quite a few songs i've heard but to have TWO songs in my semi that i was so close to sending - Namasenda (which i would NEVER have had fljo down for) and Anabel Englund (Lookylion on a REALLY good streak...). intrigued to see how they do! i'm quite surprised to see GusGus make it thru but it might not be that cheap tbh - that might be a good horse to bet on atm!

absolutely LOVE FARC and Klum's entries this month - I know the bloc is strong with them but jesus

I toyed with Sending Gracey this month, a different song, but I thought it would be a veto which lead me to send Caroline Polachek which actually turned out to be the veto I don't know any of the other songs but I am excited for Thelonia sending Churches

As I'm a sucker for behind the scenes info, here's one bit for You Lovelies:

I did the random.org-ing yesterday in the morning, still including Cadelicia and Scherzland (if Oliver reconfirmed, then there would've been 32 songs in both semis with only one AQ, Land of DW).
Scherzland was originally in Semi 1 (25) while Cadelicia was in Semi 2 (14) (Yes, random.org was nice to me, no cheating!).
It will be interesting to see how Scherzland's votes in Semi 2 will change the results + who will be the lucky 20th in Semi 1 to take Scherzland's place (assuming that they would've Qd... something that we won't know for sure now )

Maybe one day, it's certainly still very high on my potentials list but seems more of an entry for Eurovision season, when people are more open to pure cheese and schlager.

At least in the respect that the glass ceiling for the genre around March-June seems to be around 25th in the final instead of rock bottom, though pretty much all of my schlager entries have flopped on their arse...

The first 3 countries that came to mind that I thought might appreciate my entry are all in the other semi oop. Ah well, let's not lose hope just yet ~~

I counted 12 songs I'd already heard in this contest and 9 of them have ended up in my semi so I guess I already have a pretty good idea of what I'll think of it...! (spoilers: pretty positive, so hopefully the rest of the songs can live up to that standard x). Biggest early hype to Republic of Adonia, Aeroche & Fljótavík + Danæviia from the other semi (though as I'd only heard that one already because of seeing it in your personal chart the other week I'll still count this as being a BJSC discovery x). Happy to see JPEGMAFIA and Namasenda both making their first appearances in the main BJSC after I'd sent them to other contests (Peggy to the 2nd Halloween spinoff and Namasenda to Club Bizarre) - also appropriate for Peggy to appear here after we had entries from clipping. and Death Grips last year, may as well complete the Anthony Fantano-core experimental hip-hop starter pack eh xx

I was so stuck between sending this or drivers license! Was gonna send Olivia before it had even premiered but I stumbled across Lola and fell in love with it! I so nearly reconfirmed with Olivia on Friday (& tried to on Saturday but it was too late by then ) and if I changed it then I wonder if drivers license would have actually escaped veto as it was still in the midst of fully taking of here at the time the semi's went up Might've had my 3rd big January US hit in a row hopefully la la love me will do well, its such a bop and I love it! <3

'Double Dutch' is one of my faves at the moment, it just 'felt right' to switch to Keys N Krates instead of my original entry. It's not THAT instant, so it might profit from skipping the semi stage and go straight to the final.

But yeah, now sending Keys N Krates as an AQ quickly became a tradition, so I'll definitely dive into their discography when I win again in 2049.

Interestingly the song is indeed as I expected a remake of this early 00s house classique (a minor UK top 40 hit)

Semi 2 actually ended up having a similar number of big highlights to semi 1 for me, really just very impressed with the contest as a whole this month, lots of people on top form! That softens the blow of my inevitable DNQ a little x

Some more hype going out to Cumulonimbia, Jadakissnia, Suedeonia, Summericia and Terra Avium (the latter in particular was really an experience - here's hoping the justice for 'Lilith' is coming in abundance for this one).

I've voted. Semi 1 was very strong indeed, and so is semi 2 actually - yet another strong contest all round!

I had seven songs I loved and about eight more that I really liked in Semi 1, but managed to whittle it down to 11 in the end before giving one the cruel chop, and I'm sad about that because I think both of my contenders for the 1 point are borderline, and I hope it doesn't make the difference for the song I placed 11th.

I found it very difficult to separate a wonderful top three, but two of them I would imagine are dead cert qualifiers so I've given my 12 to the one I think could be touch and go whether it qualifies.

There was only 2 songs in Semi 2 I wasn't mad on but everything else is solid and about 15 songs in my ranking that missed out would be in there on a less strong semi.
