BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Olly Murs - Seasons

Topic will of course be updated later today...but for now, from the man himself:

@ollyofficial: 1st day of gym time in 2015!! Not looking forward to this but it's needed! Plus its 3rd single announcement time too?! What we thinking?!😝

I should perhaps point out here that not many weeks ago, his official newsletter had a survey asking fans what their favourite song from 'Never Been Better' was, which I can only assume was helping to determine what the third single would be. I am therefore thinking it'll be 'Did You Miss Me' but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Beautiful to me please smile.gif

Officially confirmed as (one of my personal favourites) 'Seasons' that he worked with Ryan Tedder on!

Listening post is up:

I did vote for this one in the fan survey as my favourite so I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one who felt the same.

This is a good choice, I think I should buy this album coz luv the tracks I've heard so far the singles Wrapped Up and Up were great, Seasons will be another big hit for him and also really getting into Did You Miss Me which will probably be the 4th single.

Posted by: Mango 10th February 2015, 03:50 PM

This is a great choice of single, and should hopefully give him another Top 20 hit.

Posted by: Cameron 10th February 2015, 04:22 PM

Seasons is my favourite off the album, very happy with this!

Posted by: mr_aly 10th February 2015, 05:39 PM

Wow, what a shockingly awful decision!

'Did You Miss Me' is a glaringly obvious choice.

Posted by: Regina 10th February 2015, 05:59 PM

Worst track on the album. Awful choice.

I get the feeling 'Did You Miss Me' will be one of those songs that end up being a fan favourite and live favourite but never released as a single.

I'd say 'Seasons' and 'Wrapped Up' are the best indicators of what's on the album. You'd love 'Let Me In', the song Paul Weller co-wrote with him, it's gorgeous - dare I say the best slow number he's done since 'Dear Darlin'.

RE: this. I love 'Did You Miss Me?' - I have a feeling that'll be the opening song on tour and it is such a funky beast of a track. Maybe as a 4th single in the summer potentially?

But 'Seasons', for me anyway, feels like the much better choice for this single. It's such a different, quirky kind of sound for Olly and it's got that strong melody/topline Ryan Tedder has a knack for.

Posted by: Liаm 10th February 2015, 06:46 PM

I've kind of gone off since the album release, it'd be like my 7th choice ouf of the non-singles laugh.gif

Does he not realise Did You Miss Me is on the album? drama.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 11th February 2015, 06:25 PM

Official single artwork (apologies for the faint lines across it - Olly did that annoying thing of revealing it a square at a time on Instagram so a fellow fan I follow on Twitter had the tricky job of welding the squares together):

Posted by: MyKindOfLove 11th February 2015, 07:07 PM

It's a decent choice for a third single (Syco have probably got some big single ready for 1D). "Did You Miss Me" is REALLY crying out for a release. Get him to go sexy in the video if he releases it wink.gif

Posted by: Jay ジ 11th February 2015, 07:25 PM

I have to say I find 'Did You Miss Me' a bit overrated. It works as opening track for the album but I don't rate it as a potential single.

I'm happy with the new single choice, it's one of the tracks that stuck out to me the most!

This. It's not so much that I don't think it would be a good single, more that if came out this time of year it would have almost certainly done an 'Army of Two' - promoted to buggery whilst he was on tour and stalled outside the top 10 at 12 or whatever. It would make more sense as a summer release.

'Seasons' has been many critics' favourite on this album as well as the fans', so this is the right choice for sure.

Posted by: ThePensmith 20th February 2015, 10:49 AM

EP release date confirmed for 5th April - just as his tour gets under way so will be interesting to see how that pans out promotion wise. Mind you 'Army of Two' was released mid tour so...

He's on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway being pranked tomorrow night and on Top Gear on Sunday doing the 'Star in Reasonably Priced Car' circuit. The former I cannot WAIT for.

Posted by: Noahspike 21st February 2015, 11:17 PM

I love 'Seasons' heart.gif. Really infectious bridge and chorus. I've been playing it a lot over the last week or so and would love to see it do well. That's two excellent singles in a row after the underwhelming 'Wrapped Up'.

Posted by: pippa 23rd February 2015, 11:47 AM

Wonderful choice as a single to follow up the beautiful Up, a third top 10 for this era would be wonderful too.

Posted by: ThePensmith 23rd February 2015, 02:16 PM

Fingers crossed - hopefully he'll get some decent promo slots to support it as well.

Posted by: ThePensmith 2nd March 2015, 01:37 PM

Just had to share this - Olly won the award for 'Best International Music Act' at the Golden Kameras in Germany on Friday (quite a prestigeous award ceremony there too, so I'm told). He performed 'Wrapped Up' along with Nile Rodgers:

He looks genuinely delighted to have won as well, God love him. It's still beyond me why the likes of the BRITs in this country continually ignore his success - and his lasting success I should add - because he isn't cool, all this in spite of releasing two million selling albums and having another of one of the 10 biggest selling albums of last year. Ah well, their loss.

Except it's not actually their loss, it's his loss. Maybe one of these years they'll recognise his success and at least nominate him for something.

I just meant it was their loss in respect of ignoring decent pop music just because people are still so hung up on where he came from.

He isn't in the same way he was anymore - he in fact it said it took working with Paul Weller on this new album for him to realise he was a good popstar, because Paul simply didn't care where he came from etc.

Anyway. Video is being filmed today. And Olly is wearing one of these:

Intriguing!

Couple more behind the scenes shots from his Instagram:

Posted by: ThePensmith 8th March 2015, 12:51 PM

Confirmed this morning that he'll perform on the first live shows of 'The Voice' as an exclusive on 21st March!

Posted by: Aphrodite 9th March 2015, 01:24 AM

Hopefully he can manage a third hit his era and i think this should at least go top 20, if it can become a decent sized top 10 hit it will push the album wel over double platinum.

Posted by: ThePensmith 14th March 2015, 08:46 PM

Video premieres on VEVO on Monday...

Posted by: ThePensmith 16th March 2015, 12:09 AM

Here's the video! A massive improvement on the 'Up' video - love all the different setups and the storyline of it - very fitting to the song! I like his outfit on the disco stage 'bit' too.

Posted by: Red. 16th March 2015, 07:23 PM

Heard this for the first time on Radio 1 this afternoon.

Surprised at how good it was on first listen

Posted by: ElectroBoy 16th March 2015, 08:15 PM

Loving this song atm - certainly better than the last few songs he's released

Posted by: Jonjo 16th March 2015, 11:05 PM

Compared to what he has on the album this song still hasn't properly hit me. It's ok but that's all for me. I just want it to do well coz it's Olly now, more than anything.

Posted by: pippa 18th March 2015, 12:11 PM

Never been better would have been a better choice for 3rd single in my opinion but i do like seasons. I am finding it hard to predict its peak position as i am unsure if its a strong enough choice to become a top 10 hit for him. A top 20 would be good too, but, i am more interested in it helping increase album sales clearly over double platinum status.

Posted by: Taylor Jago 18th March 2015, 07:16 PM

I really like this, hopefully it does well.

Posted by: ThePensmith 20th March 2015, 09:49 AM

#63 on iTunes - and will probably go higher given it's retailing at 59p for next two weeks. Also now B-listed at Radio 1 and 2 smile.gif

And he's performing on the Voice this weekend too which should give it a boost too

Posted by: Davidson 20th March 2015, 06:52 PM

Not a fan of him at all really but this is by far my favourite single he has ever done. I am shocked to see people say this is not a good single choice, it is so strong.

If you listen to this, you'll probably understand why:

Posted by: ThePensmith 21st March 2015, 06:03 AM

Also confirmed yesterday he is chatting and performing on 'Loose Women' next Thursday and 'Jonathan Ross' next Saturday. 'The Voice' tonight as well too 😁 😁 😁

Posted by: Mateja 21st March 2015, 11:35 AM

I think this is a great single choice. Actually my favorite of the three singles released so far this era.

Posted by: ThePensmith 25th March 2015, 10:16 AM

Already #38 in midweeks - excellent start and #27 on iTunes. He is also performing 'Seasons' and a duet with Madness (!) on the first in the new series of 'Sunday Night at the Palladium' on ITV this weekend smile.gif

Oh, Murs rotf.gif

Is it just me that finds the A lister selfie hunting aspect of his personality really rather endearing? Just proves he's a big giddy old fanboy as much as the rest of us.

Also - his new hair looks nice.

2. Seasons (Seamus Haji Club Mix)
3. Never Been Better (The Journey - Part 1, video documentary)
4. Never Been Better (The Journey - Part 2, video documentary)

How brilliant was he on Jonathan Ross last night? Much better performance than on 'The Voice' I felt and his Shaggy impression was hilarious!

Posted by: JimmyT 29th March 2015, 09:14 AM

Just noticed its at 59p, when did that happen??

Posted by: ThePensmith 29th March 2015, 10:42 AM

Nearly two weeks ago! Only that price until Tuesday though I think now the EP's out.

Posted by: ThePensmith 6th April 2015, 07:19 AM

Finally becomes his 14th UK top 40 hit at #34 yahoo.gif

This will also be the next single in Europe, around June time!

Posted by: Rob.S 10th April 2015, 04:36 PM

This is all the way down to 48 on iTunes atm so I can see #34 remaining the peak for this. Which in all fairness isn't too bad because it at least went top 40 smile.gif

Posted by: mr_aly 10th April 2015, 04:47 PM

I'd put money on 'Did You Miss Me' doing MUCH better as the third single had that happened, but I guess we'll never know now.

Stupid record label.

Posted by: Liаm 10th April 2015, 04:48 PM

This is definitely his worst single for me, it doesn't hasn't grown on me at all sad.gif Did You Miss Me is such a missed opportunity, I hope that's at least fourth.

Please Don't Let Me Go is on the floor offering bj's to the other singles....I took this too far. Point is Seasons is better than Army Of Poo, Oh My Goodness and PDLMG

Posted by: ThePensmith 13th April 2015, 09:54 AM

With the distance of a fortnight, this probably would have done a bit better had Heart and Capital still not been hammering 'Up', had management and label not just tossed the digital EP out one week early when they realised streaming was hammering it with only the hardcore fans (i.e. the likes of me) knowing about its release and promo for the single having been extended for a week prior to the tour starting.

Still, it got him another top 40 - his 14th overall - which considering this is third single in off a #1 album that's shifted half a million already is at least something. He's said in interviews this last week that at least two more singles are imminent from this album. Given it's the opening number on this current tour I'd imagine it'll be 'Did You Miss Me' next if they get it out around the time 'Britain's Got Talent' live shows start as they did with 'Right Place Right Time' on the last album.

Posted by: ThePensmith 1st May 2015, 02:08 PM

Will be performing this - and a duet with Madness on 'It Must Be Love' on the first in new series of 'Sunday Night at the Palladium' this weekend: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a645155/watch-olly-murs-duet-with-madness-live-at-the-palladium.html
