No idea what will win this evening... nor do I have any idea how well my own track will do, I suspect not very well as my track sort of didn't fit in when I listened to them all.

Posted by: Eyes 2nd March 2014, 07:06 PM

I probably won't be able to follow this all the way through but very interested to see how my song does, it did feel like a standout but obviously that's with my own biased view.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 07:08 PM

Posted by: Cal 2nd March 2014, 07:11 PM

'Girl From The North Country' is fab, so I wouldn't be surprised if it won comfortably.

Posted by: Grebo 2nd March 2014, 07:12 PM

TBH I thought it was a bit meh that someone sent a Dylan cover.

A third set of points for Lions sees them go 6 clear at the top from Lebanon Hanover who get the 10 this time. Male Bonding now the only act not to get a point yet as Sloan pick up 5. Dumb Numbers edge closer to being in positive.

Posted by: Cal 2nd March 2014, 07:18 PM

'Gallowdance' was by far my favourite track in this. wub.gif So haunty ~

15 -03 Dumb Numbers 'Redrum' - 152Chris
16 -05 Fidlar 'Cocaine' - CATORCE

Another 10 to Lebanon Hanover see it move to the top, with Courtney Barnett moving into the top 3. The 10 for Sleepy Sun sees Cal's entry move into the top 5 whilst the two in negative edge ever closer to 0.

Posted by: Harve 2nd March 2014, 07:21 PM

The War In Drugs sounds like a winner. Mine definitely doesn't.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 07:23 PM

I'll do what I did this time and present the votes of the current leader, it was SevenSeize who send Lebanon Hanover.

03 - Male Bonding
04 - Dumb Numbers
05 - Courtney Barnett

15 002 Dananananaykroyd 'Pink Sabbath'
16 001 Dumb Numbers 'Redrum' - 152Chris

10 points to John Grant sees 'GMF' take an equal lead with Courtney Barnett also scoring highly and moving within a point of the lead. All songs now have points and all are in positive figures.

Posted by: FrankLuck 2nd March 2014, 07:24 PM

Wow, I was the first to vote 1 day before the original deadline? laugh.gif
I really like my top 3, I listen to them a lot, 'Girl From The North Country' is a gem!

SMASH.

(for now)

Posted by: مدهش* 2nd March 2014, 07:27 PM

Most of my favourites doing decently enough. My favourite two were easily ahead though so hopefully they will replicate that here...

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 07:29 PM

Host and creator of the first round of Nuggets Anthony T is up next, who sent Sloan

01 - The Royal Concept

08 - Lions
10 - Spring Offensive

04 022 John Grant 'GMF'
05 017 Spring Offensive 'Hengelo'

I really like my top 3, I listen to them a lot, 'Girl From The North Country' is a gem!

I'm not presenting them in vote order, though you were still the third to vote! Fourth if you include my own votes.

Posted by: 🌝🌝🌝 2nd March 2014, 07:33 PM

Sorry for not voting! I just never really got round to listening to all of them, and didn't like many of the ones I did!!

Good to see I'm at least in positive numbers.

Posted by: *Thousand 2nd March 2014, 07:34 PM

Lions and Courtney Barnett were 2 of the worst 3 so eek at that top 2 so far. Lebanon Hanover was very good though (on point Seven ~)

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 07:36 PM

Bre up next, who sent Spring Offensive, currently sat in the top half.

01 - Fidlar
02 - Sloan
03 - Male Bonding
04 - Sleepy Sun
05 - A Plastic Rose
06 - Lebanon Hanover
08 - Dananananaykroyd
10 - Vancouver Sleep Clinic

01 032 Lebanon Hanover 'Gallowdance' - SevenSeize
02 028 Lions 'Girl From The North Country' - Severin
03 027 Courtney Barnett 'Avant-Gardener
04 025 Vancouver Sleep Clinic 'Vapour'
05 022 John Grant 'GMF'
06 019 A Plastic Rose 'This Side of Winter'
07 017 Spring Offensive 'Hengelo' - Bre
08 017 Sleepy Sun '11:32' - Cal
09 013 Sloan 'Unkind' - AnthonyT
10 012 The War on Drugs 'Red Eyes' - Thomsen
11 010 Turisas 'Ten More Miles'
12 010 Dananananaykroyd 'Pink Sabbath'
13 007 The Royal Concept 'Goldrushed'
14 006 Male Bonding 'Year's Not Long'
15 004 Dumb Numbers 'Redrum' - 152Chris
16 004 Fidlar 'Cocaine' - CATORCE

Lebanon Hanover take the lead again as they're the only act from the top four to receive any points. 10 points to Vancouver Sleep Clinic see them move up to the rest of the challengers, whilst most of the songs toward the bottom score points, Dananananaykroyd getting their first significant set.

Posted by: *Thousand 2nd March 2014, 07:39 PM

'Hengelo' is doing better than I expected so far. Thank you for the 10 points Tony ~

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 07:41 PM

The Royal Concept are one of two acts here to have previously been entered into Unknown Pleasures, then as just The Concept, where 'Gimme Twice' did a lot better than 'Goldrushed' is currently doing for Chez Wombat.

01 - Lebanon Hanover
02 - Vancouver Sleep Clinic
03 - Courtney Barnett
04 - Sloan
05 - Dumb Numbers
06 - The War on Drugs
08 - John Grant
10 - Sleepy Sun

01 033 Lebanon Hanover 'Gallowdance' - SevenSeize
02 030 Courtney Barnett 'Avant-Gardener
03 030 John Grant 'GMF'
04 028 Lions 'Girl From The North Country' - Severin
05 027 Vancouver Sleep Clinic 'Vapour'
06 027 Sleepy Sun '11:32' - Cal
07 019 A Plastic Rose 'This Side of Winter'
08 018 The War on Drugs 'Red Eyes' - Thomsen
09 017 Spring Offensive 'Hengelo' - Bre
10 017 Sloan 'Unkind' - AnthonyT
11 010 Turisas 'Ten More Miles'
12 010 Dananananaykroyd 'Pink Sabbath'
13 009 Dumb Numbers 'Redrum' - 152Chris
14 007 The Royal Concept 'Goldrushed' - 152Chris
15 006 Male Bonding 'Year's Not Long'
16 004 Fidlar 'Cocaine' - CATORCE

CW's votes makie it incredibly tight at the top with just 6 points separating the top 6 after 8 of the 15 votes. There's a sizeable gap developing to those below now though with four more songs bunched together, and then another gap to the bottom 6.

They've been sent to BJSC as well - are they the only act to have been sent to all 3?

Posted by: Chez Wombat 2nd March 2014, 07:44 PM

Well, this isn't going too well D:

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 07:45 PM

Eyes up next, who sent Turisas.

01 - Fidlar
02 - Spring Offensive
03 - Lions

05 027 Vancouver Sleep Clinic 'Vapour'
06 027 Sleepy Sun '11:32' - Cal
07 027 A Plastic Rose 'This Side of Winter'
08 024 The War on Drugs 'Red Eyes' - Thomsen
09 019 Spring Offensive 'Hengelo' - Bre
10 017 Sloan 'Unkind' - AnthonyT
11 017 The Royal Concept 'Goldrushed' - Chez Wombat
12 013 Dumb Numbers 'Redrum' - 152Chris
13 010 Turisas 'Ten More Miles' - Eyes
14 010 Dananananaykroyd 'Pink Sabbath'
15 006 Male Bonding 'Year's Not Long'
16 005 Fidlar 'Cocaine' - CATORCE

Five points to Courtney Barnett sees her song move up into the lead with A Plastic Rose and The War on Drugs catching the leading pack. The Royal Concept more than double their previous score with 10.

Posted by: Grebo 2nd March 2014, 07:49 PM

Just listening to Gallowdance again - nice and gothy.

Would be quite nice to see them win.

Posted by: Chez Wombat 2nd March 2014, 07:51 PM

Thanks for the ten points Iz, was getting dangerously close to the bottom there!

Supporting John Grant to win, despite being a little bit too well known, but Gallowdance & Avant-Gardener would be decent too. Really didn't get that Lions song though.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 07:51 PM

Dandy* (now in Arabic) is up next, he sent Vancouver Sleep Clinic who currently reside in the top 5.

01 - Dumb Numbers
02 - John Grant
03 - A Plastic Rose
04 - The War on Drugs
05 - Courtney Barnett
06 - Spring Offensive
08 - Lebanon Hanover
10 - Sleepy Sun

01 041 Lebanon Hanover 'Gallowdance' - SevenSeize
02 040 Courtney Barnett 'Avant-Gardener
03 037 Sleepy Sun '11:32' - Cal
04 032 John Grant 'GMF'
05 031 Lions 'Girl From The North Country' - Severin
06 030 A Plastic Rose 'This Side of Winter'
07 028 The War on Drugs 'Red Eyes' - Thomsen
08 027 Vancouver Sleep Clinic 'Vapour' - Dandy*
09 025 Spring Offensive 'Hengelo' - Bre

14 010 Dananananaykroyd 'Pink Sabbath'
15 006 Male Bonding 'Year's Not Long'
16 005 Fidlar 'Cocaine' - CATORCE

Dandy* voting for 7 of the top 8 songs he could vote for sees his own song slip down, but he'll obviously be pleased with how the votes are going so far. A third 12 for Sleepy Sun.

Posted by: Cal 2nd March 2014, 07:52 PM

*.* Ta for the points, you're all fab!

Posted by: Grebo 2nd March 2014, 07:52 PM

Like the John Grant track too but it does pale next to Pale Green Ghosts (the track).

Nice use of swearing though. smile.gif

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 07:57 PM

Brett-Butler is up next who, perhaps unsurprisingly, send the act from Belfast; A Plastic Rose

01 - Spring Offensive
02 - Courtney Barnett
03 - Sleepy Sun
04 - The Royal Concept
05 - Dananananaykroyd
06 - The War on Drugs
08 - Lions
10 - Sloan

01 042 Courtney Barnett 'Avant-Gardener
02 041 Lebanon Hanover 'Gallowdance' - SevenSeize
03 040 Sleepy Sun '11:32' - Cal
04 039 Lions 'Girl From The North Country' - Severin
05 034 The War on Drugs 'Red Eyes' - Thomsen
06 032 John Grant 'GMF'
07 030 A Plastic Rose 'This Side of Winter' - Brett-Butler
08 027 Vancouver Sleep Clinic 'Vapour' - Dandy*
09 027 Sloan 'Unkind' - AnthonyT
10 026 Spring Offensive 'Hengelo' - Bre
11 021 The Royal Concept 'Goldrushed' - Chez Wombat
12 015 Dananananaykroyd 'Pink Sabbath'
13 014 Dumb Numbers 'Redrum' - 152Chris
14 010 Turisas 'Ten More Miles' - Eyes
15 006 Male Bonding 'Year's Not Long'
16 005 Fidlar 'Cocaine' - CATORCE

Courtney Barnett retakes the lead despite scoring just two, whilst Sleepy Sun and Lions move to within touching distance. The War on Drugs are also only a top mark from being top too.

Posted by: *Thousand 2nd March 2014, 08:04 PM

'Vapour' was the best song here by a mile. Glad to see it not doing too badly.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 08:08 PM

Horatio is up next, who sent John Grant, just about currently in contention but he could as good as take himself out of it here.

01 - Fidlar
02 - Vancouver Sleep Clinic
03 - A Plastic Rose
04 - Courtney Barnett
05 - Dananananaykroyd
06 - Spring Offensive
08 - The War on Drugs
10 - Lions

01 049 Lions 'Girl From The North Country' - Severin
02 046 Courtney Barnett 'Avant-Gardener
03 042 The War on Drugs 'Red Eyes' - Thomsen
04 041 Lebanon Hanover 'Gallowdance' - SevenSeize
05 040 Sleepy Sun '11:32' - Cal
06 033 A Plastic Rose 'This Side of Winter' - Brett-Butler
07 032 John Grant 'GMF' - Horatio
08 032 Spring Offensive 'Hengelo' - Bre
09 029 Vancouver Sleep Clinic 'Vapour' - Dandy*
10 027 Sloan 'Unkind' - AnthonyT
11 021 The Royal Concept 'Goldrushed' - Chez Wombat
12 020 Dananananaykroyd 'Pink Sabbath'
13 014 Dumb Numbers 'Redrum' - 152Chris
14 010 Turisas 'Ten More Miles' - Eyes
15 006 Male Bonding 'Year's Not Long'
16 006 Fidlar 'Cocaine' - CATORCE

A second 10 for Lions sees it take the lead again by three points, there are four other realistic contenders though with The War on Drugs making a late push. With three votes to go including that of one contender, could I have won this for a second time running?!

Posted by: Grebo 2nd March 2014, 08:13 PM

Wish I could remember who I voted for!

Guess I'll find out soon.
Sleepy Sun would be a good winner too.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 2nd March 2014, 08:14 PM

The answer to that is a resounding no, as Male Bonding take me from first to last!

01 - Sleepy Sun
02 - John Grant
03 - The War on Drugs
04 - Sloan
05 - Lions
06 - Lebanon Hanover
08 - Spring Offensive
10 - Vancouver Sleep Clinic

01 054 Lions 'Girl From The North Country' - Severin
04 047 Lebanon Hanover 'Gallowdance' - SevenSeize
02 046 Courtney Barnett 'Avant-Gardener
03 045 The War on Drugs 'Red Eyes' - Thomsen
05 041 Sleepy Sun '11:32' - Cal
08 040 Spring Offensive 'Hengelo' - Bre
09 039 Vancouver Sleep Clinic 'Vapour' - Dandy*
07 034 John Grant 'GMF' - Horatio
06 033 A Plastic Rose 'This Side of Winter' - Brett-Butler
10 031 Sloan 'Unkind' - AnthonyT
11 021 The Royal Concept 'Goldrushed' - Chez Wombat
12 020 Dananananaykroyd 'Pink Sabbath'
13 014 Dumb Numbers 'Redrum' - 152Chris
14 010 Turisas 'Ten More Miles' - Eyes
15 006 Male Bonding 'Year's Not Long' - RabbitFurCoat
16 006 Fidlar 'Cocaine' - CATORCE

Whilst may own song may be failing miserably at least the songs I like are doing well, with all of my votes going to songs in the top 10. Lions take a 7 point lead with two votes remaining. It looks like a three way battle with Courtney only having 10 points available.

Posted by: Cal 2nd March 2014, 08:23 PM

'Gallowdance' PLEASE.

Posted by: Harve 2nd March 2014, 08:23 PM

01 056 Lebanon Hanover 'Gallowdance' - SevenSeize
02 054 Lions 'Girl From The North Country' - Severin
03 051 The War on Drugs 'Red Eyes' - Thomsen
04 046 Courtney Barnett 'Avant-Gardener - Grebo
05 044 Vancouver Sleep Clinic 'Vapour' - Dandy*
06 044 Sleepy Sun '11:32' - Cal
07 040 Spring Offensive 'Hengelo' - Bre
08 038 John Grant 'GMF' - Horatio
09 034 A Plastic Rose 'This Side of Winter' - Brett-Butler

14 012 Fidlar 'Cocaine' - CATORCE
15 010 Turisas 'Ten More Miles' - Eyes
16 010 Male Bonding 'Year's Not Long' - RabbitFurCoat

Harve and Grebo both put the winning song in their top 2, the question is does that make the winner Lions after spending most of the contest towards the top or Spring Offensive coming from nowhere to win a very tight competition?

Spring Offensive plz. (Will obviously be Lions tho)

Fantastic winner! Congrats, Severin! biggrin.gif

3rd? Not too shabby! Thanks for the votes! And thanks Mark for hosting this. happy.gif

Posted by: Grebo 2nd March 2014, 08:28 PM

I voted for Lions coz it's a Dylan song and head and shoulders over most other things here.

Still stand by my earlier comment tho.

Congrats Severin.

Posted by: Grebo 2nd March 2014, 08:29 PM

oh yes and thanks RFC for hosting this.

Posted by: *Thousand 2nd March 2014, 08:29 PM

Aww.

Ah well, a second top half finish, all good ~ Not a fan of the winner but love the other two in the top 3!

Posted by: Eyes 2nd March 2014, 08:30 PM

Harve! <3 Saved me from last. laugh.gif

Ah well, decent winner from what I can remember about it. Well done Severin and thanks RFC for hosting so well.

The third set of votes come from Cal, who entered Sleepy Sun.

05 - Sloan

These were supposed to be for Spring Offensive. Ooops.

never saw Lions being a runaway winner there. congrats Severin!

wasn't sure what to expect from Gallowdance, but i'm hugely impressed with its performance ohmy.gif - thanks everyone ^.^

Came on here just in time to see the final results. Didn't expect to win to be honest but I'm happy with the result. Thanks to all who voted for Lions and I'm glad you liked it. Grebo, I kind of take your point about it being a cover but I didn't spend too much time thinking about it.

Some good songs in there. And well done to RFC for hosting a great competition.

Scorecard:

Severin did state it was a Dylan cover but I was happy to allow it through as I wouldn't imagine many participants would be familiar with it.

I think that's fair enough. I didn't mind that much anyway, after all it was my second favourite in the competition.

Ah, just missed that top-3. I don't think I've reached that in any of our competitions since entering Wild Nothing - Chinatown or something like that back in the 1980.

Didn't like the winning song at all but that's the usual business...

Thanks for hosting this, RFC

I didn't get the winner at all... oh well! The songs in 2nd and 3rd were my favourites though so I cannot grumble too much.

Thanks to Bré and RFC in particular for the points, glad Vapour picked up some love from some quarters. biggrin.gif

Thank you very much to the four people that voted for me! Not an ideal result, but a little better than what it was looking like earlier.

Well, that winner ranked last for me, so not great, but I did really like all of the other top 5. Congrats to Severin happy.gif

Congrats Severin! I'm soo happy that my favourite won this time, now I can (nearly) forgive Mondkopf's second place in UP. Thanks RabbitFurCoat for hosting and AnthonyT (I think) for coming up with the idea of 'Nuggets'! I originally started participating in UP as I wanted to find some songs like these (I clearly didn't know what UP is all about or I still suck at genres).

Posted by: ¿ CATORCE ? 2nd March 2014, 09:31 PM

I'm so sorry I didn't get round to voting. Some top stuff here, would have been a privilege to get a decent finish without the penalty.

Posted by: Harve 2nd March 2014, 09:38 PM

The best track won, hooray!

Posted by: Horatio 2nd March 2014, 10:10 PM

Congrats on the winner Severin. Girl From The North Country is everything I'd ever hope to get in a Nuggets entry, hardhitting, guitarfilled, extremely intense and still catchy in its own way, one of my favourite tracks from any of the BuzzJack competitions.

I also really enjoyed The War On Drugs a lot, a brilliant track, that would probably have done well in UP as well, even checked them out to see if they had other stuff of similar high standard, didn't find anything yet though.

Posted by: AnthonyT 2nd March 2014, 10:17 PM

Good winner. Well done, Sev.

Thanks for hosting, RFC,

Posted by: AnthonyT 27th July 2014, 09:27 PM

Grebo asked about a new round of this. As Severin is the current holder of the title but doesn't feel he can commit to hosting it I'll open it to the floor....

Would anyone like to host?

Posted by: { bré } 27th July 2014, 10:15 PM

I'd say, to be fair, pass it down to the person who came 2nd in the last edition.

Posted by: AnthonyT 28th July 2014, 07:03 PM

Good idea. 7Seize has been been summonsed.
