New soundtrack single from Dua from the movie 'Alita Battle Angel', coming soon! Dua's confirmed that a music video has been shot too

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ Dec 17 2018, 05:15 PM

This will be released sometime in January. She confirmed on Instagram that there will be a music video too, which it's implied in the tweet below.

I was gonna put out smthn but i’ve decided to wait and put it out with a video which im actually filming next week... its gonna take a little while to make so its gonna have to wait till Jan 😩 it’s completely seperate to my next album but I think you guys will love it 💕

A soundtrack single will help keep her afloat until the next era, this is a really good idea tbh. If it's getting a music video from the get-go it'll hopefully get radio & Spotify pushes too and become an IDGAF-sized hit

Posted by: lewistgreen Jan 3 2019, 05:32 PM

Confirmed today that it’s out January 25th

Posted by: Wreatheo Jan 3 2019, 09:01 PM

Oh finally! I was thinking it was odd how she went quiet about this all of a sudden, even though it's been her profile picture on Instagram since she announced it

Posted by: Theo. Jan 18 2019, 12:35 AM

This is now coming next Thursday because Dua hates her fans

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ Jan 20 2019, 01:44 AM

Don't get me wrong, but I think it's good when some artists release their songs before Friday, despite that the global release date is on Friday and some sales and streaming aren't counted for the tracking period. I mean, early releases stand out for the group of songs that are available on Friday and they aren't condensed with the multiple releases. Also, people are aware of the early releases beforehand, aside if the artist mentioned when their songs are going to be out.

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ Jan 23 2019, 02:35 PM

Premieres tomorrow at 10am. EST / 3pm. GMT. The music video has been shot by Floria Sigismondi.

Straight on to Capital and Radio 2! Expect Radio 1 to do the same

Available now. Premiered on BBC Radio 1.

Loving this! Looking forward to (hopefully) more new stuff later this year!

Posted by: Cameron Jan 24 2019, 03:39 PM

Ohhhh this is not bad

Posted by: Joe. Jan 24 2019, 03:41 PM

I like this! It's gooood. Not her best, but it's good for a soundtrack song.

Posted by: Theo. Jan 24 2019, 04:17 PM

My first thought was that this sounds nothing like her on the chorus and it doesn't match her sound at all?! I imagine it'll be a middling hit but probably won't peak very high

Posted by: Defaze Jan 24 2019, 06:21 PM

This is decent enough but not a patch on 'Electricity' or 'Kiss and Make Up'. The chorus lets it down massively.

Posted by: Cqmerqn Jan 24 2019, 08:58 PM

Average. 5/10 at best.

The lead for DL2 better be a huge bop!

Posted by: BotchLikeThis Jan 24 2019, 09:34 PM

It's not what I expected! Not sure if I love it yet

Posted by: Theo. Jan 25 2019, 09:11 AM

Insta add to Radio 1's A List!

Posted by: TheGrinch Jan 25 2019, 10:15 AM

DAMN.

They really are pushing this on airplay and spotify.

Posted by: deepinside Jan 25 2019, 01:11 PM

I get the Starboy/Pray for Me vibe from this song.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jan 25 2019, 01:14 PM

It was sounding quite promising until the chorus. Underwhelming. sad.gif

Posted by: Klaus Jan 26 2019, 10:10 AM

Yeh, the verses are really good but the chorus isn’t great and puts me off sad.gif

Posted by: Liаm Jan 26 2019, 10:25 AM

This has definitely got that soundtrack feel, I feel like it might need more listens but I agree the chorus really lets it down sad.gif It feels like it's buildings and the chorus is just there.

Posted by: SGrey Jan 26 2019, 11:23 AM

I do hope this isn’t another Rise situation like Katy!

Posted by: Slick Jan 26 2019, 02:34 PM

Not a huge fan of this initially. She's capable of much better.

Posted by: BotchLikeThis Jan 26 2019, 02:49 PM

I've decided I love it!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jan 26 2019, 10:28 PM

Really like this. I didn't like New Rules at all, but everything she's released since have been really solid

Top 50!

Posted by: Tombo Jan 28 2019, 10:43 AM

This is such a good song, it deserves to be a hit for her! I hope it is as often soundtrack songs don't do that well (there are exceptions to this though)

Posted by: Klumzee Jan 28 2019, 12:03 PM

This is pretty solid for a soundtrack single! It does have that sound to it rather than a new Dua song but I think it works well. If it gets radio backing it probably would be another top 20 hit?

Posted by: Joe. Jan 29 2019, 08:51 AM

How do we think this'll do? It seems to be getting a huge push but not taking off quite as much as I expected.

Posted by: Cqmerqn Jan 29 2019, 10:23 AM

Her Rise has arrived.

Posted by: blacksquare Jan 29 2019, 11:16 AM

One Kiss and Electricity had something effortless and cool about them - this does not.

The 'swan song' section of the chorus is pretty terrible. It's a serviceable soundtrack single but feels like a misfire.

Posted by: Bré Jan 30 2019, 01:00 AM

This sounded like it had the potential to be really good but the chorus kind of kills the momentum. It just sounds a bit clunky, the words 'swan song' just don't sound very good in a pop song. May well turn out to be a grower though, I do really like the production (I was thinking it reminded me of 'Pray For Me' as well).

It ‘ll be interesting to see how Ms. Dua does in her 2nd album campaign. So far it looks like hyped success as shes only had 2 hits & 2 big features.

To be fair to her, she's had a platinum selling album for her debut, on top of those she's had No Lie and Scared To Be Lonely which are significant features and Hotter Than Hell and Be The One were definitely enduring hits in their own right. I agree the hype has probably helped boost those sales and her reputation going into the 2nd album campaign but which major star has not had that along the way?

How is this doing?

Posted by: Theonix Feb 15 2019, 04:47 PM

New peak of #24 this week, I can't see it going much higher now that the film is out and it was #2 on Today's Top Hits all of last week

Posted by: dobbo Feb 25 2019, 10:37 PM

This is very good! Nice switch up in sound after I felt she was being a bit predictable.

Posted by: Defaze Mar 1 2019, 06:53 PM

Not me coming around to this massively only for it to bomb out of the top 40. Not that it'll do her any harm, but I'm quite surprised it's done so poorly given the immediate support it received. Can she maybe ease off on the collabs/movie tracks until DL2 now? This era has lasted an eternity.

Posted by: 365 Mar 2 2019, 04:43 PM

OMG it’s already out of top 40!?

Posted by: blacksquare Mar 2 2019, 05:24 PM

This was such a misstep and a waste of time.

Posted by: 365 Mar 2 2019, 09:49 PM

It’s not great when songs get such instant pushes - A list r1, instant capital, big hot hits placements etc and then flounder like this. It’s just not good for the artist. It’ll be fine for Dua she’s in a more than comfortable position though. She needs to go back with some quiet time now and launch DL2 in Q4 IMO.

New single in Oct and November album?

You're right - I doubt people will even remember it existed and the hype leading into the next album will remain the same. It's just an annoying blip on her fantastic singles run thus far.

Posted by: Scene Mar 3 2019, 03:00 PM

I can't see its underperformance affecting her success for DL2. That will all depend on its lead single. A January 2020 release would be far more beneficial for her imo than Q4 providing no Ed/Adele release.

Posted by: 365 Mar 3 2019, 05:48 PM

It's just I've noticed when Radio 1 auto-A list an artist, and Spotify give them massive top promo and Capital instant add, if the song under-performs, they can be slower with support next time round.

Posted by: Wall Mar 3 2019, 06:25 PM

Swan Song should have truly done better

Posted by: Jade Mar 3 2019, 06:26 PM

'Swan Song' is a total non-event, I'm not surprised in the slightest that its chart performance has been underwhelming!

(to be fair the production is great but the rest of it doesn't work at all)

I’m not surprised this underperformed, it’s just such a boring, non-existent bleh song.
