Both Slimane and this song are great choices - can't think of any other "first declared" entry in recent years that's matched this!

Both Slimane and this song are great choices - can't think of any other "first declared" entry in recent years that's matched this! stealing the list from reddit: 2014 - Ukraine | Mariya Yaremchuk - Tick-Tock - Dec 21st, 2013 2015 - North Macedonia | Daniel Kajmakoski - Autumn Leaves* - Nov 12th, 2014 2016 - Albania | Eneda Tarifa - Fairytale* - Dec 27th, 2015 2017 - Albania | Lindita - World* - Dec 23rd, 2016 2018 - Albania | Eugent Bushpepa - Mall - Dec 23rd, 2017 2019 - Albania | Jonda Maliqi - Ktheju tokės - Dec 22nd, 2018 2020 - Albania | Arilena Ara - Fall From the Sky* - Dec 22nd, 2019 2021 - Albania | Anxhela Peristeri - Karma - Dec 23rd, 2020 2022 - Bulgaria | Intelligent Music Project - Intention - Dec 5th, 2021 2023 - Ukraine | TVORCHI - Heart of Steel - Dec 17th, 2022 2024 - France | Slimane - Mon amour - Nov 8th, 2023 obviously mostly Albania but that streak isn't representative of their usual quality, only 'Mall' is an essential. I do remember 'Autumn Leaves' being revealed abnormally early now I think about it (but it's not an entry that sticks in the mind that much otherwise) but getting a November entry is a really really rare event. We haven't even got the official participation list yet! this is a very very good French ballad, surprised they've revealed it this early but good to get the season properly started. |

It's a great heartfelt ballad but it takes a while to get going. A good 7/10 for me

Definitely prefer the original. Still one of my faves (from the ones I've given multiple listens to)

I'd be surprised if this doesn't do very well with the juries, it just feels like a song that the juries will lap up.

Ok but why is this one of my favourite songs this year despite being, as usual, the most French thing ever, which I usually hate x

Love how well this did with both juries and televote. I didn't vote but it would've got my 5th vote if I had given one.

This was my 2nd fave going into the final (after Nemo) and I am so glad it resonated with people.
That moment where he moves back from the microphone and goes acapella was truly stunning. I wonder if he'd have stolen a few more votes had his voice not given out during the jury's contest |

I never really went back to this as other songs stood out and appealed to me more, but very bizarre that two members of the UK jury somehow thought it was the worst of the night and ranked it last
