Lil Nas X's Old Town Road challenges Lewis Capaldi for this week's #1 single. We could see top 10 entries for Avicii's posthumous single with Aloe Blacc - SOS, BTS & Halsey's Boy With Luv and Russ/Tion Wayne's Keisha & Becky following a new remix. Ellie Goulding's latest single Sixteen is also set to debut

Billie Eilish defends her #1 in an open race- The Chemical Brothers' No Geography could be their seventh album to reach the top, or K-Pop stars BTS may take it with Map of the Soul: Persona, while Emma Bunton returns with her first album in 12 years My Happy Place. New releases include rising Irish band Fontaines D.C.'s debut, and albums from KSI/Randolph, M Huncho, Norah Jones, LSD, Anderson .Paak and Walking On Cars

Jessie J could give away a prize so she doesn't flop and have an excuse tongue.gif

rooting for Chemical Brothers but it's gonna be hard,
they have 6 number one albums but they've never been massive sellers
their last album did 17k in week 1 so was a pretty lucky #1

Come on Emma fingers crossed for another top 10!

I'm hoping for a top 40 debut for Fontaines DC's album!

Posted by: SevenSeize 15th April 2019, 04:26 PM

not sure Chem Bros can get the #1 but they'll hopefully be in contention! reckon Emma will do enough to make the top 5

Posted by: Klumzee 15th April 2019, 04:35 PM

ew Keisha & Becky - why's that got a massive boost?

Posted by: Glenn 69 15th April 2019, 04:36 PM

No doubt BTS will be frontloaded but sure a 10k lead is uncatchable?

Posted by: liamk97 15th April 2019, 04:37 PM

Oh dear for LSD. The hype really has disappeared, they should have stuck to the original release date.

Posted by: Wall 15th April 2019, 04:38 PM

Damn at LSD, such a huge underperformance

A remix, just like how Gun Lean got a boost into the top 10 :')

Posted by: Wall 15th April 2019, 04:38 PM

Bts have number one guaranteed, chemical brothers probably won’t sell another 10k albums for rest of the week

Posted by: timjimlee 15th April 2019, 04:38 PM

Wow - that is quite a lead in the Album chart!

Poor Sales for LSD, I must admit seems more like an EP rather an an Album, only 30 mins including a Remix.

Fontaines at #4! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Hadji 15th April 2019, 04:43 PM

I hope Lil nas X can hold his position by Friday and knock that snoozefest off the top

Posted by: Scene 15th April 2019, 04:44 PM

A country track #1 in the singles and a K-Pop act #1 in the albums. Yay for diversity.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 15th April 2019, 04:48 PM

IDLES - Queens at #85 in the singles chart due to Record Store Day.

Posted by: Rush 15th April 2019, 04:49 PM

Ah nice to see 'Keisha & Becky' top 10, hope it holds on. Likewise Lil Nas X at #1.

Posted by: Cqmerqn 15th April 2019, 04:50 PM

Ellie at #44 with Sixteen, hopefully it stays top 50.

Posted by: JosephAvery 15th April 2019, 05:00 PM

Really pleased to see Boy With Luv top 10, I desperately want it to hold on but feel like a ~#15 debut is more likely with its (expected) iTunes tumble.

Posted by: Bré 15th April 2019, 05:01 PM

#2 in the first mids is still good enough for The Chemical Brothers, hope they can hang onto the top 3 at least although depends on how close behind Billie/TGS are I guess! I had a feeling they might come in behind BTS but that's a really impressive lead for them after their last release slightly underperformed! (I guess it was more of a deluxe version / compilation than a brand new album but was still surprised at it not making the top 10 just based on fanbase buys / their continuously increasing casual appeal).

I've heard 'Boy With Luv' once and didn't think much of it but it'd actually be quite cool to see it hanging onto the top 10 just as a first for Korean artists outside of novelty hits.

Posted by: JosephAvery 15th April 2019, 05:03 PM

Top 5 sales added

Posted by: Bjork 15th April 2019, 05:06 PM

low sales for Chemical Bros, looks like they might not even reach 10k :/ think they might end up at 4-5

Posted by: SophieMax 15th April 2019, 05:32 PM

OMG So am i is going top 10, we stan

Posted by: Hadji 15th April 2019, 05:46 PM

And poor Lewis doesn’t have the NOW 102 effect on his side as the NOW 102 version of SYL is album-only

Posted by: gavindeejay 15th April 2019, 05:54 PM

I thought Chemical Brothers would have better album sales!

Great to see Lil Nas X Number 1. The track has grown on me, but I hope it's not Number 1 for weeks as I think it will get boring really fast.

Posted by: SLlewellyn 15th April 2019, 05:55 PM

Thought The Chemical Brothers were going to walk it this week, hope they can hang on to second place somehow. Great start for Fontaines D.C. meanwhile.

Posted by: Moses 15th April 2019, 06:14 PM

Surprised by how close it actually is up top in the singles!

Posted by: Bré 15th April 2019, 06:17 PM

I saw a comment underneath the OCC top 100 singles page last week pointing out how every #1 since late October has been by an artist whose name begins with either A or L, 'Old Town Road' coming to be the 8th such #1 in a row laugh.gif (3 of them being by the same artist makes that slightly less implausible but still kind of an interesting quirk).

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 15th April 2019, 06:19 PM

Good to see punk on the rise with Idles, Fontaines DC, Shame and others growing.

Idles in particular should be #1 album contenders with their next release!

Posted by: pippa 15th April 2019, 06:33 PM

Disappointed with Emma Buntons sales, i am hopeful it can maintain a Top 10 position.
Chemical Brother are performing to how i expected.
I would welcome Lil Nas X holding the Number 1 and i am not a fan of Lewis Capaldi.
The tour effect kicking in for Take That and they are back in the Top 40 with Odyssey, i hope it holds on this time and not just miss out like they did after Mothers Day.

shame to see Avicii fall from the top 10 already but top 15 is still very impressive.

Ellie is down two from yesterday so her making top 40 this week seems unlikely.

Posted by: Bjork 16th April 2019, 11:19 AM

She should be doing a meet and greet signing somewhere this week, I would definitely have gone and bought another copy, I'm sure there are many others who would too... would help to boost sales. I didn't bother buying a pre-signed one but meeting her is different.

Hope Chemical Brothers can stay Top 5 albums.

Posted by: Wall 16th April 2019, 03:21 PM

meet and greet is legit the best promo for albums

Take That up 5 places from yesterdays update dance.gif
I will be disappointed if Emma Bunton loses her Top 10 placing, a meet and greet would have got her the sales she needs to secure Top 10 or possibly Top 5.

Yep everything has been perfect for this campaign (Bundles, Signed versions, TV/Radio) - the only thing missing was album signings! Surprised she didn’t do any I went to see her at HMV signings for her first 2 albums.

So THAT'S where it all went wrong for the third album!

Not necessarily, i think the vision for Life In Mono was all over the place. Free Me was more fun and vibrant, Life In Mono seemed much more interesting whilst clearly still a decent album they were just relying on basically her doing Strictly and her doing Downtown as the CIN single.

Free Me was remarkable, a legit outstanding album - excellent singles alongside one of the best pop songs ever 'Maybe'.

Really shocked that the LSD album is going to miss the Top 40. I know the singles haven't been that well received but I'd have thought that they'd have enough fans between the three artists (well, more Sia than the other two) to at least sell a few thousand copies.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 17th April 2019, 02:53 PM

Yaas Who Do You Love back in the top 40! Hopefully it can get a new peak.

Posted by: pippa 17th April 2019, 02:57 PM

Lil Nas X has the number 1 now
Emma Bunton slipping just 1 place may provide hope she can claim a Top 10 position on Friday.
Take That also showing hope they can claim a Top 40 return on Friday.

Suprised Bad Guy is still far behind SYL
Both Ava songs set to climb though smile.gif

Another strong performance this week from Billie Eilish in the album chart.

Anyone know the difference in sales from #8 to #11? Hoping Emma can stay top ten!

Posted by: Spiceboy 17th April 2019, 05:09 PM

Omg Emma I was so hoping she would at the very least hold onto #7 and possible climb to #6 since they gap was so small and she actually sold more than Fountaines the day before!

Anyone know the sales from 6-11?

Fontaines DC have had siginings yesterday and today - with another tomorrow. So that will help them.

Looks like The Chemical Brothers might still have a chance of clinging onto the top 3, new releases occasionally seem to magic some extra sales at the end of the week out of nowhere to hold up better than the midweek trend indicates (happened with The Prodigy and Foals for example), but even aside from that it doesn't look like Tom Walker is catching up fast enough to overtake by Friday? Not sure if TGS is either. They should be safe to be no lower than #5 even in the worst case scenario though which would still be alright (at least means they get a mention on the chart show) albeit a little disappointing.

Really feels like Lil Nas X should have a bigger lead than he does but he'll still be safely on track for #1 which is the important thing ~ wouldn't be too surprised if Lewis manages to still claw back another week or two at the top after this now though. Although there is new Taylor Swift coming which could be big if she plays her cards right magic.gif

Boo at the prospect of The Chemical Brothers being pushed down to #5, and Fontaines D.C. also missing out on a top 5 album debut (though T10 in itself is incredible really!)

I wonder is there much of a sales gap in the albums between Emma Bunton at number 9 and whoever is occupying the number 11 position.

Chem Bros now looking on course for #4 if TGS/Tom Walker continue closing at the rate they did yesterday for one more day (TGS sneaking ahead, Tom Walker still behind).

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 18th April 2019, 06:32 PM

It will be interesting to see how Lil Dicky does next week - I think it's a potential #1 debut with all the hype. I imagine it will do incredibly well on YouTube views, and iTunes sales as well (due to all money going to charity).

It will be harder on streaming for it because it's a just over 5 minute song (and Lil Dicky's songs revolve more around the video), but I think it will do alright on that as well.

Posted by: Spiceboy 18th April 2019, 06:34 PM

So frustrating seeing Emma just fall and fall throughout the week.
