problem is artists like Ellie right now they need to release first 5 collaborations with Rudimental, CB, Guetta etc, then 3/4 singles then they can release the album cos it's the only way album sales for artists like Dua Lipa, Anne Marie etc, none of this kind of artists can release 1 new single then the album
thats why I think theres no time for a Q4 release cos she'd already be in the charts with 3/4 collaborations

They don't *need* to release that many singles. I guarantee you that if Dua, Anne-Marie and Zara had released just a couple of their hits in a row and then chucked the album out, it still would've done well (especially as Dua had New Rules not long after the album and 2002 was impacting just as Speak Your Mind got released for Anne-Marie). It's more a sign of the record labels not knowing how to handle their campaigns - Dua's constant pushbacks (and subsequent release after the biggest flop single), Anne-Marie's 6 month gaps between singles, and both of those for Zara :')

I think all three had a problem withnimage aka the label not knowing what to push the artist at. Itbwas clear that Zara should be pop but for some reason Epic got her recording half an urban album

Ellie has always had big singles such as Anything Could Happen and Burn which led both segments of her second album campaign so I'm pretty sure she won't need a 30 single release lead up; she has waned in star quality as I've said about a dozen times this thread (:')) but she isn't firmly establishing herself on the back of any releases like the above trio were.

By the time (and if it does) Close To Me picks up it would leave her hardly anytime to launch the album and risk getting lost in the run up to Christmas so a smart move. She'll probably do a re-release as per her first two albums which should plug what is likely to be lower sales for this album.

Yeah I was hoping that it would be released in 2019 for the reason you mentioned, although this was pretty much confirmed when we didn’t get the album preorder with Close To Me.

Let’s hope she doesn’t release another 287 songs long album this time.

She was interviewed by The Guardian, where she discusses her new album due out this year and talks about three songs: "Love I'm Given", "Flux" and "Electricity", besides her climate change activism.

I love how she’s so switched on with real life issues; I really wouldn’t be be surprised if this turns out to be a poppier version of The Architect based on some of the things she mentioned.

QUOTE
Electricity is about a friend who had been cheated on quite cruelly for a couple of years. But I can’t help writing with empathy, trying to understand why a person has behaved the way they have. Somebody tried to write a song to damage me, and it was a really horrifying thing to go through. I found it really baffling, and just sad, that something that I’d built entirely by myself, my career, was somehow at risk. It had a huge effect on me. But I still didn’t feel the need to be angry – so maybe that’s a good thing.

Are you talking about Ed Sheeran? [Don’t is widely believed to be about Goulding.]Er … not specifically. [Sighs] There was a period where I felt someone was trying to sabotage me. So there probably are small pieces of the songs that relate to things that frustrate me, and things that are happening in the world, but I’ve always been conscious that I want to keep songwriting as an escape.

Ellie slept with Marina’s producer boyfriend at the time so Marina wrote this song:

“It's a power, it's a power, it's a power move
And while I'm not quite sure what she's trying to prove
They all say she's got low self-esteem
So, why is she looking like the cat who got the cream”

“She's the apple of everybody's eye
With an angel voice, devil in disguise
Got a sour face like a poisoned fruit
That the boys can taste 'til they're out of use
And she'll network 'til her dreams come true
Even if it means getting into bed with you
Everybody's friend, does it ring a bell
I know a little too much, but I'll never tell”

“I'm not passing judgment on her sexual life
I'm passing judgment on the way she always stuck her knife
In my back ever since we were starting out
Suspicious from the start, I always had my doubts about you”

I didn’t know about that but I did know about her with Ed, add that to Naughty Boy and she’s just not a great person to be around by the sounds of it tbh.
