Neighbours star Kyal Marsh has accused producers of ruining his character with a "stupid" storyline.

The actor was unhappy with a plot which saw his character Boyd Hoyland cheating on his wife Janae, played by Eliza Taylor-Cotter.

Kyal became so disillusioned with the show that he was happy when his contract was not renewed by bosses. He filmed in final scenes in April but has not yet departed on UK or Australian screens.

"I absolutely hated my character at the end. I couldn't believe what they made me do," Kyal, 19, told the Sheffield Star newspaper.

"I thought it was a stupid storyline and I copped a lot of flack over it. I was really upset. My contract didn't get renewed but I was pretty happy to leave by then. I was ready to go. I was 14 when I joined. It was time to leave."

Marsh is now living in London with his former co-star Ben Nicholas, who played Stingray Timmins. They have been auditioning for West End theatre roles and making personal appearances at universities across the country.
----------------------------

Shame for him. I am pretty sure Boyd had cheated on someone before (i think it was Sky with Serena) so it wasn't out of character. Also on Neighbours Reveld did you see the inbetween bits with him and Ben Nicholas (stingray). Ben looked well orange didn't he!

Neighbours is one of my fave soaps atm, Very good.

Spoilers for UK Viewers:

Zeke Kinksi starts dating Lolly Allen, but she leaves shortly after.

Ned is set to get a blast from the past- when an ex girlfriend returns with a child, he never knew he fathered! But he is also set to score in the romance stakes when he gets with Janae Timmins.

The Timmins (Bree, Janelle & Allan) leave after the latter two's wedding. They leave after blind child Anne Baxter returns, and convinces them to move nearer to her. Janae is staying on for at least another year.

Pepper Steiger is leaving Neighbours at the end of October, a few weeks after Libby Kennedy makes her return to the show.

Carmella is set to have a contravesial storyline, in which she starts romancing teenager Ringo Brown.

Frazer and Rosie are to marry.

Most of them have started in Austrailia, except Frazer and Rosie marry on the 23rd July in Aus.

I've watched Neighbours from time to time, its kinda nice seeing Toady's character growing throughout the years I remember him as a chubby little kid, he is also a comedian and an amateur wrestler.

It will be sad when Pepper goes, I really like her character, and a nice bit of crumpet wink.gif wub.gif

Neighbours star happy with new changes to show

Neighbours star Pippa Black has admitted that she wasn't a fan of the Australian soap's shift to sensationalised storylines.

Producers promised that the show would go back to its roots in March this year, following weeks of low viewing figures in Australia.

The changes will be seen on Oz screens over the next few weeks, and Pippa, better known as Elle Robinson, has explained that it is a relief to be performing in more realistic scenes.

"There have been explosions and a lot of big bangs - I guess it had taken a somewhat fanciful direction," Pippa told the Herald Sun.

"Things were happening so quickly, stories began and finished in an episode. It's exciting to be doing some more realistic stories. It's still a soap opera, it's still entertaining every night. But the stories will be more believable."

Neighbours New Look & Spoilers

Posted by: Osiris Jul 23 2007, 08:31 AM

Watching it now...just saw it open with the new opening, i dont like how they change the theme song

Rosy finally gets married...but after the wedding a van full of passengers; Toady, Stef and bridal party all get bit by a truck. And ofcourse someone dies but you dont find out who till tomorrow night

Posted by: Shoat Jul 24 2007, 10:13 AM

You know, I quite like that new theme...it's all just a shame that they axed Janelle but not Ned sad.gif

Posted by: martyn Jul 24 2007, 03:54 PM

More than 1 million Australian viewers tuned in to Network Ten for a first look at the revamped Neighbours yesterday.

Monday evening's episode - which featured new credits, a new theme tune and a change to HD filming - pulled in an average of 1.05 million viewers in the 6.30pm slot. It is the first time that the soap's viewing figures have topped 1 million this year; just a few months ago, it was pulling in fewer than 700,000 viewers.

The episode saw Rosie and Frazer tying the knot and also introduced viewers to Ned Parker's relatives.

Further changes will be rolled out over the coming months, including a shift back to "realistic" storylines.

realistic storyline coming up are Paul being oliver's dad which means when he was with Elle, he was with his sister. Yes cause that is realistic, I am pretty sure I have worked out that is what happens.

Posted by: Shoat Jul 24 2007, 10:54 PM

Oooh apparantly Valda is making a comeback, rumoured to be permanently aswell. EXCELLENT. Although if they do set her up with Lou again that probably means no more Mishka visits. sad.gif

Posted by: Gary Jul 25 2007, 08:03 PM

I love Valda, but sadly her reapperance is only for a long term guest stint. About six months I heard, due to the actress who plays her having health issues in real life.

QUOTE
Neighbours producers have recruited another former Australian Idol contestant to star on the soap.

Dean Geyer, who finished third in the talent show's 2006 series, will arrive on Ramsay Street later this year, playing the part of an aspiring singer. It is expected that he will perform his own songs on the show as part of the storylines, as Delta Goodrem (Nina Tucker) regularly did during her own Erinsborough stint.

Dan O'Connor, better known as Ned Parker, was also approached by producers in 2005 after starring on Idol. Blair McDonough - who played mechanic Stuart Parker - was another actor who first found fame on reality television; he finished in second place on the Aussie version of Big Brother before joining the show.

how would that work?? we would be 2 weeks on from where we are now.

yeah but it's season is only seperated by 2 weeks over christmas. So as we now don't have a christmas break insted of losing 4weeks each year with the xmas and wimbledon break we only lose 2 so stay the same distance behind over 12months as we both have a 2week break, we only fall slightly more behind due to bank holidays.

I wish we didn't have a wimbledon break though, they really could still show it. I don't know why we are so far behind australia it seams silly really. Hopfuly after a while on C5 we will catch up with australia so we are only a fortinight behind

I doubt it. They've already got Home And Away in the same timeslot as the Simpsons, and I doubt they'd move one Aussie soap from that slot just to replace it with another. I'd imagine they'd make an effort to keep around the 5.30 slot.

If anything Five might treat it better, I wouldn't be surprised if they started up a Neighbours omnibus on either Five or one of their satellite offshoots.

Posted by: Gary Jul 30 2007, 08:54 PM

Five will deffo treat it better, IMHO.

They have a Home and Away repeat the next day, plus an Omnibous on a Sunday, I hope they do the same for Neighbours.

Posted by: Robmusikman07 Aug 6 2007, 06:14 PM

it might be possible that i won't keep watching neighbours after sky, janaelle, bree and pepper who are all huge characters i will cry when all of them go bree is on a disney channel kids program soon can't wait and sky we know is trying to sing which we'll still see her its just janelle and peppers we won't see which is a shame pepper didn't even last year which is a real kick in the guts.

Ive been watching this for the first time in ages this week and WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?

Harold one step off a kidnapper, Lou being NICE, Paul Robinson imagining a character called FOX is haunting him.

MADNESS!

Would anyone majorly object if I unpinned this, I don't think it gets enough activty to justify being pinned. The topic wouldn't be closed but I don't think it is worth having it pinned.

Bizarrely enough, this is actually a plot device to bring SANITY to the show. An odd way of doing that but...
The idea is reportedly that the producers felt that the "badass Paul Robinson" show was becoming increasingly far-fetched with explosions, gangsters, evil twin brothers etc. So they've decided to explain it all by Paul having had an undiagnosed tumour, which is what brought about the gangster act, and Fox. And then happily for the producers, they can have the tumour removed, and hey presto Paul Robinson suddenly becomes a nice normal character for the families to enjoy. Magic.

The "new look" storylines look quite decent really, from the Aussie episodes I've watched on YouTube even Ned's become a watchable character ohmy.gif Giving him the child and Janae has really worked wonders.

Posted by: ScottyEm Aug 31 2007, 07:43 PM

Neighbours is about to get good, the guy who was in charge of the stalker storyline in Home and Away has taken over as producer, his first storyline was that guy in a wheel chair and his birds wedding and the ratings have already improved. They are bringing Neds family and his dad is that guy that went ouy with melissa george and he was in police rescue. With the guy from H & A in charge this show may finally start to rock, rather than naff storylines involving Harold dropping a cake!!

It is a shame, Janae's the character who has grown most of all in the past couple of years, and the Ned/Janae/Mickey/Kirsten storyline currently going in Australia is quite a good one.

Leaving we have:
Pepper- Leaves in November [Australia]
Adam- Leaves in December [Australia]
Janae- Leaves in January/Febuary [Australia]

Returning:
Libby- Returns in October [Australia]
Darren- Returns in November [Australia]

Anyway, Janae is one of my faves. She has really grown on me, and I'm loving the Ned/Mikey/Janae/Kirsten storyline in Aussie at the moment

Cheryl was killed by a lorry when she rushed into the road to save baby Lolly. There was a lot of fuss about whether it was the collision that killed her, or the treatment that Karl gave her at the scene. Will be interesting to see how Darren and Karl react when he comes back, they've never seen eye-to-eye.

True, but on the other hand Delta Goodrem (Nina) was a singer foremost when she was taken on, and Blair McDonough (Stuart) apparantly got his part mainly off the back of Australian Big Brother. And they weren't as terrible as Ned has been.

Posted by: martyn Sep 23 2007, 02:30 PM

As well as Janae (Eliza Taylor-Cotter ) deciding to leave Neighbours, Frazer (Ben Lawson) has also decided to quit the soap to travel over seas. I wounder how Frazer will leave since he has resently married Rosie in Australia

However Carmella (Natalie Blair) and famously wooden actor Dan O'Connor who plays Ned will be around for another year

Posted by: Gãzzålíçìøù§ Sep 23 2007, 03:15 PM

Dan O' Connor's really improved of late, and I think Eliza Cotter is the reason. They work well together, as well as little Fletcher O' Leary.

As I said before, tis a shame that Eliza [Janae] is leaving and now I'm stunned that Ben has quit- I always thought Rosie would be the first, out of 'Frosie' to quit first ohmy.gif

Posted by: Shoat Sep 23 2007, 07:10 PM

Ouchie, Frazer's actually been quite a good addition, quite an amusing, sarcastic guy. Just watched a scene recently from Australia where he tried babysitting Steph's little boy, the bloke's quite good at the comedy.

It's a shame just as soon as Neighbour has launched this "new era" that so many of their big hopes are now jumping ship; Frazer, Janae and Pepper (don't think I'll miss Adam though, he completely trumps poor old Ned in the wooden contest).

The danger Neighbours now has is that so many of the cast will have changed it will be hard for people to care about them; we'll have lost the ENTIRE Timmins clan, Sky, Boyd, Katya, Pepper, Adam and Frazer, all in only a year, and that's assuming no-one else calls it quits. I reckon Neighbours need to start doing a bit more re-recruitment. They've already got Libby back, and Valda, Darren and Stonefish are due back for guest stints. Perhaps if they bring back a few more familiar faces, if only temporarily, it'll help offset the truckload of completely new faces we'll be expected to give a hoot about.

Ouch, this whole revamp's coming apart rapidly. Neighbours' retention levels are becoming worse than Home and Away's.

When will these people learn that 99% of them have no chance of making it in Hollywood whatsoever?

Posted by: T Boy Sep 29 2007, 05:09 PM

Oliver is the worst actor and character ever. Ned has improved a lot recently since he's had scenes with janae but Oliver is just c**p. He has a rubbish unbelievable character too. Bring back Will. Oliver is a mean, selfish, weird looking character that every other character loves for no good reason and all the girls swoon over him. he hardly even talks to any other characters and he's not in the opening credits so why is he sticking around? every character confirmed for leaving seems to be great. looks like we're just gonna end with harold, Lou, the Robinsons and the Kinski-Kenedy's

The opening credits change on UK screens in a few weeks time, and Oliver does feature in them, he's sticking around.

I kind of have to agree on Ned, pairing him up with Janae has worked wonders, Eliza really is one of the better actresses there at the moment, let's hope Ned doesn't go back to his old wooden ways once Janae leaves.

that's awful news. U might have noticed by now but I really HATE oliver!

Posted by: Joao Filipe Oct 13 2007, 03:48 PM

does anyone know when Libby is coming back???? tbh when she left the magic pretty much ended sad.gif and i want Paul Robinson to be caught out that he started the fire in the pub years ago. that storyline was one of the best. And the one with Old Charlie.

Neighbours revamp fails to win back viewers

Neighbours has failed to win back viewers in Australia after its much-hyped relaunch in July.

Producers gave the 22-year-old show a revamp to halt a fall in ratings, including new scripts, a new family and a return to "heart-wrenching family drama". Its famous theme tune was also re-recorded.

However, the soap has not attracted a substantially larger audience, despite cameos from celebrities such as Emma Bunton, Michael Parkinson and Little Britain stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

It is now averaging about 801,000 viewers a night on Network Ten, just 3% more than prior to the relaunch. Rival soap Home and Away attracts an audience of over 1.4 million for Seven.

A Fusion Media analyst said producers Fremantle Media and Ten would not be happy with the ratings, telling Australia's Daily Telegraph: "At the time [of the relaunch], they were hoping for 900,000 to a million viewers." However, he added that Neighbours' audience share was "good" given its "tough" timeslot.

But the show is unlikely to be axed in Australia because of the large financial contribution it receives from Five in the UK. The channel paid around £300 million for the rights to the programme - which draws nearly six million viewers in its twice-daily slot on BBC One - in May this year.

Ten insisted it is standing by the show, saying it will take time for the changes to filter through and audience numbers to start climbing.

Neighbours will be shown on Five's main channel and digital service Five Life from 2008

It is a few weeks till sky and boyd leave i think.

Some of the acting in this week has been really dodgy this week, especialy by those who play Carmella and Ringo and to a lesser extent Rosie and Frazer, but the story lines have been good so far.

Posted by: Shoat Oct 17 2007, 05:29 PM

It was a tad silly of them to do the new credits before Sky and Boyd left, it's a pretty big clue to anyone who didn't already know

Currently in Australia, the big storlyine is Susan falling asleep at the wheel and unknowingly doing a hit and run on Bridget Parker. It's actually been done REALLY well, Jackie Woodbourne's been amazing, and it's really highlighted the difference made by the revamp. Last year the storyline would have been given 2/3 days out of the week, and would have been wrapped up within the month, and before you know it the Kennedys and the Parkers would be acting like nothing had ever happened. This time, they've devoted pretty much two solid weeks to the immediate aftermath, and it sounds like the repurcussions are going to last at least up until the season finale.

Acording to the neighbours website Ringo is going to develop an eating disorder, i can only think this is good as it usualy only shows it from a female perspecitve, especialy in newspapers and stuff.

Posted by: Shoat Oct 27 2007, 03:06 PM

Wasn't Kyal Marsh himself unhappy with the way Boyd went at the end (cheating on Janae, revenge schemes against Elle, pinning Harold Bishop to the wall, etc.)?

Posted by: T Boy Oct 27 2007, 08:39 PM

boyds always been pretty poo but he did have his moments. sky was a great character until this year. she went down hill afer giving burth to kerry/splitting up with dylan. she was only good gain when he was in prison.

1. Sky and Stingray were a terrible couple. not believable at all.
2. after he died she wouldn't shut up about him despite the fact they had only dated for about a month-and weren't believable.
3. terrence and caleb were practically the same 'won't shut up about stinger nonsense'.

to be fair it was time for these characters to go as the writers couldn't think of any good new storylines for them. Janell should never have gone tho!

Posted by: Shoat Oct 27 2007, 09:03 PM

Axing Janelle will probably remain their biggest mistake for years. Absolutely great character, and there really only explored the tip of her.

'Harold Bishop' quits 'Neighbours'

Veteran Neighbours star Ian Smith has quit the Australian soap after 20 years.

The actor has played coffee-shop owner Harold Bishop on and off since 1997 but is now retiring from his 30-year showbiz career.

He will film his final scenes this month but has agreed to return for a number of special appearances next year.

Smith, who was also an actor and scriptwriter on Prisoner, originally left Neighbours in 1991. He returned five years later when his character was seen suffering from amnesia.

One Neighbours insider called him "the heart and soul" of the programme, saying: "Ian really set the tone of the show, both on the set and behind the scenes."

They added: "As well as being a consummate professional, he's all about creating a positive vibe that brings the cast together. He will be very missed but at least he'll be back to say 'hi' next year."

Smith's exit is a further blow for the soap, which has failed to attract more viewers despite a much-hyped re-launch earlier this year.

Posted by: Shoat Nov 3 2007, 12:28 PM

Neighbours really is in trouble with their cast right now. No sooner have they just had one cast clear-out, and they've got another on their hands only months later. I make that Lyn, Katya, Boyd, Sky, Janelle, Bree, Janae, Pepper, Adam, Rosie, Fraser, Will, Harold, Lolly, Steiger, Max, Stingray and Dylan who will all have left/announced their departure this year alone.

For a soap with a cast of around 20-25, it's a bit of a disaster. Bet they're kicking themselves for axing Janelle now.

To be honest it would be better not coming back in the new year, might as well give the show a rest till April, as Channel 5 tend to screen Australian soaps on public and Xmas holidays

Saw the Aussie finale on YouTube, it's not bad at all, better than past finales.

Pretty much the entire teen gang (Zeke, Ringo, Declan, Bridget, Riley, Elle, and a few guest characters) end up buried when a roof caves in on an illegal nightclub, Libby and Karl also get trapped when they rush in to try and find Zeke, and from the looks of it Elle's in quite a serious condition.

Former Neighbours scriptwriter Susan Bower has been named as the Aussie soap's new executive producer.

Bower will take over from Ric Pellizzeri, who is bowing out after five years, when production resumes in the New Year.

Though the soap's recent revamp has failed to have the positive effect on Oz ratings that producers had hoped, Bower has insisted that she is confident about further changes which will be seen in 2008.

"I'm really excited to be working on an Australian icon," she revealed. "The talented people who have worked on the show for years have made significant changes which will bear fruit very soon."

"I have the greatest respect for serialised drama," Bower added. "I never call them soapies."

She'll be returning to UK screens very shortly. Seemingly as part of Susan's MS plot at first, though it eventually emerges that it has more to do with her relationship with Darren Stark than anything.

Having watched recent Aussie episodes, there really is such an improvement in quality between the show now and a year ago. Storylines that would have once been given 10 minutes are now been properly explored from all angles, with the reactions of EVRRY involved character being charted. The acting has improved a lot aswell. Aside from Dan O'Connor (Ned), there's not really one weak actor in the current cast. Even previously poor performers like Zeke, Elle and Carmella have come on in leaps and bounds.

Libby has come back, she's been very secretive about Darren but last night it came clear when we found out he'd cheated on her. He came back with flowers and tried to say sorry but it ended with Darren & Karl fighting in the street!

And some $h!t about the kid with the walking stick she's mad at that guy she kissed and he keeps putting cds in her locker. Boring, that bit.

Oooh, and janae made a volcano with Mickey. Gripping, no? laugh.gif

Jackie Woodbyrne never gives less imo. Even when she's given a background role in a storyline she still performs to her fullest. Amazing actress.

ahhh yup i got where its at right now!

there's some fairly juicy-ish stuff coming!

dont read this if you dont wanna know

Rachel, Zeke, Taylor, Jess, Bridget and Declan go to an illegal dance party, (but they say they're going to an all night movie marathon), where the roof collapses and one of them dies... Jess... In the collapse Elle and Riley get caught up in it coz they go to cover it, but their boss doesn't know...
But Rachel doesn't go, And meets up with Angus instead... she goes back to the cinema (which in real life is my local cinema) to meet Frazer, like they all planned to after the party, but at this point neither realises about the collapse... The whole Angus/Rachel things gets exposed... and things go from there!

thats all i'll say tho!! if u wanna know more, pm me and i'll try get back to ya, but i'm going on holidays from tomorrow so i may not get back to ya for a coupla weeks!

rofl yeah the volcano janae made with mickey is enthralling stuff!

random fact, the kids that play mickey and ben are brothers in real life that live the next suburb over from me!

This Dean Geyer chap is another failed reject from an Australian Idol. YAWN. When will they learn? You'd think Ned would have taught them by now to hire ACTORS not singers.

Marco died in the fire... and jay lit and and goes all psycho like and stabs steph...

Kirsten got very very badly burnt... And coz her burns are so bad and Erinsborough aint exactly the best place for Kirsten to recover, her and Ned (and i daresay mickey too) move to Perth, coz the Burns unit there's heaps good (in real life it actually is, one of the hospitals in perth was where they sent alot of the Bali bombing victims)... but yee, thats what Dan told me at a mates bday party at the start of may... he finished filming in the last week or april...

rachel gets a letter from angus... she's reluctant to open it, but then does and he asks her to visit him in jail... susan aint too happy but decides to support rachel and go with her... angus declares his love for her and she says she'll wait for him...

Considering how AWFUL she was when she first hit the screen, it's a sign of how far Elle has come in the past year that it's her who is extracting the sympathy in this storyline, more so than even Rebecca for me.
Of all the changes brought in by the revamp, the improvement of Elle has perhaps been the most effective.

The Bush Fire episode has kicked off today, best episode for a long time. Looking forward to tomorrow's, I wish the channel stop posting the trailers for it though.

Posted by: Shoat Sep 18 2008, 11:34 PM

I said it before, but the bush fire was excellent.

Neighbours went through an GREAT phase earlier this year (Susan's MS, the roof collapse, Libby/Darren/Ned/Janae, Rachel/Angus, Carmella's traumatic birth), but it slowly started drifting back to tedium. It's badly missing Janae and Harold, and the majority of the new characters like Ty and Sienna are just far too BLAND and POINTLESS for words (although I think there's potential in Nicola and Donna). But this bush fire plot does bring it back to it's peak again. And it leads up to Ned's departure, ABOUT BLOODY TIME.

Posted by: Kid Justice Rob Sep 23 2008, 09:06 PM

stuff at the mo'

Donna's dad did a runner, coz he's a crooked cop, and Donna now lives with Elle at the Robinsons.
Donna and Ringo take their relationship to the next level, only to be caught by Lucas and Elle.
Dan proposes to Libby.
Ty hurts his hand in a footy match and is worried he might not be able to play guitar ever again.
One Ramsay Street teen thinks she's pregnant, but who? Its either Donna, Rachel or Bridget.
Elle buys a car that turns out to be a dud, and the ramifications of the whole thing are pretty insane.

A little late, but I have to agree that the baby plot has been done quite well. I liked that it ended up getting pretty much everyone and his dog involved. And I'm actually beginning to appreciate Bridget. Anyone 18 year old who can hold down a job on TV with granny hair, whilst also getting to shag James Sorensen has got to have something going for her.

Oh, and it has to also be said that these days Elle really is all sorts of FABULOUSNESS.

Elle is beautiful though she always looks good, clothes, style wub.gif

Posted by: T Boy Apr 7 2009, 05:55 PM

I can't wait for that. Frankly I hate those characters unless the storyline ISN'T about them.

Anyone else hate the fact Sam showed up again evil? She was one of my favourite characters in the first stint so why ruin her? I'll admit they've toned down her villainy recently but it would have been much better if she'd shown up pregnant without an agenda.

I actually quite enjoyed the beginning of the Didge pregnancy plot, I thought that was done well the way that somehow pretty much everyone got dragged into it at some point (Elle having to play the big sis, the school protest with Rebecca chaining herself to the hot head, Libby and Dan getting suspended from work because of Susan's article, etc).
The Didge getting run over was also done well, although that was mainly to do with Susan than anyone else.

I haven't taken Sam to be evil on her return, I think she's just a bit screwed up; she's now pregnant and has all of that to deal with on top of her bipolar disorder.

I was mainly thinking of the Chris Knight storyline which was dreadful. I'm pretty sure now that Sam was probably brought back to push back Libby's wedding until Kym Valentine came back. Because I have noticed neither Libby nor Dan has spent large amounts of screentime with Sam since. Its like the story has been forgotten. But as long as Sam's not a bad guy I'm happy.

Posted by: MelissaSaturday Apr 21 2009, 04:39 AM

mmmm the Chris Knight storyline was a of bs....

Guy Sykes comes back for money that her extorted from Katya (Zeke's oldest sis) and takes Callum and Toadie hostage...
Sass causes more troubles and it turns out her stalker is Donna...

thats about all the big-ish stuff thats a going on over here right now...

mmm, i'm glad that the parkers are leaving too! i can't stand Miranda!! but there's been no word on what happens with Mickey yet... guess we'll ahve to wait and see!

Thank god for that, which means Dec breaks up with Bridget.

Does Zeke eventually turns up, as the story is getting long winded now and boring.

Zeke does turn up, albeit with amnesia, and a bizarre new hard-man attitude. He beats Ringo up I believe.

Well, I was very disappointed with how the Sam/Dan/Libby story ended. Complete ruination of a great character imo. I'll miss Sam.

Does anyone else hate Steph at the moment? I'm sick of seeing her. Her current storyline is awful. I want more Elle, Lucas, Donna and Rebecca.

Steph's a bitch. I'm pleased the parkers are getting axed. They are so annoying pirate.gif Apart from Bridget who seems to be a really good actress. Just my view. Also get rid of Callum, he's so annoying sad.gif

Steph is acting quite out of character at the moment, I'm not sure what's going on there. It doesn't help that the writers haven't really bothered to show us ANY redeeming features to this Greg guy to demonstrate why Steph's so easily turned by him.

Agree with you on Elle, Lucas, Donna and Rebecca. Definitely the four "on-form" characters at the moment.

Callum reminds me so much of Toadie when he was younger himself, surprised Ryan Maloney who plays the character has evolved during the years he has been on the show.

Posted by: Shoat Apr 24 2009, 10:46 PM

Toadie is a one of soap's most under-rated characters. When you think about it, he's a very well-rounded character, quite at home with the serious, the comic, the tragic, anything thrown at him pretty much.
When he first started as the feral teen, who'd have guessed he'd go on to become one of the show's big mainstays, and a lawyer/adoptive father?

Posted by: T Boy Apr 25 2009, 03:21 PM

Ah, Toadie, yes, another on-form character. Shame Kelly left though.

Posted by: Shoat Apr 26 2009, 11:47 PM

Kelly was marvellous. Why they didn't snap her up on a permanent contract I do not know. Infinitely better character and better acting than a lot of the current cast at the moment.

Kelly/Toadie/Callum could easily have gone on to become the next classic Neighbours family really.

Posted by: MelissaSaturday Apr 28 2009, 01:55 AM

yaaaaa zeke comes back with amnesia, and doesnt know who anyone is, but recognises rachel.... yeah he has a bit of a punch up with ringo... and assumes the identity of 'lost boy', a radio DJ, and no1 knows who it is... but Libby and dan find out

HUZZAH MICKEY IS LEAVING. that kid sh!ts me!

Donnas mother leaves this week over here. THANK GOD SHE IS SO ANNOYING. you'll see when she comes into it...

no word yet about what happens between dec and didge when the parkers leave... nothings been said as far as i know over here.... but the most likely thing would be that they break up.....

End of a legend Harold Bishop sob.gif sob.gif sob.gif

Posted by: T Boy May 1 2009, 07:34 PM

I would have been more touched by Harold's exit if hadn't been as similar as his 'exit' last year. Apparently this also marks the point where Lou do a Harold and appear only part time.

Posted by: Shoat May 1 2009, 10:43 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if Tom Oliver also followed Ian Smith's lead in leaving for good within the next year or so. Aside from how long he's been on the show for, Lou has been completely sidelined for the past 5 years, and there is little sign of that changing.

Posted by: LiamDeBarge May 3 2009, 05:07 PM

Posted by: Shoat May 4 2009, 09:10 PM

ANY story involving Rachel and Ty tends to be bad and cringey. Especially when they wheel out Unforgettable every single episode.
I wouldn't mind if the song was anything special, but it really isn't, like a bad Taylor Swift B-side.

The woman whose kids have run away from her, the woman trying to take down Rebecca Napier, the woman who took photos of Libby collapsing? Steph, you idiot.

btw is it wrong for a man of 20 like myself to find Rebecca hot?

Nope, i think she would ok as in fanciable ways too biggrin.gif

Posted by: Shoat Jun 6 2009, 09:37 PM

Rebecca is rather attractive, very stylish I think.

On Steph; I don't think she necessarily likes Cass, it's her personal feelings on Paul that are driving this.
To be fair, Cass hasn't been caught out doing anything HUGELY wrong yet other than being a bitch. Paul has murdered, has conned, has burnt buildings down to the ground, has cheated and used, has been aggressive, held Steph's ex-husband at gun point, and driven her mother out of town. It's not hard to see why she's taken the attitude she has.

As an aside, I'm glad Elle/Lucas finally seem to be settling down. There's only so long you can drag a will-they/won't-they thing out before you lose interest.

Is Sonny staying around does anybody know, I don't want to go searching around the internet incase I come across spoilers!

Posted by: T Boy Jun 15 2009, 10:12 AM

Sunny is permanent for now, she features in the current aussie credits which should be arriving here in the UK shortly.

Posted by: Shoat Jun 15 2009, 09:10 PM

I'm not keen on Sunny already, she seems like a whiny old cow.

And this Lost Boy stuff is very tedious. "Oh my god, I said some stuff to a DJ on a radio station so now I've got to stalk him lolz". Zeke has improved dramatically as a character in recent months, but this plot is just a total bore.

Posted by: T Boy Jun 16 2009, 10:00 AM

I don't really mind Sunny, I think she has potential and she's supposed to be winding everyone up the wrong way. Don't even mind Lost Boy either-but one thing confuses me, how did Ringo know where the station was? I thought it was all supposed to be secret.

Mickey was great in yesterday's ep. He never gets used anymore so I was quite happy to see him.

I used to love him, but they've turned him into an annoying little brat!

Callum FTW! yahoo.gif

Posted by: T Boy Jun 17 2009, 08:25 AM

Since this stolen money has made its way to the police anyway, why couldn't Zeke hand it in earlier? And he and Toadie must be so slow. They are in the same room as Elle when she announces she'll write the story and they decide to stop her, and yet they wait until she's written it and sent it to print to confront her? She's either a really quick writer or Toadie and Zeke thought they had all the time in the world. Doesn't make sense.

Posted by: Mart!n Jun 17 2009, 09:13 AM

One thing that gets me, Toadie has got a bullet lodged inside his body somewhere, you would have thought by now the bullet has moved with all the wrestling he does

Posted by: T Boy Jun 17 2009, 11:59 AM

How rubbish a character was Katya Kinski though? she's been gone 2 years and still manages to cause everyone grief!

Posted by: Shoat Jun 17 2009, 10:48 PM

Does Toadie actually still do the wrestling thing? I thought he was just doing the lawyer/foster dad biz now?

Posted by: T Boy Jun 18 2009, 08:30 AM

He sometimes wrestles with Callum. I'm not liking the Guy Sykes stuff because it makes no sense. I did a little research, and last time Guy was around he searched the whole allotment and found nothing. He was also expecting 100 grand not 20 grand. And Katya firmly told everyone that she lied about ever having the money so she could meet Guy and shoot him. I'm gonna pretend that this stuff is just all a dream.

Brett Tucker aka Fitzy has quit. Will be finishing filming in september. Poor Libby.

Posted by: Shoat Jun 19 2009, 08:16 PM

Might want to put spoiler tags on that one.

And aswell as that Pippa Black's departure has also been announced, which for me is FAR more upsetting. Elle's become one of the show's best characters in the past year. So much improvement since the awful Paul/Elle evil duo pantomime days.

Posted by: T Boy Jun 20 2009, 09:37 AM

I'm actually really gutted about those two departures! Its like that time 2 years agos where EVERY decent character quit almost at once!

Yes, Zeke has been a bit temperamental really. But this has actually been done deliberately, and is leading up to a plot that is just starting off in Australia right now. There is an explanation for Zeke's behaviour...

FURTHER SPOILER TIDBITS

Lyn turns up and halts the Paul/Rebecca wedding. Lyn and Paul are actually still officially married, and Lyn refuses to give Paul a divorce unless she pays him off. Even more amusing is a catfight that erupts between Lyn and Rebecca in the street.

Elle and Lucas split up AGAIN, when the truth about Lucas' gambling addiction comes out. Elle's revenge is to buy the garage, demote Lucas, and then write an article naming him as the cause of Didge's death.

Toadie gets a new love interest. BOO as I wanted Kelly back.

Kelly should really come back wub.gif She was better than half the current characters. Although I think its a shame that Didge is gonna die, as she's imporved a lot over the last few months (I couldn't stand her at all for ages!) and longer hair and normal clothes have made her look vaguely female.

As for the Ramseys, I like Kate and Sophie, but I just can't get into Harry. He looks a bit creepy tbh.

More Donna please wub.gif

BAD NEWS PEOPLE

Summer Hoyland will be returning next year.

GOOD NEWS PEOPLE

Summer Hoyland has also been recast, so we are spared that horribly precocious brat from the bad old days

Posted by: T Boy Oct 15 2009, 03:24 PM

I'm not sure about this recast as we knew the old Summer quite well. And she's been de-aged to fit into Harry's year. Since she used to hang out with Zeke, won't this be odd?

I just hope we have less surrogacy storyline. Man, this is annoying me. And couldn't Didge's death have just been a tragic accident. Why is it in Neighbours someone has to be blamed for everything. Lucas and Elle are the best couple going (Besides Karl and Susan of course!) so why are they gonna break up and none of the lame couples (Libby and Dan, I'm looking at you!!!)

Posted by: Shoat Oct 15 2009, 08:29 PM

Elle/Lucas are an inspired pairing, and like you say, certainly more interesting than Libby and Dan. (In fact, I'm quite looking forward to Brett Tucker leaving as he's just TOO dull for words, and he really drags Libby down..

I'm actually quite enjoying the rammifications of Didge's death - it's had repurcussions on pretty much EVERYONE. Declan, Rebecca, the Parkers, Lucas, Elle, Steph, the teen squad etc. Neighbours had been lacking a big storyline so this was perfect.

Posted by: T Boy Oct 17 2009, 03:27 PM

I like ramifications involving everyone, its just the blame thing really-guilt I can understand but I'm slightly sick of people looking to blame someone all the time. I'm also sick of Ramsay street residents waking up in the morning and strolling across the street with a newspaper in their hand ready to shout at someone. A couple of years ago that almsot never happened. We're lucky to get a day without it these days.

Posted by: Shoat Oct 18 2009, 12:05 AM

I don't mind that. Although like you say every day the paper is stirring up some trouble and causing outrage, but that DOES also mean more Robinson drama every day, and that is only a good thing. Elle and Paul have been the best thing about Neighbours for the last couple of years.

Posted by: T Boy Oct 18 2009, 08:00 AM

True. Its not Elle or Paul who annoy me. I don't like to say it but its the Kennedys (but more specifically Dan and Libby)

Posted by: Shoat Oct 21 2009, 08:50 PM

The Kennedys have pretty much become the centre of the show since they toned down Evil Paul a couple of years ago, and I don't mind too much. Karl and Susan I still think are great - the actors really do work wonderfully together, by far one of the best partnerships in soap.
Libby and Zeke are both decent characters aswell, but unfortunately they've both been partnered with utter DULLARDS in Dan and Sunny, and it really drags them down.

Although Neighbours is going through a good patch at the moment, I still think the cast could be improved upon. It's very much a case of two extremes.
Half of the characters are genuinely wonderful like Paul, Elle, Susan and Karl - I'd also throw in the likes of Toadie, Steph, Rebecca, Declan, Lucas, Donna, and Callum (who is the best child star they've had in YONKS if not ever).
But the other half is simply DREADFUL, populated by personality-free blandfests - see Dan, Sunny, Ringo and the Ramsays. The Ramsays I guess probably just need time to settle in, but I think the main issue is that the show is becoming massively dominated by the teens. Having snuck a peek at some of the Aussie episodes, there are quite a few coming up that COMPLETELY focus on teens with no adult characters appearing.
We have 10 characters who are teens or children - which is pretty much half of the entire cast, and that's completely out of proportion. The producers seem to be steering the show down the Grange Hill route, and that's NOT good.

Posted by: T Boy Oct 22 2009, 05:04 PM

You're right, Neighbours has definitely come along way in the last year or so. Some characters they brought in a couple of years ago (Parkers, Dan,etc.) I wasn't too happy with but Lucas, Donna and Callum all debuted about a year and a bit ago and have all brought life back.

I wouldn't put Steph up with the great characters at the moment (admittedly I've quite liked her recently) but she was pretty awful for the first half of the year and I haven't been as keen with Libby as I used to be. I think a lot of this has to do with the storylines they're being given and how they're being written. Steph at least needs a GOOD storyline not just a lastest boyfriend she has no chemistry with.

Posted by: Shoat Oct 22 2009, 09:11 PM

Steph has been through a bit of a slump - the AWFULNESS that was Greg really damaged her character I think - not only was she behaving in a most out-of-character way, but Greg was a bland knobcheese with no redeeming features - I don't find it believable at all that Steph would even have contemplated it.

I can't help but feel Steph has regressed as a character. A couple of years back she was the owner of the new posh bar, she was a councillor, she'd just got with Toadie, was playing the doting stepmum to Boyd and Janae, she had ber best friend back, she was punching Paul in the gob... And now she's a single apprentice mechanic working for peanuts who will soon be seen living back with her mum. It's like they moved her into becoming the central figure in the show, then changed their minds and have now pushed her into the sidelines.

I do think they can pull it back though - when they do it right Steph IS great. My guess is that when Elle leaves, Lucas will be paired up with Steph, which could be a nice little pairing.

Spoilers suggest not. He and Libby will break up; things start going wrong soon when he goes off to visit Sam, and he then falls out with the entire Kennedy clan, and Lucas/Elle. He eventually tries to make Libby choose between them and moving away with him! Bit of a character transplant it seems.

So Lyn Scully's return? what did everyone think. I love having her back but wasn't so happy with the Rebecca feud. I mean, we need a good feud but this one didn't make much sense since the two characters seemed to get on 18 months ago. Still wish Oscar could be back.

Did they get on though? Was the last time they met not when Lyn was using Paul's cheating on Rebecca as blackmail material?

I think I like this new mad nutter Lyn, but it's difficult at the moment to reconcile her with the bubbly housewife she was only a few years ago. Perhaps they need to bring back JOE.

That was what happened but iirc, Rebecca was grateful to learn of the affair and stop her making a mistake, and Lyn also said she didn't think Rebecca deserved Paul cheating on her.

No chance they'll ever get Joe back. He would have to be recast. I'm quite loving new insane Lyn. I just love that I'm getting my fill of 'Stephyyyy' again.

Bitch Lyn is growing on me - it's nice continuity I guess that they didn't completely forget how Lyn was in her last few months before she left first time around - the relationship with Paul had made her a bit more sneaky and ruthless.

Posted by: T Boy Nov 5 2009, 03:56 PM

I quite like it. She's properly shaking things up, its reminiscent of when Sam returned.

Not liking Donna atm (can't believe I'm saying this!) I had a bad feeling about the 'trying to find her dad' storyline and its just so obvious this 'brother' is a faker. Why are the writers doing this to her?

My goodness I can't stand hearing anymore more about this stupid Deb! Hopefully it'll all be over tomorrow!

Posted by: Shoat Jan 13 2010, 09:30 PM

The Deb malarky is easily the WORST storyline if recent years. Not because it's bad as such, but because SO much time has been given over to it.

It's something that should have been little more than a comedy sub-plot in a couple of episodes, but they've stretched it out over WEEKS, and even devoted ENTIRE episodes to it in the run-up. And some of the plot developments were GOD-AWFUL - the Sunny's-being-a-cow-because-she-can't-dance was a particular lowpoint.
It doesn't help that in the teen group, the only ones I have even a passing interest in are Donna, Declan and Zeke. The others are either bland or plain rubbish.

There's apparantly a growing dissatisfaction amongst fans with the producer, Susan Bower, because she has placed such emphasis on the teen group at the expense of the older (and more talented) cast.

I completely agree, I was thinking the same thing myself earlier ohmy.gif why the hell has so much time been wasted on this utter mediocrity?

Posted by: This Time Jan 14 2010, 12:51 AM

How annoying has Declan become, hes a complete tit, i really cant stand those Ramsay kids either especially Kate shes even more annoying than the late dire Didge!

Posted by: T Boy Jan 14 2010, 08:41 PM

Donna has grown on me again (I was VERY disappointed with her 'brother' storyline). Any scene with her or Lyn at the moment is great. I'm loving the Lyn/Lou banter.

The Deb is over thank goodness. So annoyed with Dan. Whose he to say Lucas and Elle are rushing their relationship, he who was engaged to Libby about a week or two after they actually got together?

Posted by: Shoat Jan 14 2010, 10:04 PM

I now LOVE Bitch Lyn - with Elle off soon, Lyn will have to be the show's new saviour. I didn't think I'd be saying that 5 years ago when she was a dull housewife with bad fashion sense.

Posted by: T Boy Jan 28 2010, 04:25 PM

Elle's gone cry.gif its mad to think she's been around for 4 years, she has definitely improved a lot in this time. It feels too soon, but thats probably cos they took their time giving her something useful to do instead of fawn over Oliver. Lucas and Donna really brought something out of the character. She'll definitely be missed.

At least I still have Bitch Lyn.

Elle was utterly abysmal in her first couple of years - the writers could never decide what they wanted her to be - one minute she was Queen Bitch, then she was poor lost little girl, then she was blowing up fruit vans, then she was a $l*t, then she was sweetness and light, then sharp-minded businesswoman. It was all over the place. It didn't help that she kept changing her partner every two months. The love triangle with Oliver and Carmella was also rather dull.

But Elle benefited more than anyone after the 2007 revamp. They finally settled on a character (bitch with a heart), started giving her some great comedy lines, got her settled in an interesting job with plenty of scope for plots, and gave her a couple of interesting relationships; Riley and then Lucas which REALLY worked wonders. Adopting Donna was a masterstroke aswell.

I will miss her.

Posted by: T Boy Feb 11 2010, 09:50 PM

I can't believe we went through that God-awful surrogacy storyline and ended up with no baby. Although that development was probably out of the writer's hands due to certain actors's decisions. And its made me dislike the kennedys which I never thought would be possible!

and Sunny's gone. This is probably good news to most, but her and Zeke have really grown on me in recent weeks.

Posted by: Shoat Feb 11 2010, 10:17 PM

Yep, I'm in the THANK f*** Sunny left camp. She never did ANYTHING but whinge, be rude, and throw tantrums about the slightest of things. WELL RID.

Basically, they ad the surrogacy storyline. I wasnt a fan of it (its put me off the Kennedys a bit actually which was previously thought to be impossible) but it was a strong storyline which was bound to provide good moments. However one of the actors involved (I'd love to say who but the spoiler button isn't working-not that people can't work it out anyway!) quit and so the storyline had to end like this unfortunately and now one well loved character and another dull but inoffensive one have to sacrifice their character's likability in order for this to work. I hate this development. If it weren't for Lyn, Lou, Rebecca and Paul I'd be off Neighbours by now. Yes, even my beloved Donna has been rubbish recently.

Posted by: Shoat Feb 17 2010, 12:20 AM

I'm going the same way with Neighbours, I'm fast getting bored.
Having said that, I don't mind the Kennedy storyline - I like that you can actually see it from both points of view, it's not the usual black and white this-character-is-wrong-this-one-is-right affair. Susan's always been a bit interfering and gets on her moral high horse from time to time, so it's not too out of character for her to behave like this where Libby is concerned. At the same time, you can understand Dan's frustration with being constantly outnumbered by his in-laws.

I don't like it how it came literally out of nowhere though. I mean, just months ago, Dan and Susan seemed to be getting on really well. And given how Dan was built up as all honourable and a family man, I just don't like how they've totally undone all that within a few weeks. In fact, the Neighbours writers generally seem to have not given much thought to plot development at all lately... with the election of the f***ing 'Deb Ball' saga, which they dragged out for ages. I wouldn't be surprised if the preparations for the Deb lasted longer than Dan & Libby's entire marriage.

Posted by: Shoat Feb 17 2010, 02:12 AM

I think Dan being an honourable family man was part of the problem - it was him bailing Sam out that sparked off the whole mess. I don't think anybody is really acting out of character, it's just an awkward situation that is spiralling out of control.

The 6 month long Deb ball nonsense will remain a STAIN on Neighbours history. They need to sort out this ridiculous imbalance between teen characters / others.
Aswell as the current lot, we will also have Paul Robinson's teenage son joining, and Summer Hoyland returning in the next few months.

That will leave us with 8 teens and 3 kids. OVERLOAD.

Posted by: T Boy Feb 17 2010, 06:14 PM

The teen thing is going over the top. Thing is, there is the perfect opportunity to bring in a new family right now. I know Lucas is crashing at Steph's old place, but he can't live there forever. But from what I've heard Susan Bower will not be bringing in any new families in 2010, just characters connected to others which just screams more teens at me. The worst is that its been manouvered so that all other characters have a teen living with them. Yes, adopting a teen worked for Elle, but will it for Steph? I'm not sure.

5 years ago the street had six teen characters (Boyd, Sky, Stingray, Serena, Dylan, Janae) plus two early teens (Bree and Summer).

We had several 20-30 year olds (Steph, Toadie, Izzy, Stuart, Connor, Carmella, Sindi)

Quite a lot of middle-aged characters (Karl, Susan, Lyn, Max, Janelle, David, Liljana, Paul)

two oldies (Harold and Lou-plus they still got screentime back then!)

and little toddler Oscar

And they were all pretty evenly spread about (well, perhaps the Timmins's was a bit teen overload but they were good characters so it didn't matter). I think we had more characters in general back then. And NO DEBS!

Posted by: Shoat Feb 18 2010, 01:57 AM

Without a doubt the cast was stronger 5 years ago, and as you've highlighted because there was a decent spread.

Right now I make it 8 teens, 3 kids, NO 20-somethings now Elle has left, 4 30-somethings (Libby/Steph/Toadie/Lucas), and 5 oldies (the Kennedys, Lyn, Paul, Rebecca - I'm not counting Lou as he is barely around anymore). Ridiculous.

I have no doubt you're right about Susan Bower - more teens. I can only assume she's trying to directly compete with Home and Away, which has always had an established bias towards the teens. But that was never supposed to be the point with Neighbours. She is slowly burying the show.

Posted by: T Boy Feb 18 2010, 08:29 AM

True, we still had a lot of teens 5 years ago, not as much but also the storylines didn't revolve around them completely. Dylan would be involved with Paul, Sky with Harold/Lou, Boyd with max/Steph. THey'd have their own storylines but it wouldn't all be about them like it is now.

I'm so glad Lyn Scully poisoned the stupid Deb. She hasn't put a foot wrong since she got back laugh.gif

Really NOT liking the Toadie/Steph lie-so many holes in that plot.

I like the new Summer, but I'm having a hard time trying to think of her as the same character from years before.

Posted by: gooddelta Apr 7 2010, 06:24 PM

Lyn's the only reason I still watch this show to be honest. Her comeback is to Neighbours is what Carol's is to Eastenders. I thought both would step back into the sidelines but no, after years of wilderness it's like they were never went away with many major storylines revolving around both of them, and deservedly so!

Yeah, I agree with both these... Steph and Toadie can't lie forever... On the bright side, Donna's back cheer.gif

Posted by: T Boy Apr 7 2010, 09:29 PM

Yes, Donna is back and finally Ringo-less. Hopefully she'll get some good storylines again, I felt her last few were a bit lacklustre.

And completely agree about Lyn, who'd have expected her comeback to be so great? Any storyline with her and Rebecca/Paul is worth watching-Neighbours as it should be!

Posted by: Shoat Apr 7 2010, 10:36 PM

Lyn's re-invention I muchly like. She's not a TOTAL cow - she's still a decent mother and friend to Steph, Susan et all. But she's no longer a shrinking violet when it comes to confrontation, which is quite believable after marriage to Paul Robinson.

I actually think the Steph/Toadie mess is actually the best thing in the show at the moment. A big storyline involving long-running adult characters, which you KNOW is going to cause an almighty blow-up when the truth inevitably comes out. Of course it's not without the plot holes - everyone bar Lyn and Callum being rather gullible about it all, the ease with which Toadie has been seemingly able to chuck his "love" Sonya aside, the rather rapid speed with which Lucas got over Elle and moved onto Steph...

I guess I'm just glad for something that isn't TEEN. Unfortunately Ringo's departure is only a temporary one. I'm sure there'll be PLENTY of Donna/Ringo angst to come.

I agree with all those but I still feel something is missing in the storyline. There was no reason Toadie HAD to pretend to be the father. Steph could have gone away, had a one night stand with a random character and found she was pregnant. There was no reason for Toadie to be involved. I'd prefer it better if he secretly had hidden feelings for Steph and that is why he's so willing to help her out. Afterall his 'relationship' with Sonya always seemed quite forced and as you say, there is no way Lucas could break up with his fiance and be 'in love' with someone else the next week. Its a good storyline essentially but I think the timing is a little off (although with Dan's exit, it couldn't really be helped). But as you say at least no TEEN is involved.

Posted by: Shoat Apr 10 2010, 11:44 PM

Well yes I suppose that is also a crucial hole. Quite why Toadie felt the need to step forward at all I don't know.

I can only imagine it's down to Steph not wanting to claim she slept with a random and be seen as a $l*t. But I don't see that being seen as a love cheat is any better. It's bizarre.

Apparantly Neighbours' ratings are falling ever further in Australia - surely it can't be long before Susan Bower is out the door? They BADLY need to re-address the spread of characters. With Lou taking a backseat, we're missing some oldies. And there's a MASSIVE lack of any 20-somethings.

Posted by: T Boy Apr 11 2010, 10:16 AM

I can't see Bower staying for long. I actually laughed the other day because the only characters between 20 and 40 (and there are NONE between 20 and 30) are Lucas, Toadie, Steph and Libby and Libby is the only one whose speaking to all the others. I guess some of the teens are nearing their 20s but it would still be nice for some characters around my age in the show.

Posted by: Shoat Apr 11 2010, 11:18 AM

When you look at it this way, it's pretty damning.

40+ Paul, Rebecca, Lou, Lyn, Karl, Susan
20-40 Toadie, Steph, Libby, Lucas
20- Declan, Donna, Andrew, Harry, Kate, Ringo, Zeke, Summer, Callum, Ben, Sophie, Charlie

It has become Grange Hill

Posted by: T Boy Apr 12 2010, 11:45 AM

It looks awful. Eastenders has a plague of teens right now but the difference is that they have the adults to balance it out. The fact that the Ramsays are all teens living alone (I hardly think Lou counts-he lived with them a couple of weeks before going on a break) is just unrealistic. And I can't help but think that Summer coming back was just a way to give Lyn a teen to interact with.

Posted by: T Boy Apr 14 2010, 02:19 PM

Having been disappointed in the Toadie/Steph storyline, I love it now. It was great yesterday and a shame that it was only a tiny part of the episode because everything else was devoted to Kate and Declan mush sick2.gif

Yes I'd heard about that. Libby will chase her out of town, she did the same to Janae and Sam for less. Rumour is the exit has come after the actor's disappointment with the current storyline and I'm not at all surprised. I'm enjoying it, but its all a bit ludicrous really and the reasons behind some of the deception are incredibly weak.

I'm currently worrying about Lyn's future in the show and hoping Kate and Declan will be run over next week.

I know, but I like the pattern that a black mark against Libby results in a character's departure. Libby was actually one of the nicest towards Janae at the time.

And what is it with Neighbours not being able to say the word sex, or any other variation? I know its an early timeslot, and it usually doesn't bother me but throught all this Kate/Declan stuff, I'm sick of 'we haven't' or 'we need some alone alone time'.

Andrew is a great character, its just a shame he can't even breathe the right way when Declan's around. I think the characters turned on him too quickly with the usually compassionate Rebecca not even bothering to try to like him, all her efforts have seemed half-hearted.

Looks like Neighbours could have major issues in the future.

QUOTE
Neighbours has been cut from Channel Ten's schedule.

The long-running Australian soap, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will move to Ten's new digital channel Eleven when the network launches next year. The new station will target the youth market of 13 to 29-year-olds.

Chief of programming David Mott told ABC: "Neighbours is an important and cherished member of the Network Ten family. We believe Neighbours is perfectly suited to Eleven's audience strategy and will find a successful and enduring home on Eleven.

"We will round out the first 25 years with a bang, and give Australia's most successful drama a new home to keep it vibrant in the schedule for the next 25."

CEO of the show's production company Ian Hogg added: "Just as Neighbours forged new territory for Ten in 1986, so we will again for Eleven in 2011. We are very proud of the faith being placed in Neighbours and the key role we will be playing in Eleven's launch and lineup.

"Our storyline plans for 2011 are both bold and dramatic. Neighbours fans have much to look forward to for many years to come."

Neighbours will continue to air in its usual 6.30pm timeslot when it makes the move to the new channel.

When i read thos first on digital spy i was sure it was axed full stop then i read it will be moved to another channel, it will be interesting to see how this works out for neighbours.

Posted by: Shoat Aug 26 2010, 10:42 PM

They can dress it up however they want, but that to be sounds like the beginning of the end. It's like the BBC relegating a show from BBC One to BBC Three and trying to claim to displayed the "faith" in that show and it's brand. Nonsense.

Neighbours has a lot of problems right now.

Having said that, I think that's true of ALL soaps. Home And Away doesn't get the viewers it did 15 years ago, Hollyoaks is desperately trying to recover from a near-disastrous slump, The Bill's been axed, and every day there's news of a long-running soap being axed in the US. The format's dying I think.

Posted by: Jark Aug 26 2010, 11:00 PM

The three main British soaps are proof that if a soap can maintain quality over a period of time it needn't worry. It can be afforded dips in quality that might last a few months, even a year or so, because it's inevitable that it will get back on track. The viewers know this and so they stick with it.

Neighbours' problem (see also Hollyoaks) is that the people at the top aren't listening to what the fans are saying about why it's up shit creek. Really the networks are to blame for employing an exec producer and giving them free reign to damage the show's credibility beyond repair. At least with Hollyoaks, C4 uprooted Lucy Allan after barely a year (although the new guy doesn't look to be up to much either currently). Amazingly Ten have let Susan Bower stay on for what, three years now?, despite the fact that EVERYBODY is calling for her removal/a revamp. What can they expect is they don't tackle the problem head on?

Posted by: Aphrodite Aug 27 2010, 12:02 AM

Neighbours is definitly in trouble and has been for some time, which is sad really as years ago it was unmissable, but it just slipped and slipped and the channel never done alot about it. The UK audience for example audience is just around 1.5 million and even when it was on bbc it was about 3 million, in its hey day it had 17 million viewers a day, although all the soaps dont reach the audience they once did they still manage decent ratings.

Hollyoaks and Neighbours and Home and Away to an extent are all in some trouble, with Hollyoaks at the moment there seems to be huge work going into saving it, i dont think the same is happening with Neighbours.

Well no, because Susan Bower simply refuses to accept there are any problems. Having said that, Neighbours HAS got a little better recently with the Libby/Toadie/Steph and the Paul storylines hotting up. More focus away from the teen squad.

There are spoilers in this post but the spoiler button isn't working for me so don't read it if you don't want to know and if anyone could edit the spoilers in for me that would be appreciated.

One of the biggest problems is that there aren't enough characters to keep it interesting. By the end of the year we'll lose Steph, Ringo, Donna and Ben (presumably Charlie too and Diana won't stay forever) and we are only gaining Sonya as a regular leaving a main cast of 19 which is incredibly small and overfilled with boring teens. Lucas never has much to do these days and I got so annoyed that he's just been hanging out with Ringo and Donna the last couple of days because he seems a bit too old for hanging out with them (at least he talks to Mike these days though). And I find a lot of characters these days a bit 2 dimensional. Libby for example is too self righteous to the point where she never makes mistakes of her own and so I can't relate to her the way I used to. Andrew on the other hand can never do anything right, and acts so weirdly so that all the other characters have more reason to hate him. I've been particularly disappointed that Rebecca has had it in for him since day one with only sporadic half-hearted attempts to get on with him-and I had her in the running for the next Susan! And Paul treats him like an employee not a son, which is strange after the love he showed for Elle. Although I know the Paul stuff is going somewhere its still annoying.

We need a return to proper, well rounded characters like the very much missed ELLE ROBINSON.

end of spoilers.

Is Sonya definitely becoming a regular then? I hadn't heard about that. I'm glad though, she grew on me MASSIVELY through the whole Toadie/Steph debacle, having been a bit of a wet blanket until then.
I think the issues you mention with Libby and Lucas are being worked on - Libby does some not-particularly-nice things when she finds out about Steph/Dan, and also gets with Lucas which gives him a little more to do.
To be fair, Neighbours IS beginning to improve atm.

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree on Queen Elle.

The Sonya thing is definitely confirmed which I'm glad about too. And yes, Neighbours is getting better, but I still feel more characters are needed. Though, to me, getting rid of NuDeclan would help a lot.

I've seen the bit where Libby finds out the truth about Steph on YouTube, someone posted it on DS, I couldn't resist! It was a really good end, but it was only a small clip. I wish the full thing would air here, get this Steph/Toadie crap over and done with

True but they did this kind of storyline last year. Can't say I've been enjoying the fall out recently but it's certainly been good watching. And things are set to get even better towards the 6000th ep. Plus Neighbours is gaining a PG rating in 2011-so now characters will be able to say SEX!

Oh dear. Now Neighbours has been shunted to a digital channel in Australia, it seems like it's sparked off a cast exodus!
Steph, Donna, Ringo, Zeke, Declan and Rebecca will all be leaving over the next few months.

It had been confirmed before that Carla Bonner (Steph), Sam Clark (Ringo) and Margot Robbie (Donna) had all quit. Now Jane Hall (Rebecca) has quit saying she wants new "acting adventures" and Matt Werkmeister (Zeke) has quit wanting to pursue a TV production career. It's not been stated as so, but implied that Erin Mullally (Nu Declan) was axed rather than quit, presumably after Jane Hall's resignation.

A little worrying.

It was Rebecca Ritters

Posted by: JARK Nov 9 2010, 06:18 PM

I've been watching a few episodes of this here and there lately and surprisingly I found myself really enjoying it. As well as all of the old faces from years back I quite like Summer and Andrew... I don't think much of Declan, Kate or Zeke though.

Is it as bad as it has been or is it beginning to get on to the road to recovery? Because what I've seen really doesn't seem that bad at all. My biggest gripe with it is probably the editing - Toadie and Steph will be at her house in one scene, and then at his house hours later in the very next scene, and then at the hospital together in the scene after that etc - it should really be interspersed with other storylines rather than following one for several consecutive scenes if that makes sense.

OH and I watched something called Be A Star On Neighbours before tonight's ep where they cast a British actress to play the role of Poppy who'll be in the show for four weeks starting from tomorrow. It was really interesting.

Posted by: T Boy Nov 9 2010, 06:33 PM

The quality of Neighbours is definitely on the rise-the week of the 6000th episode was particularly good. Summer and Andrew are great and I like Natasha too. I like that the new group of teens aren't as S Club 7 as the last group eg they have bad personal qualities and are therefore more rounded people and easier for the audience to relate to. I think overly self righteous characters is whats put a few people off Neighbours in recent years.

Posted by: Shoat Nov 9 2010, 06:33 PM

Strange as it may sound, generally Neighbours HAS got better, even though the viewing figures would suggest otherwise.

Although she made a big noise to the contrary, I think Susan Bower may actually have taken on board all the teen-overload criticism from last year, because this year it's been the adult characters who have taken back control. The big focus has been on two year-long arcs; the Steph/Libby mess (which isn't actually over yet; it's Steph's downward spiral that ends up resulting in Ringo's death) and Paul destroying his own family (I loved the whodunnit week). They're actually playing out stories over a long time period now, and we're also getting to see the long-term consequences long after the big reveal pay-offs. Which has never normally been Neighbours style, where events and people were often forgotten about within a week.

Like you say, Summer and Andrew actually aren't terrible characters. I don't mind Zeke truth to be told either, although I find Kate dull as dishwater, and I don't think the Declan recast has worked AT ALL. I'm not going to claim James Sorensen was the best actor in the world, but he at least was fairly likeable and charming, whereas Erin Mullally seems utterly incapable of expressing any emotion whatsoever; a big issue when he's involved in the big Robinson family demise this year.

The editing's been lousy for a while to be honest, and sometimes it's quite difficult keeping up with what's going on, who's where, etc. But Neighbours never has and never will be elite television; it's always been fairly lightweight fluff.

I do worry for Neighbours' future though, despite the improvement in quality control. There's a mass cast exodus coming (Ringo, Zeke, Declan, Donna, Rebecca and Steph are all off in the next few months, and Lou only pops up once every six months now), viewing figures in Australia are at an all-time low and it's been shunted to a digital-only channel there. And whilst it's on Five, it's NEVER going to match it's popularity when it was on the Beeb. I really wouldn't be surprised to see this off-air within 5 years.

Posted by: T Boy Nov 15 2010, 09:47 PM

So it was Rebecca............not that it wasn't glaringly obvious. Her and Declan are starting to give me the creeps. If I were Kate I'd get out of Ramsay Street as soon as possible!

Posted by: M!key Nov 15 2010, 11:04 PM

There is a new character by the name of Poppy I wonder how long she last, that's the girl from Britain, who won a casting role in Neighbours.

Posted by: JARK Nov 15 2010, 11:06 PM

See my post further up the page. The contract she won as her prize was for four weeks of filming. Thankfully not any longer because judging by her brief appearance last week and the 'tomorrow on Neighbours' clip we saw today she's terrible!

Posted by: JARK Nov 18 2010, 12:09 AM

Oh my lord, I'm so glad I started watching when I did. Seems I've timed it perfectly and got back into it just as it's on the up. Tonight's was FAB - Toadie's jealousy at Sonya's ridiculous ex and that HILARIOUS barbeque scene which somehow confirmed for Summer that Steph has totally LOST IT (I mean she EATING BURGERS and WEARING LEATHERS!). Time for a character RANK N' RATE I think:

LEGENDS

Susan - by far my favourite. Doesn't seem to have aged over the past decade.
Lyn
Karl
Lou
Libby - although she's barely been seen since I started watching again. Kym Valentine is AGELESS
Toadie - much better at being light relief than an angsty so and so though
Steph - thoroughly hateful bitch lately mind you

OTHER FAVOURITES

Rebecca - total QOL
Paul - fabulously manipulative
Andrew - strangely sexy, can actually act and I love that the Scottish in his voice slips through every now and then
Sonya
Michael - a very natural and warm actor/character
Natasha
Callum - freakishly mature for somebody who isn't even a teen mind you!

CAN TAKE OR LEAVE

Donna
Kate - not quite as bland as I thought as first but nonetheless not exactly a beacon of personality
Summer
Zeke

NOT SO HOT ON

Lucas - just strikes me as a bit of a loser and not especially likeable
Woody - awful obviously, worst 'villain' ever
Declan - no explaination needed

Not a bad cast at all!

Posted by: Shoat Nov 19 2010, 12:52 AM

For the most part I'm totally on board with your rankings. Although I'd probably bump Paul up into the "legends" category, and given more time Rebecca easily aswell (sadly we know this is not to be).
Also I'd plonk Kate firmly at the bottom (well actually no, that's reserved for Nu Declan). She's just SO dull.

I'm also with you on Toadie. I did find myself getting a little bored of him when he was roaming around angsting over Steph. He's been much better now he's all happy and loved up with Sonya. On that point, Sonya is the one character who has really benefitted from the whole Steph/Toadie/Libby/Dan mess - before Sonya was a total NOTHING character, an older, blander Kate almost. But suddenly I found myself feeling very sorry for her when she got chucked aside in favour of Steph, and I was rooting for her.

Lucas is an odd one; I can totally understand your current rating of him, because he has spent the past year pretty much without purpose or any real firm link to the rest of the cast since he got sidelined by the Libby/Toadie/Steph palaver. It's a shame, because before that he was a very watchable character (I'm assuming this will have been during the time you weren't watching) - his pairing with Elle Robinson was genuinely one of the best couplings Neighbours has ever come up with; the spoilt princess and the greasy mechanic. The two bounced off each other so well, and he's been totally lost since she left.

So Monday's ep ended a decent streak! I can't believe that well over half of it was spent discussing PIE.

8pm edit - today's was AMAZING. I so hate that Rebecca is going, she's a world class actress. And Paul is astonishingly evil.

Posted by: Shoat Dec 1 2010, 09:17 PM

Paul's an odd one. His actions suggest he is downright evil, but then just as you think that, he'll be off playing father figure to Donna and being genuinely caring. He's a villain certainly, but never an irredeemable one, which is why I guess he's lasted so long on the show.

Hopefully it'll keep getting better (yeah the pie stuff really was too much) as the divine Samantha Fitzgerald returns next week!

This week's been really strong considering the focus on the school kids and you can never have too much of Libby. Loving everybody giving Declan earache and some of the little touches have had me in stitches - Paul's rather harsh outburst of 'YOU MADE ME MISSPELL A WORD!' when Andrew was hassling him. Oh noes, a misspelled word!

Posted by: Shoat Jan 8 2011, 05:23 PM

Just stumbled across a really quite surprising and frankly RIDICULOUS (if true) spoiler; Sonya is Callum's real mother. Neighbours fans are already up in arms as it apparantly contradicts what little backstory Callum had previously been given, and it would also pretty much mean completely re-writing Sonya's entire character as it looks like they're going down the she-knew-from-the-beginning route, which means she's been more than a little devious the last couple of years.

Posted by: T Boy Jan 9 2011, 02:31 PM

I'd read that, and yes it is true. Absolutely ridiculous and obviously being done for shock effect.

I'm really beginning to think about not watching anymore. It all annoys me. Just look at the Steph storyline. Susan Kennedy as good as ordering her daughter to lie in court? That would have been unthinkable 18 months ago! They keep going on and on about Sam just bearing a grudge but in reality, its their grudge against Sam that is driving them more than anything. And as for Sam, I'm upset they're still going down the villain road with her. Yes, she's a good villain, but everyone completely forgets the good characteristics she had in her first run.

But more than anyone, its Donna who annoys me. Ringo's death is a second rate version of Didge's death and the fact that Donna doesn't feel angry with anyone doesn't sit right with me. Its not a very human reaction and smacks of the writers wanting us to think about Donna as some sort of saint. I never thought I'd say it but she's one of the worst characters right now.

And Lucas has lost the plot too. We NEED Elle Robinson back.

Posted by: T Boy Jan 10 2011, 06:18 PM

Oh I was just cheering. Steph found guilty because of the actions of Libby (lying)! The irony. And I've been waiting for Sam to get a win for years. Hopefully this will have a positive effect on Libby and perhaps she won't be so self righteous from now on.

Posted by: JARK Jan 10 2011, 06:58 PM

Oh booo, I'm a week or two behind and I know what happens now. Shouldn't have read the thread.

But Libby has every right to be self righteous. She's a QoL of the highest order.

I'd say she was QoL. Since she came back they've overdone the selfrighteousnous. And they've done it with Susan too. I like to judge characters on how they are currently and not on their past glories and the Kennedys have unfortunately had a rotten 18 months.

Posted by: JARK Jan 18 2011, 03:36 PM

So that hilarious spoiler of Shoat's is 100% TRUE! The reveal occurs 11th Feb.

In other news it's rating pretty well in Oz after moving to Ten's digital sister channel, Eleven. It ended its run on Ten with average ratings in the 400k region. During its first week on Eleven it was averaging about 270k (worth bearing in mind that not everybody in Oz has access to digital) and yesterday's episode scored upwards of 310k. I think it's safe for a while yet.

Posted by: Shoat Jan 19 2011, 11:17 AM

Is that the BIG reveal, or just the reveal to the audience? Surely the latter?

I'd have thought this was going to be the big slow-burner storyline for '11, in the same vein as the downward spiral of Steph last year.

Posted by: JARK Jan 19 2011, 03:37 PM

I think it's when her sister turns up and the audience becomes aware of the situation.

Posted by: JARK Jan 30 2011, 04:58 PM

I have FINALLY fully caught up with the last month's worth of episodes and I have to say the show is just really good at the minute. I would call it more consistent in terms of quality of episodes than Corrie or Emmerdale (although as soaps go Neighbours is obviously such a different breed). Some thoughts on the storylines...

Steph's final fortnight felt like a real event. The court scenes were properly tense and dramatic to the extent that I was hoping for some more courtroom action every episode and wound up disappointed if there was none. It was fantastic seeing Sam properly GO for Steph (and Libby), she's a genuine grade-A soap bitch (although it was outrageous that she was allowed to attack the people on the stand like that LOL). Ultimately though I thought Steph's final episode was a let down. No proper goodbye with Libby (which they wrote as though Libby had held off on one because she was convinced Steph would be fine, when clearly Kym Valentine was only working a few hours a week at that time), and that laughable final scene with Toadie where he tried and spectacularly failed to portray 'harrowing' emotion. The last night with Lucas stuff was lovely (if a bit convenient) but the actual final episode fell flat. In saying that they made a huge deal of her departure which for Carla Bonner has to have been totally satisfying and surely deserved.

Sorry for rambling on! As for the other storylines I'm liking the direction Tash/Andrew/Summer is going on. Tash is much better whispering threats into Summer's ear whilst playing the nasty bedside nurse than she is bragging to Andrew about how popular and beautiful they are like some sort of Mean Girls reject. She really steps her game up soon when she realises Andrew has fallen for Summer and, sensing that she's about to be dumped, fakes a pregnancy to keep hold of him until such time when she fancies taking her revenge - FABULOUS.

Lyn is acting like a crazed nut and I suspect the Lyn haters (she has her fair share) will be hating even harder than usual at the minute as she FLAPS around taking none of the good advice offered to her, throwing money she doesn't have at the most obviously sleazy lawyer you ever laid eyes on, blinking and stuttering a lot. I love her though.

Susan and Karl remain great - I loved seeing the wedge that the court case drove between them and equally I love seeing them playing petty pranks on one another a la this Citizen of the Year competition. Zeke is much more compatible with them and Donna than he is with Sophie/the high school crowd. It's a shame Libby's got another three months off though although obviously Kym Valentine has to prioritise her health.

Kate and Mark Brennan remains rather sickly sweet, with the added disadvantage of the storyline turning Declan into some sort of pantomime villain (just like Nick off Corrie is currently!) at which he is even less convincing than he is the friendly, misunderstood, brooding ex-boyfriend. Mark's accent is also rather grating but I can't bring myself to think of bad of Kate. She's just too nice. Bland but nice.

The Robinson affair remains a bit of a mixed bag... quite clever to keep progressing the storyline whilst Rebecca's off screen because at least it distracts Declan from Kate and gives Paul a chance to be really fucking horrible, but still it would be better with Rebecca around since she's probably the best character on the street. The Michael and Rebecca angle is a bit odd too and seems to have come slightly from nowhere...

And finally Sonya's naughty secret seems to be unfolding quite nicely although from first impressions I'm not keen on Jade. She seems a bit like a Disney character. I wish they would sort out the continuity on this programme though, it's so jarring to see four consecutive scenes of Toadie and Sonya at home, at Charlie's, at Harold's, at home with nothing else breaking it up. Also they need to find more original ways of having people coming face to face with people they don't want to see. The amount of times in one episode Sam would walk into Harold's or Charlie's only to cause TENSION (!!!) with Libby/Steph/Toadie was just ridiculous.

But overall I am liking it very much. AND THERE is my MONTHLY REPORT. I know you're dying to read it. I am sorry if it's a drag and I'm a dreadful bore but I'm not altogether sober at the minute.

Posted by: Shoat Nov 5 2012, 06:11 PM

So LORD KNOWS if anybody out there is still watching this sh*t, but Neighbours have just announced FOUR returnees, all seemingly unconnected, which is genuinely quite terrific.

Steph Scully (out from prison and out for revenge on Paul for helping put her there)
DC Mark Brennan (presumably back for Kate)
Lauren Carpenter (Lou's daughter, albeit as a recast)
Sarah Beaumont (she of Kennedy homewrecker fame in the late 90s).

It sounds like Lauren's return is permanent as she is bringing a whole family with her. Not clear on whether the other three are permanent stays or temporary visits though.

Posted by: T Boy Nov 5 2012, 06:35 PM

Sounds fantastic to me. I'm still going with Neighbours which I have to say has improved vastly since the last time I posted here. It's far from what it was abour 7 years ago but at least they've adjusted the teen number and now have a few more well-rounded, less-S Club 7 characters.

Posted by: Shoat Nov 5 2012, 09:52 PM

I've only been watching on-and-off in recent years, but from what I have seen it's much more balanced than it was during the Susan Bower era when you could go whole episodes without seeing an adult character. For the most part they've got a decent, likeable cast at the moment. Toadie and Sonya seem well placed to become the new Karl/Susan core supercouple, Vanessa is quite beautiful and breathing life back into Lucas, and it'll be a shame to see Jade leave, as she and Kyle are a couple you want to root for despite the dysfunction.

Posted by: T Boy Apr 7 2013, 04:37 PM

Posted by: T Boy Jun 11 2016, 08:11 AM

How did this annoying John Doe remember how to drive?

Posted by: pippa Jun 13 2016, 01:02 PM

I would love to see Naomi return, the only thing that is keeping me interested at the moment is who actually caused the explosion. Paige is someone i wish would leave, her character is nauseating.

Xanthe and her trumpet/trombone thing*.*

Posted by: T Boy Jun 16 2016, 04:38 PM

It's like they went 'Harold left years ago, we need another tuba player' it doesn't suit her character at all.

She is f***ing Sonia off of Eastenders.

Posted by: Devan Jun 16 2016, 04:50 PM

omg don't even. Xanthe is not an unlikeable twat.

I forgot to put 'isn't'!

Piper can die though, such a moron.

Posted by: Devan Jun 16 2016, 05:20 PM

Piper and Tyler engaging in the Neighbours version of sexting was indeed bizarre.

Posted by: Mack Jun 16 2016, 06:28 PM

Why does Piper remind me of Didge for some reason?

Posted by: Devan Jun 16 2016, 07:13 PM

She's not THAT bad

She's overly judgemental and thinks she's above most other characters-that's the biggest similarity.

On the other hand, she doesn't look like a boy wearing a nest and can actually act.

Posted by: jase. Jun 16 2016, 10:19 PM

Xanthe is actually growing on me now laugh.gif

Posted by: Devan Jun 17 2016, 06:41 PM

i wonder how Sonya will cope with having a gay dad.

Posted by: jase. Jun 17 2016, 07:58 PM

Xanthe's iconic playing of that instrument in today's episode rotf.gif rotf.gif

Posted by: Mack Jun 18 2016, 10:27 PM

Tyler is the fake version of Dylan Timmins.

Posted by: jase. Jun 19 2016, 07:19 PM

I had such a huge crush on Dylan back in the day wub.gif

Except Tyler is hot as hell

Posted by: T Boy Jun 19 2016, 07:37 PM

Dylan and Sky were my fave couple. Bring back 2005/6

Posted by: Devan Jun 19 2016, 08:02 PM

Bring back Gabby and her iconicly disgusting fashion sense.

Posted by: Devan Jun 22 2016, 03:21 PM

What the actual f*** at the John Doe reveal

Posted by: Mack Jun 22 2016, 07:01 PM

What? Seriously that's messed up.

Posted by: T Boy Jun 22 2016, 07:02 PM

Definitely didn't see that coming, although this is the first time he's ever appeared interesting. I still want to smack Paige though.

I figured out who caused the explosion some time ago tbh.

Posted by: pippa Jun 22 2016, 07:23 PM

Paige needs to leave. I dont like the character at all.

Posted by: jase. Jun 22 2016, 09:30 PM

so we went through all of that to find out he's a priest? jesus f***ing christ, i give up

Posted by: Mart!n Jun 22 2016, 10:21 PM

That John Doe guy, I know where I've seen him before now... Home and Away, talk about jumping ship. Actually we need to resurrect the Home and Away thread topic as well laugh.gif loving 2 major characters getting killed off this week in H&A, and the revelation of who killed Charlotte, didn't see that coming, yes I do watch H&A as the kids watch it. sleep.gif

Posted by: Devan Jun 23 2016, 02:46 PM

I take back every bad thing i ever said about Piper. She is now fit to be called Terese's daughter.

Julie Quill and her f***ing stupid accent though. Its like a cross of australian/scottish/whatever the actress feels like doing.

Posted by: pippa Jun 23 2016, 03:12 PM

I also dislike the Julie Quill accent, its a bad mixture.

Posted by: Devan Jun 23 2016, 03:13 PM

Erm why did quote myself?

Posted by: jase. Jun 23 2016, 09:49 PM

I literally laugh out loud whenever Julie talks laugh.gif I also didn't know she was Stefan Dennis' wife ohmy.gif

Posted by: T Boy Jun 23 2016, 10:13 PM

I won't take back what I've said about Piper. She's still been a monumental annoyance.

Posted by: Devan Jun 23 2016, 10:44 PM

that slap though.

Posted by: T Boy Jun 25 2016, 02:21 PM

It won't make up for the rest of it I'm afraid.

And why is it that Brad cannot EMOTE?

Posted by: jase. Jun 25 2016, 11:36 PM

Yeah Brad has gotta be one of the most wooden soap actors ever

Posted by: T Boy Jun 26 2016, 07:55 AM

His dad and son died and the son he constantly neglects gets it on with his girlfriend who he's currently also neglecting plus he is the world's worst teacher and yet he struggles to even pull off mildly pissed off.

Posted by: Mack Jun 26 2016, 06:26 PM

What would be the best storyline for you in Neighbours since the millennium?

Posted by: T Boy Jun 26 2016, 06:38 PM

For me, I've enjoyed:

1) everything from Paul's return/burning Lassiters right up to the 20th anniversary documentary. So well played out.
2) Karl/Izzy/Susan triangle
3) Sam Fitzgerald's bipolar
4) Lauren discovering Paige
5) Return of Madge
6) anything with Janelle Timmins

That's off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more.
