Saturday updates should be taken with a pinch of salt. Singles that have physicals usually appear at #1 on Saturday updates as a result of no streaming data (one of Noel Gallagher's' singles managed this yet ended up at the bottom end of the Top 75 by the end of the week) so albums that sell well physically will have the advantage too.
All those acts that release just in time for Christmas will have benefitted hugely from no streaming data being present. The vinyl sales for The 1975 will have probably dropped a lot and the cassette sales are probably close to none so those factors as well as no streaming to prop it up probably explains why it appears to have dropped 40 places so far this week. Should have returned to the Top 20 by Friday although I guess it's likely to miss the Top 10 which is still disappointing, but no as drastic as this Saturday update will suggest. |

https://twitter.com/mintroyale/status/10713...7720928256?s=21 Il add this in here as the only piece of chart data we have thus far! No wonder if almost half of their first week sales were preorders (someone said that it was 20k+)... Obviously they won't drop that much come Friday though. EDIT: Actually considering that #33 sold 8.9k last week, it IS possible that they drop below #40, but we'll see. This post has been edited by SKOB: 9th December 2018, 09:04 AM |

That update by Minty is pretty pointless nowadays as Liam pointed out in the earlier post, The 1975 album will probably finish up top 3 by the end of the week, and its not going to fall outside top 10 anyway. I've given up posting his comments on here, as they are a bit superfluous.

It only did 8,800 streaming equivalent last week, a number that will probably be much lower this week. It will probably end up top 20 if physical sales have collapsed as they seem to have, unless there is some promo planned. This post has been edited by iain: 9th December 2018, 11:13 AM |

not top 3 for sure, probably not top 10 but cannot see it out of the top 40
pretty sure it will have good streams that will compensate the lack of physical sales, they always seem to do good on streaming |

Its looking most likely to settle top 20 when I came to think about it more, considering TT opened up 100k in its debut week than crashed to 24k, If 1975 does the same, its probably heading for 12k in its second week (50k first week), which probably is around #15 to #20 mark. |

If it were a band like Prodigy that do bad on streaming, I could see them going out of the top 40 on week 2 if released now
but the 1975 is one of the few indie acts that do well on Spotify |

If it were a band like Prodigy that do bad on streaming, I could see them going out of the top 40 on week 2 if released now but the 1975 is one of the few indie acts that do well on Spotify Yes but they were only #2 on streaming this week, behind 6ix9ine who charted at #30 officially. As has already been said, the majority of the 1975's fans who purchased the multiple editions last week aren't going to be re-buying it this week and their streaming isn't going to miraculously increase from last week either, so I don't think low top 40 is out of the question for them this week |

I noticed in HMV yesterday the TGS soundtrack was discounted to £6.99 (when bought with another item), so that could give it a good weekend boost. Think it was only for the one day, but I imagine where most high streets were packed yesterday it’s bound to have had some impact.
