A straight switch at the top as Fuego falls to #15 and Elohim rises straight to the top; Half Love becomes her second top ten and first chart topper. Jonas Blue lands a third #2-peaker as Rise moves up to #2, while the rest of the top 5 just shuffles about a bit. BTS, Rainsford and Christine move into the top ten, with the latter gaining her highest peaking track so far as Girlfriend outpeaks 2013's Wandering Lovers, her previous top track for me.

Brand new entries are once again a little thin on the ground this week; the technically highest goes to Hayley and Kehlani's What I Need which re-enters on the strength of the video release. So far it's looking good to outpeak its original #10 placing back in April. Highest brand new entry goes to my top pick from the last BJSC, DJ Koze's Pick Up, which debuts just outside the top 20. Other debuts this week come from Friendly Fires, James Bay, M.O, Sia (LSD), Govi, Kanye, Evanescence, Honne and Deaf Havana.
I'll link the videos to those a bit later in the week to save you having to imagine what they sound like

Giving your #1 a listen now, took a while to get going but I'm enjoying it now, that drop is great! (Just noticed your #1 and #15 have swapped places, that must be some coincidence )

Intentions is sounding interesting, quite quirky but the vocal is nice!

Love Like Waves is amazing! It's really catchy and I'd sort of forgotten Friendly Fires existed but a great comeback!

And new entries!



Kicking us off it's a re-entry for Hayley and Kehlani with What I Need, which already charted on album release. It's the latest in a string of success for Kehlani this year who's charted a top ten and top 20 collab in a row as well as the original top ten peak of this song, primed to rise in next week's chart. Hayley by contrast only has one other charter so far, 2016's #2 Gravel To Tempo. I'll have to give the new album a better listen now though.




A few rockier tracks debut this week, Deaf Havana landing a fourth charter with debut track Sinner from their upcoming fifth album, and Evanescence finally charting a track from their latest album Synthesis; the singles released from it just missed hitting my top 40 last year. It's a welcome return for the Gothic group who haven't made an appearance since 2013 when they took a hiatus and a member reshuffle.




Friendly Fires and Honne give us a pair of indie new entries this week, both with songs that have proved slow burners but ironically enough sound better in the warm weather.




M.O and Sia are this week's poppiest component, the girls collabing with Dusk for another potential hit against all odds, and Sia also joined by collaborators Diplo (predictable enough) and Labrinth (more off-piste). This might actually be Labrinth's chart debut for me as nothing he's done so far has really been up my street at all, not least the awful and sappy Emeli Sande collab long running UK hit. Ugh.




A pair from the hip-hop R&B side of things this week also come from Govi and the return of solo Kanye West, who hasn't appeared on my charts since 2016's Champions.




And finally for this week, two unexpected faves, DJ Koze's Pick Up which went down like a lead balloon in the first plug semi for the last BJSC but ended up being my favourite thing in the contest, and Wanderlust by James Bay, an album track (I think) that I found after quite enjoying the first two singles from his most recent album, having not enjoyed at all anything from his debut. The haircut makes all the difference.
