Now That's What I Call Music! 37 aka Now 37 tells the story of summer in 1997. Many of the artists selected to feature had made an appearance in the series previously, but it was the first time we heard from Hanson, The Cardigans, Ultra Nate, Shola Ama, Warren G, The Verve and Fun Lovin' Criminals. It was also the first appearance from Jay Z (later named Jay-Z), albeit as a featured artist.

Onto the omissions, and with 4 #1's making the cut out of a possible 8, it meant that we missed out on having Michael Jackson – Blood On The Dancefloor, Gary Barlow – Love Won't Wait, Olive – You're Not Alone and Puff Daddy & Faith Evans – I'll Be Missing You which was a tribute to the late Notorious B.I.G. Other noteworthy hits to be overlooked included the timeless classic Time To Say Goodbye performed by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli, and a #2 hit that year. As well as the theme tune to one of the most iconic 90's TV shows F.R.I.E.N.D.S. was The Rembrants – I'll Be There For You, a Top 10 hit in May 1997. Also excluded (in place of other singles from the same artist) was the #2 Richard III by Supergrass. Also absent was the iconic 2 minute anthem by Blur – Song 2, a #2 hit in April 1997. One other to add to this list was the #3 pop song Bodyshakin' by 911.

As always there were some one hit wonders placed on this volume, and they were from No Mercy, Rosie Gaines, N-Tyce, Foxy Brown, The Seahorses, Brainbug, The Course and Diddy.

Artwork Rating: 7/10 Very Good
Quite like the colours used in this design. The gold and bronze working well together and reflections of the logo from every angle. Very shiny design.

Disc 1 Favourite: R. Kelly – I Believe I Can Fly
A childhood favourite I have to say. This song has never lost its appeal to me, and the soulful lyrics just work really well. Of course, it will never not remind me of the movie Space Jam each time I hear it. R. Kelly's greatest work.

Disc 2 Favourite: The Verve – Bittersweet Symphony
An iconic piece of music which received much attention both in its commercial use and sampled in other tracks later on. For me, this is very melodic and a song I often come back to for it's enjoyment.

Overall Rating: 7/10 Very Good
This is a very good volume for me. It was just before I began collecting the series but I had heard many of the songs at the time and the quality is there. I like that there is very much a broad selection of genres found within this volume too, but what often stands out from this year in music was the heavy use of indie and Brit-pop found in the charts. A couple of additions might have bumped up the overall rating.

Andrew's Best 5 (as of April 2017)
1. R. Kelly – I Believe I Can Fly
2. En Vogue – Don't Let Go (Love)
3. Ultra Nate – Free
4. Sash! feat. Rodriguez – Ecuador

Andrew's Worst 5 (as of April 2017)

2. Warren G feat. Ron Isley – Smokin' Me Out
3. James – Waltzing Along
4. Supergrass – Sun Hits The Sky

Artwork:
Love it! Very glorious gold, saying look at me! Buy me! 8/10.

CD 1: A VERY strong disc. My fave has to be the brilliant Ultra Natι - Free, an essential 90s anthem that always perks me up! Shout outs to Rosie Gaines, Coolio & Ecuador too, all tracks I return to semi-regulary. Some big pop songs kicking off the album, Lovefool was the Rate winner. The big blot of this disc is I Believe I Can Fly sick2.gif genuinely one of the worst songs ever! Or I should say, least fave.

CD 2: Not a patch on the first disc. Bittersweet Symphony the CLEAR best track here. Not a lot else to mention, Nightmare is an interesting & unique addition but overall a poor side.

Overall: Combining both discs I'll rank this as a 7/10.
