It’s nice enough and the existing fanbase will love it, but anybody new they might have gained with Hello My Love probably won’t take to it much.
It’s essentially just like any of their non cover ballads from 1999-2002, even down to the same production and the ‘up off the stools’ key change. It’s instant and with a big melody, like all of their big ballads were, but I don’t see this formula working in 2019 like it did 20 years ago. |

I can't understand some members here fearing that non-Westlifers would probably not like it. So what? if you're so anxious about public backlash you could easily choose Calvin
Harris as your favorite musician. If he release anything even less than 10 seconds it would be on top of the charts. So why you call yourself fan in first place? Hello My Loved released and it was your typical "modern" song and you're bragging about it like the song was top 5 for 10 weeks. I'm so sick of it. You can be a fan of Grande or Drake of this world and I bet that you won't be disappointed because every songs of them would be mega-hit. Better Man is not a masterpiece but it's exactly the kind of song that made me fan of the lads. I really like this song and I'm sure it will be in top 5-8 next Friday. It reminds me a lot about their earliest releases from first album which they love the most among all their albums. They said many times that the first album is their favorite so please stop it. HML was your modern song and it spent many weeks at wrong ends of top 40 as a so called "comeback single". |

Hello My Love was a hit. Whether you continue to deny it or not. The charts are SO MUCH different now to what you're used to. The fact a Westlife single has spent 9 weeks in the top 40 in the streaming era and managed to do ok on Spotify themselves - a lot higher than Cheryl Cole managed (who was more "relevant" than them) for example, shows that there is demand of some sort for them.
They're definitely targetting and aiming for huge album numbers rather than singles success nowadays. Their album should be one of the biggest Q4 releases this year. 9 weeks top 40 is a big deal, especially for vintage act like Westlife, where many people didn't think it would trouble the top 40 in this streaming age. You're really downplaying what is a massive achievement for them. |

It is amazing that you're comparing Cheryl to Westlife. Cheryl is nothing in the world of music. We're talking about act with 7 UK no.1 albums, 14 no.1 singles and above them are just
Robbie Williams, Coldplay and Take That in 21st century in terms of selling albums. Cheryl entire catalog was less than half of one ordinary Westlife album. Westlife had the power to beat Oasis, U2 and The Beatles in battle of the bands despite campaign against them all over the UK. So please compare Cheryl to the likes of Tulisa or Rita Ora. |
