I have been listening to a couple of 1997 Mark Goodier shows from this account today! I'm very interested in hearing 90s and noughties chart shows, so if anyone spots any others popping up on Mixcloud then please give me the heads up here!

Not exactly 'classic' but I'm currently listening to the 2007 EOY chart in the background at work and oh my, I suddenly feel 10 again. It's a great listen wub.gif

There's not enough on there from 1994 I notice sad.gif , a pity as I do like that year for chart music particularly. And there doesn't seem to be much on there for much of the 00s apart from 2000 sad.gif

I like the Tommy Vance ones, he occasionally talks about the background of the song and interesting facts about them unlike most of the other presenters which is interesting.

Oh and here's the one with my BJSC 111 entry in it ('Talk Talk')! biggrin.gif A new entry for a big hit for Madness as well and a good top 10 too higher up with some well known classics in it.

I'm currently listening to the chart from 20 years ago. Some 17-year-old singer called Britney Spears was at #1 for a second week! heart.gif wub.gif

Just found a 2009 chart presented by Scott Mills and it's the iconic Joe vs. Rage Against The Machine one! I think this is the first one from that year that I've come across on Mixcloud.

Already living for the first song played wub.gif

thanks for the reminders - listening to the first chart of 1972, and so many 14-year-old birthday memories for me. I was sat with my finger on the record-button of my reel-to-reel tape recorder recording my fave songs from this show and radio generally, so I have bits and bobs of charts and radio shows from Singapore in 1970/1971 and UK from Oct 1971 onwards through to the 2000's, plus Florida radio in the 90's and 00's. Very few complete shows though.

This Jan 1972 show has Rod, Cher, Amarillo, T.Rex, Let's Stay Together, Deep Purple & much much more for fans of classic tunes...

Was happy to see this chart in my feed today as 1999 is one of my favourite years for music. Background listening at work this afternoon sorted *.*

Thanks for this - what a start to that chart - classics from DC and I can't remember the name but that dance record is a classic, then one of my favourite songs of all time 'Only You'.

Hearing Mark Goodier doing the countdown is class as well. He is just starting to be a regular on the BBC 4 1988 totp episodes. He was so much more professional than anyone we hear now. Even with the facts about the Yazoo New Entry!

That dance song in question is 'Synth And Strings' by Yomada!

I'm currently up to the top 10 *.* Glad to hear that you're fond of Mark Goodier as I think he's my favourite chart show host!

Ah yes Yomanda! I'm sure I have it on cd single from the time, just couldn't think of the name of hand. There were so many dance classics at that time.

Watch the totp episodes from 1988 on BBC 4 Mark looks so young in them lol. Great host! I remember his final show in I Think late 2002 - they played 'Angels' by Robbie Williams after the number one was announced.

Just found this chart from October 2000 that was uploaded a couple of days ago! *.* that will take me nicely through this afternoon at work.

15 minutes in and 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)' is already an enormous highlight wub.gif

Yes, that's the week that the Baha Men climbed from 14-2 with “Who Let The Dogs Out?” - the first song since “I Don't Want To Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith to become a Top 10 hit after debuting outside the Top 10. A feat that became very rare between 1995 and 2005.

it was all the record companies, pushing a record onto radio 6 weeks ahead of release to build up demand, week of release make it half price, result: peak position first week of release and few climbers. You could pretty much make up a good list of likely chart-toppers months in advance just looking at the release schedule. Tracks that beat the odds and climbed were very rare, and tracks in films tended to have extended lives vs those that weren't in films.
