Wonderful to see If You Were With Me Now get another vote and back into a tied second position.
I do agree about Word Is Out, like 2 Hearts it was a bad choice of lead single.
With that said, what would have made a better lead single?
Also what else could have been done to have made Lets Get To It more successful to have got it a Top 10 debut?

Out of the 4 singles I'm not sure which would have been the better option as lead single. The singles are all so different from each other but it's likely the 3 after word is out would have been better lead singles but if word of mouth was released as 2nd,3rd or 4th single it might have missed the top 20.

The album is quite disjointed as the singles show - I like all the singles but ‘The Word Is Out’ was not the best choice as a lead, GMJALMT probably could have gone to #1 as the lead single and set the album up for better success.

Ya it def would have had a chance of number 1 and likely helped the album off to a better start. Here in Ireland all the singles except for finer feelings made the top 10,finer feelings stalled at number 16.

Interesting that the singles from Lets Get To It appear to have by large performed better in Ireland than in the UK.
When i read your post i looked up some of Kylie;s Irish chart placings and it showed some surprises as the early part of her career she had more number 1 hits there.
In later years Into The Blue reached the Top 10 but the singles from Golden are showing as they missed the chart completely.

Give Me Just A Little More Time on reflection may have turned out a better option as the lead single. Had that been the way it is likely that Word Is Out would not have made it as a single at any point.

'Give Me Just a Little More Time' is my favourite; like Michael Andrew commented, it is such a joy and Kylie really gets involved in the song.

I don't think I agree with the suggestion it should have been lead single though. Yes, its chart success may indicate it would have been even bigger as a lead, but I don't think it represents the album or where she was as a person at the time. Kylie was developing as an artist and figuring out who she was, experimenting with different styles and sounds; I think relying on a cover of a song that was already a hit and that holds the signature 80s SAW exuberance would have been a step backwards. I think 'Word is Out' works as a lead single in terms of representing the album as well as being commercial sounding. Perhaps that didn't reflect well in the charts, but forgetting that and just focusing on the song, it works, certainly more so than 'Give Me...'.

Maybe 'Finer Feelings' could have performed well as lead? That too illustrates the album and is strikingly different for Kylie, but in a way that 'Confide in Me' ended up being so I don't think it would have had a negative effect. I guess reaching #11 on the chart was quite a triumph considering the era had long been dead in the water.

I also agree that 'Word Is Out' wasn't the best choice for the lead single, but don't think that any of the other singles would have worked (maybe 'Finer Feelings' might have worked), I think they should have just went with one of the album tracks, 'Too Much Of A Good Thing' or 'Right Here Right Now', one of these would be my choices and either could have worked better than 'WIO' and could have easily maintained her top 10 streak.

The other 3 singles are fine and are definitely strong choices, however the only slight change I would have made is that I would have swapped 'IYWWMN' and 'Finer Feelings' around as I think the latter could have definitely performed better if released sooner and seemed kinda wasted left as the last single when the era had basically already came to an end.

"Too Much of A Good Thing" (or 'Right Here Right Now')
"Finer Feelings"
"Give Me Just A Little More Time"
"If You Were With Me Now" [Ft Keith Washington]

Just an idea, tell me what do u guys think.

Finer Feelings was my least fave of the singles but it did represent the direction Kylie was heading for musically on her next album. Give me just a little more time, was catchy and it did well in the charts but it was a step backwards in sound when you compare it to the singles before it and those of rhythm of love. It was indeed a time when kylie was once again trying to find herself musically. I wasnt a huge fan of word is out when released but i do like it now, in the last few years i have listened to it more than i ever had,

Word Is Out was the first Kylie single that I wasn't keen on. I still bought it (was buying all her singles), but when If You Were With Me Now and Give Me Just A Little More Time were released, I thought ''Now that's more like it'', and then Finer Feelings was released and I thought it was as bland as Word is Out. And I was a lil bit disappointed with the album too.
Having said all that, I grew to love that album and all it's singles.

I vote for If You Were With Me Now. For me, it's still the best duet she's ever done !

Nice spread of votes.Lets get to it was def an album that needed a few listens as I thought it was her first album that wasn't as instant as her previous three.

Totally agree with this - at the time LGTI was released I wasn’t ready for experimental Kylie and wanted another Enjoy Yourself or Rhythm Of Love album although looking back Kylie’s experimental phases (which is still ongoing!) made her have longevity.

I like the singles from LGTI but overall I think it’s her weakest album by far and listening to it and as all the singles show due to them being so different you can tell Kylie wanted to do something different but was not really sure what.

The difference in sound of the singles also showed kylie wasn't fully sure of the sound she wanted. GMJALMT was like the safe single as it was the nearest to her previous pop hits and I suppose just like with IP it once again showed Kylie fans prefer pop Kylie to everything else.

Never really care about the original version of Finer Feelings but the remade version in Abbey Road is my definition of heaven! wub.gif

I thought finer feelings on abbey road was a better version too. I also thought it would be a runaway winner on this poll aswell and I'm happy it's not as it's the single I like least from the album. Seeing this poll has me listening to if we're with me now again, the song really shows off kylies vocal aswell as been a great song/duet. Never heard much from Keith Washington after though.

The vote to date is surprising as i didn't expect such a close race which is always good to see as it shows the different tastes and preferences the fan have for the various singles.
Keith Washington continued to release music after the duet but from what i understand never achieved much chart success.
