Chart Commentary

Greetings. What a failure 2020 has been, and with it comes an apology and admission that I failed to keep up a personal chart except the first week of the year! It wasn't my intention to dismiss this concept, but I did not seem to be compelled to keep updating it at the time, but now I have decided to try and make more of an effort, especially given the rightful promotion of JSG to Personal Charts Moderator recently. Congrats again James.

So here we have only my second personal chart of the year, and given the length of time between the two it comes as no surprise that I am opting to replace the entire Top 40 with more recent songs of my choice. The order might not be perfected at this stage, but it is a platform to build on, and I will base my future charts largely on my listening activity on last.fm which was a system I wasn't fully taking advantage of at the time due to streaming via Apple Music which largely wasn't scrobble friendly. However, I have reverted back to a full-time Spotify Premium user and I am so glad I did, and scrobbling is much more compatible again.

I won't make a big commentary about this week's chart but I will mention my choice of #1 was a surprise to me as much as you but it seems this sound has been keeping me positive most of the week and it seems that the national consensus is that it is a hit in the making as it continues to soar up the official chart. That is why I have chosen Shane Codd to be my Track Of The Week for this personal chart.

I am still using an old template to design this personal chart, but in the coming weeks it may be refined and graphics may be improved. My goal will be to post my personal chart each Friday in the future.
