Not sure there was any real need to move Bruno up two playlists but there you go.
Once again a disappointing week for new additions but there are so many songs now that need removing, I can see a healthy clearout coming next week, with plenty of new entries. |

Just realised they still haven't added Anne-Marie I really hope that's down to its impact date rather than a snub.

Well he's top 10 on iTunes and Spotify so it makes sense he's A-listed |

Its weird that they keep playlisting the same flop songs over and over even though they made no impact whatsoever on the charts and yet they refuse to playlist classic artists like Kylie and Robbie and the Pet Shop Boys and Madonna just because they appeal to a 35+ audience... ridiculous...

Because they want to support newer artists (that appeal to a younger audience) and the likes of Kylie and Robbie don't need it anymore?

Because they want to support newer artists (that appeal to a younger audience) and the likes of Kylie and Robbie don't need it anymore? It should be about the songs, not about the artists... isn't this what music is all about? Radio one's policy is very biased against older acts, not because they don't need it, it's just because their policy is ageist... radio airplay should be about the quality of the songs, not about the artist's age.... so you think that songs by artists such as Ramz, Shaq. j Hus, anne marie etc are better than the new offerings by established artists such as U2, Kylie, Robbie or Steps???? I don't think so... If they want to keep any credibility, Radio One should be a lot less ageist and focus more on the quality of the songs and less on artists age... |

Are we really having the age debate again? Artists like Kylie, Robbie and Madonna are not going to get playlisted on Radio 1 again, EVER. There are other radio stations that cater for them. Let's just accept that and move on.

Let's just accept that and move on. Why shouldn't we have the debate? Why should we just accept ageism? They just assume that young viewers don't want to hear them... it wasn't the case in the late 90s and early 00s when Cher, Madonna, and even Diana Ross could still get hits. Tina Turner was in her late 40s/50s when she had a huge comeback. Cater for them? Do you really think songs like Living for Love and Dancing are suitable for Radio 2? If anybody else, Rita Ora, Dua Lipa or whatever she's called had released them they would go straight to A-list. It's a joke. This post has been edited by No Sleeep: 19th January 2018, 02:22 PM |

I don't think so... Whether they are 'better' or not, we can all agree that Ramz and J Hus are far more relevant to the audience Radio 1 are targeting than Kylie and Robbie. Radio 1 has to play music that is relevant to 16-28 year olds. Kylie's main audience is not that age group. I'm sure Radio 2 will play her.
