent Blue) 3xVinyl (Deluxe Book - Signed and Numbered)
I think for the most part her fans will have to choose which one or maybe two they find the most appealing. I think only the most hardcore of collectors would order it all.
A lot of artists offer a few different vinyl colours (for example Kylie’s new one is on black, clear, blue and turquoise); it’ll be interesting to see if Melanie actually manages to sell all these. It definitely shows a lot of confidence.
I would agree that ideally Melanie would have had at least one more cassette (and priced cheaper than £9).
Fair play to Melanie and her team for realising multiple formats is how you do album releases nowadays, I just hope she sells a decent amount!
Also Sammy if you don’t at least get a CD in release week, we’re banning you xxx

Only the deluxe version and the blue vinyl come up for me, after Stages and Version of me.
Including this small description of the album’s themes & the song Overload:
Over the next 35 minutes, she sings about letting go of old hang-ups, having nothing left to hide and refusing to conform to expectations. "I don't want to be your acceptable version of me," goes the refrain of roller-disco jam Overload.

Based on that tiny snippet of lyrics, it seems her career may have come full circle. Back on Reason, Positively Somewhere sounded like her defiantly shedding her pop roots. Now...maybe she's defiantly reclaiming her pop roots? I mean. I acknowledge I'm just assuming that over very few lyrics here. The song could be about anything.
I'm so on board with her current direction, though. Once the day arrives she can actually perform on stage again, I wonder what her show could look like? Would she be open to possibly incorporating some choreography? She did some in her Sink the Pink shows. This album seems pointed in the same direction.
Personally, I'd love a show that darts to all her extremes. Have her get up there and do Goin Down...AND Say You'll Be There...AND Never Be the Same Again...AND the new dancey stuff...AND a big show tune (but just one, really...let's not get crazy). Just throw the iamspamspamamisink at it. I'd be up for it.

Here is a recent interview Melanie did in which she gives new insights on the album:

So it seems the next single will be either Overload or Fearless.
Posted by: sammy01 Aug 20 2020, 09:18 PM
10 tracks is a bit measly when it is looking likely she will release 4 before the album. It will be only 6 new songs to hear upon release. Interesting strategy though.

Good Enough and End Of Everything stand out.
But I can’t see myself skipping any song !!

Good Enough sounds MASSIVE!
Posted by: Piers Sep 6 2020, 09:18 PM
Just listened to the clips. Yeah. I really, really like all of this.
Since I've only JUST heard it all, I hesitate to make bold statements...but...I will anyway. I think it's the most consistently strong album she has. Northern Star has some higher highs...but all of this towers over the lower lows of NS (hey If That Were Me). I also adore Think About It, Stupid Game, and a few others from The Sea, but to my ears...she's finally unleashed a set of songs without a single clunker.
I agree with the above...Good Enough is the standout for me too. It's fab. I also really like Overload.
Posted by: dancinqueen Sep 6 2020, 09:48 PM
Wow. She lost me with Reason, she almost got me back with Version Of Me. Now we’re talking. This is a good record and I’m here for it! Overload is great but the greatest to me is Fearless. I can see her and Nadia in a video celebrating women of all kind and making the headlines with that. Who I Am is the best single in years. Love Nowhere To Run, I can her a bit of Eilish here. She deserves at least a top10, hard but not impossible if she promotes the right songs with the right videos.
Posted by: Mr.X Sep 6 2020, 10:57 PM
Im so excited!! I wont listen to the clips, but reading people's reactions makes me excited as it seems like she has finally departed from the middle of the road takes on her music and albums as a whole!!
Its the most excited ive been since NS, after loosing me with Reason.

I listened to the preview again and... I can’t wait to get my vinyl!
Who I Am, Blame It On Me, In And Out Of Love are amazing single choices (you’ve learnt, Mel!)
Stands out: Fearless, Overload, Nowhere To Run
Good Enough, Escape, Here I Am, End Of Everything are great album tracks.
It seems we have no fillers this time. I hope the deluxe 2nd CD is as good as this one.

If the album charts lower than top 20 il be shocked, there is a huge part of me that thinks it can go top 10.
Posted by: Rob90 Sep 16 2020, 08:31 AM
I still think top 10 it's a busy week she is releasing in but I can't see much competition from the previous week. Many of the top ten regulars like taylor,Lewis, dua, harry styles are shifting just over5k or less which I am confident she can beat.
Posted by: dancinqueen Sep 16 2020, 08:53 AM
It’s hard. She’s happy, we got new music. As long as she’s ok with the outcome, who cares? Top10 or Top40 makes no difference. Unless you’re Tay Tay or Adele, no one sells records anymore. That’s why we see a lot of #1s having a huge drop the week after. If I were her I would make sure to work hard to produce more music like this. Roisin Murphy, Jessie Ware and many others don’t sell as much as they should but they still make records. So, again, who cares where she charts. People are waiting to see her failing, also in this forum.

I am very glad with this new direction to be honest.
It's the best and most consistently good music she has put out since NS, so I am not complaing. Is it perfect? No. WIll it set the charts alight? No way. But we should cherish this because it's a very good development and we have a lot to chew on over the next year or so, including more promo and a tour!
I like this song, very much. Agree with dancingqueen about her working with people like Roisin Murphy and Jessie Ware! That would be A DREAM!!!

Both Roisin Murphy and Jessie Ware showed their love during this era. It’s so good as they’re some of my fave artists. British music is the best, love the authenticity and work ethic of British artists, and still don’t get why they don’t have the same recognition as US singers. She really has picked an awful week to release, Oasis 'What's the story morning glory' has a 25th anniversary 2 disc silver vinyl released on the 2nd. Oasis fans are crazy and it is #1 on Amazon vinyl bestsellers and 18 on the cd & vinyls bestsellers list already and it is still 4 days to release.
With their good streaming numbers and no doubt press from the anniversary I'd be shocked if it doesn't go top 10 and do 8k to 10k.

I'll definitely wait to hear Overload until the album's release, only 4 days to go!
It would be so typical if her release week ends up being highly competitive. The sales this week were quite low, between 4k to 5k needed for #6 - #10...
1 Pop Smoke 9,665 331 9,334 (138 physical, 193 downloads) 2 Ava Max 8,306 3 Potter Payper 7,492 4 Yusuf / Cat Stevens 7,003 5 Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets 6,577 6 Lewis Capaldi 4,792 7 Taylor Swift 4,789 8 Juice WRLD 4,780 9 Run The Jewels 4,591 10 Harry Styles 4,280
... but in Melanie's week there's new releases from Amanda Holden ( ), Bon Jovi, BLACKPINK, Queen (a live album)...
Posted by: Andrew. Sep 28 2020, 08:17 PM
Bon Jovi, BLACKPINK and Queen will definitely beat her, they all might actually but are people really gonna buy Amanda Holden's Covers album Looking at last week's sales she'd probably be at least #6 on that week, I can honestly see a #12 debut
Posted by: Sideout Sep 28 2020, 08:18 PM
Fingers crossed she manages to sneak in the top 10. She deserves it.
Posted by: sammy01 Sep 28 2020, 08:20 PM
It is definitely a strong week competition wise, I could imagine Amanda Holden being one of those bizarre albums that does really well. Alexander Armstrong, who presents pointless, out of nowhere got a gold selling album a few years ago.
Posted by: dancinqueen Sep 28 2020, 08:44 PM
Top20 wouldn't be bad at all to me 👀 fingers crossed she doesn't chart any lower
Website sales will be farrrrr more important for Melanie and BLACKPINK, scream at Amanda being so high Top 20 would still be great I guess given Mel’s missed the top 50 before!
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Sep 28 2020, 11:29 PM
Totally agree, Mel would have been safely top 10 this week so its a shame she didnt release a week earlier, next week is far more competitive but hopefully she can get a top 10.

I don’t get why she didn’t look at competition and just move it forwards a week???
Posted by: WhoOdyssey Sep 29 2020, 07:09 AM
Nothing But Thieves will also be looking at a 15k+ opening, and there's also Sufjan Stevens' physical released and Slipknot's Corey Taylor is releasing his debut album
Just a week later and there's very few big releases!

Yes her strongest album to date, its coherent and the songs are all good, only 2 weak songs imo overall which is amazing! I'm loving "Good Enough" should def be the next single. I hope she lands that top 10 spot because she deserves it.
Posted by: dromeda Oct 2 2020, 12:26 PM
Her best album since Northern Star. ALL songs are good and fun to listen/dance. Fingers cross she will get the attention it deserves! ( Good Enough must be the next single, btw)
Posted by: Andrew. Oct 2 2020, 12:27 PM
'Enough' and 'End Of Everything' are the only ones I'm not feeling but the former sounds like it could grow already, what an album Pretty much everything else is a highlight tbh, she really did that. It's all so dancey and upbeat, the kind of album I (most of us tbh) really need right now. I wish the Deluxe was on streaming :/
My Violet LP still hasn't shipped though.

I just wanted to ask if anyone here is happy to share their Melanie C albums on their Instagram stories by tagging “SpiceGirlsNet” and using the hashtag #MelanieCAlbum that would be amazing.
Would love to see your cds, cassettes, bundles, vinyls etc
Additionally if anyone has bought multiple copies or is playing the album on their record player that would also be great to see 😊👍
Many thanks and happy Melanie C album day 🎧🤍🎤

Has anyone found a way to listen to the CD2 tracks online/digitally? I have no CD reader in my flat or macBook and I'd like to listen to the whole thing at once tonight

Nice work, Melanie! Finally she is back on her game, after many years of middle of the road outputs.
You definitly gotta admire her for her tenacy as well as her talent. Good on her to release this album so far into her career. It feels fresh and current, which is good.
Im gonna attempt an initial, first couple of listens type of review. THE GOOD
I think the music across the album so far is really good and fresh for Melanie. She has really listened to her instincts as an artist and it has paid off. Some tracks are really great, such as Who I Am, Blame It On Me, Good Enough, Nowhere To Run and In And Out Of Love. She definitely picked the best overall songs for the initial run of singles! For me, this is the first time she put out a great run of singles since NS-NBTSA-ITTY, and it pays off.
End of Everything is good! Not her best, and definitely the most 'old Mel' song of the album, but it's a good song I think! She's had better ballads, but this is a nice closer to the album too.
Overload hits differently in the context of the album, and I have a new found appreciation for it. It's a BOP! The lyrics in the verses and middle 8 are still pish though
The album as a whole sounds cohesive without sounding boring at the same time, and its the most fun she clearly is having in a long time. Good on her! Im stanning again, after not caring much for 2 decades!
The promotion has also been steller, with some good performances and it finally feels like there is a genuine buzz around her again.
Blame It On Me has really grown on me recently and I think it only took me this long because of the video, which is fun but a bit of a missmatch with the song unfortunately. But separating the two, it's definitely a great song, on par with Who I Am and some of her best. Great single too and she does it well live! Definitely her best single so far this era.
THE JUST OK
Dont think there is a BAD song in here, but I could live without Fearless, Here I Am or Escape. Definitely the most forgetable songs. Cant quite understand why they went with Fearless as a single, as it's just a bit of a nothing song. Two great artists, but it doesnt work unfortunately.
Here I Am feels a bit overtly dramatic to the point of not sounding so sincere... And I cant remember how Escape goes (had to look it up cos I couldnt remember its title lol).
Across the album, some of the lyrics are just a bit too terrible. It's the main thing that bugs me about Mel's songs. Sometimes she is really on it and then a massively clunky lyric or whole verse just ruins it all ah. I cant quite pinpoint exactly how to say this, but think it's to do with how sometimes thythm of the lyric against the song doesnt quite match, and it sounds forced. Other times, it's the fact that the lyric is descriptive instead of inviting you to interpret what it might mean...
And then there's Fearless which is a song that tries to be empowering but it is quite empty of content throughout... Nadia is a great rapper, so its a shame her rap and ad libs are so middle of the road. And most of the lyrics from Melanie could have been taken out of a fridge magnate collection.
That's it! I would give it a 7 out of 10.
Get rid of chuncky lyrics and some of the middle of the road tracks and it would have been a solid 9! Hopefully she continues to improve this way cos im here for it

Great to see all these positive reviews from you all! Believe it or not I've still not got around to having my first play of the album yet, but I will tonight!
Melanie was on The One Show earlier, a very nice interview. There was a segment with her surprising fans via video link, of course the album and her tour were discussed, and they aired a performance of In and Out of Love that they filmed on the same day as her Live stream. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000n20w/the-one-show-02102020

It's lovely to see Bryan supporting Melanie after all these years!
That's a great write up from HMV. A lot of the reviews are saying that it's her best album yet, hopefully it'll sway some people into checking it out!
recordstore.co.uk have declared that 'Melanie C' is their album of the week:
QUOTE
Melanie C - Melanie C Well, if 2020's the year of the unpredictable, it figures that we're giving our Album of the Week to a Spice Girl. Quite simply, this is Mel C's best work in decades. Music for the critically acclaimed dancefloor, to the tune of Robyn and Roisin Murphy - an ode to self-love inspired by a new generation of girl power. In the words of the Independent: "by the time the record's finished, you feel like Melanie C's bought a record of shots, dragged you onto the dance floor and then sat down with you on the pavement for a proper heart to hear. May she party on and on."

Just listened and phew, what a great album! Hugely consistent and not a single dud moment? Great highs and a really solid album from start to finish. Going to give it a lot more time and repeated listens and see if it continues to grow further, but on one listen I am v impressed
Posted by: Alberto! Oct 3 2020, 02:52 PM
I've listened to the (standard) album quite a few times now (and at different levels of drunkenness =p) and I regret to say that this is following her alternation of one great/one meh album trend for me =( As in NS, BI, TS, VOM being the amazing ones, and R, TT, S and now MC not doing much for me.
Decent tracks: the 4 singles, Good Enough, Here I Am and Nowhere To Run (but none standing out other than WIA) Song I'm struggling to listen to again: Escape, Overload, End Of Everything, High Heels RMX
(Despite owning the deluxe version I still haven't had found a way to listen to the bonus CD so can't talk about those 3 songs yet.)
So it's a bit of a 6/10 for me. As I've over listened to first three singles, it leaves me with 4 songs to enjoy, but again nothing I'm dying to go back to unfortunately. This sounds a bit like VOM but one level down for me, both in terms of originality and lyrics.
Posted by: sammy01 Oct 3 2020, 02:58 PM
I've listened to it a couple of times through now (standard not deluxe) and to me it is the epitome and 3 killer tracks the rest filler.
Basically Who I am, Blame it on me and In and out of love are the best songs on the album, the rest ranges from ok (overload, good enough) to awful (fearless).
I don't see any potential singles left on the album. At least it won't be one of those albums we think why didn't she release X song like Burn from The sea.
Posted by: Voodoo Oct 3 2020, 03:06 PM
I see several potential singles left on the album: Good Enough, Here I Am, Overload. They would all sound great on the radio.

The album must’ve been dispatched after all as it’s just came!! The Violet is gorgeous
Posted by: dancinqueen Oct 3 2020, 03:34 PM
I fell in love with Nowhere To Run and Here I Am. The five singles are equally amazing. Not a ballad person, but I enjoy End Of Everything. I don’t skip but I can say Good Enough and Escape are my least faves. It’s her best album, second only to Northern Star. And the reviews and love from the public are showing.
Posted by: Lukuzz Oct 3 2020, 03:35 PM

Into you is the best song, i don't know why she put it on cd2
Posted by: dancinqueen Oct 3 2020, 04:14 PM
I loved the live version of Into You. In one of her last interviews she hinted there will be more videos. Fingers crossed it’s this one or Nowhere To Run.
Posted by: JosephStyles Oct 3 2020, 07:56 PM
SUCH a good album - not a single dud? I think it could well be her strongest album (and I'm not saying that impulsively, I've only heard each of them once or twice so far and that was this year! ). Melanie's found a sound that really works for her and it's really cohesive. Not heard the deluxe tracks yet but my CD came today and I can't wait to hear them too!
Posted by: sammy01 Oct 3 2020, 09:14 PM
Whatever happens with this era she has added Who I am to her top tier of songs. Hopefully it is a staple of her shows and whatever she does from now on.
Posted by: Blond 2.0 Oct 3 2020, 10:55 PM
The album is fantastic Good enough is a banger
Posted by: Sideout Oct 3 2020, 11:03 PM
A very solid album. The only song I'm not really feeling is Escape. Overload and Good Enough deserve music videos.
Posted by: HausofGhibli Oct 4 2020, 01:03 PM

This is probably her best reviewed album since NS, and for once the big guns are supporting her too, inc The Guardian, Independent, Evening Standard, Metro, etc. Good on her!

On the other hand I've lived with all of these albums since their release dates, but nevertheless this new album has been really instant for me, more so than most of her other albums! I don't think she'll ever be able to top Northern Star for me (sometimes I wonder whether I feel that way partly because of the sentimentality I have towards that album), but with time I could see this being my second favourite by her.

The album currently has a Metacritic score of 63/100, based on 4 reviews (the reviews taken into account - musicOMH.com [70], Clash Music [60], The Independent [60] and NME [60]). So far that indicates "generally favorable reviews".
There's a couple of reviews that haven't been included in the Metacritic score yet, but they should be soon. The Guardian gave it 4/5, which will provide a score of 80, while AllMusic have given it 4.5, i.e. a score of 90. That would improve her score to 70/100!
Other reviews - I don't think Metacritic take these into account, but I could be wrong:
4.5/5 - Albumism - https://www.albumism.com/reviews/melanie-c-melanie-c 4/5 - Evening Standard - https://www.standard.co.uk/go/london/music/melanie-c-album-review-a4561721.html 4/5 - Metro - https://www.metro.news/album-review-melanie-c-melanie-c/2166234/ 4/5 - Cryptic Rock - https://crypticrock.com/melanie-c-melanie-c-album-review/ 6/10 - Riff Magazine - https://riffmagazine.com/album-reviews/melanie-c/
I'm so pleased that she's received a lot of great reviews

I though it's nice from an independant artist to have so many exposure on the shop. But you don't see what's the difference between the Standar and the deluxe version from the back of the CD.

Last Wednesday I bought another signed CD from Amazon, because I wanted to help a bit more with her chart placement, however it didn't arrive until today! So I'm not sure if it'll count towards last week or this week.
Anyway, the copy I received today has the inner booklet signed, rather than the front cover of the album! The first signed CD I bought was signed on the front. It's nice to own a slightly different version of it.
Overall I have:
Standard CD - Signed Cover Standard CD - Signed Booklet Deluxe CD - Signed Cover Violet Vinyl - Signed Cover (it was brought to my attention on Spice Circle that there aren't actually any copies of this unsigned, even though that was originally a purchase option!) Cassette
~~~
I really hope there's an eventual plan to release the Deluxe CD on streaming and downloads. Into You in particular deserves wider availability!
I would have thought it would be a bit more worldwide too partly because Emma sold 20k worldwide of MHP (12k of that in U.K. so 8k more across world) and that didn’t chart anywhere outside of the U.K. did it? Melanie has at least charted on Irish, German, Australian, Swiss and US charts (albeit low) so she must have sold more copies than MHP managed worldwide?
From her store? They have been really bad, honestly. They are probably cheap, but damn it what a mess they have made so far.
Im in Portugal and my order apparently shipped on the 5th October. Still waiting for arrival. When I asked them yesterday, they didnt even reply, just got a notification again saying it had shipped on the 5th and arrival is TBC. I asume I have to wait but if it doesnt arrive soon, im gonna kick off.
Posted by: Mr.X Oct 16 2020, 02:48 PM
OK my order has finally arrived and I am not impressed at all.
The book is lovely and the vinyls too but the quality of the art work is terrible across the board. The cardboard it is made of is really low quality and arrived a bit damaged as a consequence, both the book and the Delux packages are dented and that is just annoying. Some of the dented bits are INSIDE of the pages of the book...
Personally, not sure the book is worth the money it cost, tbh... It's a bit of a pisstake, I thought it was going to have much more pictures/text but it is mostly just a re-hash of the booklet from the cds... The only value is the vinyls which is lovely, but the whole thing is too expensive for its own content... No wonder it wasnt a big seller at all..
The final moan is the artwork itself. I like that picture of the multiple Mels as the book cover. But overall? Not a fan of it as the main cover of this release. It looks a bit meh in print actually... And I am missing some text to go along with it.
Thank god the music and videos have been great this era though, that really balances it out...
Posted by: sammy01 Oct 16 2020, 03:32 PM
The packaging is very cheap, the card is so thin I don't see how it won't get damaged if used and played often.
Hi, long time lurker but had to sign up to ask this!
Has anyone had any skipping issues with their violet vinyl? Got mine today and it skips considerably on Who I Am, Blame It On Me, Fearless etc - didn't keep playing as I assume it does it for most tracks.
I tested out other records and they all played fine on my turntable, so I assume it's an issue with the violet vinyl - I assume replacements won't be available?
Thats awful Did you clean your vinyl? If so, and it is not an issue with dirt, then you should complain to the company and demand a new one be sent to you.
Honestly, the amount of issues everywhere with these products...
Welcome to the forum! Sorry about your vinyl My copy of it plays fine, but I remember someone on Popjustice mentioned a couple of weeks ago that their copy skipped too. I think you should complain to the store, like Mr.X suggests. Hopefully they have replacements to send, but if not hopefully you can get a refund.
After listening several times I came to the conclusion... the perfect tracklist should be this one:
1- Who I Am 2- Blame It On Me 3- Good Enough 4- Escape 5- In And Out Of Love 6- Overload 7- Fearless 8- Here I Am 9- Nowhere To Run 10- Into You 11- End Of Everything
What passed in her mind about not including Into You in the standard version?
With the streaming era an artist builds towards an album release. It's better to release 3 singles before the album and one afterwards. Streaming doesn't allow for multiple singles after the album release.
This is true. And mostly, any post-album release single usually comes with added incentives such as new features, or it is released in remix format. Would LOVE IT if Melanie would release a new edit of a song like Overload or Good Enough. But honestly she probably will go with Into You which is not available to stream yet so could be used for that effect I guess!! Plus it is probably her best bet right now at a 'hit'
Posted by: sammy01 Oct 21 2020, 01:21 PM
But she isn't a streaming artist or looking for single chart success. What she really needs right now is a single getting airplay on radio 2 so we can see those casual downloads she was getting during Blame it on me's high airplay to be downloading the album or ordering it on Amazon now.
Her streaming rise has done nothing for her sales, she will still end up doing her usual 12k. She should have saved at least In and out of love if not 2 singles for post album release.
Sales? It's 2020. It's all about streaming. The majority of Melanie's fan base hasn't adapted to streaming. This is hurting Melanie's Spotify algorithm, which prevents her from being added to any Spotify playlists.
At the end of the day it's all about touring. Melanie not being exposed to a younger generation on Spotify playlists will keep her fan base stagnet. Melanie can only do a limited amount of tour dates with a small fan base.
True, but her team is already working on that. It takes time. We moved from 500,000 listeners before the album launch to 1,200,000 now.
But the way, a small official Spotify Playlist with Alicia Keys, Travis and more. Melanie on the cover:
She isn't and won't ever be a streaming artist. 1.2m monthly listeners is low, very very low. Her fanbase does stream her music it is just to make any impact on streaming the general public need to be streaming your music or you need a massive fan Base.
I think we can safely assume that over this era she did improve her streams a lot, which is nice for an act of her stature and legacy. Not many of her contemporaries can say the same.
Surely this era is a success in comparison to her previous 4 eras, and you can see a drastic improvement in the public perception AND on the streaming front. So I would say it is totally possible for her to continue to build on it as she continues her career.
Will it ever reach Northern Star peaks of success? Nope. Does it matter? Not really.
Streaming numbers are quite healthy for an act like hers. Let's hope it continues to improve.
Amanda Holden did more streaming sales first week than Melanie C and her album was covers and aimed at a demographic that is your grandma. I don't think you guys get how low Mel's streaming truly is.
Why being always so negative? We will NEVER get any other new Spice music bar Melanie C, let’s celebrate and be happy about it. We have many great artists who have zero to small following on Spotify. Her team is working on it, it’s not that easy. If 1,200,000 monthly listeners is nothing, Emma or Katie Melua should never record anything at all?
This era has been successful so far by Miss C standards. And she’s not even touring yet!
You say her number are low like there’s nothing else to do and she needs to give up. Girl, it won’t happen 😂 as no new Spice music will never happen whether she’s successful or not.
Guys, do you realize we're in 2020 and the music scene has changed drastically in 20 years?! The change is inevitable.
She literally changed her A&R and look how things have changed for her commercially!
She's the only Spice Girl to achieve 3 top UK albums in UK. That's literally iconic.
What more could a "Spice Girls" fan ask for?
When I saw her in top 10 for the first time in 17 years I literally gay gasped! She has achieved so much as a solo artist!
I think people are being a bit harsh to Sammy in here tbh, at no point does he say that "Melanie should give up recording" or "Melanie hasn't made any improvement" simply that the bulk of her sales come from physical sales and if she wants to keep selling she needs to be promoted by radio 2 to keep those album sales ticking along. A lot of people are putting words into his mouth in this thread.
I never said she will be a streaming artist, but she has to try and adapt with the times in order to grow her fan base. Relying on Radio 2 airplay to get a few casual album sales is not a sustainable strategy in 2020. Selling 10,000 - 12,000 copies in total of an album is nothing.
Especially when you're an independent artist who has to pay for everything out of your own pocket. The bottom line is Melanie is not going to grow her fan base by using old music industry strategies from the 90's.
This harsh truth tho...
I don't think there's much she can do at this point. I'm sure she's okay with the position she's in her career right now. It's a privilige to have a moderate solo career and be a part of something legendary. I'm sure this has been disscussed and stated millions times before but yeah, she's super lucky to have this kinda dedicated fan base.
Exactly she is pushing 50 and they have done a similar album release strategy to say Little Mix.
4 pre album videos/singles was a complete waste imo, the album should have gone up for pre-order when Who I am was released and released when BIOM was released. I'm sure she would have still scored a top 10 due to the million formats and then would have had the radio 2 airplay of IAOOL and Overload (both with videos, Fearless should never have even made the album). Then her biggest promotion to the demographic who buy cd albums would be at full use to try and sell more albums after the initial fan purchases on release week.
Jay has posted showing that radio 2 drop her singles from being played the moment they leave the playlist so those singles exposure and airplay really needs to coincide with the album being for sale.
For anyone wondering, I contacted the Mel C Online Store for a replacement - apparently I'll be sent another violet signed vinyl. I won't jump the gun until I see it in my hands!
Ah lovely, such a shame it wasn't this week to try help keep the album in the top 200, but every sale helps at this stage and this will help to push more sales of the album.
Posted by: pippa Oct 24 2020, 04:43 PM
That should attract some sales.
I have to confess I've never watched his show all through just the odd performance from it on YouTube. I thought he just had people on to sing.
The normal version must be out of stock and need restocking. The deluxe and the vinyl are still there.
Sometimes 3rd party sellers under cut Amazon on price and then appear as the main purchase option. Usually Amazon respond by cut their price too.
2020's been a funny year. We didn't think we'd be playing a Spice Girl's solo album this much, but Mel C's eponymous LP is a manifesto for self-care - critically-acclaimed, tropical-tinged pop to the tune of Róisín Murphy and Robyn.
True dat! And even if it was Botox, who cares. Tori Amos looks like a new person because of botox, but if she’s happy why people should go on social media and offend her
Posted by: sammy01 Nov 14 2020, 03:31 PM
I didn't comment on how she looks I just saw she was actually trending on twitter and it was mostly about her face.
She obviously gets work done, it tends to look super obvious with Mel as she doesn't get botox and her lips done as often as say Emma so it is noticeable when she does. Having seen some pics she has evidently had them done again very recently. It will settle down though and look more normal in a couple of weeks.
There is no point denying she has these things done, Emma, Victoria and Mel B do too. Geri did but I think she has decided to stop now.
Last time she was with Sink the Pink at Graham Norton you did the same. You popped up and say out of nowhere: people are trashing her on Twitter.
Of course every time for the sake of pointing out people don’t like her.
Boy/girl, you got a problem. As I said, this hating her won’t change things. Us fans will get Melanie new music even if she only sells Teo copies, you’ll never get any Spice new music.
Enjoy! B-sides are b-sides for a reason.
And to the ones who don’t understand, I wish Denden was still available to show you how Sammy used to trash Melanie in a way that was anything but girl power.
It is rare for Mel C to trend on twitter so when I looked I saw the reason. You can call me names all you like it won't change she has had work done it was noticeable and a lot of people commented on it. Discussing that doesn't mean I agree but it isn't a crime or bad thing to acknowledge it.
The album is currently #36 on iTunes just goes to show every bit of promo helps shift a few copies. Hopefully she should go over the 10k mark very soon, I hope she continues to promote here and there over the next year and make this become her biggest seller since This Time.
By the way, I’m glad many women on Twitter even non-fans came in support with Mel. This thing happened before with Mel B. And for Geri they did the same but contradicting themselves and pointing out how she ‘looked’ old (as Geri has no Botox) I’m disgusted in a way that hurts. If it was my mother, a friend or someone I love, I would be so sad about it. Not that I’m not atm.
Glad that at least is pushing the album a little
Posted by: sammy01 Nov 14 2020, 07:25 PM
Twitter can be very harsh. I'm sure Mel is used to it though and hopefully doesn't even bother reading it.
It is interesting reading comments though sometimes to gauge what the public thinks.
I think it should pass this week tbh. She only needs to sell less than 300 copies.
As for the whole botox/injections thing... obviously Mel C is no stranger to it and yeah, it tends to look a bit wonky when she has her, er, "refills" done - luckily it quickly tends to settle. I haven't seen her interview on Saturday K!tchen, but it might be what people reacted at. But as has been said - none of the girls are strangers to having a bit of work done; no shame in it, if I was constantly in the public eye I'd probably do something too.
