Hello loves, it’s Evelynn ~ Welcome to the semi-finals.
Matchmaking took a bit longer than usual but in the end we ended up with a fairly sizable group of champions to face off in the contest’s semifinals. In the end we got a good mix of genres and it’s sure to be as fun as the last. I bet you’re eager to rush over and listen to all the performances, but first we have to cover some ground rules:
02 | Each country must vote in their assigned semifinal. The autoqualifier for this round, Cor Lupus, will vote in both semifinals.
03 | Votes must use this points system to rank your top 10 favorite entries: 12 / 10 / 08 / 07 / 06 / 05 / 04 / 03 / 02 / 01
04 | You can’t vote for yourself. I mean... we all want to, right? But that isn’t a good reflection of what everyone really thinks about your entry.
05 | http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showuser=21308 will be handling all vote inputs and calculations for this event. Some say he’s been getting better at slicing and dicing. But you didn’t hear it from me.
Your deadline for turning in votes will be 8 December 2020, at the stroke of midnight BST. Failure to vote on time will cause your point totals to be slashed. Late votes will be allowed by discretion of the host but will be subject to a 15% deduction, while no shows will suffer a 33% deduction. We’ve seen too many games lost too early because of this and we don’t want you to be the next F in chat.
Only the highest 20 scoring champions from each semifinal will progress trough. Will one of them be yours?
Now I’m going to leave it up to you. But remember, it’s not what you see that matters... it’s what you don’t.

I love my track this month. Not sure how well it will hold up for anyone hearing it for the first time in 2020 but in 1994 I was obsessed with it. Probably one of the first tracks I heard that was beginning to develop the trance style sound.

There are 2 songs this month that have already made my chart, although they've both ended up in the opposite semi from me - one of those rather shockingly coming from Oslol of all people (and the other is Land of DW which is less surprising). Hype to those two! Also was an interesting surprise to see 'Prisencolinensinainciusol' popping up as an entry here from someone other than Harmonica (Jordan posted that song as his country's national anthem a few years ago 
seems like a fairly random detail to remember but it is a pretty unforgettable song...) Excited to hear FalKKonE's take on Mozart after how much I loved his entry from Nuggets as well. x
Most of the songs that I already know are not in my semi, think there are 3 or 4 in my semi that I've already heard as well though - I am quite here for King Gizzard finally making their BJSC debut, not quite a top tier song from them for me (should have gone all out and sent something from their thrash metal era xx) but still pretty good and will no doubt grow on me. Similarly I do like 'Sky2Fall' but why send that when 'Live 4ever' is right there!!
I've had Jorge Elbrecht on my radar for a little while (think I originally came across him due to him having a collab with Ariel Pink a while back), was waiting for him to drop the right song to send here and the time has finally come, hope you guys are here for an entirely too overdramatic 80s pastiche with a gloriously over the top music video to match x

Singerpurear gets all of my hype this month!I genuinely had no idea Jordan! If I'd known it when you first announced it I would have entered it then cos I lurrrrve it!
Lots of highlights for me, unusually knowing some already. Jam & Spoon is a fab track, big top 10 back in the day in our charts, fun to see Alice deejay, and tracks from former fave BJSC entries Captain Cuts & Javiera Mena. Javiera is one of our all-time fave discoveries from the contest with the absolutely glorious Otra Era, I even tried to learn the Spanish-language lyrics to singalong to. I see Sudeonia went for the camp option
Holy Shades of Floral Dance, Xmas 1977! Look forward to hearing that one And a recent track that also charted for us, the fab Ariana & The Rose, a former Singerpurear act. Then there's something called Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, one of my fave classical tunes (Mozart) from my pre-teen days, love that tune. Hoping it's the same one....Fab!

The Lonely One one of my all-time favourite songs! Always feels like it should have been much, much bigger but it was probably too hard and frantic for the public who were apparently more into the cheesy Europop of Will I Ever that came before it.

Fun fact: Claudia Valentina was the song that was double confirmed at the last minute. So that's 2 contests in a row that Scherzland's entry was confirmed more than once despite not exactly seeming particularly cheap.

I thought it was a very strong and diverse semi, I've managed to narrow it down to 12 but they're all so different, they'll need a few more listens before I can decide who to commiserate.

For the record I want to add that Hushkanukia got 10 woots for their entry and was one of the most popular of the night! We don't discriminate against countries honest! x

Yay hype from plug! I wasn’t sure how it would go but that song was 1994 for me, I played the full version to death - and please do give the full version a try if you’ve only heard the radio edit of Jam & Spoon, I’m totally biased by nostalgia but it’s so much better than the radio edit for me... a shame it seems to have been completely forgotten immediately after release and most annoying that it’s not available to stream. I can still remember the first time I heard it and the DJ looped the intro a few times before the beat, I thought it was the most mesmerising thing ever and I just completely lost myself when the whole thing unveiled itself... it’s one of the only times I’ve ever forced my way through a dance floor to find out from the DJ what he had played. It’s one of those retro entries that really means a lot to me so I’m so relieved that at least a couple of you enjoyed it.

I had my hopes high when people were describing this semi as 'noise' and I wasn't disappointed *.* I'm glad I wasn't the only one that went in that direction x
Loved my top 5 here, really hope they all qualify, already feels like a lot more highlights than last month.

I've not listened to the radio edit but I can definitely tell it's a song that benefits from the full length so it is a shame that that version isn't on Spotify indeed.

Great semi, loads to vote for + the highs are really high. My 11th and 12th would've made the top 10 in any other contest.

Voted. Semi 2 was good for the most part but the quality did dip a couple of times in the middle and nearer the end unfortunately. I can see FARC & Rolloland doing very well!

Voted, very difficult indeed, such great variety in Semi 1 (my top seven are all different genres *.*) and I liked about 20+ songs and loved 12. Hard to choose who to get rid of.
I'd love to see all of my votes make it but I suspect one of them is a no-hoper, sadly, and a couple will be borderline.

Yes, I'm also on 20 songs I want to point, so I'm going to have to runthrough again to ruthlessly chuck out half of 'em.
There were some others I knew but missed when I flicked through, so mentions for Air, a great oldie, JPCooper which charted for us, and amongst the new-to-me ones, Sad Magic is a potential do-weller.

Finally listened to the whole of Semi 2, and it was also very good - another high quality contest all round!
13 songs I really liked with a very strong top ten - none of which I can help out at this stage but I would love to see them all in the final. Four of them have DNQ predictions mind, so I doubt that will be happening.
