Analysis

2 new entries join the album chart this week, Christina Aguilera’s Mi Reflejo, her Spanish album debuts 14 places lower than her 3 English albums at No.15…Summer Holiday Hits debuts at No.8…Outside the top 10, there are slides to new lows for most of the years big albums while the only album not going anywhere is Shakira’s Oral Fixation Vol.2…Sandi Thom and Now 64 start the top 10 by not budging…Nelly Furtado and Alisha’s Attic also stay static at No.7 and No.6 respectively…Cascada and Lily Allen swap places in the top 5 as do The Pipettes and Paolo Nutini, the latter moving back to his peak of No.2…Christina Aguilera however scores a second week at the summit with Back to Basics!!!

The singles chart has four new entries this week courtesy of Supafly Inc, Gina G, Cascada’s cover of a Roxette hit, How do you do and Christina Aguilera who has the highest new entry at No.10 with ballad Hurt. Elsewhere outside the top 10, Christina climbs with I Got Trouble up to No.13 while Lily Allen shoots back to No.11 with new single LDN…David Guetta has a huge drop from No.4 to No.12 this week…In the top 10 which like the album chart is saturated by non-movers Rogue Traders extend their top 10 stay to 14 weeks as they stay in 9th place behind Sandi Thom who slides to No.8…Cascada and The Pipettes continue impressive chart runs by staying at 7 and 6 respectively. Paolo Nutini shoots up to No.5 with new single Jenny don’t be hasty giving him a second top 5 hit while Mickey Modelle and Jessy slide a couple of places to No.4 this week…Nelly Furtado stays at No.3 on her 11th week around with Promiscuous while Christina shoots up to No.2 with a perhaps future single, the excellent Candyman which becomes her biggest hit in my chart for almost 3 years!!! This means that Shakira stays at No.1 for a 6th week with her record shattering duet with Wyclef Jean which smashes the half year chart barrier on its 26th week in the top 20!!!
