Oof Noel vs Wolf Alice for #1 then

Wolf Alice coming for a third #2 album in a row? drama.gif

~

My initial thought about hearing this existed was wondering if Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds really had enough material to make a full greatest hits / best of album but actually that's a really solid tracklist, they've put out more good tunes post-Oasis than it feels like! (Then again I guess it has already been a decade...)

I definitely wasnt expecting a greatest hits from him but I'm happy with it and think its great track listing.

Great song. Can hear elements of Thirteen Senses - Into the Fire and Andreas Johnson - She in there.

I can certainly hear Andreas Johnson's Glorious on the strings in the verses, if that's not a credited sample then it's a very cheeky homage! ohmy.gif

On first listen much preferring this to ‘We’re On Our Way Now’, which has gotten old for me really fast.

I like both songs, very British while We’re On Our Way Now sounds like instant Oasis classic and Flying On The Ground sounds like Robbie Williams's 00s b-side.

I wish Noel all the best with that GH!

I'm really enjoying this. There's quite a few tracks on his albums that I'm not particularly fond of (although the last one was pretty good throughout) so this works just fine for me. AKA... What a Life! and Ballad of the Mighty I are much better in retrospect than I gave them credit for at the time... plus Holy Mountain remains a whole load of fun.

I'm loving this album, full of great songs, it's a shame he has never had a big hit with any of the material here.
